A Design of the TCM Decoder for DAB Receiver (DAB 수신기용 TCM 디코더의 설계)

  • The Trellis Coded Modulation(TCM) allows the considerable achievements of coding gains compare with conventional multi-level modulation without compromising bandwidth efficiency. In this paper, we are presented a design of the parallel Viterbi decoder for 16-QAM TCM decoder with large constraint length (K=9), which can be applicable for the Digital Audio Broadcasting(DAB) receiver. As a mid-term result, a parallel Branch Metric Calculator (BMC)can compute 16 BMs within 3 clocks and a parallel 16 Add-Compare-Selects (ACS) unit can compute in a single clock. And also, two 256 Path Metric Memories (PMM) 32 Trace Back(TB) memories are specially designed with shuffle exchange switches for 16 parallel accesses. As a VHDL simulation, we can find the correctness of proposed model, which can be operated 16 S per symbol. Now, we are performing the hardware reduction for realtime operation and FPGA implementation.

  • In this paper, we propose that a model based design for an electric motor cycle system using ASM (Automotive Simulation Models). Before prototyping a realistic electric motorcycle, a reliable simulation program is required to test the capacities of the power sources and optimize the parameters of an electric motorcycle. Because ASM is based on Simulink, we can design the drivetrain and powertrain of the vehicle model systems easily. To verify the electric motorcycle system analysis of design parameters such as max power, capacity, state of charge and slope angle is carried out by the simulation and experimental method. The predicted results by the development model were in good agreement with the experimentally obtained results. Therefore, the proposed electric motorcycle model can effectively reduce the expenses during the designing of an electric motorcycle system.

Portable RFID Reader for 900MHz Band (900MHz 대역용 휴대용 RFID 리더)

  • In this paper, a portable RFID reader which operated in 900MHz UHF band is designed and fabricated and the characteristics of the manufactured portable RFID reader is analyzed through measurement. Analysis of measurements results is achieved based on EPC Class 0 standards that proposed by EPC Global. The proposed RFID reader communicate with tags about 11kbps speed, and have 20 dBm for its maximum RF output power. The proposed portable RFID reader can recognize maximum 68 tags per second, and when reader's output power is 20 dBms, maximum recognition distance is 30cm. And the total size of implemented RFID reader is $71mm{\times}55mm$, that is the maximum 90%, minimum 14% reduced size compared with marketed product.

  • One way to increase public revenue from public parking spaces is by improving the way parking meters gather data. Improved parking meters have evolved that increase car park revenue as well as efficiency in service and operations. It provides parking meters with the capacity to provide real-time information. This information consist primarily of the status of parking spaces (it indicates which expired metered spaces have parked vehicles.) The technology consists of sensors located at meters that report on their condition (i.e. whether it is working or if it is expired). This information is processed by a microprocessor and then sent via an internal wireless modem to the server. This server then processes the information from all the parking meters and sends it to the public institution in charge of them. This system also provides verification of parking permits. For example, disabled people with special license plates can be automatically approved for parking in designated places.

A Study on Modeling Framework of Convergence Business (융합 비즈니스 모델링 프레임워크에 관한 연구)

  • Compared to the wide spread of convergence in government and industries there are still lack of theoretical foundation and effective methodologies to successfully implement it. Especially, there are few remarkable results on the ideal types of convergence business model (BM) in both domestic and foreign researchers. In this paper we show theoretical types, strategic alternatives, and design steps of convergence BM could be developed based on '4WH1H model' which is a conceptual framework of a BM. 4W1H model includes 5 constituents of a BM, i. e., customer value, value proposition, operation, target market, and supply capability. We derive 5 theoretical types of convergence BMs depending on the focus of innovation, i.e., value, product, operation, market, and capability. After defining the constituents and types (i.e., structural aspects) of convergence BM, we also show a BM could be linked with business strategy by defining the interaction among 5 constituents (i.e., behavioral aspects) of convergence BM.

Simulation and Experimental Study on the Impact of Light Railway Train Bridge Due to Concrete Rail Prominence (주행면 단차에 의한 경량전철 교량의 충격 시뮬레이션 및 실험)

  • This study pointed on the dynamic impact of AGT (Automated Guide-way Transit) bridge, due to concrete rail prominence. An experiment was done with 30 m P.S.C. bridge in AGT test line in Kyungsan. An artificial prominence with 10 mm hight, was installed at the mid span of concrete rail. And computer simulation was executed for the artificial prominence. As an experiment result, in the case of with prominence, bridge acceleration responses are increased 50% at the speed range of 20 km/h-60 km/h, and bridge displacement responses increased slightly. With these results, the prominence of concrete rail can be induce excess impact and vibration. And the computer program simulated much the same as experiments. So this program can be used for AGT bridge design and formulate the standard of concrete rail management.

On-site Output Survey and Feed Value Evaluation on Agro- industrial By-products (농산업부산물들에 대한 배출 현장 조사 및 사료적 가치 평가)

  • This study was conducted to make on-site survey on the output pattern and utilization situation of 19 by-products selected, to evaluate their nutritional characteristics, to find out a reliable index with which digestion of by-products can be predicted on the basis of chemical compositions analyzed and to diagnose the risk of using book values in the absence of the actual values analyzed for diet formulation. Production and utilization situations of by-products were quite various. Nutritionally, fruit processing by-products such as apple pomace (AP), pear pomace (PP), grape pomace (GP), and persimmon peel (PSP), and bakery by-products (BB) were classified as energy feeds. Soybean curd meal (SCM), animal by- products such as blood (BD), feather meal (FM) and poultry by-products (PB), and activated milk processing sludge (AMS) were classified as protein feeds. Soy hulls (SH), spent mushroom compost (SMC), barley malt hulls (BMH), waste paper (WP) and broiler litter (BL) were classified as roughage. Rumen contents (RC) and restaurant food waste (FW) were nutritionally analogous to complete diets for cattle and swine, respectively. Compared to soybean meal (SBM), BD and FM contained high (P<0.05) levels of amino acids and barley malt sprouts (BMS), AMS and FW contained low (P<0.05) levels of amino acids. Enzymatic (pepsin) digestibilities of proteinaceous feeds ranged between 99 and 66%. In vitro DM digestibility was high (P<0.05) in the order of FW, BB, AP, SH, PP, PSP, BMH, BMS, SCM, GP, RC, PB, BL, WP, SMC, AMS, FM and BD. In vitro DM digestibility had the highest correlation (r=0.68) with nonfibrous carbohydrate among chemical components. Differences between analyzed values of chemical components and book values were considerable. Caution is required in using book values when large amount of by-products are used in diets.

Effects of Dietary Lactobacillus brevis Supplementation on Growth Performance, Dry Matter and Nitrogen Digestibilities, Blood Cell Counts and Fecal Odor Emission Compounds in Growing Pigs (육성돈사료에 Lactobacillus brevis의 첨가가 성산성, 건물과 질소 소화율, 혈구수 및 분 내 악취 발생 물질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary Lactobacillus brevis (3.4×108 CFU/g) supplementation on growth performance, DM and N digestibilities, blood cell counts and fecal odor emission compounds in growing pigs. Ninety six crossbred [(Landrace×Yorkshire)×Duroc] pigs with an initial BW of 24.60±1.28kg were used for 42-d feeding trial according to a completely randomized design. Three corn- soybean meal based dietary treatments included: 1) CON (basal diet); 2) LB1 (basal diet + Lactobacillus brevis 0.2%) and 3) LB2 (basal diet+Lactobacillus brevis 0.4%). There were three dietary treatments with eight replicate pens per treatment and four pigs per pen. Through the entire experimental period, ADG, ADFI and gain/feed had no significant differences among treatments(P>0.05). Nitrogen digestibility was increased in LB1 and LB2 treatments compared to CON treatment (linear effect, P<0.05), however, DM digestibility had no significant difference among all the treatments (P>0.05). The WBC, RBC and lymphocyte concentrations in whole blood were not affected by treatments (P>0.05). Fecal NH3N and H2S concentrations were significant decreased in LB2 treatment compared to CON treatment (linear effect, P<0.05). Fecal VFA (acetic acid and propionic acid) concentration was also reduced in LB2 treatment compared to CON treatment (linear effect, P<0.05). In conclusion, Lactobacillus brevis (3.4×108 CFU/g) supplementation at the level of 0.4% can improve nitrogen digestibility and decrease the concentrations of fecal odor emission compounds in growing pigs.
