A Feasibility Study to Adopt BIM-based Infrastructure Management System (BIM기반 사회기반 시설물 유지관리 도입을 위한 경제적 타당성 분석)

  • BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a new paradigm that includes construction life-cycle, and BIM has become mandatory regulation according to the Public Procurement Service since 2016, which accelerates its application. BIM is now expand from architectural field to infrastructure industry. Through pilot projects, BIM has been challenged with verification process. This trend has affected to maintenance and operation (M&O) phase of construction life-cycle. Advanced country has already published their research and result with feasibility study and guidelines. In this paper, we conduct the feasibility study to adopt BIM-based infrastructure management system. Bridges and tunnels were selected as application target, and benefit/cost ratio were used. The result shows that BIM-based infrastructure management system is feasible when the level of detail is more than "Medium" in bridge, and "High" in tunnel.

  • Becoming construction projects larger and more complicated, and utilizing more varied and complex contracting and delivery systems in the industry, integrating information and managing constructability from project inception to completion became the most critical tasks for the successful project management. However, current industry practices of constructability analysis which are too much dependent on field engineers and managers' experiences, are not performed efficiently and also not managed effectively. Then the scope, method, and procedure in performing analysis tasks are not certain as well as not systematic, In addition, due to using 2D based drawings and documents, information required at project phases for the analysis is inconsistent and inaccurate. This study aims to suggest the use of BIM technology and functions for solving various problems of current constructability practices. In particular, constructability analysis tasks performed at design and construction stages are identified and their adaptability, applicability, and benefits of BIM are investigated through interviews on constructability and BIM professionals in the industry.

  • Recently, construction projects have become bigger and complicated and the construction business scale has enlarged. Therefore a project cost size is increasing. The historical data can be easily saved by advanced technologies of IT industries. Utilizing those make us to be able to manage construction project more effectively. These days, PMIS (Project Management Information System) has supplied widely at construction companies for integrating cooperation system of Web environment. and it is being used. However the most PMIS is limited at construction phase. Actually it isn't applied to a construction project Life-Cycle(planning, design, construction and maintenance). To control manage a construction project Life-Cycle effectively, BPMS (BIM-based PMIS Modeling) should be considered. This paper suggests the ways for applying BPMS.

  • 건축, 토목 분야의 정보 교환을 위한 표준으로 주목받고 있는 BIM 모델의 국제 표준인 IFC 표준을 위해, 소프트웨어가 IFC 표준에 맞게 유효한 정보를 입출력 하도록 도와주고, IFC 파일이 표준에 맞는지 검증할 수 있는 모듈을 개발했다. 특히, 지역별 및 국가별 상황에 맞게 BIM 모델을 수정하거나 확장해 사용하도록 권고하고 있는 상황에서 다양한 확장 IFC 표준을 효과적으로 지원할 수 있도록 IFC 표준을 정의하는 EXPRESS 언어로부터, 객체 지향 언어를 위한 소프트웨어 개발 라이브러리를 자동으로 생성하고, 해당 SDK를 활용해 IFC 모델을 검증하는 라이브러리를 자동으로 생성하며, IFC 파일을 검증할 수 있는 독립적인 실행 파일도 자동으로 생성할 수 있도록 했다. 또한 객체 지향 라이브러리를 사용함으로써 주어진 IFC 모델을 효과적으로 문서화 할 수 있도록 HTML 생성 도구를 개발하거나 3차원 형상 확인이 가능하도록 VRML 생성 도구를 개발하는 등의 작업이 쉽게 이뤄짐을 확인했다. 이렇게 자동화된 BIM 소프트웨어 개발 도구는 IFC 모델의 수정이나 확장을 고려하는 BIM 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트의 생산성을 향상시키고, 해당 시스템의 운영에 신뢰도를 높이는 것은 물론이며, 향후 국내 실정에 맞게 운영될 BIM 인증 제도에도 활용하면 기존의 수작업 방식 인증제도에 비해 인증에 걸리는 시간과 비용을 줄이는 것은 물론 인증 자체의 객관성과 정확성, 투명성과 신뢰성을 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • According to the obligation of BIM application, the guidelines of energy simulation based on BIM are being presented. Although there is the advantage to minimize the error in energy analysis using the energy model, there are still issues about insufficient standards and the compatibility of the gbXML. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the processes to utilize and apply BIM methods for energy simulation. This study was examined on the compatibility of data for energy simulation by the gbXML schema and energy efficiency by BIM.

  • 본 연구는 개방형 BIM 환경의 품질관리 기준 확보를 목적으로 건설 산업의 공통업무분야와 추가적인 세부업무분야에 대한 품질관리 체크리스트를 제안하고자 한다. 공통업무는 일반적인 목적으로 적용 가능한 설계기준, 시설기준, 시공기준으로 대상을 분류하고, 세부업무는 초고층 건축물의 개방형 BIM적용 및 활용 목적에 따라 피난동선 검토, 에너지 분석 검토 측면으로 대상을 분류하여 각 분야 별 체크리스트를 도출하였다. 도출된 체크리스트가 검증을 통해 실무에 적용되면 BIM 모델의 작성 기준 및 지침과 연계되어 요구되는 조건들을 충족시키는 모델링을 유도하며 BIM 모델의 품질향상의 결과를 가져다 줄 것이라 기대한다.

  • The purposes of this study are to analyze risks of construction step BIM(Building Information Modeling) applied project and improve it. Recently, construction industry has emphasized an importance of BIM for efficient utilization of various information. In the whole life cycle of huge construction project, there are cases introducing BIM and projects applying BIM are gradually increased to the work of construction step. However, the process of communication is not established, so the contents of BIM process of construction step are just showing rough fields and concepts of working utilization, so it's restrictive to utilize BIM actively on constructions step. Through results of case study in this research, constructor risks of BIM business should be efficiently treated with Fuzzy-FMEA that is more precise than existing danger evaluation.

  • With the recent emergence of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the government is promoting the development of smart construction technology and institutional improvement through various policies to induce cutting-edge and technological innovation in the construction industry. As part of such smart construction technology, the application of BIM is being activated, and related regulations and guidelines are constantly being supplemented. In relation to BIM, there are many studies on the fields of library, design standards etc., but research on specific unit price utilization and unit price DB construction for calculating construction cost is insufficient. Therefore, in this study, a basic study was conducted on the linkage of the construction standard market unit price and the BIM library. Based on the basic research conducted in the future, we intend to establish specific standards for calculating BIM-based construction costs.

Automatic Classification of Bridge Component based on Deep Learning (딥러닝 기반 교량 구성요소 자동 분류)

  • Recently, BIM (Building Information Modeling) are widely being utilized in Construction industry. However, most structures that have been constructed in the past do not have BIM. For structures without BIM, the use of SfM (Structure from Motion) techniques in the 2D image obtained from the camera allows the generation of 3D model point cloud data and BIM to be established. However, since these generated point cloud data do not contain semantic information, it is necessary to manually classify what elements of the structure. Therefore, in this study, deep learning was applied to automate the process of classifying structural components. In the establishment of deep learning network, Inception-ResNet-v2 of CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) structure was used, and the components of bridge structure were learned through transfer learning. As a result of classifying components using the data collected to verify the developed system, the components of the bridge were classified with an accuracy of 96.13 %.

  • Construction industries have increasingly utilized Building information Modeling (BIM) technologies. Interoperability - the capability for BIM data to run from one computer application to another in the life cycle of a project has become one of the principal research areas. Enhancing interoperability inevitably requires information structures that are standardized throughout the construction industries. As a candidate of the data exchange standard, Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) has been developed and several researches recently performed to measure its richness of digital data exchange. But doubts have been brought up whether IFC meets a sufficient level of interoperability since the research result revealed a number of cases of information misrepresentation and loss. This research presents the lessons learned from the interoperability tests of three widely used 3D design applications including Graphisoft's Archicad, Autodesk's Revit, and Bentley's Bentley Architecture. One building's architectural and structural design data were modeled with the three tools and exchanged through IFC respectively for interoperability test.
