  • This paper describes a digital sensorless drive of permanent magnet brushless DC (PM BLDC) motors. The sensorless drive adopts a digital filter - moving average finite impulse response filter for accurate estimation of commutation time. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed sensorless drive is superior to that of the sensorless drive without filtering.

  • Recently, we are concerned about car energy efficiency because of high Price of oil. Hybrid cars are manufactured and used. Now most cars use BLDC Motor, but these motors generate cogging phenomenon due to its frame. As a result, cars are low efficiency and occur noise and vibration. In this paper, 1KW Double Cylinder Motor which is high efficiency, low noise and vibration by its no slot structure was designed and manufactured for a Hybrid car.

  • This paper is analyzed the characteristic of multi-phase inverter for the electric propulsion system. Two BLDC motors with 3 and 7 phases are designed with these features in order to simulate the effect of increasing the number of phases. From the simulation results, the 7-phase given better performance in terms of torque pulsation. Also, the torque pulsation can be reduced further by increasing the number of phases.

  • In automobile, the introduction of electronically commutated motors has been accompanied by a proliferation of electronic devices. With this proliferation of electronic devices, an emphasis has been placed on EMC issues. This paper is proposed to use SRM as a radiator cooling fan in automotive applications. To drive SRM, Energy efficient C-dump converter is applied. It is verified more efficient than other converters through simulation and experiments. And also SRM is valid automotive applications that have strict EMC standards. It is compared SRM with BLDC and DC motor by experiments.

  • This paper presents the rotor shape optimization of an interior type permanent magnet (IPM) motor for a reduction of vibration and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). The vibration and EMI in permanent magnet motors is generated by cogging torque ripple, radial force and commutation torque ripple. Consequently, in order to improve vibration and EMI, the optimal notches are put on the rotor pole with an arc shape proposed. The variation of vibration frequency due to the cogging torque and radial force of each model is computed by the finite element method (FEM). From the analysis result and experiment, we confirmed the proposed model has remarkably improved the vibration and EMI.

  • BLDC Motor has many advantages but the motor has slots in Stator like as other conventional Motors therefore cannot be eliminated torque ripple which is not acceptable for a special purpose. For high speed and high efficiency and no torque ripple is a Double Cylinder Motor suggested which has a air-gap-winding and rotating yoke with magnet. Because Airgap winding needs no slot and no ironloss is made in rotating yoke. In this paper describes design and construction and theoretical and experimental investigation of a Double Cylinder Motor.

  • The Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (PMBLDC) motors have been used in modern industrial factories, hazardous chemical process, modern medical devices, and especially in advanced military devices such as army drones. By considering their sensitive role in the industrial and military applications, their optimal design has a real concern. This paper proposes a method for optimal eco-design of a PMBLDC motor using improved tabu search optimization. The objective function is based on losses, volume and cost. Electrical and mechanical requirements and other limitations are combined into constraints of problem. Also, finite element analysis has been used for verifications in magnetic mode.

  • For drones to be used for industrial or agricultural applications, it is necessary to increase the payload and endurance. Currently, the payload and endurance are limited by the battery technology for electric powered drones. In addition, charging or replacing the batteries may not be a practical solution at the field that requires near continuous operation. In this paper, a procedure to optimize the power system of an electric hybrid drone that consists of an internal combustion engine, a generator, a battery, and electric motors is presented. The example drone for crop dusting is sized for easy transportation with a maximum takeoff weight of 200 kg. The two main rotors that are mechanically connected to the internal combustion engine provides most of the lift. The drone is controled by four electric motors that are driven by the generator. By analyzing the flow of the energy, a methodology to select the optimum propeller and motor among the commercially available models is described. Then, a procedure of finding the optimum operational condition along with the proper gear reduction ratios for the internal combustion engine based on the test data is presented.

  • The brushless DC motor is widely being used in unmanned factories for its easy maintenance and characteristics of controllability. In this paper, we designed a speed control servo system of a sinusoidal type bmshless DC motor which has high efficiency and usefulness in the industrial fields. This servo system is realized by a controller which is required for driving motors and a new auto-tuning PI control algorithm. The DSP(Digita1 Signal Processor) is adopted as a main controller and a sensor signal processor owing to its fast computational capability and suitable architecture. Also, the hardware PWnl(Pulse Width Modulation) current controller is implemented to pursue a speed command exactly. By experimental results, it is verified that the speed response is pursued fast after command value and the steady-state response is well converged for command value variation without overshoots.
