Scientometric Analysis for Biodiesel (바이오디젤 학술 정보분석)

  • Biodiesel is an important new alternative transportation fuel and it can be produced by chemically reacting a fat or oil with an alcohol, in the presence of a catalyst. The product of the reaction is a mixture of methyl esters, which are known as biodiesel, and glycerol, which is a high value co-product. The process is known as transesterification. Biodiesel can be used neat and when used as a pure fuel it is known as BD100. However, it is often blended with petroleum-based diesel fuel and when this is done the blend is designated BD5 or BD20(BD20 is a blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel fuel). Adherence to a quality standard is essential for proper performance of the fuel in the engine and will be necessary for widespread use of biodiesel. In this study, we analyzed 4,144 papers of biodiesel by category, country, institution, keyword etc. from 2001 to 2013 years.

Breed Effects of Terminal Sires on Carcass Traits and Real Retail Cut Yields in Commercial Pig Industry (종료웅돈이 비육돈의 도체성적 및 부분육 실중량에 미치는 영향)

  • Data of 369 commercial pigs produced from YorkshrexLancrace (YL F1) sows crossed with either Duroc (D), Berkshire (B) or BerkshirexDuroc(BD F1) as a terminal sire were used for the comparison of carcass garde and real retail cut yield. The crosses were performed between May, 2004 and May, 2006 at three interrlated farms belonging to the Gyeongam pork brand. The average carcass weight, carcass backfat thickness, carcass rate, AB grade ratio, lean meat yield were 84.78±0.33kg, 20.72±0.237mm, 76.25±0.208%, 85.7% and 44.30±0.158%, respectively. The average weights of real retail cut were 10.32±0.062kg belly, 4.17±0.025kg boston butt, 3.88±0.022kg rib, 8.40±0.040kg picnic, 15.15±0.081kg ham, 6.44±0.043kg loin and 0.94±0.006kg tender loin. In comparisons of carcass traits among cross types, carcass weights and backfat thicknesses of YL(♀)×B(♂), YL(♀)×BD(♂) and YL(♀)×D(♂) were 85.73±0.516kg, 82.69±0.788kg and 84.79±0.603kg, respectively and 22.09±0.356mm, 20.33±0.543mm and 19.58±0.415mm, respectively. The YL(♀)×B(♂) cross showed the highest carcass weight and backfat thickness. The ratio of AB grade were 0.83±0.030% in YL(♀)×B(♂), 0.97±0.046% in YL(♀)×BD(♂) and 0.83±0.035% in YL(♀)×D(♂), and the YL(♀)×BD(♂) was higher than other two crosses. Weights of belly were 10.28±0.092kg in YL(♀)×B(♂), 10.59±0.133kg in YL(♀)×BD(♂) and 10.25±0.107kg in YL(♀)×D(♂). Consequently, the YL(♀)×BD(♂) cross showed the highest yield. In conclusion, there was no difference in carcass yield of commercial pigs derived from BD (F1) terminal sires with those from D terminal sires. However, weight of belly and AB grade ratio from BD (F1) terminal sires are higher than two others. Therefore, BD (F1) sire could be utilized as terminal one and contribute better profit for the pig industry.

Changes in Serum Lipid Components and Blood Glucose by Krill (Euphausia superba) Meal and NaF in Rats (크릴 분말 및 NaF 첨가 식이가 흰쥐의 혈청 지질성분 및 혈당 변동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to examine the changes in serum lipid components and blood glucose by krill (Euphausia superba) meal and sodium fluoride (NaF) in rats fed on experimental diets and administered orally to NaF 10 mg for 5 weeks. Body weight of rats decreased as the amount of krill meal diet increased, it was observed the basal diet plus NaF group (BF group) compared to the lower basal diet group (BD group). The serum concentrations of total cholesterol, LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, free cholesterol, triglyceride (TG), phospholipid (PL) and blood glucose in serum were higher in the BF group than the 10% krill meal group plus NaF 10 mg (KF10 group) or BD group, the 20% krill meal plus NaF 10 mg group (KF20 group), the 30% krill meal plus NaF 10 mg group (KF30 group). Conversely depending on the content of krill meal for the HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol level, it showed higher results. The concentration of total protein was no significant difference among the groups (p<0.05). The results indicate that a krill meal diet effectively inhibited increases in lipid elevation and blood glucose level in the sera of rats.

The purpose of this study was to compare GRF characteristics during forward and backward walking over 20 degree ramp. Temporal parameters, GRFs, displacement of center of pressure (DCP), and loading and decay rates were determined for each trial. The results showed that the vertical GRF in BD during RTO was significantly greater than those found in FU. This reults indicated that GRF patterns may be changed by different walking conditions and altering position of ankle, knee, and center of mass throughout the walking cycle. The DCP during $RHC_2$-LHC in antero-posterior direction for downward was smaller than the corresponding value for upward condition. It' seems that the ankle and knee joints are locked in an awkward fashion at the toe contact to compensate for imbalance. Reducing the magnitude of loading rate can be achieved by walking in the backward direction. Accordingly, the results can be a benefit if one is suffering from an impact-type injury.

Experimental Study on the Emission Characteristics of Diesel, GTL, and their Blends with Biodiesel in a Diesel Engine (디젤엔진에서 디젤, GTL, 바이오디젤의 혼합유의 배기배출물 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • An experimental study was carried out to investigate the emission characteristics for various alternative fuels in a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine. The conventional diesel fuel, neat GTL (Gas to Liquid), blends of diesel and biodiesel(BD20), and blends of GTL and biodiesel(G+BD20 and G+BD40) were applied, and their emission characteristics were compared at various steady-state engine operating conditions. A noticeable reduction of exhaust emissions compared to conventional diesel fuel, except for NOx emission, was observed for G+BD40, where there is a maximum 30% averaged reduction for gaseous emissions (THC and CO) and 70% for PM mass concentrations. When comparing PM size distributions for biodiesel blended fuels, the PM number concentration in accumulation mode, where the diameter of PM is greater than 50 nm, decreased due to additional oxygen content in the biodiesel fuel; in nucleation mode, where the diameter of PM is less than 50nm, there was a slight increase or decrease in the PM number concentration depending on the amount of oxygen available in the combustion chamber.

Comparisons of Phoria Test Among Prism Settings of Von Graefe Technique (Von Graefe법의 프리즘 세팅에 따른 사위검사의 비교)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the differences among prism settings of the von Graefe technique for phoria measurement. Methods: Thirty eight healthy subjects (mean age $22.35{\pm}2.72years$) were tested with eye examination by interview, cover test, and refraction. Phorias were measured in a random order using four prism settings for the von Graefe method: base-in (BI) and base-up (BU), BI and base-down (BD), BU and BI, and BD and BI over the right and left eye, respectively. Results: Among the four prism settings in measurements of lateral and vertical phoria, there were not significant differences at distance, whereas there were significant at near. The reliability of near lateral phoria (ICC: 0.95) was good, but that of near vertical phoria was less reliable (ICC: 0.83). In comparisons of the paired t-test, the 95% limits of agreement, and mean difference between prism settings, BU had more useful than other prism settings at near phoria. Conclusions: Results from this study suggest that the von Graefe test with BU or BU including other setting prisms have useful methods, especially for near phoria measurements.

Annealing Effects on $Q_{BD}$ of Ultra-Thin Gate Oxide Grown on Nitrogen Implanted Silicon (열처리 효과가 질소이온주입후에 성장시킨 산화막의 $Q_{BD}$ 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Ultra-thin gate oxide was grown on nitrogen implanted silicon substrates. For nitrogen implantation, the energy was fixed at 25keV, but the dose was split into 5.0$\times$10$^{13}$ /c $m^{2}$ and 1.0$\times$10$^{14}$ /c $m^{2}$. The grown gate oxide thickness were 2nm, 3nm and 4nm. The oxidation time to grow 3nm was increased by 20% and 50% for the implanted wafers of 5.0$\times$10$^{13}$ /c $m^{2}$ and 1.0$\times$10$^{14}$ /c $m^{2}$ doses, respectively, when it was compared with control wafers which were not implanted by nitrogen. The value of charge-to-breakdown ( $Q_{BD}$ ) is decreased with increasing nitrogen doses. If an annealing process( $N_{2}$, 85$0^{\circ}C$, 60min.) is peformed after nitrogen implantation, $Q_{BD}$ is increased. It is indicated that nitrogen implantation damage affect gate oxide reliability and the damage can be removed by post-implantation annealing process.

Performance Analysis of Screen Contents Coding Tools to Reduce Inter-Color Component Correlation (색 공간 내 중복 정보 감소를 위한 HEVC 스크린 콘텐츠 부호화 기법 성능 분석)

  • JCT-VC (Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding) continues developing HEVC/Screen Content Coding (HEVC/SCC) as an extension for efficiently coding screen content videos, including computer animations, graphics, and electrical documents, based on HEVC/Range extension (HEVC/RExt.). Color space conversion from RGB space being captured from CCD sensors is popular in natural video coding. However, the conversion is often undesired for screen contents because of a significant loss in perceptual quality. Therefore, several coding tools including cross-component prediction (CCP) and in-loop adaptive color space transform (ACST) have been developed for an efficient screen content video coding in order to reduce the redundancies between color spaces while maintaining the original color space. In this paper, we review the two coding tools, i.e., CCP and ACST exploiting the correlation in the RGB color space and conduct the performance analysis of the coding tools. In our simulation results, CCP and ACST provide 11.7% BD-rate saving and 16.4% BD-rate saving, respectively, while the two coding tools provide 18.2% BD-rate saving in total. Following this idea, if the two coding tools are exclusively selected, we provide 93% encoding measurement time with a 0.3% coding loss.

Synthesis of Poly(alkyl methacrylate)s Containing Various Side Chains for Pour Point Depressants (서로 다른 측쇄 구조를 가진 폴리(알킬 메타크릴레이트)계의 저온유동성 향상제 합성)

  • n-Paraffin and saturated fatty acid methyl esters in the diesel and bio-diesel fuel crystallize at low temperature. Many articles have addressed various solutions for the low temperature crystallization problem and one of them is the use of methacrylate copolymers. In this work, we synthesized a series of copolymers in the reaction condition of 70 : 30 molar ratio of lauryl methacrylate (LMA) (or stearyl methacrylate (SMA)) and alkyl methacrylates. The structures of the copolymers were characterized by $^1H$-NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy, and the molecular weight of copolymers were obtained from Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) method. The concentrations of additives were 500~1000 ppm and 1000~10000 ppm in diesel fuels and bio-diesel fuel (BD5 and BD20), respectively. The addition of copolymers changes the many properties of fuel such as the pour point (PP), cloud point (CP) and cold filtering plugging point (CFPP). For example, the low temperature properties of the copolymers containing SMA ($PSMAmR_2n$) were excellently improved about 15, 7, and $10^{\circ}C$ for PP, CP and CFPP, respectively.

Studies on antibiotics resistance gene in Staphylococcus aureun Plasmid: Cloning of chloramphenicol resistance determinant (Staphylococcus aureus에서 분리된 plasmid상의 항생물질 저항성 인자에 관한 연구 : Chloramphenicol 저항성 인자의 클로닝)

  • R-plasmid(pSBK203, 2.5Mdal) conferring chloramphenicol resistance was isolated from mutiple antibiotic resistant Staphylococcus aureus D-H-1. Bacillus subtilis BD170 was transformed by this plasmid and restriction enzyme clevage sites of this plasmid were mapped for the cloning of chloramphenicol resistance gene. Taq I partial digested fragment of pSBK203(1.3kb) inserted into Cla I site of pBD9 appears to have both regulatory region for induction and structural gene for chloramphenicol resistance whereas Rsa I fragment (1.3kb, both ends are staggered away 0.1Kb from those of Taq I fragment) inserted into Sca I site of pBR322 showed constitutive expression in E. coli. Hinf I, Taq I, and Bgl II restriction enzyme recognition sites are found in both Rsa I fragment and Taq I fragment. Among these, Bgl II recognition site was associated with chloramphenicol resistance.
