This study evaluated the biosorption properties of calcium ion using Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS). A sequencing batch reactor was used to induce the production of Extracellular Polymeric Substances (EPS) through salinity injection, and the calcium ion adsorption efficiency was analyzed by a batch test. The EPS contents showed significant changes (104-136 mg/g MLVSS) at different salinity concentrations. The calcium ion adsorption efficiency was highest for AGS collected at 5.0% salinity, and it was confirmed that the biosorption efficiency of AGS was increased owing to the increase in EPS content. The results of the Freundlich isotherms showed that the ion binding strength (1/n) was 0.3941-0.7242 and the adsorption capacity ($K_f$) was 2.4082-3.3312. The specific surface area and the pore size of the AGS were $586.1m^2/g$ and 0.7547 nm, respectively, which were not significantly different from each other. It was confirmed that the influence of biological properties, such as EPS content, was relatively large among the factors affecting calcium ion adsorption.
The purpose of this study is to biological treatment of high salinity wastewater using Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS). In laboratory scale's experiments research was performed using a sequencing batch reactor, and evaluation of the denitrification reaction in accordance with the injection condition of salinity concentration, surface properties of microorganisms, and sludge precipitability was performed. The results showed that the salinity concentration increased up to 1.5%, and there was no significant difference in the nitrogen removal efficiency; however, it showed a tendency to decrease gradually from 2.0% onward. The specific denitrification rate (SDNR) was 0.052 - 0.134 mg $NO_3{^-}-N/mg$ MLVSS (mixed liquor volatile suspended solid)${\cdot}day$. The MLVSS/MLSS (mixed liquor suspended solid) ratio decreased to 76.2%, and sludge volume index ($SVI_{30}$) was finally lowered to 57 mL/g. Using an optical microscope, it was also observed that the initial size of the sludge was 0.2 mm, and finally it was formed to 0.8-1.0 mm. Therefore, salinity injection provides favorable conditions for the formation of an AGS, and it was possible to maintain stable granular sludge during long-term operation of the biological treatment system.

Although corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an extensively studied topic, its determinants in the field of Islamic banking are scarce. In Bangladesh, CSR plays a vital role in gaining customer loyalty and confidence. Therefore, this research aims to identify and analyze the influence of the Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB) and the Shariah Audit Committee (SAC) on CSR adoption in Islamic banks in Bangladesh. The study population is managers and second managers of 160 Islamic bank branches of different commercial banks in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The sampling technique used is convenience sampling where the first available primary data source was used for the research without additional requirements. The study developed a survey questionnaire from examining previous related studies in Islamic banking and CSR context. The final sample size in this research was n = 309, indicating the survey response rate was about 97%. The study used SPSS 23.0 software to interpret the statistical findings, and the findings revealed that support from the SSB and the presence of a strong and effective SAC has a strong correlation with CSR adoption and significantly influence CSR adoption in Islamic banks in Bangladesh. Finally, the study proposes several significant and crucial policy guidelines for Islamic bank branches to adopt CSR activities.

This study aims to assess the impact of ownership structure of commercial banks on bank credit risk in Vietnam. The authors used the unbalanced table data of 28 commercial banks in the period from 2004 to 2020 with 439 observations. The ratio of loan loss provisioning to loans (CR) is selected as a dependent variable representing credit risk at commercial banks. The regression methods used include: least squares method (OLS), fixed-effect model (FEM), random-effect model (REM) and general least squares method (GLS). The results reveal that, with interaction variable between the ratio of equity to total assets and foreign ownership, the national GDP annual growth rate is negatively associated with credit risk. With the ratio of equity to total assets, the interaction variable between equity and state ownership, and bank size have a significant positive impact on credit risk. In addition, inflation has negligible impact on the credit risk of commercial banks in Vietnam over the research period. The findings of this study suggest that, if foreign-owned banks increase equity capital, there will be a stronger impact on reducing credit risk than other banks. On the other hand, when state-owned commercial banks in Vietnam increase equity, they will have higher credit risk.

This article examines the influence of Basel III reforms, risk management, and banking sector efficiency on banks' financial stability in emerging countries. The data for this study is collected from various sources. Based on the GDP classification of IMF, the top 22 countries were selected as the sample. The sampling frame includes all six regions of the world including 482 banks and 3022 observations in total. The empirical analysis is carried out by estimating the random effects models. It is found that the effects of capital buffer, liquidity, and risk management practices are significant on financial stability. It is also noticed that the capital buffer has a constructive and significant influence on financial stability. However, liquidity management shows a mixed impact, as in some countries, its impact is positive and significant while, in other countries, it is insignificant. Risk management practices have an overall positive influence on financial stability in the case of large economies. However, results are insignificant in the case of small economies. Bank-specific variables, namely profitability, size, and efficiency have a positive whereas, loan quality has a negative impact on financial stability in the emerging countries. GDP has a positive impact on financial stability whereas inflation and unemployment both have a negative effect on financial stability.

In this paper, a VSC(Voltage Sag Corrector) is discussed for the purpose of power quality enhancement. A fast detecting technique of voltage sag is accomplished through the detection of instantaneous value on synchronous reference frame. A robust characteristic against the noise is available by inserting the first order low pass filter in the detection circuit. The formula and the filter design process is described properly with the mathematical equations. Because the VSC system supply the active power to load, it is required to design the proper size of the energy storage system, In this paper, the capacitor bank is used as an energy storage system, and the size of the capacitor is designed from the point of view of input/output energy as the output power rating and the amplitude and duration time of the voltage sag. The simulation is accomplished by PSCAD/EMTDC.
The Information of Edges which takes small area comparing with the total image is very important in DNA images as well as general images. DNA image is the object should be managed by computing and it's demanding information is less than general images, but the accuracy is more important In a huge DNA image processing system such as DNA Information Bank, the performance depends on the size of image. In this paper, we extract the edge information and make it as a binary image. To reduce the size of the original image, it was applied by JPEG image compression method. The compressed image is combined with edge information when they are restored. As a result, Both the image compression ratio and restoration quality are optimized without the loss of critical information.

Even though the multiple pages TLB are effective in improving the performance, a conventional method with OS support cannot utilize multiple page sizes in user application. Thus, we propose a new multiple-TLB structure supporting multiple page sizes for high performance and low power consumption without any operating system support. The proposed TLB is organised as two parts of a S-TLB(Small TLB) with a small page size and a L-TLB(Large TLB) with a large page size. Both are designed as fully associative bank structures. The S-TLB stores small pages are evicted from the L-TLB, and the L-TLB stores large pages including a small page generated by the CPU. Each one bank module of S-TLB and L-TLB can be selectively accessed base on particular one and two bits of the virtual address generated from CPU, respectively. Energy savings are achieved by reducing the number of entries accessed at a time. Also, this paper proposed the simple 1-bit LRU policy to improve the performance. The proposed LRU policy can present recently referenced block by using an additional one bit of each entry on TLBs. This method can simply select a least recently used page from the L-TLB. According to the simulation results, the proposed TLB can reduce Energy * Delay by about 76%, 57%, and 6% compared with a fully associative TLB, a ARM TLB, and a Dual TLB, respectively.
This paper analyzes the effects of three factors on the firm-size wage premium which have not been considered in previous studies: the worker compositions within firms, the wage differentials between contractors and subcontractors, and the performance pay and rent-sharing behaviors of firms. The main results are as follows. First, even after controlling for the various worker characteristics, the differences in shares of highly educated workers, managers, and professionals between large and small firms make the size-wage premium larger. Secondly, wage differentials between contractors and subcontractors also affect the size-wage premium in the manufacturing sector. Thirdly, high performance pay and active rent-sharing behaviors of large manufacturing firms make the size-wage premium larger. These results imply that a positive matching effect among skilled workers, a structural problem between contractors and subcontractors, and differences in rent-sharing behaviors between large and small firms have affected the firm-size wage premium in the South Korean labor market.
Standard- and large-sized eggs of Trichuris trichiura were found in the feces of schoolchildren in Yangon, Myanmar during epidemiological surveys and mass deworming with albendazole in 2017-2019. The standard-sized eggs were identified as those of T. trichiura, but it was necessary to exclude the possibility of the large-sized eggs belonging to Trichuris vulpis, a dog whipworm. We conducted morphological and molecular studies to determine the species of the 2 types of Trichuris eggs. Individual eggs of both sizes were isolated from Kato-Katz fecal smears (n=20) and mechanically destroyed using a 23G injection needle. Nuclear DNA was extracted, and the 18S rRNA region was sequenced in 15 standard-sized eggs and 15 large-sized eggs. The average size of standard-sized eggs (T. trichiura) was 55.2×26.1 ㎛ (range: 51.7-57.6×21.3-28.0 ㎛; n=97), whereas the size of large-sized eggs was 69.3×32.0 ㎛ (range: 65.1-76.4×30.1-34.5 ㎛; n=20), slightly smaller than the known size of T. vulpis. Regarding standard-sized eggs, the 18S rRNA nucleotide sequences exhibited 100% homology with T. trichiura deposited in GenBank and 88.6-90.5% homology with T. vulpis. Regarding large-sized eggs, the nucleotide sequences showed 99.8-100% homology with T. trichiura in GenBank and 89.6-90.7% homology with T. vulpis. Both standard- and large-sized eggs of Trichuris spp. found in Myanmar schoolchildren during 2017-2019 were morphologically and molecularly confirmed to belong to T. trichiura. The conversion of eggs from smaller to large sizes might be due to anthelmintic treatments with albendazole.
