Chimera 격자기법을 이용한 자동차 주위의 유동장 해석 (Analysis of the flow field around an automobile with Chimera grid technique)

  • This paper describes the analysis of flow field around an automobile. The governing equations of the 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the iterative time marching scheme. The Chimera grid technique has been applied to efficiently simulate the flow around the side-view mirror. To validate the capability of simulating the flow around a ground vehicle, the flows around the Ahmed body with 12.5$^{\circ}$ and 30$^{\circ}$ of slant angles are simulated and good agreements with experiment and other numerical results are achieved. To validate Chimera grid technique, the flow field around a cylinder was also calculated. The computed results are also well agreed with other numerical results and experiment. After code validations, the flow phenomena around the ground vehicle are evidently shown. The flow around the side-view mirror is also well simulated using the Chimera grid technique.

  • 2차인 압축성/비압축성 Navier-Stokes 방정식은 이용하여 DCA 압푹기 익렬의 수치 해석을 수행하고 실험치와 비교 검토하였다. SIMPLE 알고리즘을 적용한 비압축성 코드는 대류항의 이산화에 하이브리드 도식을 진동해를 방지하기 위해 집중격자 기법을 사용하였다. 압축성 코드는 예조건화 기법 을 적용하였으며 공간 이산화출 위해 풍상 차분법을, 시간 적분을 위해서는 LU-SGS 기법을 사용하였다. 또한 난류 점성 유동장을 해석하기 위해 Baldwin-Lomax, standard $\kappa$ -$\varepsilon$, $\kappa$ -$\varepsilon$ Lam. Bremhorst, standard $\kappa$-$\omega$, $\kappa$ -$\omega$ SST 모델 등의 난류 모델을 적용하여 각 모델들의 특성을 살펴보았다.

자유표면을 포함한 선체주위 난류유동 해석 (Computation of Turbulent Flow around a Ship Model with Free-Surface)

  • 본 논문에서는 비압축성 Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes 방정식을 수치 해석하여 자유표면을 포함한 선체 주위의 난류 유동을 계산하였다. 정규격자 상에서 공간의 이산화는 2차 정도의 유한차분법을, 시간의 적분에는 4단계 Runge-Kutta법을 이용하였고, 난류 닫힘 조건을 만족시키기 위해 Baldwin-Lomax 난류 모형을 사용하였다. 자유표면의 위치는 운동학적 경계조건식을 Lax-Wendroff법으로 풀어서 구하였고, 자유표면과 격자 경계면을 일치시키기 위해 매 시간마다 새로 계산된 자유표면 위치에 맞추어 격자를 새로 구성하였다. 속도와 압력에 대한 경계조건은 자유표면에서 점성을 무시하여 근사한 동역학적 조건을 적용해서 구하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 수치해법을 검증하기 위하여 실험자료가 많은 Wigley 선형과 Sries 60 $C_B=0.6$ 선형에 대해 수치계산을 수행하였고 계산된 선체 주위의 파형이 실험 결과와 잘 일치하는 것을 확인하였다.

선체주위 난류유동장의 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Turbulent Flow Fields around Ships)

  • Three dimensional turbulent flow fields around ships are simulated by a numerical method. Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are used where Reynolds stresses are approximated by Baldwin-Lomax and Sub-Grid Scale(SGS) turbulence models. Body-fitted coordinate system is introduced to conform three dimensional ship geometries. The governing equations are discretized by a finite volume method. Temporal derivatives are approximated by the forward differencing and the convection terms are approximated by the QUICK or Kawamura scheme. The 2nd-order centered differencing is used for other spatial derivatives. Pressure and velocity fields are simultaneously iterated by the Highly Simplified Marker-And-Cell method. To verify the numerical method and turbulence models, flow fields around ships are simulated and compared to the experiments.

  • Aerodynamic sensitivity analysis codes are developed via the hand-differentiation using a direct differentiation method and an adjoint method respectively from discrete two-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Unlike previous other researches, Baldwin-Lomax algebraic turbulence model is also differentiated by hand to obtain design sensitivities with respect to design variables of interest in turbulent flows. Discrete direct sensitivity equations and adjoint equations are efficiently solved by the same time integration scheme adopted in the flow solver routine. The required memory for the adjoint sensitivity code is greatly reduced at the cost of the computational time by allowing the large banded flux jacobian matrix unassembled. Direct sensitivity code results are found to be exactly coincident with sensitivity derivatives obtained by the finite difference. Adjoint code results of a turbulent flow case show slight deviations from the exact results due to the limitation of the algebraic turbulence model in implementing the adjoint formulation. However, current adjoint sensitivity code yields much more accurate sensitivity derivatives than the adjoint code with the turbulence eddy viscosity being kept constant, which is a usual assumption for the prior researches.

CFD에 의한 2차원 지면 효과익 주위의 난류유동계산 (Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Flow around 2-D Airfoils in Ground Effect)

  • 지면효과를 받는 2차원 날개 주위의 난류유동을 비압축성 RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes) 방정식과 유한차분법(Finite Difference Method)을 이용하여 해석하였다. 높은 레이놀즈수에 효과적인 Baldwin-Lomax 난류모델을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 지면효과를 받는 2차원 날개단면에서의 각기 다른 두 바닥 경계조건(이동지면, 고정지면)에 따른 유동의 특성을 파악하는 것이다. Clark-Y(t/C 11.7%)날개단면의 계산 결과와 발표된 계산결과 및 실험 값과의 비교를 통해 본 수치해석 프로그램의 정확성을 검증하였다. NACA4412 날개단면에 대해 지면과의 높이변화에 대해서 두 바닥 경계조건에 대해서 유동해석을 수행하였다 계산결과에 의하면 이동지면과 고정지면에 대해서 양력과 모멘트는 별 차이가 없으나 항력은 고정지면의 경우가 이동지면의 경우보다 다소 작았다. 따라서 풍동시험에서 고정지면의 결과는 이동지면에 비해 상대적으로 저항이 낮게 평가될 가능성이 있다고 본다.

A Computational Study on Turbulent Flows around Single and Tandem Two-Dimensional Hydrofoils with Shallow Submergence

  • Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are numerically solved using a secondorder finite difference method for the analysis of turbulent flows around single and tandem hydrofoils advancing under the free surface. The location of the free surface, not known a priori, is computed from the kinematic free surface condition and the computational grid is conformed at each iteration to the free surface deformation. The eddy viscosity model of Baldwin-Lomax is employed for the turbulence closure. The method is validated through the comparision of the numerical results with the experimental data for a single hydrofoil of a Joukowski foil section. A computational study is also carried out to investigate the effect of the submergence depth and the Froude number on the lift and the drag of the hydrofoil. For tandem hydrofoils, computations are performed for several separation distances between the forward and aft foils to see the interference effect. The result shows clearly how the lift and drag change with the separation distance.

  • The flow field around a three dimensional minivan-like body has been simulated. This study solves 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on a non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system using second-order accurate schemes for the time derivatives, and third/second-order scheme for the spatial derivatives. The Marker-and-Cell concept is applied to efficiently solve continuity equation. The fourth -order artificial damping is added to the continuity equation for numerical stability. A H-H type multi-block grid system is generated around a three dimensional minivan-like body. Turbulent flows have been modeled by the Baldwin-Lomax turbulent model. The simulation shows three dimensional vortex-pair just behind body. And the flow separation is also observed the rear of the body. It has concluded that the results of present study properly agree with physical flow phenomena.

  • The numerical procedure has been developed for simulating incompressible viscous flow around a turbine stage with rotor-stator interaction. This study solves 2-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on a non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system. The Marker-and-Cell concept is applied to efficiently solve continuity equation. To impose an accurate boundary condition, O-H multiblocked grid system is generated. O-type grid and H-type grid is generated near and outer rotor-stator The cubic-spline interpolation is applied to handle a relative motion of a rotor to the stator. Turbulent flows have been modeled by the Baldwin- Lomax turbulent model. To validate present procedure, the time averaged pressure coefficients around the rotor and stator are compared with experiment and a good agreement obtained.

  • The transient response of an airfoil to a rapidly deploying spoiler is numerically investigated using the turbulent compressible Navier-Stokes equations in two dimensions. Algebraic Baldwin-Lomax model, Wilcox $\kappa-\omega$ model, and SST $\kappa-\omega$ turbulence model are used to calculate the unsteady separated flow due to the rapid spoiler deployment. The spoiler motion relative to a stationary airfoil is treated by an overset grid hounded by a Dynamic Domain-Dividing Line which has been devised by the authors. The adverse effects of the spoiler influenced by the spoiler location and the hinge gap are expounded. The numerical results are in reasonably good agreement with the existing experimental data.
