A study on the sintering condition and Electric properties of BST thick film (BST Tunable 후막 유전체의 소결과 유전 특성엘 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, Effect of $BaSrTiO_3/Li_2CO_3$ on low temperature sintering and dielectric property of thick films has been investigated for variable capacitor on high frequency. The thick films were fabricated by the tape casting and then the structural and dielectric properties as a function of an addition composition ratio and sintering temperature were studied. For the thick film sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$, it was densified to 96% of $BaSrTiO_3$ theoretical density by the addition of 10 $wt{\cdot}%$ $BaSrTiO_3/Li_2CO_3$. Dielectric constant increased and Curie temperature lowered with the increased of $BaSrTiO_3/Li_2CO_3$ content, which probably can be explained by the substitution of $Ba^{3+},Li^{1+}$ on $RaTiO_3$ lattice. The tunability and dielectric loss of the $BaSrTiO_3/Li_2CO_3$ thick film, sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$, were about 26% and 0.234 at $10{\sim}15MHz$, respectively.

Dielectric Relaxation Properties of 0.5Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3-0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 Ceramics with CuO Addition (CuO 첨가에 따른 0.5Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3-0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 세라믹스의 유전 이완 특성)

  • We investigated the dielectric relaxation properties $0.5Ba(Zr_{0.2}Ti_{0.8})O_3-0.5(Ba_{0.7}Ca_{0.3})TiO_3$ ceramics with CuO addition. With increasing CuO addition, the lattice parameter was increased by substitution of small amount $Cu^{2+}$ ion in B-site of $0.5Ba(Zr_{0.2}Ti_{0.8})O_3-0.5(Ba_{0.7}Ca_{0.3})TiO_3$ ceramics. Also the grain size and the maximum dielectric constant of $0.5Ba(Zr_{0.2}Ti_{0.8})O_3-0.5(Ba_{0.7}Ca_{0.3})TiO_3$ ceramics was decreased with increasing amounts of CuO addition. Moreover, the diffused phase transition properties (${\gamma}$) of $0.5Ba(Zr_{0.2}Ti_{0.8})O_3-0.5(Ba_{0.7}Ca_{0.3})TiO_3$ ceramics was increased by compositional fluctuation with increasing of CuO amount, changed from 1.45 at 1 wt% CuO addition to 1.94 at 7 wt% CuO addition.

  • $Y(Pr)Ba_2Cu_4O_8$ system is one of the most studied high temperature superconductors. Substitution of Pr for Y in this system suppresses $T_c$ and superconductivity finally disappears at a high Pr doping. There are competing theories for the suppression of $T_c$ but systematic experimental results are very rare. In order to find the change in Fermi surface topology which can affect the superconductivity, we have performed angle-resolved photoemission studies on single crystal samples of $YBa_2Cu_4O_8$ and $PrBa_2Cu_4O_8$. While the Fermi surface of $YBa_2Cu_4O_8$ shows a similar topology to those of other cuprates, we observe only 1D like band structures in $PrBa_2Cu_4O_8$. We find no significant differences in the chain band for both samples.

  • $Ba_{1-x}M_xGa_2S_4:Eu^{2+}$ (M = Ca, Sr) phosphor was prepared for white light emitting diodes application. Photoluminescence (PL) emission and excitation bands were red-shifted with increase of Ca and Sr content due to the crystal field effect. Moreover, the PL intensity under 450 nm was increased by substitution of Ca and Sr.

  • The electrical conductivity of $(M_2O_3)_x (BaTiO_3)_{1-x}$ has been measured over the temperature range of 30 to 27$0^{\circ}C$. The substitution of rare earth oxide such as $La_2O_3$, $Nd_2O_3$, or $Dy_2O_3$ can be represented by $M_2O_3$. The additional mole fraction of the rare earth oxide is ranged over 0.0015 to 0.0030. The electrical conductivity exhibits an anomalous decrease near the tetragonal to cubic transition about 12$0^{\circ}C$. The decrease in the electrical conductivity is observed at the higher impurity concentrations owing to space charge layer. The increase in the electrical conductivity is observed as the impurity ion is varied from $La^{+3}$$Nd^{+3}$ to $Dy^{+3}$, due to overlap of 4f electrons of the inner shell.

  • The humidity-sensitive specimens-(BaS11T-S1xTCaS1xT)TiOS13T, x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5-were fabricated by a solid-state reaction method which is easy in process control of microstructure and good in mass production, and their humidity-sensitive characteristics were examined. Ca inhibits grain growth and the open porosity increases with Ca substitution, and the specimens at x=0.5 show the best humidity sensitivity. Their humidity sensitivity is higher at the lower frequencies, and drift phenomenon in humidity sensitivity is exhibted with aging in the air, which disappears by a heat treatment. The electrical conduction with water adsorption is dominated by the ions, and the activation energy decreases with increasing relative humidity.

  • $({Ba}_{1-x}La_x)TiO_3,\;x=0{\sim}0.005$ specimens were fabricated by solid stste reaction method, and their PTC characteristics were examined. The gain growth is inhibited by La substitution, and it is confirmed that the specimens are crystallized at $900^{\circ}C$ from DTA analysis. The 0.003mol La substituded specimens show lowest resistivity and best PTC effects. Furthermore, the electrode sintered-specimens exhibite better PTC effects than no sintered-specimens.

  • Heats of solution of aniline (AN), benzylamine (BA), ethyl-(EBS) and 2-phenylethyl benzenesulfonates (PEB) are calorimetrically measured in acetonitrile-methanol mixtures at 25.0 $^{\circ}C$. The activation parameters, ${\Delta}H^{\neq}$, ${\Delta}S^{\neq}$ and ${\Delta}G^{\neq}$, are determined for the reactions of EBS and PEB with AN and BA using the kinetic data at three temperatures. Calorimetric transfer enthalpies of initial state, ${\delta}H_t^{0{\rightarrow}x})$(IS), and kinetically derived activation enthalpies, ${\delta}\;{\Delta}H^{\neq}$, in the MeCN-MeOH mixtures are combined to determine the transfer enthalpies of transition state, ${\delta}H_t^{0{\rightarrow}x})$(TS); ${\delta}H_t^{0{\rightarrow}x})$(IS) = ${\delta}{\Delta}H^{\neq}\;+\;{\delta}H_t^{0{\rightarrow}x}$(IS) The preferential solvation of anionic charge in the TS predicts a loose TS with a greater degree of bond cleavage for the reactions of PEB than for EBS, and also for the reactions with BA compared to the reactions with AN.

Effects of A-site Ca and B-site Zr Substitution on the Dielectric Characteristics and Microstructure of BaTiO3-CaTiO3 Composite (A-site Ca 및 B-site Zr 첨가에 의한 BaTiO3-CaTiO3복합체의 유전특성 및 미세구조에 미치는 영향)

  • The dielectric and sintering characteristics of composites made by substituting Ca ion to Ba-site and Zr ion to Ti site in $(Ba{1-x}Ca_x)(Ti{0.96-yZr_ySn_{0.04})O_3$ $(0.15{\leq}x{\leq}0.20,\;0.09{\leq}y{\leq}0.14)$ were investigated. As the content of Ca was more than 15 mol%, composite was formed by precipitating the second phase whose main element was $CaTiO_3$ and the fraction of the second phase was increased. The curie temperature of composites was depended on Ca concentration, $-1.7^{\circ}C$ per mol% and the maximum dielectric constant of composite was decreased by the rate of 200/mol%. The substitution of Zr ion decreased the curie temperature by the rate of $10^{\circ}C$ per mol% and the maximum dielectric constant was decreased by 217/mol% due to the increase of diffuse phase transition. The density and insulation breakdown characteristics were improved by suppressing the abnormal grain growth due to the increase of second phase. We developed the composition of Y5U (EIA standard) condenser which had high breakdown voltage and dielectric constant by controlling diffuse phase transition by the addition of Zr ion into composite.

Substitution Effect of Fluorine on $HoBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}F_y(0.0{\leq}y{\leq}0.5)$ Superconductors

  • High-Tc superconducting materials, $HoBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}F_y$ with $0.0{\leq}y{\leq}0.5$, were synthesized by ceramic method and studied by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy and resistivity measurement. From the X-ray diffraction data, it was found that the samples had only single phase of which lattice volumes were decreased in proportional to the amount of fluorine, which indicated that the relatively small fluorine atoms are effectively substituted for the oxygen sites. Also, an anomalous phenomenon appeared that the peak intensities of (001) planes were greatly increased as fluorine contents increased. SEM photographs revealed that the grain sizes were enlarged progressively with fluorine contents. This fact could be explained along with DTA & TGA data that the incorporation of fluorine gave rise to lowering the melting point. Tc decreased as the incorporation of fluorine content increased. This implies that the superconducting electrons are perturbed due to the substitution of electronegative fluorine atom.
