나노 유체(Nanofluids)의 열전도도 (Thermal Conductivities of Nanofluids)

  • Investigators have been perplexed with the thermal phenomena behind the recently discovered nanofluids, fluids with unprecedented stability of suspended nanoparticles although huge difference in the density of nanoparticles and fluid. For example, nanofluids have anomalously high thermal conductivities at very low fraction, strongly temperature-dependent and size-dependent conductivities, and three-fold higher critical heat flux than that of base fluids. Traditional conductivity theories such as the Maxwell or other macroscale approaches cannot explain why nanofluids have these intriguing features. So in this paper, we devise a theoretical model that accounts for the fundamental role of dynamic nanoparticles in nanofluids. The proposed model not only captures the concentration and temperature-dependent conductivity, but also predicts strongly size-dependent conductivity. Furthermore, we physically explain the new phenomena for nanofluids. In addition, based on a proposed model, the effects of various parameters such as the ratio of thermal conductivity of nanofluids to that of a base fluid, volume fraction, nanoparticle size, and temperature on the thermal conductivities of nanofluids are investigated.

폐색정도를 고려한 개단말뚝의 지지력 산정 (Estimation of Bearing Capacity for Open-Ended Pile Considering Soil Plugging)

  • The bearing capacity of open-ended piles is affected by the degree of soil plugging, which is quantified by the IFR. There is not at present a design criterion for open-ended piles that explicitly considers the effect of IFR on pile load capacity In order to investigate this effect, model pile load tests using a calibration chamber were conducted on instrumented open-ended piles. The results of these tests show that the IFR increases with increasing relative density and increasing horizontal stress of soils. The unit base and shaft resistances decrease with increasing IFR. Based on the results of the model pile tests, new empirical relations for base load capacity and shaft load capacity of open-ended piles are proposed. In order to check the accuracy of predictions made with the proposed equations, the equations were applied to the full-scale pile load test preformed in this study, Based on the comparisons with the pile load test results, the proposed equations appear to produce satisfactory predictions.

Adsorption Selectivities between Hydroxypyridine and Pyridone Adsorbed on the Ge(100) Surface

  • The most stable adsorption structures and their corresponding energies of 4-pyridone, 4-hydroxypyridine, 2-pyridone and 2-hydroxypyridine have been investigated by Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculation method and high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy (HRPES). We confirmed that between the two reaction centers of 4- and 2-pyridone, only O atom of carbonyl functional group can act as a Lewis base and thus, O dative bonding structure is the most stable. On the other hand, we clarified that both the two reaction centers (the cyclic N atom and the O atom of hydroxyl functional group) of 4- and 2-hydroxypyridine (tautomers of 4- and 2-pyridone) can successfully function as a Lewis base. Through the interpretation of the N 1s and O 1s core level spectra obtained using HRPES, we could confirm the electronic structures and bonding configurations of these molecules with a coverage dependence on the Ge(100) surface.

Corrosion Inhibition Screening of 2-((6-aminopyridin-2-yl)imino)indolin-3-one: Weight Loss, Morphology, and DFT Investigations

  • Because of its inexpensive cost, mild steel is frequently employed as a construction material in different industries. Unfortunately, because of its limited resistance to corrosion, a protective layer must be applied to keep it from decaying in acidic or basic environments. The presence of heteroatoms, such as nitrogen, oxygen, and pi-electrons in the Schiff base could cause effective adsorption on the mild steel surface, preventing corrosion. The weight loss method and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to investigate the inhibitory effects of APIDO on mild steel in a 1 M hydrochloric acid environment. The efficiency of inhibition increased as the inhibitor concentration increased and decreased as the temperature increased. The SEM analysis confirmed that the corrosion inhibition of APIDO proceeded by the formation of an organic protective layer over the mild steel surface by the adsorption process. Simulations based on the density functional theory are used to associate inhibitory efficacy with basic molecular characteristics. The findings acquired were compatible with the experimental information provided in the research.

  • A novel n-p-n bipolar transistor of which emitter is self-aligned with base contact by polyilicon is developed for using in high speed and high packing density LSI circuits. The emitter of this transistor is separated less than 0.4 \ulcorner with base contact by self-aligh technology, and the emitter feature size is less than 3x5 \ulcorner\ulcorner Because the active region of this transistor is not damaged through all the process, it has excellent electric properties. Using the n-p-n transistors by 3.0\ulcorner design rules, a NTL ring oscillator has 380 ps, a CML ring oscillator has 390ps, and a I\ulcorner ring oscillator has 5.6ns of per-gate minimum propagation delay time.

강성저면위 유한한 두께의 모래지반에 놓인 얕은기초의 지지력 (Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundation on a Finite Layer of Sandy Ground Underlain by a Rigid Base)

  • 본 논문에서는 모형실험과 수치해석을 수행하여 유한한 두께의 모래지반 위에 놓인 얕은 띠기초의 지지력 평가방법을 제안하였다. 모형실험은 현장에서 채취한 모래시료를 사용하여 모래지반의 상대밀도와 대상 기초폭(B) 에 대한 모래층 두께(H)의 비(H/B)를 변화시키면서 1g와 20g 중력수준의 원심모형실험을 실시하였다. 실험결과, H/B가 감소함에 따라 지지력은 증가하고 침하는 감소하는 경향을 보였으며, 상대밀도 증가에 따라 지지력이 증가하는 경향도 나타났다. 강성지반 위 두께가 얇은 모래층의 지지력 평가방법을 제안하기 위하여 실험 결과 얻은 지지력 계수를 H/B의 영향을 고려한 Mandel & Salencon(1972)의 수정지지력계수와 비교 분석하였다. H/B에 따른 지지력계수비 관계를 제안하여 보수적인 설계에 적용할 수 있도록 하였다. 기초 제원, 사질토 상대밀도, H/B를 변화시킨 수치해석을 실시한 결과, 제시된 관계식과 유사한 경향성을 확인하였다.

매입말뚝의 선단지지력 증대를 위한 강관 부착 PHC파일 개발 (Development of Steel Pipe Attached PHC Piles for Increasing Base Load Capacity of Bored Pre-cast Piles)

  • PHC파일을 사용한 매입말뚝은 시공 중에 발생하는 소음과 진동을 최소화할 수 있다는 장점 때문에 많은 경우 도심지에 건설되는 건축구조물의 기초로 사용된다. 그러나 매입말뚝의 시공을 위해 굴착공을 천공하는 과정에서 굴착공 저면에 슬라임이 형성되고 그 하부의 지반은 응력이완으로 인해 조밀도가 느슨해져서 매입말뚝은 원지반의 강도에 비해 선단지지력이 작게 발휘된다는 단점을 갖고 있다. 본 연구에서는 매입말뚝의 선단지지력을 증대시키기 위해 PHC파일의 선단에 길이가 짧고 PHC파일과 직경이 동일한 강관을 부착한 새로운 형태의 PHC파일을 개발하였다. 새로운 PHC파일을 사용한 매입말뚝의 선단지지력 증대 효과를 검증하기 위해 현장 말뚝재하시험을 수행한 결과 새로운 PHC파일은 경타에 의해 파일 선단이 굴착공 저면의 슬라임과 그 하부의 이완된 지지층 영역을 관통해서 강도가 큰 원지반에 관입됨으로써 기존 PHC파일보다 매입말뚝의 선단지지력을 상당히 증대시키는 것으로 나타났다.

발코니 확장 합법화 이후 건축 밀도의 변화 - 송도경제자유구역 내 아파트를 중심으로 (Changes on Building Density after Legalization of Balcony Expansion - Focused on Apartment in Songdo Economic Free Zone)

  • 본 연구에서는 발코니의 이론적 배경을 살펴보고 발코니 활용에 따라 기본형 평면과 확장형 평면의 출현 과정을 살펴보고자 한다. 실제 사례를 대상지로 선정하여 건축 밀도의 변화를 실질적으로 분석하고 향후 인천광역시 현 도시 관리측면의 정책과의 관계를 살펴보는데 기초 자료로 제공한다. 이러한 분석을 통하여 첫째, 건축법 시행령 내 발코니의 다양한 정의와 특성을 분석하고 이후 2005년 합법화에 따른 발코니 확장을 기준으로 하여 기본형 평면과 확장형 평면으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 둘째, 발코니 확장에 따른 밀도에 관한 문제를 다양한 이론적 고찰을 통해 제기하였고 대상지의 밀도 관리 측면의 계획적 시도를 살펴보았다. 셋째, 인천광역시 송도경제자유구역 사례를 대상으로 실질적인 건축면적과 연면적 그리고 용적률 등을 살펴보았으며, 이러한 논의를 통하여 일부 구역에서 실제적으로 운영되고 있는 지구단위계획의 밀도 관리를 준수하지 못하고 있음을 증명하였다.

생산 공정 자료 기반 양산단계 전차 전장관리체계 환경 부하 선별 시험 방법 및 적용 개선에 관한 연구 (A study on Mass production stage Tank Battle Management System Environmental Stress Screening test method and application improvement based on Production process data)

  • Purpose: In this study, we apply environmental stress screening (ESS) to battle management system (BMS) of a tank and use the ESS profile based on production process data, guided by MIL-HDBK-781/344/2164. Methods: To optimize ESS Profile of the BMS of a tank, we estimate ESS model parameters (e.g., defect density, screening strength) using primary production failure reporting and corrective action system (FRACAS) data of military supply contract firm. Results: First, we collect the Primary production FRACAS data of military supply contract firm. Second, we compute curve fitting approach to find patent defect density and latent defect density using FRACAS data. Third, we solve the equation of Defect Density(patent defect density + latent defect density)($D_{IN}$) and Screening Strength(SS) Using second step data. As a result of analysis according to the order, we calculate $D_{IN}$(Temperature stress case : 74.02, Vibration stress : 10.252) and : SS(Temperature stress case : 0.4632, Vibration stress : 0.4142) and confirm the Condition II-D based on MIL-HDBK-344. According to Condition II-D, it is necessary to modify existing ESS profile through decreasing the $D_{IN}$ and increasing the SS. Conclusion: Identification of defect causes through ESS approach reduce defect densities for production. It provides feedback to a lessons-learned data base to avoid similar problems on next generation tank BMS.

점용접 시 압흔 깊이 감소를 위한 절연팁 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Insulated Electrode Tip for Spot Welding to Reduce Indentation)

  • Stainless rolling stocks are usually fabricated by spot welding process without painting. Indentation on the surface of the car body after spot welding injures the beauty of the stainless rolling stocks. In this study, insulated electrode tips to reduce the indentation are developed and applied to the actual spot welding works. The developed tips are composed of head, neck, hole for cooling water, body and resistance material. They provide large surface contact area with the base materials during spot welding and enhance the current density by necking. Experimental results using the developed tips show that small indentation and sufficient tensile shear strength is produced due to large contact area and enhanced current density.
