  • The study was conducted to investigate the relationship between berry set density per bearing shoot and fruit quality in 'Kyoho' grape. Fruit quality was evaluated by soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA), skin color, and total anthocyanin content (TAC). There was a sharp increase in SSC of fruit juice from veraison initiation to 30 days after veraison. The SSC level increased with the lower berry set per bearing shoot. The rapid accumulation of SSC 4 weeks after veraison in the cluster of low berry set (10-20) was observed, while that of high berry set (40-50) showed delayed and low SSC accumulation which reached only $15.0^{\circ}Bx$ at harvest. TA of fruit juice in all treatments reduced rapidly from veraison initiation to 30 days after veraison, and then reduced gradually. TA in all treatments except 50 berries set reached to 0.4-0.6% which was optimal TA in 'Kyoho' at fruit harvest. During fruit maturing after veraison, fruit skin color changed from green to purple-black, L and b value decreased, and a value increased. TAC in 10 and 20 berries set was gradually increased to 2 weeks after veraison, sharply increased until 6 weeks after veraison, and then finally decreased, while TAC in content in 30, 40, and 50 berries set per annual shoot remained at low level. The results indicated that the number of berry set for good quality seemed to be 20 per bearing shoot in 'Kyoho' grape.

  • This study was attempted to establish the basic data for effective utilization of the dried radish and sweet potato. The rehydration characteristic was carried out from these dried root vegetables in various conditions. The following results were obtained. The rehydration value was increased in glycine solution, whereas It decreased in lactic acid solution. Also the vacuum freezing was higher than that in hot air drying, and it was higher the slow freezing than in the quick freezing. The rehydration rate and the rehydration surface area curve were composed of three stages, and these stages were corresponded to each other. At the range of initial immersion to 2min., the largest rehydration rate was showed. The activation energy obtained from the Arrhenius plot of the rehydration rate constant(K) were 3. Bx103ca11g mol and 3.7$\times$103cal/g mol for dried radish and sweet potato, respectively.

  • To develop the processing methods of grape and increase the use of poor fruits, we researched the health drink made with them after making grape juice and vinegar. The grape heated at $80^{\circ}C$ during 30min was followed by filtration. Grape vinegar was prepared by alcohol and acetic acid fermentation of grape. Optimum initial alcohol concentration for acetic acid fermentation was 6-8%. Acetic acid fermentation of grape vinegar manufactured in onggi took 9 days and was faster than any other type of utensil. As the result of analysis of grape vinegar fermented in the various ratio of 'Campbell Early' and 'Kyoho' grape, the redness and total anthocyanin content and the score of sensory evaluation were higher in vinegar made with 100% 'Campbell Early'. The drink manufactured by adding grape vinegar was developed and adding 10% of grape vinegar to volume of grape juice and water mixture(1:1) was best in sensory evaluation. In this mixture, sugar content was $14^{\circ}$Bx.

  • Convergence measurements play very important role in the assessment of stability of a tunnel and of the economics of rock reinforcements. The characteristics of convergences are both due to the face advance effect and the time-dependent behaviour of rocks. As the convergence law can be modeled as a specific function of two variables of distance and time, we can determine the type of function and the related parameters from the field measurements. By using the regression method based on the Levengberg-Marquardt algorithm, an analysis of convergence of two different tunnels and one numerical example is described. It is shown that the convergence can be modeled as following function, C(x)=a{1-exp(-bx)} or C(t)=a{1-exp(-bt)} in case of a tunnel excavated in elastic rocks, in case of elasto-plastic or over stressed rocks.

  • We have developed of the exposure technique for the chest radiography to get different contrast in left and right lung fields simultaneously for the effective diagnosis, I.E., get high contrast to detect tuberculosis, dispersal shadow or exudative lesions of early tuberculosis and get better sharpness and wider latitude to detect growing lesions of lung cancer or lesions overlapped with bones. As a result, by using an additional filter Cu 1.2mm with BX-III screen side and sheet of yellow cellophane on BF-III screen side at the conventional KV ($80KV{\sim}100KV$) for the chest X-ray, we can get similar densities in both left and right lung fields and, thus, this method is considered to be very effective for the quality diagnosis for the routine chest radiography.

  • One of the interesting nonlinear matrix equations is the quadratic matrix equation defined by $$Q(X)=AX^2+BX+C=0$$, where X is a $n{\times}n$ unknown real matrix, and A, B and C are $n{\times}n$ given matrices with real elements. Another one is the matrix polynomial $$P(X)=A_0X^m+A_1X^{m-1}+{\cdots}+A_m=0,\;X,\;A_i{\in}\mathbb{R}^{n{\times}n}$$. Newton's method is used to find the symmetric and bisymmetric solvents of the nonlinear matrix equations Q(X) and P(X). The method does not depend on the singularity of the Fr$\acute{e}$chet derivative. Finally, we give some numerical examples.

  • This paper describes the steering control and geomagnetism cancellation for an autonomous mobile robotusing MR sensors. The magnetic-resistive (MR) sensor obtains the vector summation of the magnetic fields from embedded magnets and the Earth. The robot is controlled by the magnetic fields from embedded magnets. So, geomagnetism is the disturbance in the steering control system. In this paper, we propose a new method of the sensor arrangement in order to remove the geomagnetism and robotbody interference. The proposed method uses two MR sensors located in a level plane and the steering controller has been developed. The controller has three input variables (dBx, dBy, dBz) using the measured magnetic field difference, and an output variable (the steering angle) ...

  • Let GF(q) be a finite field with q elements where q=p$^{n}$ for a prime number p and a positive integer n. Consider an arbitrary function .phi. from GF(q) into GF(q). By using the Largrange's Interpolation formula for the given function .phi., .phi. can be represented by a polynomial which is congruent (mod x$^{q}$ -x) to a unique polynomial over GF(q) with the degree < q. In [3], Wells characterized all polynomial over a finite field which commute with translations. Mullen [2] generalized the characterization to linear polynomials over the finite fields, i.e., he characterized all polynomials f(x) over GF(q) for which deg(f) < q and f(bx+a)=b.f(x) + a for fixed elements a and b of GF(q) with a.neq.0. From those papers, a natural question (though difficult to answer to ask is: what are the explicit form of f(x) with zero terms\ulcorner In this paper we obtain the exact form (together with zero terms) of a polynomial f(x) over GF(q) for which satisfies deg(f) < p$^{2}$ and (1) f(x+a)=f(x)+c for the fixed nonzero elements a and c in GF(q).

  • A high power SiGe HBT has been fabricated using APCVD(Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition) and its perfermanoe has been analysed. The composition of Ge in the SiGe base was graded from 0% at the emitter-base junction to 20% at the base-collector junction. As a base electrode, titanium disilicide(TiSi$_2$) was used to reduce the extrinsic base resistance. The SiGe HBT with an emitter area of 2$\times$8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$^2$typically has a cutoff frequency(f$_{T}$) of 7.0GHz and a maximun oscillation frequency(f$_{max}$) of 16.1GHz with a pad de-embedding. The packaged high power SiGe HBT with an emitter area of 2xBx80${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$^2$typically shows a cutoff frequency of 4.7GHz and a maximun oscillation frequency of 7.1GHz at Ic of 115mA.A.A.

  • This paper describes neural network steering controller for an AGV using MR sensor. The analytical magnetic fields model was compared with measured data and found to have less than 1 % difference. The neural network was also used to learn the steering behaviour of the AGV relative to the magnetic field values(Bx, By, Bz). A computer simulation of the AGV (including AGV's dynamics and steering) was used to verify the steering performance of the controller using the neural network. Good results were obtained. Also, the handmade AGV using neural network controller verified good results.
