  • Textile-reinforced concrete composite (TRC) is a new alternative material that can satisfy sustainable development needs in the civil engineering field. Its mechanical behaviour and properties have been identified from the experimental works. However, it is necessary for a numerical approach to consider the effect of the parameters on TRC's behaviour with lower analysis duration and cost related to the experiment. This paper presents obtained results of the numerical modelling for TRC composite using the cracking model for the cementitious matrix in TRC. As a result, the TRC composite exhibited a strain-hardening behaviour with the cracking phase characterized by the drops in tensile stress on the stress-strain curve. This model also showed the failure mode by multi-cracking on the TRC specimen surface. Furthermore, the parametric studies showed the effect of several parameters on the TRC tensile behaviour, as the reinforcement ratio, the length and position of the deformation measurement zone, and elevated temperatures. These numerical results were compared with the experiment and showed a remarkable agreement for all cases of this study.

  • In this paper, an application of finite element procedure fur tunnel failure analysis has been studied. The numerical model is applied to the simulation of a series of plane strain laboratory tests on the small scale model of a shallow tunnel. By comparing experimental and numerical results some conclusions are drawn on the effectiveness of the numerical approach. The findings from these numerical experiments show relative differences in the pattern of failure behaviour for shallow tunnels.

  • The high temperature mechanical behaviour of duplex stainless steels was examined. The relation-ship between the dynamic recrystallization substructures and the flow behaviour was analyzed in detail, and the flow behaviour was analyzed in detail, and the mechanisms of dynamic recrystallization were also discussed. The formation of disloca-tion cells and subgrain structures is of great significance to the understanding of high temperature deformation.

  • In the recent several years the theory of impulsive differential equations has made a rapid progress (see [1] and [2] and the references there). The questions of stability and periodicity of the solutions of these equations have been elaborated in sufficient details while their asymptotic behaviour has been little studied. In the present paper the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions of linear impulsive differential equations is investigated, generalizing the results of J. W. Macki and J.S. Muldowney, 1970 [3], related to ordinary differential equations without impulses.

  • The present paper describes an experimental study on the corrosive behaviour of Rolling stock structures. It is important to predict corrosive behaviour of rolling stock structures for safe service and to know relation between corrosion and fatigue life. This paper practiced electrochemical corrosion test of SS400 and SM490A. This study will examine the corrosive properties and differences of SS400 and SM490A from measuring corrosion potential and corrosion current density.

  • Overconsolidated clays have a different stress history according to the deposit environment. The stress history is classified into (i) rotation angle of stress path, (ii) overconsolidation ratio, and (iii) magnitude of length of recent stress path. Stress-strain behaviour of overconsolidated clays strongly depends on these stress history. In this study a series of drained stress path tests were carried out. Test results indicated that stress-strain behaviour of overconsolidated clay(focused on strain rate) depends on OCR and length of recent stress path, especially rotation angle.

  • A brief review of previous studies on the behaviour of concrete at extremely low temperature is presented in this paper. In addition, to describe temperature dependent behaviour of concrete, simple piecewise linear stress-strain relation is introduced. The proposed curve shows good agreement with experimental stress-strain curves at various temperature conditions. Moreover, numerical analyses for two PC beams are conducted to verify the influence of extremely low temperature to the structural behaviour.

  • During the past decade, many electrical transmission tower structures have failed during downburst events. This study is a part of a research program aimed to understand the behaviour of transmission lines under such localized wind events. The present study focuses on assessing the behaviour of self supported transmission line towers under downburst loading. A parametric study is performed to determine the critical downburst configurations causing maximum axial forces for various members of a tower. The sensitivity of the internal forces developing in the tower's members to changes in the downburst size and location was studied. The structural behaviour associated with the critical downburst configurations is described and compared to the behaviour under 'normal' wind loads.
