  • This study was a correlation study to analyze the effects of smartphone usage time on food choice perceptions and behavior in middle school students in Seoul areas. The subjects to be surveyed were middle school students attending junior high schools in Mapo-gu, Seoul. A total of 133, 102, and 102 students were in the first second, and third grades, respectively. The usage time of smartphones was the weekday and weekend usage time except for the call function. Food choice perception and its behavior as dietary habits were constructed referring to previous research and food balance wheels data for the correct dietary habits of the Ministry of Health & Welfare and Korean Nutrition Society. The food choice behavior was categorized into non-recommended food and recommended food. The results are summarized as follows. First, the longer the time spent on smartphones, the less favorable the perception of correct food choices. Second, the higher the dependence on smartphones, the less favorable the perception of correct food choices. Third, the correct perception of food choices has been shown to reduce food choices, known as non-recommended foods. In addition, proper perception of food choices has been shown to increase the choice of recommended foods. In conclusion, the usage time and reliance of smartphones of middle school students was found to affect the food choice behavior by lowering the perception of correct food choices. This research is expected to form the basis for the development of programs and educational materials that can be of assistance to adolescents who are experiencing difficulties.

  • To investigate the image, preference, importance and satisfaction of foreign visitors to Korean foods, 220 visitors (male 104, female 115) were surveyed with questionnaires in English and Japanese. To achieve this research purpose, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, t-test, and one way ANOVA was performed using the SPSS 15.0 program. Subjects had various nationality such as Europe/Oceania (24.7%/), Asia (23.3%), Africa (12.8), and North America (39.3). The representative food was kimchi > bibimbop > bulgogi but the most favorite food was bibimbop > kalbi > bulgogi in order. Like this, there are some discrepancies among the food choice, especially in kimchi, so the taste of kimchi should be improved according to the foreigners' taste. The results of the preference about the image get the high grade from those factors; the resonable price of Korean food, the spicy taste, various kinds of food according to the settings of the table, good for the health with excellent taste. Foreigners consider that the cleanliness of food and tableware, the sanitation of the restaurants, the taste of the food and freshness of ingredients are the important factors in Korean food and Korean restaurants. According to these factors, the satisfaction is affected by the attitude of servers > the taste of the food > the freshness of the ingredients > the amount of the food > the atmosphere of the restaurants > the cleanliness of the tableware in order. From the relationship between the importance and the satisfaction, the low grade food should improve the color and styling of the food and be served the appropriate amount of the food. Moreover, it is needed to improve the combining the spices and the ingredients to maintain a balance between strong and delicate flavors and with this, Korean food should be more globalized to promote the development of Korea tourism.

  • This paper investigates spatial distribution of the knowledge-information occupations by utilizing Geographical Information System(GIS). The knowledge-information occupations, comprised mainly of professionals, engineers and managers, have played a key role in the knowledge-based information society. The uneven development of bureaucratization and informatization among regions have resulted in unequal spatial distribution of the knowledge-information occupations. Analysis of 1995 and 2000 Census shows that these occupations tend to concentrate in some major metropolitan areas, while the other areas show rather traditional occupational structure. This spatial unequality has been also found in the occupational distribution within Seoul. This tendency of spatial concentration in the occupational distribution inherited from the industrial society and is not going to diminish in the knowledge-information society. More aggressive policies to make the most of decentralizing impacts of information and communication technologies should be implemented to counter-balance this tendency.

  • With the development of Information Communication Technology (ICT), diverse work policies, such as, telework, telecommuting, flexible work had been conceptualized and implemented to encourage efficient business practices and worker satisfaction. These work policies are the forerunners of newly emerging concept of "Smart Work." However, as smart work is a new concept, no single agreeable definition can be found. In this study, the relevant literatures published in past 15 years are reviewed systematically in order to derive a conceptual framework for "Smart Work," from related research, such as telecommuting, flexible time, telework, etc. Related variables are grouped into five clusters: Task, Technology, People, Organization Structure and Managerial Levers, forming a policy and research framework. Further research are suggested after the discussion of implications.

  • In this study, we investigated the nitrification/denitrification rate and classification of output nitrogen of a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system with the variation of COD loads ; COD loads of 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0 and $1.2kgCOD/m^3{\cdot}d$ were tested to determine the optimum conditions for the operation of the SBR and increase its nitrogen removal efficiency. As the COD loads increased, the nitrification rate at aerobic(I) period and the denitrification rate at anoxic(I) period were decreased. With the variation of COD loads, the amounts of nitrogen removed in the clarified water effluent were 63.9, 54.2, 34.7, 22.5, 13.7, 12.5 and 26.5 mg/cycle, respectively. The amounts of nitrogen removed during the sludge waste process were 19.5, 26.6, 41.0, 47.3, 58.1, 72.4 and 88.1 mg/cycle, respectively. The amounts of nitrogen removed by denitrification were 66.8, 69.3, 68.9, 56.5, 39.5, 7.3 and 0.0 mg/cycle, respectively, indicating that COD load more than $0.7kgCOD/m^3{\cdot}d$ decreases the amounts of denitrified nitrogen. The nitrogen mass balances were calculated as the percentages of nitrogen removed in the clarified water effluent or by denitrification and sludge waste processing in each cycle of SBR operation and were 99.0, 98.5, 95.4, 82.1, 73.0, 60.5 and 74.8% for COD loads of 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0 and $1.2kgCOD/m^3{\cdot}d$, respectively.

  • Environmental education as worldwide sustainable education is effective when it is carried out as early as possible. But we do not have any aims and textbooks for environmental education in the elementary school. The purpose of this study is systematizing environmental syllabus as sustainable education. To achieve this purpose, firstly, the meaning of environmental education as sustainable education was conceptualized, secondly, the aims of environmental education was set up, thirdly, domains of environmental education was revised, and lastly, the syllabus for environmental instruction were created for each grade. Literature review was practiced over 143 textbooks and teacher's guidebooks from the 4th to 7th curriculum period. The result of this study follows. First, environmental education as sustainable education in the elementary school was conceptualized as an integrative education to keep the lifelong education and welfare. Second, the synthetic aim of environmental education as sustainable education in the elementary school was set up as 'cultivating desirable environmental people that behave for the sustainable future with environment-friendly value and attitude. Third, our environmental domains were divided into 11-12 independent areas, and ESSD (Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development) was located on the subcategory of environmental domain. These domains were revised into three environmental domains and five sub-domains. Fourth, according to the aims of environmental education as sustainable education and five environmental domains, 253 objectives were established. Fifth, objectives of environmental education of 10 subject matters and integrative objectives were presented. Sixth, based on the objectives of domains and subject matters, 255 contents for environmental education in the elementary school were abstracted and distributed to each grade in the consideration of balance among domains and appropriateness of grades. Seventh, analytic results of textbooks of 7th curriculum shows heavy stress on the 'knowledge perception' section and deficiency on the altitudes and behavior section. The environment-related level and contents overlapped and fragmented deeply. Furthermore, 33 parts of textbooks could bring to mis-concept on environment.

  • This study is to explore what kinds of leisure we really need in our competitive speed society and what the true leisure should be like. The present researcher analyzed the concept of serious casual leisure and its implications on our social values. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, we might have made a mistake paying too much attention to serious leisure while ignoring the value of casual leisure, because serious leisure has been thought to produce positive effects on self-development and social integration. It is important to note that casual leisure could not only satisfy human's need for balance in life and also contribute to her/his physical and psychological wellbeing. Second, In order to correct an error of sticking to the dichotomy of serious casual leisure, the concept of fast slow leisure, which defines leisure based on the way of its presentation, was also discussed. Third, the way of life which we considered unproductive should be reconsidered as it has a meaning in itself.

  • The feature of the hotel business as a labor intensive industry and its heavy dependence on man power is relatively bigger than other industries. the important factors influencing the customer`s decision making are tangible facilities and intangible service qualities. however, the changes in economic situation are also seriously influencing them. So hotels are started to find other IT(information technology) systems. BSC which has been recognized as one of barometers to establish management performance is one of them. The purpose of this study was to develop KPI(key performance indicator) by using the BSC(Balanced Scorecard) for evaluating hotel management performance. This thesis presents customer performance, inner process performance, learning and growing performance as non-financial factors and tries to examine the cause and effect in the hotel industry. Hotels have to know nonfinancial performance which has positively relate to financial performance. To introduce BSC system is not to lead increasing income and bettermenting service quality, satisfacting customer needa for hotels, But to lead developing value enhancement to hotel enterprises and present process.

  • The measurement of the radiation energy, trunk temperature, leaf area index (LAI), air temperature, vapor pres-sure, and precipitation has been conducted under a mixed forest at Kwangneung Arboretum during the period of 2001. Characteristics of the diurnal and seasonal variation of the radiative energy were investigated. The aerodynamic roughness length was determined as about 1.6 m and the mean albedo was about 0.1 The downward short-wave radiation was linearly correlated with the net radiation and its correlation coefficient was about 0.96. From this linear relation, the heating coefficient was calculated and its annual mean value was about 0.21 The albedo and heating coefficient was varied with season, surface characteristics, and meteorological conditions. The diurnal and seasonal variations of radiation energy were discussed in terms of the surface characteristics and meteorological conditions. In the daytime, during clear skies, net radiation was dominated by the shortwave radiation. In presence of clouds and fog, the radiation energy was diminished. At night, the net radiation was entirely dominated due to the net longwave radiation. There was no distinct diurnal variation in net radiation flux during the overcast or rainy days. The net radiation was strongest in spring and weakest in winter. The seasonal development in leaf area was also reflected in a strong seasonal pattern of the radiation energy balance. The timing, duration, and maximum leaf area and trunk temperature were found to be an important control on radiation energy budget. The trunk temperature was either equal or warmer than air temperature during most of the growing season because the canopy could absorb a substantial amount of sunlight. After autumn (after the middle of October), the trunk temperature was consistently cooler than air temperature.
