  • Five Cu(II) compounds were obtained from different copper salts with btp ligands, and their structures were determined by X-ray crystallography. The structure of coordination polymer 2 contains btp-bridged tetranuclear Cu(II) units weakly connected by nitrate ions, and the structure of a discrete Cu(II) molecule 1 contains acetates and btp ligands. With perchlorate anions, two btp ligands bridge Cu(II) ions to form a double zigzag chain 3, while a single zigzag chain 4 is created with sulfate anions. The reaction of $Cu(NO_{3})_{2}$ containing $NH_{4}PF_{6}$ with btp ligands also produced a polymeric compound 5 containing $Cu(H_{2}O)_{2}^{2+}$ and $Cu(NO_{3})_{2}$ units alternatively bridged by btp ligands with H-bonds between copper bonded water and nitrate oxygen atoms. Five Zn(II) compounds were obtained from different zinc salts with btp ligands, and the structures of polymeric compounds (6, 7 and 8) and monomeric compounds (9 and 10) were determined by X-ray crystallography. With nitrate, chloride and bromide anions, btp ligands bridge Zn(II) ions to form polymeric compounds (6, 7 and 8), but btp ligands coordinate to a Zn(II) ion to form monomeric complexes (9 and 10) with $PF_{6}^{-}$ and perchlorate anions. Four silver salts and btp ligands produced two kinds of structures, dinuclear 20-membered rings and one-dimensional zigzag chain depending on different anions. For $ClO_{4}^{-}$ and OTf anions, weak interactions between Ag(I) and anions make dinuclear 20-membered rings construct polymeric compounds (11 and 13). For $PF_{6}^{-}$ anion, there are also weak interactions between Ag(I) and $F(PF_{6}^{-})(12)$, but they do not construct a polymeric compound. For $O_{2}CCF_{3}^{-}$ anion, btp ligands bridge Ag(I) atoms to make one-dimensional zigzag chain (14), and there are also interactions between Ag(I) and anions.

  • Background: Butaphosphan (BTP) has recently been introduced into the Korean aquaculture sector as a stressattenuating agent. In this study, a sensitive chemical analytical method was established for the detection of BTP in the olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) tissues. Methods: Utilizing a method employing liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), detection sensitivity, specificity, and precision were satisfactorily established. Temporal changes in the BTP plasma and muscle concentrations were assessed after a single intramuscular injection of BTP (50 and 150 mg/kg) to the olive flounder maintained at 13 ℃ or 22 ℃. Results: High BTP plasma levels were achieved immediately after the injection, and the drug was rapidly eliminated. Additionally, plasma BTP levels were markedly dependent on the elimination rate, which, in turn, seemed dependent on the water temperature, with the drug elimination half-life and mean residence time significantly shorter at 22 ℃ than 13 ℃. Overall, muscle BTP levels were markedly lower than the plasma levels. Notably, muscle levels were not influenced by water temperatures. Muscle BTP concentrations were used to estimate the necessary withdrawal period for drugs used in food fish, with BTP levels maintained far below the possible hazardous limit. Conclusions: In conclusion, the established LC-MS/MS method can be used for BTP residue detection with high sensitivity and reproducibility.

  • In broadband satellite multimedia (BSM) system, burst time plan (BTP) is always periodically generated. We find that this method can have a great effect on the system response ability to bandwidth requests. A general analysis model of BTP generation method is given. An optimized BTP generation (O-BTPG) method is presented by deducing the optimal bandwidth allocation period (BAP) and bandwidth allocation latency (BAL) without considering the signaling overhead caused by BTP. Then a novel asynchronous BTP generation (A-BTPG) method in which the BTP is generated asynchronously according to the traffic load from users' bandwidth requests is proposed. Simulation results show that A-BTPG can flexibly realize a trade-off between the system response ability and BTP signaling overhead. What's more, it can be widely used in various regenerative onboard switching BSM systems.

  • United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (U.S. NRC) specifies regulations on obtaining licenses and describes the technical position on the average waste concentration, also known as Concentration Averaging and Encapsulation Branch Technical Position (CA BTP); CA BTP helps classify blendable waste and discrete items and address concentration averaging. The technical position details are reviewed and compared in a real environment in Korea. A few cases of concentration averaging based on the application of CA BTP to domestic radioactive waste are presented, and the feasibility of the application is assessed. The radioactive waste considered herein does not satisfy the Disposal Concentration Limit (DCL) of the second-phase disposal facility while applying the preliminary classification. However, if CA BTP is applied when the radioactive waste is mixed with other radioactive waste items in a large and heavy container, it can be disposed of at the second-phase disposal facility in Gyeongju Repository. To apply the CA BTP of the U.S. NRC, it is necessary to investigate the safety assessment conditions of the US and Korea.

  • Purpose: To close anterior cranial base, various types of pedicle flaps have been developed previously. However, the results of those pedicle flaps were not constant. To solve such problem, the author designed bipedicle temporalis-pericranial (BTP) flap based on various types of existing flaps and this study intends to introduce this flap and present clinical application case. Methods: The pedicle of the proposed temporalis-pericranial flap is temporalis muscle. The point of this BTP flap is that because of both sides of the unilateral temporalis-pericranial flap are connected by midline pericranial tissue connected with dense vascular network communicate one another locally, that BTP flap can be safely elevated. The case is a 14 months old male patient of frontoethmoidal encephalomeningocele. Surgery was done in a way that after elevating BTP flap and removing encephalomeningocele, BTP flap was moved intracranially, and to prevent cerebrospinal fluid leakage, anterior cranial base was closed. Results: During 1 year and 6 month outpatient tracking observation, no particular finding like CSF leakage, meningitis or hydrocephalus was observed. Conclusion: The benchmarked BTP flap, effective in the treatment of frontoethmoidal encephalomeningocele, is one of the methods to close intracranium and extracranium.

  • A selective separation of Actirlide(III) by a nPr-BTP/nitrobezene extraction system was studied. The nPr-BTP (2.6-Bis-(5.6-n-propyl-1.2.4-triazin-3-yl)-pyridine) of a environmentally -friendly CHN type was self-synthesized and its compatability with diluent and stability with nitric acid were investigated. At the 0.1M nPr-BTP/nitrobenzene-1M $HNO_3$ and O/A=2, extraction yields of Am used as a representative of Actinide(III) and Eu were about 85% and 8%, respectively, and the other RE elements such as Nd, Ce and Y were extracted less than 3% (separation factor of Am and Eu was about 60). Thus, there was no problems in the selective extraction of Actinide(III) from RE. The stripping yield of Am with 0.05M $HNO_3$ at O/A= 1, however, was about 43% and the maximum stripping yield was 65% at O/A=0.3. It is necessary to develop the stripping system including the stripping agent instead of nitric acid solution.

  • Black tea is rich in phenolic antioxidants that has shown diverse health benefits such as protection against cardiovascular diseases and cancers. Thus, it is rational to incorporate black tea into suitable food products such as sponge cakes to enhance their nutritional and functional qualities. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the addition of black tea powder (BTP) on the quality of sponge cake. The pH of cakes ranged from 7.00~7.17, with no remarkable differences. Height decreased while baking loss rate and hardness significantly increased with increases in the content of BTP in the formulation (p<0.05). For crumb color values, $L^*-value$ decreased while $a^*$ and $b^*-values$ increased as a result of BTP substitution. 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS) radical scavenging activities were significantly increased (p<0.05) with increases in the content of BTP which were well correlated. Hedonic sensory results indicated that sponge cakes supplemented with 2~4% BTP obtained the most favorable acceptance scores. On the basis of the overall observations, sponge cakes supplemented with 2~4% BTP were found to be benefit from the functional properties of BTP, without compromising on consumer acceptance.

  • It has been reported that activation of metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (mGluR1) can mediate endocannabinoid-induced short-term depression of synaptic transmission in cerebellar parallel fiber (PF)-Purkinje cell (PC) synapse. mGluR1 has signaling pathways involved in intracellular calcium increase which may contribute to endocannabinoid release. Two major mGluR1-evoked calcium signaling pathways are known: (1) slow-kinetic inward current carried by transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC) channel which is permeable to $Ca^{2+}$; (2) $IP_3$-induced calcium release from intracellular calcium store. However, it is unclear how much each calcium source contributes to endocannabinoid signaling. Here, we investigated whether calcium influx through mGluR1-evoked TRPC channel contributes to endocannabinoid signaling in cerebellar Purkinje cells. At first, we applied SKF96365 to inhibit TRPC, which blocked endocannabinoid-induced short-term depression completely. However, an alternative TRP channel inhibitor, BTP2 did not affect endocannabinoid-induced short-term depression although it blocked mGluR1-evoked TRPC currents. Endocannabinoid signaling occurred normally even though the TRPC current was mostly blocked by BTP2. Our data imply that TRPC current does not play an important role in endocannabinoid signaling. We also suggest precaution in applying SKF96365 to inhibit TRP channels and propose BTP2 as an alternative TRPC inhibitor.

  • PHOLED devices which have the structure of ITO/HAT-CN(5nm)/NPB(50nm)/EML(30nm)/TPBi(10nm)/Alq3(20nm)/LiF(0.8nm)/Al(100nm) are fabricated to investigate the green emission profile in EML by using a gasket doping method. CBP and Ir(ppy)3 (2% wt) are co-deposited homogeneously as a background material of EML for green PHOLED, then a 5nm thickness of additionally doped layer by Ir(btp)2 (8% wt) is formed as a profiler of the green emission. The total thickness of the EML is maintained at 30nm while the distance of the profiler from the HTL/EML interface side (x) is changed in 5nm steps from 0nm to 25nm. As shown in Fig. 1, the green (513nm) peak from Ir(ppy)3 is not observed when Ir(btp)2 is also doped homogeneously because Ir(ppy)3 works as an gasket dopant of the Ir(btp)2 :CBP system. Therefore, in this experment, Ir(btp)2 can be used as a profiler of the green emission in CBP:Ir(ppy)3 system. The emission spectra from the PHOLED devices with different x are shown in Fig. 2. In this gasket doping system, stronger red peak means more energy transfer from green to red dopant or higher exciton density by green dopant. To find the green emission profile, the external quantum efficiency (EQE) at 3mA/cm2 for red peaks are calculated. More green light emission at near EML/HBL interface than that of HTL/EML is observed (insert of Fig. 2). This means that the higher exciton density at near EML/HBL interface in homogeneously doped CBP with Ir(ppy)3. As shown in Fig. 3, excitons can be quenched easily to HTL(NPB) because the T1 level of HTL(2.5eV) is relatively lower than that of EML(2.6eV). On the other hand, the T1 level of HBL(2.7eV) is higher than that of EML.
