Background: Standardized procedures for the clinical application of fire cupping methods have not been established. In particular, the pressure parameters have not been fully characterized and described. Therefore, using various materials, this study investigated the pressure range exerted during fire cupping therapy. Methods: In this study, 3 differently sized (small, medium, large) glass and bamboo cups were used in the cotton ball fire cupping procedure to measure the pressure inside the cup applied to a human skin model. The pressure in each cup was measured 15 times for a total of 90 measurements. Results: A small bamboo cup had the minimum overall pressure (-305.4 mmHg), whereas the large glass cup exerted the maximum pressure (-401.3 mmHg), followed by the medium glass cup, large bamboo cup, small glass cup, and medium bamboo cup. The average pressure exerted by the cotton ball method for all cups ranged from -348.715 mmHg to -358.694 mmHg (95% confidence interval). Overall, the glass cups had a greater pressure than the bamboo cups in all groups (p < 0.001). Among the glass cups used, the larger the size of the cup, the higher the average pressure detected (-381.947 mmHg to -391.973 mmHg; p < 0.05). Conclusion: Large glass cups which are widely used in clinical practice, when used in the fire cupping method exerted pressure ranging from -381.947 mmHg to -391.973 mmHg (95% CI).
Ginsenosides are one of the most well-known traditional herbal medicines frequently used for the treatment of cardiovascular symptoms in korea. The anti-ischemic effects of the mixture of ginsenoside $Rg_3$, and CK on ischemia-induced isolated rat heart were investigated through analyses of changes in hemodynamics ; blood pressure, aortic flow, coronary flow, and cardiac output. The subjects in this study were divided into four groups: normal control, the mixture of ginsenoside $Rg_3$ and CK, an ischemia-induced group without any treatment, and an ischemia-induced group treated with the mixture of ginsenoside $Rg_3$ and CK. There were no significant differences in perfusion pressure, aortic flow, coronary flow and cardiac output between them before ischemia was induced. The supply of oxygen and buffer was stopped for five minutes to induce ischemia in isolated rat hearts, and the mixture of ginsenoside $Rg_3$ and CK was administered during ischemia induction. Treatments of the mixture of ginsenoside $Rg_3$ and CK significantly prevented decreases in perfusion pressure, aortic flow, coronary flow, and cardiac output under ischemic conditions. In addition, hemodynamics (except heart rate) of the group treated with the mixture of ginsenoside $Rg_3$ and CK significantly recovered 60 minutes after reperfusion compared to the control group (mixture+ischemia vs ischemia - average perfusion pressure: 74.4${\pm}$2.97% vs. 85.1${\pm}$3.01%, average aortic flow volume: 49.11${\pm}$2.72% vs. 59.97${\pm}$2.93%, average coronary flow volume: 58.50${\pm}$2.81% vs. 72.72${\pm}$2.99%, and average cardiac output: 52.47${\pm}$2.78% vs. 63.11${\pm}$2.76%, p<0.01, respectively). These results suggest that treatment of the mixture of ginsenoside $Rg_3$ and CK has distinct anti-ischemic effects in ex vivo model of ischemia-induced rat heart.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of a mobile wireless digital automatic blood pressure monitor for clinical use and mobile health (mHealth). In this study, a manual sphygmomanometer and a digital blood pressure monitor were tested in 100 participants in a repetitive and sequential manner to measure blood pressure. The guidelines for measurement used the Korea Food & Drug Administration protocol, which reflects international standards, such as the American National Standard Institution/Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation SP 10: 1992 and the British Hypertension Society protocol. Measurements were generally consistent across observers according to the measured mean ${\pm}SD$, which ranged in $0.1{\pm}2.6mmHg$ for systolic blood pressure (SBP) and $0.5{\pm}2.2mmHg$ for diastolic blood pressure (DBP). For the device and the observer, the difference in average blood pressure (mean${\pm}$SD) was $2.3{\pm}4.7mmHg$ for SBP and $2.0{\pm}4.2mmHg$ for DBP. The SBP and DBP measured in this study showed accurate measurements that satisfied all criteria, including an average difference that did not exceed 5 mmHg and a standard deviation that did not exceed 8 mmHg. The mobile wireless digital blood pressure monitor has the potential for clinical use and managing one's own health.
By applying super-high pressure (150-250 MPa) to a sealed pressure vessel, it is possible to make oyster shucking machine that automatically opens two-sheet shellfish or oysters. Possibility of developing a shucking machine was confirmed by identifying the working pressure for meat of oysters produced in the southern coast and conducting sensory evaluation of meat oysters. As a result of confirming the shucked oysters under super-high pressure of 150 MPa in the pressure vessel, the number of type A with separated shells and well-separated meat was 22 and type B with both shells and internal meat and shells not separated. For the oysters that were treated at 175 MPa, there were 58 type As with shell separated and meat well separated and 42 type Bs without oyster shells and insides. When looking at the oysters shucked at 200 MPa in the pressure vessel, the number of type A was 86 and type B was 14 accounting for 86% of oysters with good marketability. As a result of shucking oysters by applying 250 MPa, 96% type A oysters and 4% type B oysters were obtained from the total specimen. The total specimen oyster weight used in the conducted experiment was 6 kg, the average oyster shell weight was 3.99 kg and the average oyster meat weight was 1.25 kg. Therefore, the fatness of oyster meat, which measures the added value of oysters, is 20.8%. Sensory evaluation was conducted on thinned oysters by hand and type A oysters shelled by machine with an operating pressure of 200 MPa. The hand-worked oyster sample scored 4.7 points only in salty taste, and scored 5.0 or higher in color, shape, smell, fishy taste, texture and preference.
With hydraulic noise test facility, a variety of tests were performed to investigate the pulsation pressure generation mechanism and its transmission characteristics and to derive the noise control methodology. Many experiments were carried out by changing average pressure, flow rate, pump speed, hose length and MCV spool condition. From the test results, the correlations between pulsation pressure and other design parameters, such as static pressure, flow rate and MCV spool opening area and length of hose, were found out. And also each contribution factors were evaluated from the regression analysis. By changing hose length, the pulsation pressure resonance phenomenon was investigated. In order to find out the pulsation pressure reduction measures pulsation pressure analysis, such as pulsation pressure of hydraulic pump itself and pulsation pressure of hydraulic system, by using AMESim were studied. In addition hydraulic silencer was developed based on the Helmholtz resonator. And its performance was evaluated by installing the silencer at the excavator.
The purpose of this paper is to obtain the basic data for design of pressure cooling system. Static pressure drop, as a function of superficial velocity, was measured for different stacking methods and stacking heights of some fruits and vegetables. At given superficial velocity, sphericity and void fraction had a much greater influence on static pressure drop than average diameter of spherical fruits such as apple, peach, tomato and kiwi fruit. Among cylindrical vegetables such as cucumber, carrot, radish and chinese cabbage, cucumber showed different pattern of static pressure drop because of its bended shape, radish showed less static pressure drop than other vegetables because its large sizes of voids. When cucumber and spinach were stacked vertically and horizontally to air flow, a much greater static pressure drop was shown in vertical than in horizontal type, therefore static pressure drop was affected not only by void fraction but also by void shape. Also, in packed-beds of fruits and vegetables, static pressure drop could be estimated very well by Ramsins equation.
The pressure drop of twelve fuel bundle string in the CANDU-6 fuel channel is equal to the sum of the eleven junction pressure losses, the bundle string entrance and exit pressure losses, the skin friction pressure loss, and other appendage pressure losses, where the junction loss is dependent on the bundle end faces and angular alignments of the junctions. The results of the single junction pressure drop tests in a short rig show that the most probable pressure drop of the eleven junctions was analytically equal to the eleven times of average pressure drop of all the possible single junction pressure drops, and also that the largest and smallest junction pressure drops across the eleven junctions probably occurred only with BA and BB type junctions, respectively, where A and B denote the bundle end sides with an end-plates on which a company monogram is stamped and unstamped, respectively.
Following are the results of the study on the property of falling permeation of stratified soil in the close state under existence of stagnant water on a soil layer. 1. When on the stratified soil a least permeating layer was put on the soil layer the load Pressure was present owing to appearance of saturation close state driving decrease of the pressure in the lower layer, on the other hand when the least permeating layer was placed under the layer the lower least permeating layer pressure was decreased. 2. In the case of least permeating layer the variation of current gradient according to the respective level after treating the layer was enormous and due to usal storage phenomena for the Kl layer which was coarse that was trifle. 3. The permeability of the respective layer of stratified soil in the close state died not always coincide with that of single layer. 4. Generally Zunker's equation of average permeability was valid but actually calculated permeating velocity after treating the layer of stratified soil was seriously differ from the measured value owing to the variation of current gradient, especially when the pressure head at the layer boundany was discontinuous the validity of the equation of average permeability was seemed to be doubtful. 5. The permeating velocity of stratified soil was regulated by the least permeating layer, i.e. it is thought to be rational to estimate the value by calculating the current gradient with its proper permeability, pressure headon the layer and its thickness.

An experimental study was carried out to understand the heat transfer performance of a miniature loop heat pipes using water-based copper nanoparticles suspensions as the working fluid. The suspensions consisted of deionized water and copper nanoparticles with an average diameter of 80 nm. Effects of the cupper mass concentration and the operation pressure on the average evaporation and condensation heat transfer coefficients, the critical heat flux and the total heat resistance of the mLHPs were investigated and discussed. The pressure frequency also depends upon the evaporator temperature which has been maintained from $60^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$. The Investigation shows 60% filling ratio gives the highest inside pressure magnitude of highest number pressure frequency at any of setting of evaporator temperature and 5wt% results the lowest heat flow resistance.
Leakage in water supply system can cause water resources loss in addition to the water quality degradation. In this research, leakage reduction after establishment of a block system in the area with leakage rate of 69.0 % was investigated using EPANET simulation. The average water pressure for the research area was $5.17kgf/cm^2$ which was relatively high, and several sites were deviated from recommended water pressure ranges(i.e., 1.5 ~ $7.1kgf/cm^2$). However, the average water pressure in the area was reduced to 3.81 and $3.49kgf/cm^2$ after the introduction of block system with a water pressure relief valve(PRV) setting of 3.0 and $2.5kgf/cm^2$, respectively. Under the installation of a PRV with regulating pressure of $2.5kgf/cm^2$, the predicted leakage was reduced from $4,420.3m^3/d$ to $3,028.1m^3/d$, which was equivalent to the leakage reduction from 31.0 % to 23.5 %.
