The development of solar thermal energy used adsorption desalination technology have been examined as a viable option for supplying clean energy. In this study, the modelling of the main devices for solar thermal energy used and adsorption desalination system was introduced. Silica gel type adsorption desalination system is considered to be a promising low-temperature heat utilization system. The design is divided into three parts. First, the evaporator for the vaporization of the tap water is designed, and then the reactor for the adsorption and release of the steam is designed, followed by the condenser for the condensation of the fresh water is designed. In addition, new features based on the energy balance are also included to design absorption desalination system. In this basic research, One-bed(reactor) adsorption desalination plant that employ a low-temperature solar thermal energy was proposed and experimentally studied. The specific water yield is measured experimentally with respect to the time controlling parameters such as heat source temperatures, coolant temperatures, system switching and half-cycle operational times. Desalination is processes that permeate our daily lives, but It requires substantial energy input, powered either from electricity or from thermal input. From the environmental and sustainability perspecives, innovative thermodynamic cycles are needed to produce the above-mentioned useful effects at a lower specific energy input. This article describes the development of adsorption cycles for the production of desalting effects. We want that this adsorption system can be driven by low temperature heat sources at 60 to $80^{\circ}C$, such as renewable, solar thermal energy.

In this study, a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system model including balance of plant (BOP) for building electric power generation is developed to study the effect of operating conditions on the system efficiency and power output. SOFC system modeled in this study consists of three heat-exchangers, an external reformer, burner, and two blowers. A detailed computational cell model including internal reforming reaction is developed for a planer SOFC stack which is operated at intermediate temperature (IT). The BOP models including an external reformer, heat-exchangers, a burner, blowers, pipes are developed to predict the gas temperature, pressure drops and flow rate at every component in the system. The SOFC stack model and BOP models are integrate to estimate the effect of operating parameters on the performance of the system. In this study, the design of experiment (DOE) is used to compare the effects of fuel flow rate, air flow rate, air temperature, current density, and recycle ratio of anode off gas on the system efficiency and power output.

The first technological advance to improve the output and efficiency of the latest steam turbines operating in co-generation plants in Korea can be said to be progress in the field of materials that can use high-temperature, high-pressures steam. As a result of design efforts to improve the internal efficiency of steam turbines along with the development of materials, only a few manufacturers of steam turbine have produced high efficiency steam turbines. The internal efficiency of a steam turbine on the steam path operating for a long period of time is gradually lost owing to the limit of mechanical life, and efficiency and output decrease. Therefore, this study aims to develop a model that can analyze the steam flow path performance of HP (High Pressure) and IP (Intermediate Pressure) steam turbine for a co-generation plant using a commercial program and propose a performance calculation method. Owing to the complex performance calculation method of steam turbines, major variables are presented to serve as practically useful references for steam turbine practitioners. In addition, the thermal dynamic analysis(such as heat balance diagram calculation) and the the thermal dynamic calculation required for steam turbine performance calculation and the suitability of the steam turbine performance calculation results were compared with the performance test results.
Ventilation rates, inside and outside weather data were measured in a arch-shape single-span plastic greenhouse growing tomatoes. On the roof of the experimental greenhouse, round windows which have a diameter of 0.6 m were installed at intervals of 8m. It showed that the number of air changes in this greenhouse were average 0.17 volumes per minute and in the range of 0.02 to 0.32 volumes per minute. These air changes are insufficient to meet the recommended ventilation rate for commercial greenhouses, and it is estimated that interval of 6 m is appropriate for spring or fall season. For summer season, it is necessary to narrow the space or to enlarge the open area of roof windows. Using the heat balance model, the evapotranspiration coefficients of greenhouse tomatoes were estimated from experimental ventilation data, overall heat transfer and solar radiation. It showed that the evapotranspiration coefficients were average 0.62 and in the 0.39 to 0.85 range. We suggest applying 0.6 as the evapotranspiration coefficient in design of ventilation for the single-span tomato greenhouses.
The areas for agricultural purposes in Korea are decreasing every year because of urbanization. However, it is still 17.6% of the total national boundary on 2008. Most of the rice paddy fields are located near the waterbodies which require lots of water during rainy season from May to September. Also lots of nitrate and phosphate chemical fertilizers are spread on the fields every year in order to supply the nutrients for vegetation. The excess nutrients is impairs the water quality of rivers and lakes when it is washed out from the fields. The Korean Ministry of Environment (MOE) adapted the new water quality improvement program, which is the Total Daily Maximum Load, to improve the water quality and to protect the aquaecosystems. The constructed wetland is one of the possible ways to treat the agricultural runoff. The constructed wetland on this study area was constructed by MOE in 2007 to evaluate the application of the constructed wetlands. Plant growth continues to increase during the summer until it reaches its highest biomass of 6,032 g/$m^2$ in August and September. More researches about sedimentation, vegetation, water balance, etc. were performed to evaluate the removal efficiency, to find the removal mechanisms and to make the guidelines for design and maintenance.
As the development of national lands increase, the necessity to develop less favorable terrain also increases. It also becomes more difficult and complicated to provide access that is both economical and safe from contributing to soil erosion on roadsides and to londscape damages. Because of the increased and justified emphasis upon environmental degradation, proper stabilization of the cut-and bank slopes of roadsides, plant sites and building sites in Korea requires careful planning as well as execution of the constructions. All fill slopes should be compacted to a degree consistent with design standards and material properties. Drainage facilities should be provided to prevent damaging concentrations of surface runoff and to avoid high pore pressures in cuts and fills. All surfaces of cut-fill slopes should be revegetated with suitable species as soon as possible after construction. To stabilize the cut-fill slopes of highway roadsides should be considerded the factor of stabilization as well as landscape conservation especially. Such basic influences as the effects of vegetations on water balance of rain fall, on the control of surface erosion and on the surface slope failures are briefly discussed in the report.
It is essential in commercial reactors that the safety limits imposed on the fuel pellets and fuel clad barriers, such as the linear power density (LPD) and the departure from nucleate boiling ratio (DNBR), are not violated during reactor operations. In order to accurately monitor the safety limits of current reactor states, a detailed three-dimensional (3D) core power distribution should be estimated from the in-core detector signals. In this paper, we propose a calculation methodology for detailed 3D core power distribution, using in-core detector signals and core monitoring constants such as the 3D Coupling Coefficients (3DCC), node power fraction, and pin-to-node factors. Also, the calculation method for several core safety parameters is introduced. The core monitoring constants for the real core state are promptly provided by the core design code and on-line MASTER (Multi-purpose Analyzer for Static and Transient Effects of Reactors), coupled with the core monitoring program. through the plant computer, core state variables, which include reactor thermal power, control rod bank position, boron concentration, inlet moderator temperature, and flow rate, are supplied as input data for MASTER. MASTER performs the core calculation based on the neutron balance equation and generates several core monitoring constants corresponding to the real core state in addition to the expected core power distribution. The accuracy of the developed method is verified through a comparison with the current CECOR method. Because in all the verification calculation cases the proposed method shows a more conservative value than the best estimated value and a less conservative one than the current CECOR and COLSS methods, it is also confirmed that this method secures a greater operating margin through the simulation of the YGN-3 Cycle-1 core from the viewpoint of the power peaking factor for the LPD and the pseudo hot pin axial power distribution for the DNBR calculation.

A biofilm filtration for the removal of gaseous pollutants has been recognized as a process with a complex interaction between the gas flow characteristics and the process operating variables. This study aims to develop an one dimensional dynamic numerical model which can be utilized as a tool for the analysis of biofilm filtration process operated in plug flow mode. Since, in a plug flow system, minor environmental changes in a gaseous unit process cause a drastic change in reaction and the interaction between the pollutants is an influencing factor, plug flow system was generalized in developing the model. For facilitation of the model development, dispersion was simplified based on the principles of material balance. Several reactions such as competition, escalation, and control between the pollutants were included in the model. The applicability of the developed model was evaluated by taking the calibration and verification steps on the experimental data performed for the removal of BTX at both low and high flow concentration. The model demonstrated a correlation coefficient ($R^2$) greater than 0.79 under all the experimental conditions except for the case of toluene at high flow condition, which suggested that this model could be used for the generalized gaseous biofilm plug flow filtration system. In addition, this model could be a useful tool in analyzing the design parameters and evaluating process efficiency of the experiments with substantial amount of complexity and diversity.

This study concerns the Baekje Traditional Garden, one of the open spaces in the Lotte Resort in the Baekje Historical Reappearance Complex, which is part of the comprehensive plan for specific areas in the Baekje cultural area. The Baekje Traditional Garden has historic value, and its excellent garden style influenced the ancient Japanese gardens. This study dealt with three issues: (1) The context in which Lotte Buyeo Resort accepted the Baekje Traditional Garden, particularly the background and process of such; (2) The original form of the Baekje Traditional Garden; and (3) How the Baekje Traditional Garden should be represented in the open space of the resort. Representation is accomplished in two ways: using the structure of the original garden and in the borrowing of elements. For representation using the structure of the original garden, Imrugak was used as the main entrance space, and Wolsunjung was represented from the Ganbuklee remains. In the rear garden are wave watercourses and other garden facilities of the Wanggungri site in Iksan. Borrowing of elements, on the other hand, was accomplished in the plant plan and detailed development. In addition, mountaintops (three mountains and five mountain summits), a clean stream between mountains, and a pine forest are visualized in the garden. This is the representative landscape of the Taoist hermit world that appeared in the Baekje Gilt Bronze Incense Burner and Landscape pattern. The significance of this study is twofold. First, the Baekje Traditional Garden is a fresh trail because there has been no previous research concerning it. Second, while past research concerning traditional spaces focused on the results of representation, this study focused on the process of representation. This means that this research work tried to extend the study concerning the representation of traditional spaces from the conceptual to the practical approach. This study, however, also has its limitations. The authenticity of the representation suggested in this study may be questioned later because efforts have been made to preserve the original Baekje Traditional Garden. In addition, this study should seek a balance between authenticity on one hand and amusement and diversity of experience on the other, because the site is a resort.
