  • This study aims to investigate whether economic growth is elevated by banking industry development in Jordan. The study adopts time-series econometric methodologies, which comprise the bounds testing approach within the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) and the conditional causality analysis. Consistent with the assumptions of the adopted methodology, the study utilized annual time-series data for a relatively long period of thirty-nine years, between 1980 and 2018. The empirical results show that Jordan's economic growth is strongly responsive in respect to any changes in banking industry development. Also, the results reveal the harmful impact of rising lending interest rate; as this rate increases, economic growth will decrease. The findings are in line with the conceptual arguments of the supply-leading hypothesis, which confirmed that banking development is considered as one of the main pillars that have stimulating effects on economic growth. The evidence of the current study may provide important implications for policymakers and bankers. Those professionals should work to maintain a stable regulatory system that enhances the banking system function in activating economic growth. Also, a considerable focus should be placed on designing a steady interest rate policy to avoid the inherently undesirable impacts of high-interest rates on the Jordanian economy.

  • In today's financial industry, Fintech (financial technology) has showed its role of an innovation-driving area, which can bring outstanding changes to the traditional financial market. This article will briefly introduce Fintech as well as its development in Vietnam. Besides, the research also provided a survey on experts' opinions on the challenges to the promotion of Fintech application for the modernization of the banking-finance system in Vietnam. The survey results of 40 experts in banking with knowledge of Fintech identify five challenges faced by Fintech companies in Vietnam: (1) legal corridor; (2) infrastructure; (3) Fintech companies; (4) customers; and (5) human resources. From these five challenges/barriers, there are 14 detailed aspects. The results of the expert survey using descriptive statistics show that all five factors are assessed to be low and need to be better addressed in the future. The authors suggest several solutions for further development of Fintech to support the modernization of the banking-finance system in Vietnam: (1) quickly complete the regulatory framework; (2) introduce policies on tax exemption; (3) promote research and application of the benefits of block-chain technology; (4) utilize the abilities of the human resources; and (5) actively promote and popularize knowledge about Fintech.

  • Due to the development of the Internet, Internet banking that we are liberated from time and space has evolved into banking system. So modern life became comfortable. However, Dysfunction (malicious Information leakage and hacking etc.) of the Internet development has become a serious social problem. According to this, The need for security is rapidly growing. In this paper, we proposed the Internet Banking Authentication System using a dual-channel in OTP(One Time Password) authentication. This technology is that A user transfer transaction information to Bank through one Internet channel then bank transfer transaction information to user using the registered mobile phone or smart phone. If user confirm transaction information then bank request user's OTP value. User create OTP value and transfer to bank and bank authenticate them throgth the ARS. If authentication is pass then transaction permitted. Security assessment that the proposed system, the security requirement that the confidentiality and integrity, authentication, repudiation of all of the features provide a key length is longer than the current Internet banking systems, such as using encryption, the security provided by the Financial Supervisory Service Level 1 rating can be applied to more than confirmed.

  • Recently, internet as well as internet banking are growing rapidly. Most banks in Korea provide internet banking services for customers. Internet banking became a major trend in the financial marketplace. There are a few empirical research in this area. Although quality of internet banking service is an important concept, there is a lack of theory-based empirical research in this area. Therefore, this paper is aimed at finding whether service quality of internet banking influence customer satisfaction, and whether characteristic of internet banking user influence relationship between customer satisfaction and service quality of internet banking. Furthermore, this paper identify whether customer satisfaction influence customer loyalty. The research model proposed thirteen hypothesis and tested empirically. A total of 269 responses were received from internet banking users and analyzed. The analyses showed partial support for the affirmative effect of customer satisfaction and characteristic of internet banking user. But the relationship between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty is significant. Implications of these findings are that internet banking sites should concentrate on providing a high quality of banking services; information, trust, ease of use, and security of system and thereby strengthen customer loyalty.

  • Banking industries have continuously innovated through technology-enhanced products and services. Many studies have recognized the importance of the Internet in banking industries, arguing that it has been widely adopted. Many studies published on the Internet banking in specific countries are mostly related with such issues as internet banking adoption and acceptance, security and risks of online banking system, and interface design. Several studies have been done to examine the differences and similarities between other banking channels and the Internet banking. However, to the best of our knowledge, only a limited number of studies has examined the differences and similarities between two specific countries in order to create a new customer satisfaction model. In this research, we studied the internet banking satisfaction model by comparing two countries: South Korea and Indonesia. We conducted an empirical study based on the data collected in both two countries. In this research, we found that countries which have adopted electric banking services, particularly between a country with high ICT adoption and a country with low ICT adoption, show different satisfaction trends. Based on the study results, herein we provide discussion, managerial, and practical implications.

  • With the full implementation of open banking in which both banks and fintech companies participate, changes in the whole society such as new types of products, services, and businesses are taking place. Whenever new systems and environments change, research on technology acceptance by system users has been continued, and this study also verified how the characteristics of open banking affect the perceived ease of use and usefulness of the Technology Acceptance Model, and the intention to use open banking. As a result of the study, it was found that both information provision, service interactivity, and system stability had a significant effect on perceived ease of use, usefulness, and intention to use open banking. In the future, open banking may bring significant benefits to data sharing, financial access, banking infrastructure, product innovation and pricing, but it is also expected to bring unexpected damage. Therefore, domestic financial institutions should actively cope with the situation where the business environment is greatly changing due to the digital environment change, and at the same time actively foster fintech companies and promote innovation in the financial industry.

  • This paper reviews the rationale of monetary and banking intervention by an outside authority, either the government or the central bank, and seeks to delineate clearly the optimal limits to the monetary and banking deregulation currently underway in Korea as well as on a global scale. Furthermore, this paper seeks to establish an objective and balanced view on the role of the central bank, especially in light of the current discussion on the restructuring of Korea's central bank, which has been severely contaminated by interest-group politics. The discussion begins with the recognition that the modern free banking school and the new monetary economics are becoming formidable challenges to the traditional role of the government or the central bank in the monetary and banking sector. The paper reviews six arguments that have traditionally been presented to support intervention: (1) the possibility of an over-issue of bank notes under free banking instead of central banking; (2) externalities in and the public good nature of the use of money; (3) economies of scale and natural monopoly in producing money; (4) the need for macro stabilization policy due to the instability of the real sector; (5) the external effects of bank failure due to the inherent instability of the existing banking system; and (6) protection for small banknote users and depositors. Based on an analysis of the above arguments, the paper speculates on the optimal role of the government or central bank in the monetary and banking system and the optimal degree of monetary and banking deregulation. By contrast to the arguments for free banking or laissez-faire monetary systems, which become fashionable in recent years, monopoly and intervention by the government or central bank in the outside money system can be both necessary and optimal. In this case, of course, an over-issue of fiat money may be possible due to political considerations, but this issue is beyond the scope of this paper. On the other hand, the issue of inside monies based on outside money could indeed be provided for optimally under market competition by private institutions. A competitive system in issuing inside monies would help realize, to the maxim urn extent possible, external economies generated by using a single outside money. According to this reasoning, free banking activities will prevail in the inside money system, while a government monopoly will prevail in the outside money system. This speculation, then, also implies that the monetary and banking deregulation currently underway should and most likely will be limited to the inside money system, which could be liberalized to the fullest degree. It is also implied that it will be impractical to deregulate the outside money system and to allow market competition to provide outside money, in accordance with the arguments of the free banking school and the new monetary economics. Furthermore, the role of the government or central bank in this new environment will not be significantly different from their current roles. As far as the supply of fiat money continues to be monopolized by the government, the control of the supply of base money and such related responsibilities as monetary policy (argument(4)) and the lender of the last resort (argument (5)) will naturally be assigned to the outside money supplier. However, a mechanism for controlling an over-issue of fiat money by a monopolistic supplier will definitely be called for (argument(1)). A monetary policy based on a certain policy rule could be one possibility. More importantly, the deregulation of the inside money system would further increase the systemic risk inherent in the current fractional banking system, while enhancing the efficiency of the system (argument (5)). In this context, the role of the lender of the last resort would again become an instrument of paramount importance in alleviating liquidity crises in the early stages, thereby disallowing the possibility of a widespread bank run. Similarly, prudential banking supervision would also help maintain the safety and soundness of the fully deregulated banking system. These functions would also help protect depositors from losses due to bank failures (argument (6)). Finally, these speculations suggest that government or central bank authorities have probably been too conservative on the issue of the deregulation of the financial system, beyond the caution necessary to preserve system safety. Rather, only the fullest deregulation of the inside money system seems to guarantee the maximum enjoyment of external economies in the single outside money system.

  • Korean core banking system has been redeveloped twice in the last 30 years with big-bang method, but still needs innovation to meet everlasting business changes. The objective of this study is to identify which decision criteria lead to replacement decision of core baning system in spite of its huge investment and accompanying business risk. For the study, we conducted a survey to 64 decision makers working in banks and IT service companies, and analysed the data using factor analysis and multi-regression analysis method of SPSS. As a result, we extracted statistically valid decision model with 4 major decision criteria, which are IT external, IT internal, IT ecology and Executive's will factor. Among them, we concluded only IT internal and IT ecology criteria give significant influence over the replacement decision of existing core banking system.

  • Nowadays, the finance changes so rapidly that the time period of developing a e-banking system has been shorter. As a result, the risk of developing in the new e-banking system has increased. Therefore financial institutions constantly ask to review the quality test of their system during the project development. However, from the developer's point of view, additional system quality inspection will delay the development time for a new project, so financial investors and developers, because this problem will cause conflict. In order to solve this problem, in this paper define priority that considered characteristics of e-banking system and thereby design range priority decision criteria for efficient code inspection. Even in the e-banking system development, it is expected that using newly designed range of code inspection will allow high efficient quality performance.
