The photodissociation dynamics of cyclopropyl bromide ($C_3H_5Br$) and cyclobutyl bromide ($C_4H_7Br$) at 234 nm was investigated. A two-dimensional photofragment ion-imaging technique coupled with a [2+1] resonanceenhanced multiphoton ionization scheme was utilized to obtain speed and angular distributions of the nascent $Br(^2P_{3/2})$ and $Br^*(^2P_{1/2})$ atoms. The recoil anisotropies for the Br and $Br^*$ channels were measured to be ${\beta}_{Br}=0.92{\pm}0.03$ and ${\beta}_{Br^*}=1.52{\pm}0.04$ for $C_3H_5Br$ and ${\beta}_{Br}=1.10{\pm}0.03$ and ${\beta}_{Br^*}=1.49{\pm}0.05$ for $C_4H_7Br$. The relative quantum yield for Br was found to be ${\Phi}_{Br}=0.13{\pm}0.03$ and for $C_3H_5Br$ and $C_4H_7Br$, respectively. The soft radical limit of the impulsive model adequately modeled the related energy partitioning. The nonadiabatic transition probability from the 3A' and 4A' potential energy surfaces was estimated and discussed.
In an effort to obtain high efficiency in gas fired absorption chillers, a new working fluid has been developed with thc addition of the component of $LiNO_3$, LiCl and LiI to the conventional solution of $LiBr-H_2O$. The solubility and vapor pressure of the 4 component working fluid developed in this work were measured and compared to the results of $LiBr-H_2O$ solution. It was observed that there exists an optimal mole ratio of the inorganic salts in terms of solubility. The mole ratio of LiBr, $LiNO_3$ and LiCl was found to be around 5:1:1~2 in the $LiBr-LiNO_3-LiCl-H_2O$ mixture, and in the case of $LiBr-LiO_3-Lil-H_2O$ and $LiBr-Lil-LiCl-H_2O$ mixtures, the mole ratio of LiBr, $LiNO_3$ and Lil/ LiBr, LiI and LiCl were found to be around 5:1:1 and 5:1:0.5~1 respectively. The vapor pressure of the 4 component working fluid of the optimal mole ratio was increascd with adding the component of $LiNO_3$, LiCl and LiI except for $LiBr-LiNO_3-LiCl-H_2O$ mixture. The absorption capacity of $LiBr-LiNO_3-LiCl-H_2O$ mixture was obtained higher than that of $LiBr-H_2O$ mixture.

Four types of electrolyte were tested for the application as an electrolyte in the Zn-Br redox flow battery. Electrolyte was consist of $ZnBr_2$ (electrolyte number 1), $ZnBr_2+KCl$ (electrolyte number 2), $ZnBr_2+KCl+NH_4Br$ (electrolyte number 3) and $ZnBr_2+KCl+EMPBr(C_7H_{16}BF_4N)$ (electrolyte number 4). The each electrolyte property was measured by CV (cyclic voltammetry) method. The different between the potential of anodic and cathodic maximum current density in a CV experiment (${\Delta}E_P$) was 0.89V, 0.89V, 1.06V and 0.61V for the electrolyte number 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. The electrolyte involved KCl increased conductivity which was appeared by anodic and cathodic maximum current density in a CV experiment. It was estimated that the electrolyte of number 3 ($ZnBr_2+KCl+NH_4Br$) and number 4 ($ZnBr_2+KCl+EMPBr$) could be suitable as an electrolyte in the Zn-Br redox flow battery with non-appeared bubble, non-Br formation and high anodic-cathodic maximum current density.
The solubilities of n-propyl bromide in nitrobenzene and in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene have been measured at 19, 25 and $40^{\circ}C$ in the presence and absence of gallium bromide. When gallium bromide does not exist in the system, the solubility of n-propyl bromide in nitrobenzene is greater than in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene, indicating a stronger interaction of n-propyl bromide with nitrobenzene than with 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene. In the presence of gallium bromide, 1: 1 complex $n-C_3H_7Br\cdotGaBr_3$ is formed in the solution. The instability constant K of the complex was evaluated. $$n-C_3H_7Br\cdotGaBr_3 \rightleftarrows n-C_3H_7Br + \frac{1}{2Ga_2Br_6 }$$The change of enthalpy, free energy and entropy for the dissociation of the complex were also calculated. It seems that the stabilities of the complex, gallium bromide with alkyl bromide, are relatively concerned with the stabilities of the alkyl ion.
The photodissociation dynamics of 1,2-bromochloroethane ($C_2H_4BrCl$) was investigated near 234 nm. A two-dimensional photofragment ion-imaging technique coupled with a [2+1] resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization scheme was utilized to obtain speed and angular distributions of the nascent Br($^2P_{3/2}$) and Br${\ast}($^2P_{1/2}$) atoms. The total translational energy distributions for the Br and Br${\ast}$ channels were well characterized by Gaussian functions with average translational energies of 100 and 84 kJ/mol, respectively. The recoil anisotropies for the Br and Br${\ast}$ channels were measured to be ${\beta}$ = 0.49 ${\pm}$ 0.05 for Br and 1.55 ${\pm}$ 0.05 for Br${\ast}$. The relative quantum yield for Br${\ast}$ was found to be ${\Phi}_{Br{\ast}}$ = 0.33 ${\pm}$ 0.03. The probability of nonadiabatic transition between A' states was estimated to be 0.46. The relevant nonadiabatic dynamics is discussed in terms of interaction between potential energy surfaces in Cs symmetry.

Several alkyl chlorides were brominated using LiBr and $CaBr_2$ adsorbed on alumina in the absence of solvent. The yields of alkyl bromides were fairly high. Such a high reactivity by these bromide salts might be due to the interaction of minute amount of water and the salt on alumina. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermogram was provided and discussed.
The solubilities of n-butyl bromide in nitrobenzene and in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene have been measured at $19^{\circ},\;25^{\circ},\;and\;40^{\circ}C$ in the presence and absence of gallium bromide. When gallium bromide does not exist in the system, the solubility of n-butyl bromide in nitrobenzene is greater than in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene, indicating a stronger interaction of n-butyl bromide with nitrobenzene than with 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene. In the presence of gallium bromide, complex of n-butyl bromide with gallium bromide, 1:1 complex, $n-C_4H_9Br{\cdot}GaBr_3$, is formed in the solution. The instability constant K of the complex was evaluated. $n-C_4H_9Br{\cdot}GaBr_3{\rightleftharpoons}n-C_4H_9Br+\frac{1}{2}Ga_2Br_6$ The changes of enthalpy, free energy and entropy for the dissociation of the complex were also calculated.

Solubility on $(LiBr+CaCl_2)$ in water has been measured systematically and compared with those of pure LiBr. It has been observed that there exists optimum value of $CaCl_2(LiBr+CaCl_2)$ in solubility when total$(LiBr+CaCl_2)$ concentration is higher than 57wt%. As total concentration increases up to 65wt%, it is found that the optimum value also increases monotonically. From the experimental results, a master plot has been constructed, with which optimum ratio of LiBr to $CaCl_2$ can be found in terms of total concentration. Vapor pressure of $H_2O/(LiBr+CaCl_2)$ solution with optimum contents of $CaCl_2$ has been observed to be changed negligibly at relatiely low temperature. However, as temperature increases, it is found that increasement in vapor pressure is significant.
The solubility of i-butyl bromide in nitrobenzene have been measured at 19, 25 and $40^{\circ}C$ in the presence and absence of gallium bromide. In the presence of gallium bromide, 1 : 1 complex, $i-C_4H_9Br{\cdot}GaBr_3$ is formed in the solution. The instability constant K of the complex formation was evaluated from the following equilibrium equation. $i-C_4H_9Br{\cdot}GaBr_3{\rightleftharpoons}C_4H_9Br + 1/2Ga_2Br_6.$ From these result, it seems that the stabilities of the complex formation, gallium bromide with alkyl bromide, are directly related with those of the carbonium ions of alkyl bromide.

Water vapor absorption performance of four components solution ($LiBr+LiNO_3+LiC1+H_2O$) which could be substituted for commonly used $LiBr/H_2O$ solution in water cooled abosorption chiller is tested using a vertical tube absorber. Inlet solution concentration, inlet solution temperature, solution flow rate and inlet temperature of cooling water is varied as experimental parameters. The results of the experiment of water vapor absorption performance show that four components solution should have $2\%$ higher concentration for equal absorption capacity of $LiBr/H_2O$. But considering that four components solution have higher solubility than LiBr solution about $3\%$ high oncentration, four components solution ($LiBr+LiNO_3+LiC1+H_2O$) have more absorption capacity than LiBr solution in actual absorption chiller and can be applied to a small or air cooled absorption chiller.
