  • This paper presents an active roll motion control of a passenger vehicle. The roll controller is designed in the framework of $H_{\infty}$ control scheme based on the 3 DOF vehicle model taking into consideration parameter variations, which affect the roll dynamics, and unmodeled high frequency dynamics for robustness and performance. In order to investigate the feasibility of the active roll control system in a car, its performance is evaluated by simulation in a full vehicle model with nonlinear tire characteristics under various operating conditions. Finally, in order to enhance the performance in a transient region taking into account the limited bandwidth of the actuating module, a hybrid control strategy is presented.

  • When the multiple video sources are together transmitted through the channel of fixed bandwidth, the efficiently picture quality method is necessary. This paper presents the picture quality control method to keep the same distortion level among the video sources. We first find a model of distortion and bitrate for the multiplexing system of multiple sources. Then we obtain the bitrate for each source to have same distortion level among the sources by using the approximated model parameters for simple implementation.

  • The real time monitoring of the power systems covering wide area are essential for the stable operation and control of the power system. Synchronized phasor measurement is a key for the precise monitoring and control of the power systems. In this paper, to suggest an appropriate network topology of Power Infrastructure Defense System(PIDS) and to estimate the maximum network bandwidth with using the network analyzer, we simulate a PIDS and analyze the network traffic.

  • Packet losses in the Internet can dramatically degrade quality of multimedia streams. Forward Error Correction (FEC) is one of the best methods that can protect data from packet erasures by means of sending additional redundant information. Proposed control algorithm provides the possibility of receiving real-time multimedia streams of given quality wifth minimal traffic overhead. The traffic optimization is reached by adjusting packet size as well as block code parameters. Calculations and simulation results show that for non-bursty network conditions traffic optimization can lead to more than 50% bandwidth reduction.

  • In this paper, we propose a development of internet teleoperation method applying QoS model, which has the real time control capability and the time-delay predicting capability, The QoS model gives a constant bandwidth to a specified application and makes the dynamically irregular time-delay to be predictable and fined so that it can have real-time capability.

  • This paper discusses a observer based discrete-time controller design and presents a modified control structure for dual-stage hard disk drive systems using piezoelectric microactuator(MA). In plant modeling, dynamic coupling between VCM and MA is not considered. Each controller is organized independently and designed using pole placement. Simulation result shows that 4th-order controller achieves about 3kHz servo bandwidth and 0.22msec of 2% settling time.

  • In the rehabilitation robotic arm systems for the disabled with spinal code injury, EMG signals are used in the control of the robotic arm. EMG signals are corrupted by many kinds of noises such as ECG signal, power noise and contact noise of electrode. Noise rejection improves the performance of the EMG pattern classification. In this paper, a variable bandwidth filter (VBF) and wavelet transform are used for the noise rejection of EMG signals and the comparison of SNR is given. Also, some statistical characteristics of features are investigated.

  • The wireless communication network is evolving toward the Personal Communication System to provide various multimedia services. In order to accomplish this goal, the effective schemes are required which can dynamically utilize the limited wireless resources based on traffic characteristics of each services. This paper proposes a novel call admission control scheme for the hierarchical macrocell/microcell structured PCS. It is based on the bandwidth reservation procedure performed in the macrocell or neighboring microcell. Its effectiveness is investigated by simulation.

  • HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) Adaptive Streaming is gaining attention because it changes bitrates to adapt changing network conditions. Since HAS (HTTP Adaptive Streaming) client downloads the video data based on TCP (Transmission Control Protocol), it estimates incorrectly the available bandwidth and leads to an unnecessary video quality change in long-delay networks. In this paper, we propose a buffer-based quality control scheme in order to improve the service quality and smooth playback in the HAS. The proposed scheme estimates accurately the available bandwidth based on a modified streaming model that considers network delay. It also calculates the sustainability of the video quality to prevent an unnecessary quality change and determines the inter-request time on the basis of the buffer status. Through the simulation, we prove that our scheme improves the QoS (Quality of Service) of the HAS service and controls the video quality smoothly in long-delay networks.
