  • Morning grooming is a ritual daily held for transition from private to public life of an individual. Based on the previous literature's definition of the ritual characteristics, this study aims to identify the meaning of grooming rituals that are repeatedly performed every morning. Although many studies have conducted ritualistic analysis of the behaviors that are closely related to daily life, few studies analyze grooming from a ritualistic perspective. Establishing the ritual - that is, a person's distinct behavioral pattern-as the core concept, this study reveals the relationship between ritual performers and the ritual's composition to identify the meaning of the grooming ritual. The study conducts qualitative research with ten participants to identify the ritual characteristics of every-morning grooming and the factors that influence this ritual. Considering everyday grooming as a behavioral pattern that possesses mostly ritualistic elements, the study examines both the external characteristics that are shown through the methods of grooming and the internal characteristics that reflect the inherent symbolic meaning. This study contributes to extending the scope of the field. By understanding the factors that influence grooming rituals, companies can communicate their marketing messages regarding the step-by-step approach to grooming, thereby supporting consumers to effectively use various grooming products.

  • This study segmented the market of senior rural tourists and analyzed their characteristics. A two-stage cluster analysis was used to analyze the types of senior rural tourists, and the difference in general characteristics and behavioral intention by segmented market was identified. In this study, data from the fact-finding survey on rural tourism 2022 were used, and 487 cases of senior with rural tourism experience in the past year were used for analysis. A total of three types of senior rural tourists were derived based on the motivation for rural tourism, annual expenditure for rural tourism, experience living in rural areas, and relationship with rural area. The segmentation market of senior rural tourists was found to be 'rural attachment type', 'rural curiosity type', and 'rural indifference type'. The results of this study suggest that the general characteristics and behavioral intentions of senior rural tourists differ according to the segment. The results of this study will be useful information in establishing effective marketing strategies targeting senior rural tourists.

  • Tunnel measurements provide crucial information on the ground stability during the excavation, visualizing the ground behavioral characteristics with quantitative dada. Generally, the frequency of the measurements is greater during the early stage of the tunnelling process and reduced with time. However, there are no quantitative criteria established for either the activities, such as the time, location and frequency of the measurement or the management guidance, especially for the site of subtle and unexpected displacement during the excavation. It is, however, still challenging to assess behavioral characteristics of subtle and unexpected displacement after stabilization. In this study, we propose a new method to assess stability and to analysis the behavioral characteristics of subtle and unexpected displacement after stabilization using statistic control charts of displacements. We also present a test result on the applicability of control chart and CUSUM control chart to measured displacements.

  • PURPOSES : In this study, we analyzed the road crossing behavior of older pedestrians on a mid-block signalized crosswalk, and compared it to that of younger pedestrians. In addition, we analyzed the correlation between accidents involving older pedestrians while crossing roads and their behavioral characteristics. Finally, we confirmed the reasons for an increase in accidents involving older pedestrians. METHODS : First, 30 areas with the highest incidence of accidents involving older pedestrians while crossing roads were selected as target areas for analysis. Next, we measured the start-up delay (the time elapsed from the moment the signal turns green to the moment the pedestrian starts walking) and head movement (the number of head turns during crossing a road) of 900 (450 older and 450 younger) pedestrians. The next step was to conduct a survey and confirm the differences in judgment between older and younger pedestrians about approaching vehicles. Finally, we analyzed the correlation between the survey results and traffic accidents. RESULTS : The average start-up delay and head movement of the older pedestrians was 1.58 seconds and 3.15 times, respectively. A definite correlation was obtained between head movement and the frequency of pedestrian traffic accidents. The results of our survey indicate that 17.3% of the older pedestrians and 7.8% of the younger pedestrians have a high crash risk. CONCLUSIONS : Behavioral characteristics of older pedestrians were closely correlated with accidents involving older pedestrians while crossing roads in mid-block signalized crosswalks. Our study indicates that in order to reduce the number of accidents involving older pedestrians, it is necessary to develop an improvement plan including measures such as installation of safety facilities taking the behavioral characteristics of older pedestrians into consideration and their safety education.

  • This study searched the perception of observational evaluation system in visual art which elementary and middle school teachers have in mind. As results, observational evaluation system in visual art is widely accepted as important and efficient to diagnose the artistic giftedness. At the same time, subjectiveness of the system might be advantageous for student for whom teacher get favor and in-service program related to observational evaluation system is insufficient comparing to the demand from field. In spite of this, the scale for behavioral characteristics of the gifted in visual art and the test for artistic task performance are recognized as the most important and needed tools for evaluating artistic giftedness. Following the results, in order to raise up the validity and reliability of evaluation in visual art, the scales for behavioral characteristics of the gifted in visual art and the test for artistic task performance should be developed first and foremost.
