  • Bill Of Materials(BOM) is the technique document on illuminating the product structure and used to demonstrate the relationship and structure between the final product, sub-products, parts and materials. This paper implemented BOM system for need parts production that is need in production of finished goods that is display stand that is made by steel. After implementation the BOM system, there are changing of the corporation, which applied this system: (1) contraction by 2 weeks to 2 days of the time to calculate parts required for products (2) accuracy improvement of calculation for amounts parts required (3) contraction of business organization.

  • Recently, not only marine PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system but also an effective outfitting BOM (Bill of Material) management has been attracted by many shipyards. In particular, efficient outfitting design is being one of major issues in shipyards since most of currently designed marine vessels have more complex outfitting system than ever. Furthermore, each outfitting system has huge number of parts that should be arranged based upon the procurement and installation plan. Outfitting BOMs evolve into different forms according to the product development phases during basic design; detail design; and production design. Therefore, it is very difficult to maintain a consistent BOM data during the design phases. In order to express the evolution of product structures and the information of outfitting along the ship design, we suggested UID (Unique ID) code system. The UID (Unique ID) is used in order to create the relationship within evolutional BOMs of each design stage. It utilizes as the procedure of weight calculation for procurement BOM during each design stage. Thereafter, in order to demonstrate suggested outfitting BOM management technique, we suggested a prototype. In the prototype system, suggested features of outfitting BOM are implemented.

  • In customer-oriented make-to-order manufacturing environments, the works of BOM changes due to the changes of product specification and engineering are closely connected with almost all departments such as sales, engineering, production, procurement, cost, after service, etc within an enterprise. So, the contents of BOM changes must be instantly reflected on the related works among the departments. To effectively process these complex works of BOM changes, types of changes on product specification and engineering and types of BOM changes linked with those must be systematically defined, classified and managed by information systems. Thus, it is necessary to introduce solutions such as BPM and SOA in order to efficiently deal with complex business processes like BOM change management. This paper proposes a methodology of constructing information systems based on BPM and SOA. The proposed methodology defines the relationship between processes of BPM for definition, execution, monitoring, etc of business processes and services of SOA for connection among information systems within an enterprise, and presents a scheme of practically applying BPM and SOA solutions to actual business works. To show an utilization of the proposed methodology, the prototype system for product BOM management is implemented in order to efficiently deal with the works of BOM changes due to the changes of product specification and engineering.

  • The world has faced with various environmental problems such as climatic change, global pollution, and depletion of natural resources. Conventional economic development continues not only to intensify the magnitude of the problems but also to damage growth potential of future generations. Therefore, recent manufacturers are highly required to accommodate themselves to sustainable development that aims at preventing the loss to the future generations. Moreover, the manufacturers are under heavy pressure from various environmental regulations. This paper proposes green bill of material (Green-BOM) which conforms to the environmental regulations to restructure eco-friendly manufacturing system. Green-BOM is useful for managing green product and process information to satisfy several environmental regulations by recording energy consumption, recycle rate, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), substance information, and so on.

  • Material Requirement Planning(MRP) has been the most widely implemented large scale production management system in the manufacturing industry. Computerization of MRP systems involves, in general, Bill Of Material(BOM) explosion algolithms which usually takes heavy computation time. In order to improve the effectiveness of the MRP systems, we propose to build a logical BOM database in advance, which reflects the Join operations for the BOM explosion. It reduces the response time for the BOM indented explosion. It reduces the MRP processing time. It also increased main memory utilization.

  • This dissertation explains the construction of the expert system which can manage diagnosis and administration of trouble using circuit diagram through connection between BOM and ability term and makes up for problem which have designed RIMS with name of parts. Also this dissertation explains that existing BOM has no regard organic relation of parts and functional and systematic appearance of the flow of electricity or air. Construction of expert system and "Be enlivened BOM" with flowing electricity and air can solve problems about overlapping parts carrying out other functions with the same name of parts following to simple and physical BOM management and having mistaken trouble of the end caused by basis for trouble of the end.

  • This paper focuses on a BOM(Bill of Materials) management problem for a small and medium manufacturing company that produce automobile parts. Automobile part's manufacturers produce various products due to various automobile characteristics such as types, colors, and the other options of car. These products are classified into product groups with common parts. And each product group is regarded as a product family. This paper proposes an efficient and effective EXCEL-based BOM management scheme using characteristics of the product family. And we have implemented the practical EXCEL-based BOM management system for real small and medium automobile part's manufacturing companies.

  • BOM(Bill of Material) is a description of parts, assemblies and raw materials that comprise a product structure. In manufacturing companies that produce various products with short life cycles, it is very important to manage to BOM of products with various options and versions efficiently. This paper describes an effective modeling and implementing technique of Generic BOM Management System(GBMS) for management of number of variant products. In this paper, OMT(Object Modeling Technique) was used to model a generic BOM and Object-Relational Database Management System(ORDBMS) was used to implement the GBMS database. In order to prove the effectiveness of proposed methodology, a case that assembles computer with various options was studied.

  • Objective : We investigated the effects of BOM Gunbisoyeom-tang(Jianbixiaoyan-tang) Gamibang having prescribed clinically to patients with perennial allergic rhinitis. Methods : We prescribed BOM Gunbisoyeom-tang(Jianbixiaoyan-tang) Gamibang for 1 month to 77 patients visiting to KimKiJoon Orentalclinic BOM from January 1 to December 31, 2008 with perennial allergic rhinitis and analysised the questionnaire(symptom severity assessment) before and after treatment. Results : BOM Gunbisoyeom-tang(Jianbixiaoyan-tang) Gamibang improved significantly all nosal symptoms(sneezing, runny nose, congestion, itchy nose and postnasal drip), some non-nasal symptoms(eye and throat symptoms, headache and mental function) except chromic cough and ear symptoms and quality of life. Conclusion : BOM Gunbisoyeom-tang(Jianbixiaoyan-tang) Gamibang cured effectively patients with perennial allergic rhinitis by 1 month treatment but not perfectly. So further studies are needed for treatment duration and changes of pathological index before and after treatment.

  • This Report explains a plan for the application and construction about BOM(Bill Of Material) in charge of primary part of the RIMS(Rolling-Stock Information Maintenance System) maximizing the RIMS's reliability. The BOM system of the Seoul Metro is accomplished the frequent changes of the structure and design through the OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturer) and the maintaining and repairing work and also The BOM system is constructed so that Seoul Metro can solve all problems of the composition change, Rolling-Stock construction, changeful history management. In addition the BOM system of the Seoul Metro is considered the applicative side of the technical data, information of the material, expediency and hindrance analysis.
