Objectives : To investigate the therapeutic effects of SBVP in the treatment of patients with cancer-related pain. Design : A prospective randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of SBVP. Setting : The study was conducted at the East West Cancer Center of Daejeon University Dunsan Oriental Hospital from March 1, 2007 to June 20, 2007. Patients : 11 patients diagnosed with cancer-related pain of over 3rd degree on the Numeric Rating Scale(NRS)(0, no pain at all, 10, worst pain imaginable) were entered into a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of SBVP. They were randomized into Groups A and B(SBVP and control group, respectively) using the table of random sampling numbers and never informed of their affiliation by the coordinator. 5 of 6 patients in Group A and 4 of 5 patients in Group B completed the clinical trial. Intervention : SBVP(1ml/day) for group A and Normal Saline Placebo(1ml/day) for group B was injected into the abdomen acupoint, Zhong Wan(CV 12). The treatment was administered daily for five days. Outcome Measures : Degree of cancer-related pain was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale(NRS) before and after each treatment for "Pain right now" and "Average pain in last 24 hours". Statistical Analysis : Analysis regarding variations in NRS was carried out by applying t-tests(independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test) and Wilcoxon signed rank test with level of significance at 5%. Results : Differences in NRS of "Pain right now" for the two groups were statistically significant. The mean improvement point of SBVP was significantly higher than the control group($2.48^{\circ}{\pm}1.52$ vs $0.97^{\circ}{\pm}1.88$, p<0.05). Differences in average pain score before and after treatment in SBVP group were also significant($5.13^{\circ}{\pm}1.77$ vs $2.65^{\circ}{\pm}0.67$, p<0.05) compared with control group. The two groups showed no significant differences for long term effects in "Average pain in last 24 hours." Conclusion : Although further study will be needed on the large scale, SBVP shows potential as an effective treatment for immediate relief of cancer-related pain.
A bacteriological survey for 20 large grocery stores (M 1 to M20) in Korea was investigated for one year. The average detection rate of Esherichia coli was $22\%$ (166/763) for 7 kinds of ready-to-eat food through the year, where each grocery store and each type of food showed different detection rates. Eleven grocery stores showed lower detection rates, while 9 grocery stores showed a higher than average rate. Especially, M3 showed a rate that was twice as high as the average and one which was 7 times higher than M14, which had the lowest rate of $6\%$ E. coli detection. The detection rate for each type of food was: $38\%$ (41/109) for Kimbop, $31\%$ (34/109) for vegetable salad, $19\%$ (21/109) for bean-curd, $18\%$ (20/109) for the cooked materials used in making Kimbop, $17\%$ (19/109) for Hoe (sliced raw fish) and Sushi (Japanese vinegared rice delicacies), and $11\%$ (12/109) for cooked pork hock. During the summer, the E. coli detection rate averaged $43\%$ (71/166), which was twice as high as other seasons. Most (89/100) of the food contacting surfaces contained more than the critical limit $(1.3\;log_{10}\;CFU/10cm^2)$ of aerobic viable cell counts (AVC). The $log_{10}$ AVC and $log_{10}$ coliform count (CC) of 218 meat samples (beef, pork, and chicken) ranged between 4.6-7.1 CFU/g and 1.9-6.4 CFU/g, except for 41 meat samples $(19\%)$ which were found to contain no coliform. There was a definite correlation between the $log_{10}$ AVC and $log_{10}$ CC, and the values of $log_{10}$ CC made a more accurate straight than the $log_{10}$ AVC, which are variable. From these results, it is suggested that a detection rating of less than 2.1 CFU/g of $log_{10}$ CC (correspond to 5.0 CFU/g of $log_{10}$ AVC) is the critical point of freshness, and a rating of more than 6.3 CFU/g of $log_{10}$ CC (correspond to 7.0 CFU/g of $log_{10}$ AVC) can be considered an initial spoilage point.
In collaborative filtering systems most users do not rate preferences; so User-Item matrix shows great sparsity because it has missing values for items not rated by users. Generally, the systems predict the preferences of an active user based on the preferences of a group of users. However, default voting methods predict all missing values for all users in User-Item matrix. One of the most common methods predicting default voting values tried two different approaches using the average rating for a user or using the average rating for an item. However, there is a problem that they did not consider the characteristics of items, users, and the distribution of data set. We replace the missing values in the User-Item matrix by the default noting method using user coefficient of variance. We select the threshold of user coefficient of variance by using equations automatically and determine when to shift between the user averages and item averages according to the threshold. However, there are not always regular relations between the averages and the thresholds of user coefficient of variances in datasets. It is caused that the distribution information of user coefficient of variances in datasets affects the threshold of user coefficient of variance as well as their average. We decide the threshold of user coefficient of valiance by combining them. We evaluate our method on MovieLens dataset of user ratings for movies and show that it outperforms previously default voting methods.

Purpose : To describe clinical results and improvement of range of motion and pain after arthroscopic treatment for the athletic elbow lesion. Materials and Methods : We reviewed 13 cases of functional restriction of the elbow motion, who all patients were treated by conservative treatment during than 6 months but failed. We performed arthroscopic osteophytectomy, capsular release, spur excision. The interval from injury to operation was average of 13 months (range, eight to sixteen months). We used the Broberg and Morrey functional rating score system in evaluating result. The follow-up period averaged 6 months. Results : Arthroscopic finding that moderative to severe synovitis in all cases, intraarticular loose body in 9 cases, olecranon bony spur in 2 cases, was observed. All cases were successfully improved in range of motion and pain without in any further operation. Preoperative average score was 65 and postoperative average score was 89.4 in Broberg and Morrey functional rating score. Conclusions : Arthroscopic treatment appear to be satisfactory management modality due to diagnose the casative factor and reduce the injury around the elbow joint in painful elbow lesion. Elbow arthroscopy appears to be a safe and effective treatment for athletes, allowing easy return to participation in sports.
Purpose: We compared the results of open and arthroscopic Bankart repair in traumatic recurrent anterior dislocation ,3f the shoulder. Materials and methods: We analysed 7 cases underwent open Bankart repair (group I) and 13 cases underwent arthroscopic Bankart repair (group Ⅱ). The average follow-up period was 68.1 months (51-113 months) in group I and 41.1 months (16~57 months) in group Ⅱ. All patients in group I and Ⅱ were non-athletes. We analyzed statistically objective evaluation, such as the stability of shoulder joint, the range of motion, pain, impaired throwing, Bankart rating system by Rowe and subjective evaluation, visual analog scale (VAS) between two groups. Results: In terms of dominant and non-dominant shoulders, the age at initial episode of dislocation, the elapsed time from injury to surgery, the number of preoperative dislocations associated with susceptibility to apprehension. respectively, there was no statistically significant differences between two groups. In group I the average Rowe's scortls was 84.3 and 3 cases (43%) had excellent results,4 cases (S7cfo), good ones. In group H the average Rowe's scores was 87.3 and 7 cases (54%) had excellent results,6 cases, good ones. There was tendency to show more excellent results in group ll, but there was no statistically significant differences. The average VAS were 90.3 points in group I and 88 points in group Ⅱ, which showed also no statistically significant differences. Conclusion: Open and arthroscopic Bankart repairs had no significant difference and showed also good results in travinatic recurrent anterior dislocation of shoulder.
Background This study aimed to identify the initial diagnostic characteristics and treatment status of children with submucous cleft palate (SMCP) and to examine the relationship between the timing of surgical correction and the degree of articulation and resonance improvement. Methods This retrospective study included 72 children diagnosed with SMCP between 2008 and 2016. The evaluation criteria were the age of the initial visit, total number of visits, age at the end of treatment, speech problems, resonance problems, and speech therapy. Results Children with SMCP first visited the hospital at an average age of 34.32 months, and speech problems were identified at an average age of 48.53 months. Out of 72 children, 46 underwent surgery at an average age of 49.74 months. Four of these children required secondary surgery at an average age of 83.5 months. Among the children who underwent surgery before 3 years of age, 70% exhibited articulation improvements, with mild-to-moderate hypernasality. Articulation improvements showed no statistically significant differences according to age at the time of surgery. However, children who underwent surgery before 4 years had a better hypernasality rating than those who underwent surgery after 4 years of age. Conclusions Children with SMCP tend to undergo delayed treatment because the anatomical symptoms in some children with SMCP are unclear, and surgical interventions are considered only after speech problems are clarified. Starting interventions as early as possible reduces the likelihood of receiving secondary surgery and speech therapy, while increasing expectations for positive speech function at the end.
Purpose - Online product review has become a crucial part of the online retailer's market performance for a wide range of products. This research aims to investigate how an individual reviewer's review frequency and timing affect her/his average attitude toward products. Research design, data, and methodology - To conduct reviewer-level analysis, this study uses 42,172 posted online review messages generated by 6,941 identified reviewers for 59 movies released in the South Korea from July 2015 to December 2015. This study adopts Tobit model specification to take into account the censored nature and the selection bias arising from the nature of J-shaped distribution of movie rating. Results - Our estimation results support that the negative impact of review frequency and timing on valence. Furthermore, review timing has an inverted-U relationship with the user's average valence and enhance the negative effect of review frequency. Conclusions - This study contributes to the growing literature on the understanding how eWOM is generated at the individual consumer level. On the basis of the main empirical findings, this study provides insights into building a recommendation system in online retail store based on the consumer's review history data - frequency, timing, and valence.
The purpose of this study was to examine the entry behaviors of kindergarten children into peer dyads and the responses of the peer dyads in relation to the sex and sociometric status of the entering child. The subjects were 46 triads(138 children). Each triad consisted of two children of average peer status and one child of high/low peer status, identified by the Peer Rating Scale. The two children of the average peer status were placed in a small laboratory and were given a game to play. After the game had started, the child of high/low peer status entered into the laboratory. The behaviors of the entering child and the responses of the peer dyads were videotaped for 6 minutes. The data were analyzed by sex(2)${\times}$sociometric status (2) ANOVAs and ${\chi}^2$-tests. The results were as follows: (1)Popular children showed more group-oriented statements and fewer waiting behaviors than non-popular children. (2)Popular children elicited more positive responses and were less ignored than non-popular children. (3)The peer group responded positively to the entering child's helping, agreeing, and giving group-oriented statements, and neglected the entering child's waiting behaviors.
It is said that a mode of dietary behavior changes together with socioeconomic and cultural transformation. Formation of dietary habit of pre-school children influences upon direction of this changes, specially. So, this study was planned to analyst the dietary pattern of pre-school children. A survey was carried out for 3 days of 28 pre-school children with a mean age of 4 years and 3 months. Each child's matter wrote dietary pattern and kinds of food as staple, subsidiary and snack. The results showed that; (1) the average meal frequency a day was 3.1 and interval between meal was 5.1 hours (for breakfast to lunch & lunch to supper) and 12.6 hours (for supper to breakfast), (2) there were 27 different kinds of foods as staple and cereal products consumed the most among those, and 82 different kinds of foods as subsidiary and KIMCHI products were eaten the most rating, (3) the average snack frequency a day was 5.0. There were 76 different kinds of foods as snack, among them cold drink was the best. The present observation suggested that pre-school children had a tendency to take meat regularly, but snack very irregularly, and kinds of foods taken as staple, subsidiary and snack didn't keep the nutritional balance. Parent's concern about dietary behavior of their children is demanded more than ever.
We fabricated a resistive type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) of 3-phase $6.6 kV_{rms}$ / rating, based on YBCO thin films grown on sapphire substrates with a diameter off inch. Each element of the SFCL was designed to have the rated voltage of $600 V_{rms}$$/35A_{rms}$. The elements produced a single phase with 8${\times}$6 components connected in series and parallel. In addition, a NiCr shunt resistor of 23 $\Omega$ was connected in parallel to each of them for simultaneous quenches between the elements. Prior to investigating the performance of the 3 phase SFCL, we examined the quench characteristics for 8 elements connected in series. For all elements, simultaneous quenches and equal voltage distribution within 10% deviation from the average were obtained. Based on these results, performance of the SFCL for single line-to-ground faults was investigated. The SFCL successfully limited the fault current of $10 kA_{ rms}$ below 816 $A_{peak}$ within 0.12 msec right after the fault occurred. During the quench process, average temperature of all components did not exceed 250 K, and the SFCL was totally safe during the whole operation.
