무선 근거리 통신망에서의 BRAM(The Broadcast Recognizing Access Method) 프로토콜 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of a BRAM (The Broadcast Recognizing Aceess Method) Protocol in a Wireless LAN)

  • In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of a BRAM (The Broadcasting Recognizing Access Method) protocol, as a CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance) scheme, which is widely used in wireles LAN systems. We have selected a Fair BRAM protocol among CSMA/CA schemes, considering the fairness of channel usage and the simplicity of the protocol. We have compared the performance of BRAM protocol to that of CSMA/CD. to research the characteristics of BRAM in wireless LAN system. In order to analyze the performance of this system, we have set up an imbedded Markov chain and calculated state transition probabilities. Then we have calculated steady state probabilities and finally derived the throughput of a Fair BRAM moder. To verify our analysis, we have simulated practical models. Then, we have found that analytic results are very close to simulation ones. Our analysis of the BRAM protocol will be expected to be very helpful to design and evaluate a MAC (Media Access Control) protocol in wireless LAN systems.

  • This paper presents a new concept for controlling of under actuated robot manipulators with avoiding obstacles using switching computed torque method (SCTM). One fundamental approach of this algorithm is to use the partly stable controllers (PSCs) in order to fulfill the ultimate control objective. Here, we use genetic algorithms (GA)in order to employ the optimum control action for a given time frame with the available set of elemental controllers, depending on which links/variables are controlled, i.e. the selection of optimum switching sequence of the control actions. The proposed approach models links of the robot using evolving ellipses and then introduces a penalty scheme for the objective function of GA when it detects collisions. An under actuated robot manipulator, which has three detrees-of-freedom is taken into consideration so as to illustrate the design procedure. Simulation results show the e.ectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper a time-optimal path planning scheme for the multiple robot manipulators will be proposed by using hopfield neural network. The time-optimal path planning, which can allow multiple robot system to perform the demanded tasks with a minimum execution time and collision avoidance, may be of consequence to improve the productivity. But most of the methods proposed till now suffers from a significant computational burden and thus limits the on-line application. One way to avoid such a difficulty is to rearrange the problem as MTSP(Multiple Travelling Salesmen Problem) and then apply the Hopfield network technique, which can allow the parallel computation, to the minimum time problem. This paper proposes an approach for solving the time-optimal path planning of the multiple robots by using Hopfield neural network. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by computer simulation.

Rate Adaptation with Q-Learning in CSMA/CA Wireless Networks

  • In this study, we propose a reinforcement learning agent to control the data transmission rates of nodes in carrier sensing multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA)-based wireless networks. We design a reinforcement learning (RL) agent, based on Q-learning. The agent learns the environment using the timeout events of packets, which are locally available in data sending nodes. The agent selects actions to control the data transmission rates of nodes that adjust the modulation and coding scheme (MCS) levels of the data packets to utilize the available bandwidth in dynamically changing channel conditions effectively. We use the ns3-gym framework to simulate RL and investigate the effects of the parameters of Q-learning on the performance of the RL agent. The simulation results indicate that the proposed RL agent adequately adjusts the MCS levels according to the changes in the network, and achieves a high throughput comparable to those of the existing data transmission rate adaptation schemes such as Minstrel.

  • Five-axis NC machining, in general, is utilized in fabricating impellers, turbine blades, marine propellers that can be machined more effectively rather than three-axis machining. There have been many researches concerning tool interference avoidance, optimization of tool orientation. The C-space or Configuration-space was originated from the robotics area, which depicts interference-free joint-values in motion planning. In the paper we propose an optimizing scheme by which the maximum effective-radius of a face-milling cutter can be achieved for each CC(cutter-contact) point. Also the concept of a C-space for a CC point, the effective-radius map for 5-axis face-milling, and some illustrative examples of marine propeller machining, are presented.

  • IP 네트워크 상에 TCP 데이터 트래픽의 제공은 처리율과 공정성을 향상시키기 위해 특별한 기법이 필요하다. 여기에는 DT와 RED와 같은 많은 기법들이 제안되었다. RED 알고리즘은 폭주를 회피하고 적은 지연과 높은 처리율을 유지하기 위한 목적으로 제안되었다. 현재의 TCP/IP 환경에서 TCP 근원지는 Slow-Start 단계에 들어감으로써 드롭된 패킷에 반응하지만, 네트워크 이용률은 급속히 떨어진다. 폭주를 탐지하고, 이를 무작위로 선택된 연결에 통보하므로써 RED는 글로벌 동기화 및 공정성 문제를 유발한다. 본 논문에서는 성능을 향상시키기 위해 공정성을 유지하고, 글로벌 동기화 문제를 해결할 수 있는 능동적인 큐 관리 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 버퍼크기와 임계치 변화에 따른 goodput, 처리율, 공정성의 평가인자를 이용하여 기존의 기법인 DT, RED와 비교 분석을 수행하고, 제안된 기법의 타당성을 보인다.

  • In recent years, AGVs(Automated Guided Vehicles) have received growing attention as a subsystem of the integrated container operating system which enables unmanned control. improvement of job reliability, accuracy and productivity. Therefore, a number of works have been done to enhance the performance AGVs. In this paper. job deployment and a dynamic routing control system composed of supervisor, traffic controller. motion controller and routing table are discussed. A simple job deployment scheme and an efficient dynamic routing algorithm incorporating with the deadlock prediction and avoidance algorithm are investigated.

Dynamic Contention Window based Congestion Control and Fair Event Detection in Wireless Sensor Network

  • Congestion in WSN increases energy dissipation rates of sensor nodes as well as loss of packets and thereby hinders fair and reliable event detections. We find that one of the key reasons of congestion in WSN is allowing sensing nodes to transfer as many packets as possible. This is due to the use of CSMA/CA that gives opportunistic media access control. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient congestion avoidance protocol that includes source count based hierarchical and load adaptive medium access control. Our proposed mechanism ensures load adaptive media access to the nodes and thus achieves fairness in event detection. The results of simulation show our scheme exhibits more than 90% delivery ratio with retry limit 1, even under bursty traffic condition which is good enough for reliable event perception.

Buffer and Rate Control Based Congestion Avoidance in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Due to dense deployment and innumerable amount of traffic flow in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), congestion becomes more common phenomenon from simple periodic traffic to unpredictable bursts of messages triggered by external events. Even for simple network topology and periodic traffic, congestion is a likely event due to dynamically time varying wireless channel condition and contention caused due to interference by concurrent transmissions. In this paper, we have proposed three mechanisms: upstream source count and buffer based rate control and snoop based MAC level ACK scheme to avoid congestion. The simulation results show that our proposed mechanism achieves around 80% delivery ratio even under bursty traffic condition

불규칙적 무선센서네트워크에 강한 위치기반 다중경로 제공 방안 (A Robust Disjoint Multipath Scheme based on Geographic Routing in Irregular Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 무선센서네트워크는 전력 공급이 제한적인 대규모의 센서 노드들로 구성되어 있다. 에너지 비용의 최소화와 여러 홉을 거쳐 싱크 노드까지 안정적으로 데이터전송의 신뢰성을 높이는 것은 매우 중요한 요소이다. 데이터 전송의 신뢰성을 높이는 방안으로 다중경로 라우팅 방안이 제시되고 있다. 플러딩 기반의 다중경로 라우팅 방식은 불규칙적 무선센서네트워크에서도 효과적으로 다중경로를 구성할 수 있는 장점이 있지만 전원 공급에서 제약이 많은 무선센서네트워크에서는 적합하지 않은 라우팅 방식이다. 그러나 최소의 오버헤드를 가진 지역 위치정보를 이용하는 위치기반 라우팅 방식은 비플러딩 방식으로 무선센서네트워크에서 효율적인 방식이지만 다중경로 구성 시 데이터 패킷의 충돌을 유발할 수 있다. 패킷 충돌을 제어할 수 있는 방안으로 다중경로 파이프라인 개념을 도입하였지만 홀과 같은 불규칙적 네트워크에서는 파이프라인을 구성하기가 어렵다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 가상 그리드 좌표 상에서 위치기반 포워딩 방식과 다중경로 상의 홀 회피 알고리즘이 결합된 새로운 다중경로 라우팅 방식을 제안한다. 제안된 다중경로 방식은 불규칙적 무선센서네트워크에서 효율적이고 전송 신뢰성을 높일 수 있는 노드 분리된 다중경로(multipath) 파이프라인을 구성할 수 있는 방식이다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 이러한 주장의 타당성을 제공한다.
