QoS is a subject of high interest for successful deployment of various services in a home gateway and the gateway is possible to support QoS by installing existing queuing disciplines, which control the outgoing traffic to guarantee only QoS of the traffic. But m the home gateway it is also important to guarantee QoS of the incoming traffic. This paper proposes an adaptive control of the traffic to guarantee QoS of incoming traffic into the home gateway. In the proposed method, the upper limit of the available bandwidth of sending rate varies with receiving rate. And the proposed method makes the gap between the allocated rate and the actual service rate of the traffic narrow. Some experiments on a test bed show that the proposed method is valid.

Differentiated services (DiffServ) has been widely accepted as the service model to adopt for providing quality-ofservice (QoS) over the next-generation IP networks. There is a growing need to support QoS in mobile ad hoc networks. Supporting DiffServ in mobile ad hoc networks, however, is very difficult because of the dynamic nature of mobile ad hoc networks, which causes network congestion. The network congestion induces long transfer packet delay and low throughput which make it very difficult to support QoS in mobile ad hoc networks. We propose DiffServ module to support differentiated service in mobile ad hoc networks through congestion control. Our DiffServ module uses the periodical rate control for real time traffic and also uses the best effort bandwidth concession when network congestion occurs. Network congestion is detected by measuring the packet transfer delay or bandwidth threshold of real time traffic. We evaluate our mechanism via a simulation study. Simulation results show our mechanism may offer a low and stable delay and a stable throughput for real time traffic in mobile ad hoc networks.

This paper presents a new velocity estimation strategy of a non-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive without high frequency signal injection or special PWM pattern. This approach is based on the d-axis current regulator output voltage of the drive system that has the information of rotor position error. The rotor velocity can be estimated through a rotor position tracking PI controller that controls the position error to zero. For zero and low speed operation, PI controller gains of rotor position tracking controller have a variable structure according to the estimated rotor velocity. In order to boost the bandwidth of PI controller around zero speed, a loop recovery technique is applied to the control system. The proposed method only requires the flux linkage of permanent magnet and is insensitive to the parameter estimation error and variation. The designers can easily determine the possible operating range with a desired bandwidth and perform the vector control even at low speeds. The experimental results show the satisfactory operation of the proposed sensorless algorithm under rated load conditions.
Usually the static scheduling algorithms such as DMS (Deadline Monotonic Scheduling) or RMS(Rate Monotonic Scheduling) are used for CAN scheduling due to its ease with implementation. However, due to their inherently low utilization of network media, some dynamic scheduling approaches have been studied to enhance the utilization. In case of dynamic scheduling algorithms, two considerations are needed. The one is a priority inversion due to rough deadline encoding into stricted arbitration fields of CAN. The other is an arbitration delay due to the non-preemptive feature of CAN. In this paper, an extended algorithm is proposed from an existing EDS(Earliest Deadline Scheduling) approach of CAN scheduling algorithm haying a solution to the priority inversion. In the proposed algorithm, the available bandwidth of network media can be checked dynamically by all nodes. Through the algorithm, arbitration delay causing the miss of their deadline can be avoided in advance. Also non real-time messages can be processed with their bandwidth allocation. The proposed algorithm can achieve full network utilization and enhance aperiodic responsiveness, still guaranteeing the transmission of periodic messages.

A single-phase grid-connected PV system is known as suitable for housing of less than 3 kW. The DC link voltage in a single-phase PV system has necessarily twice component of fundamental wave. It makes high THD in the grid current. According to the problem, power quality is lower. Many engineers have studied about this problem. The most simple method is to use low pass filter on DC link voltage control. However it is affected by DC link voltage control bandwidth. If cutoff frequency is reduced to increase the performance of low pass filter, it also lowers DC link voltage control bandwidth. Second method is using band stop filter, it works good on steady state but not good on transient state. This paper proposes the new method for removing ripple voltage to get an exact current reference. It improves the responses on steady state and transient state. The performance was verified through computer simulation using MATLAB and actual experiments.

This study proposes a triple-loop current control method for the auxiliary power unit of fuel cell trains. The auxiliary power unit of fuel cell trains has a grid-connected function when power is supplied to the utility grid. Moreover, the auxiliary power unit of trains has a 1500 V DC link voltage; thus, PWM frequency cannot be increased to a high frequency. Owing to this low PWM frequency condition, creating a triple-loop design is difficult. In this study, a triple-loop controller is developed for a capacitor voltage controller in standalone mode that operates as an auxiliary power supply for trains and for a grid current controller in grid control mode with an inner capacitor voltage controller. The voltage controller employs an inductor current controller inner loop. To overcome low PWM frequency, a design method for the bandwidth of the capacitor voltage controller considering the bandwidth of the inner inductor current controller is described. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proven using PSIM simulation.

In wireless networks, the packet loss due to the bit error is misinterpreted as loss due to the congestion state, so TCP congestion control occurs frequently and performance degradation occurs. This degradation also occurs in MPTCP(Multipath TCP), which is an extension protocol of original TCP. In MPTCP, the overall performance of the multipath is degraded. In this paper, we propose a congestion control scheme which measures the bandwidth on each path of MPTCP and reduces the congestion window size by the measured bandwidth when packet loss occurs, in order to solve the MPTCP performance degradation in the wireless environment. We also implemented the proposed congestion control in the Linux kernel and compared it with the original MPTCP in the testbed and real wireless networks. Experimental results show that the proposed congestion control has better throughput performance than original MPTCP congestion control in the wireless environment.
This paper proposes and analyzes an error control scheme for the transmission control based real-time communication, such as FDDI, TDMA, and wireless LAN, which delivers the message according to the round robin fashion after the off-line bandwidth allocation. Taking into account the time constraint of each message, the proposed error control scheme makes the receiver transmit the error report via asynchronous traffic while the sender resend the requested message via overallocated access time which is inevitably introduced by the bandwidth allocation procedure for hard real -time guarantee. The error control procedure does not interfere other real -time message transmissions. In addition, as each frame contains the size of the message it belongs, the receiver can recognize the end of completion of message transmission. This enables earlier error report to the receiver so that the sender can cope with more network errors. The analysis results along with simulation performed via SMPL show that the proposed scheme is able to enhance the deadline meet ratio of messages by overcoming the network errors. Using the proposed error control scheme, the hard real -time network can be built at cost lower than, but performance comparable to the expensive dual link network.

Adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming technology has become an important and prevalent feature in many multimedia delivery systems, with content providers such as Netflix and Amazon using ABR streaming to increase bandwidth efficiency and provide the maximum user experience when channel conditions are not ideal. Where such systems could see improvement is in the delivery of live video with a closed loop cognitive control of video encoding. In this paper, we present streaming camera system which provides spatially and temporally adaptive video streams, learning the user's preferences in order to make intelligent scaling decisions. The system employs a hardware based H.264/AVC encoder for video compression. The encoding parameters can be configured by the user or by the cognitive system on behalf of the user when the bandwidth changes. A cognitive video client developed in this study learns the user's preferences(i.e. video size over frame rate) over time and intelligently adapts encoding parameters when the channel conditions change. It has been demonstrated that the cognitive decision system developed has the ability to control video bandwidth by altering the spatial and temporal resolution, as well as the ability to make scaling decisions.

Since the internet is intend to be the best effort service, the system that stream a large amount of high quality medias need a techniques to overcome the network status for implementation. In this paper, we design and implement a method that estimate quickly whether network permits the needed bandwidth of media and a method that control QoS through that. Presented system uses Relative One-Way Delay(ROWD) trend in the case of the former, and leverages temporal encoding among Scalable Video Coding(SVC) that is apt to apply real time comparatively in the case of the latter. The streaming server classifies the medias by real time to several rates and begins transmission from top-level and is reported ROWD trend periodically from the client. In case of the server reported only 'Increase Trend', the sever decides that the current media exceeds the available bandwidth and downgrades the next media level. The system uses probe packet of difference quantity of the target level and the present level for upgrading the media level. In case of the server reported only 'No Increase Trend' by the ROWD trend response of the probe packet from client, the media level is upgraded. The experiment result in a fiber to the home(FTTH) environment shows progress that proposed system adapts faster in change of available bandwidth and shows that quality of service also improves.
