VHDL과 FPGA를 이용한 BLDC Motor의 속도 제어 시스템 구현 (Implementation of the BLDC Motor Speed Control System using VHDL and FPGA)

  • This paper presents the implementation for the BLDC motor speed control system using VHDL and FPGA. The BLDC motor is widely used in automation for its good robustness and easy controllability. In order to control the speed of the BLDC motor, the PI controller used for static RPM output of the BLDC motor to variations in load. In addition, by using the DA converter, we were able to monitor the BLDC motor reference speed and the current speed through real time. The motor speed command and the parameters of the PI speed controller were modified easily by the FPGA and the AD converter. Finally, in order to show the feasibility of the control algorithm the speed control characteristics of the motor was monitored using an oscilloscope and the DA converter. Further, the speed control system was designed in this paper has shown the applicability of the drive system of the factory automation.

  • 본 논문에서는 전동기 파라미터와 부하에 강인한 속도 특성을 위해 디지털 IP제어를 이용한 BLDC 전동기의 센서리스 속도제어 방식을 제안한다. 단자 전압을 이용한 BLDC 전동기의 센서리스 구동시 회전자 위치 추정을 위해 아날로그 필터를 사용하기 때문에 부하나 속도에 영향을 받는다. 전동기 파라미터에 둔감하고 부하의 영향에도 강건한 센서리스 속도제어를 하기 위해서는 정확한 회전자 위치 추정과 연동하는 강인한 속도 제어기가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 IP제어를 이용하여 부하의 변동에도 강인한 정속제어와 일정 부하로 운전 중 가감속시 임의의 속도변화에 대해 BLDC 전동기의 안정된 센서리스 제어가 가능하도록 구성하였다. 이에 대한 타당성은 실험을 통하여 입증하고자 한다.

  • The BLDC motor is used widely in industry due to its controllability and freedom from maintenance because there is no mechanical brush in the BLDC motor. Furthermore, it is suitable for high-speed applications, such as compressors and air blowers. For instance, for a compressor with a small impeller due to miniaturizing, the BLDC motor has to rotate at a very high speed to maintain the compression ratio of the compressor. Typically, to reach an ultra-high speed, airfoil bearings must be used in place of ball bearings because of their friction. Unfortunately, the characteristics of airfoil bearings change drastically depending on the revolution speed. In this paper, a BLDC motor with airfoil bearings is controlled with a PID controller. To analyze and determine the PID coefficients, the relay-feedback method is used. Additionally, for adaptive control, a fuzzy logic controller is used. Furthermore, the auto-tuning and self-tuning techniques are combined to control the BLDC motor. The proposed method is able to control the airfoil-bearing BLDC motor efficiently.

무인 설비 감시용 레일 가이드 구동장치에서 BLDC 전동기의 위치 제어 (A Position Control of BLDC Motor in a Rail Guided System for the Un-maned Facility Security)

  • A low-cost BLDC motor with hall sensor is used to drive the position control of a facility security monitoring system in this paper. Low measurable frequency of the hall sensor signal in low-speed regions results in difficulty in obtaining accurate speed detection and position control. To improve system control performance, we propose a variable gain of position controller and stop mode control scheme according to the motor speed and error position with pre-set deceleration time. The proposed stop mode control scheme is activated around the stop position to forcibly move the BLDC motor to the stop position in low speed. In the proposed stop mode, the motor current is controlled by the actual speed with the reference rotating angle. The control performance of the proposed position control is verified through experiments at the actual rail guided facility security monitoring system.

초고속 단상 BLDC 전동기의 고역률 전력 제어 방법 (High Power Factor Control of High-speed Single-phase BLDC Motor)

  • This paper presents a power control method of high-speed single-phase BLDC motor. Most electric appliances require a power factor corrector (PFC) to mitigate grid current harmonics. However, the reactive components and power semiconductors in the PFC increase system cost and dimension. In this paper, a new motor drive system for a high-speed single-phase BLDC motor is proposed, which can decrease grid current harmonics without PFC by directly manipulating motor power and eliminating bulky electrolytic dc-link capacitor. Given that the proposed motor power control method does not require motor current controller, no current sensor is necessary. Moreover, the proposed algorithms can be easily implemented using a low-cost micro-controller. The effectiveness of the proposed power control method is verified by experiments.

  • A BLDC motor with higher number of phases has several advantages, compared to the conventional three-phase BLDC motors. It can reduce the commutation torque ripple and the iron loss without increasing the voltage per phase and increase the reliability and power density. Higher number of phases increase the torque-per-ampere ratio for the same machine volume and output power by widening the electrical conduction period. In this paper, the proposed seven-phase BLDC motor drive system is made into several functional modular blocks, so that it can be easily extended to other ac motor applications: back-EMF block, hysteresis current control block, pwm inverter block, phase current block, and speed/torque control block. Also in a system of BLDC motor drive, the PI controller has been widely used in the speed controller because of the simple implementation. To obtain a good speed response in a general drive system using the PI controller, the high bandwidth of a controller is established. therefore, in this paper, a Fuzzy controller is applied to the 7-phase BLDC motor drive system in order to improve the speed control performance. The Fuzzy controller is compared with a conventional PI controller through the experiment with respect to speed dynamic responses. These experimental results show that the Fuzzy controller of the 7-phase BLDC motor drive system is superior over the conventional PI controller. The algorithm using the Fuzzy controller can improve a comfortable ride in the field of high performance 7-phase BLDC motor drive applications.

직류전동기 제어기법을 적용한 3상 BLDC 모터 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study of Control for 3 Phase BLDC Motor using Control Methodology of DC Motor)

  • 본 논문은 직류전동기(DC motor)와 전기적인 특성은 유사하지만, 수명과 신뢰성이 향상된 BLDC 모터의 제어기법에 대해 언급하고 있다. BLDC모터는 회전자의 위치 정보를 사용하여 직류전동기의 기계적인 접촉에 의한 정류 장치를 제거함으로써 내구성과 속도 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 BLDC모터의 권선에 흐르는 전류가 직류전동기의 전기자에 흐르는 구형파 형태의 전류인 것에 착안하여 직류전동기에 대한 제어기를 설계하고, 설계된 제어기를 3상 BLDC모터에 적용하여 제어기의 유효성을 확인하였다. 이를 위해 3상 BLDC모터의 전기적인 파라미터 값을 가지는 단상 직류전동기의 모델링을 실시하였고, 도출된 시스템에 대해 근궤적법을 적용하여 전동기의 속도제어를 위한 PI 제어기를 설계하였다. DC 전동기의 속도제어 시뮬레이션을 시행하여 제어기의 성능을 확인하였고, 동일한 제어기를 MATLAB으로 구현한 3상 BLDC모터의 속도제어에 적용하였다. DC 전동기와 유사한 제어 결과를 3상 BLDC모터에서 얻을 수 있었고, 이를 통해 연구에서 제안한 제어기법의 유용성을 확인할 수 있었다.

핸드피스용 BLDC 모터 속도 제어시스템의 설계 (Design of Brushless DC Motor Speed Control System for Handpieces)

  • 본 논문에서는 미용 목적의 핸드피스에 사용가능한 BLDC 모터의 속도 제어 시스템을 구현한다. 저비용 개발을 위해 모터 내부의 홀 센서 값을 속도 제어에 이용하였다. 모터 전원 회로와 드라이버 회로는 가정용 220V 전원을 입력으로 사용하도록 설계하였으며 별도의 다른 전원은 필요로 하지 않는다. 핸드피스 작업 시 발생하는 부하 변동에 따른 급속한 속도 증가를 방지하기 위해 별도의 과속 방지 제어기를 탑재하였다. 개발된 제어 시스템은 5,000~30,000 RPM 구간에서 운용 가능하다. 본 연구에서 개발된 핸드피스 모듈에서 부하 변동이 있음에도 불구하고 모터의 속도가 일정하게 유지됨을 실험으로 입증한다.

위치 및 속도검출기 없는 BLDC 전동기의 속도제어에 관한 연구 (Speed Control of a Sensorless BLDC Motor)

  • BLDC motor is widely used as a servo motor, because it has high efficiency, high power ratio, low inertia, and easy maintenance. However, position and speed sensors generally attached in BLDC motor increase motor cost, and limit environments of application. This study describes a sensorless speed control of sinusoidal BLDC motor using the d-q transformed instantaneous voltage equation, and presents the result of computer simulation. The sensorless algorithm is applied to the casse of a voltage controlled PWM inverter. The result indicates good dynamics and a robust control in cases of a load change and a system parameter variation.

BLDC 모터의 구동방법과 정밀 반복제어 (A Driving Method and Precise Repetitive Control of BLDC Motor)

  • This paper describes a fully digitalized driver for BLDC motors which is realized by a single chip microprocessor. The speed change can be done by using the signal obtained from the position detecting sensor and adjusting the pulse width at the input channel of power module. In order to establish a speed control system a repetitive control method is adopted to track a periodic refer-ence change in the BLDC motor system. The experimental results show accurate reference track-ing performance under the given periodic reference in the repetitive controller design.
