The local coercivity distribution of CoCrPt alloy films prepared by dc magnetron sputtering has been investigated by means of a magneto-optical microscope magnetometer (MOMM) capable of simultaneously measuring the local properties on 400 nm spatial resolutions. Serial samples of CoCrPt alloy films were prepared with the Pt composition of a range from 6 to 28 at. %. We find that the local coercivity distribution crosses over from Gaussian to non-Gaussian distribution in CoCrPt alloy films with increasing Pt composition, with increasing trends in the width of the distribution as well as the average local coercivity. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies reveal that our findings are closely correlated with the dependences of the grain size distribution and its average size on Pt concentration.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the menu of meal boxes delivered to low-income children during summer vacation. Out of 114 questionnaires distributed nationwide concerning lunch menus during summer vacation of 2008, 51 (44.7% response rate) were returned. A total of 170 daily lunch menus consisting of 5 day menus from 34 organizations (29.8% analysis rate) were analyzed after excluding 16 organizations that delivered side dishes only and one organization that provided menus of less than 5 days. The mean numbers of dishes and food items in the menus were five and eight, respectively. Over two-thirds (67.1%) of the lunch box menus included only three food groups: grain, meat and vegetable. Only 2% of the menus included all five food groups, grain, meat, vegetable, fruit, and dairy products. In general, the menus tended to lack fruits and dairy products; the percentages of the menus not including fruits and dairy products reached 89% and 77%, respectively. The average number of dishes, distribution of food group patterns, and average dietary diversity scores of the menus were significantly different according to reimbursement rate. The organizations receiving reimbursement of 3,500 won were more likely to include diverse food groups than those receiving 3,000 won although most of the menus were not proper in terms of food diversity anyway. These results suggest that lunch box menus for low-income children can be improved, in particular, by including more diverse food groups.

This study investigated the microstructure and piezoelectric properties of lead-free 0.74(Bi1/2Na1/2)TiO3-0.26SrTiO3 (BNST26) piezoelectric ceramics sintered using a microwave furnace. For comparison, specimens were also prepared using a conventional furnace sintering (CFS). Average grain sizes of 2.4 ㎛ and 3.2 ㎛ were obtained in the sample sintered at 1,100℃ for 5 min using microwave sintering (MWS) and at 1,175℃ for 2 h using CFS, respectively. To quantify the changes in the microstructures and electrical properties according to the sintering conditions, the polarization hysteresis, bipolar and unipolar strain curves, and temperature dependence of permittivity were evaluated. As a result, it was determined that the Pmax (maximum polarization), Pr (remanent polarization) and Smax (maximum strain) values tend to increase with the average grain size. Based on these results, it is concluded that the MWS method can produce lead-free ceramics with superior performance in a relatively short time compared to the conventional CFS method.

(Ba,Sr,Ca)$TiO_3$ powders, which were prepared by sol-gel method using a solution of Ba-, Sr- and Ca-acetate and Ti iso-propoxide, were mixed with organic vehicle and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on high purity alumina substrates. The structural and dielectirc properties were investigated for various $Dy_2O_3$ doping contents. As a result of thermal analysis, the exothermic peak was observed at around 670^{\circ}C $ due to the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase. All BSCT thick films, sintered at $1420^{\circ}C$ for 2h, showed the typical XRD patterns of perovskite polycrystalline structure and no pyrochlore phase was observed. The average grain size of the specimens decreased with increasing amount of $Dy_2O_3$. The average grain size and thickness of the BSCT specimens doped with 0.1 mol% $Dy_2O_3$ were approximately $1.9{\mu}m$ and $70{\mu}m$, respectively. The relative dielectric constant decreased and dielectric loss increased with increasing amount of $Dy_2O_3$, the values of the BSCT thick films doped with 0.1 mol% $Dy_2O_3$ were 3697 and 0.4% at 1 kHz, respectively. The leakage current densities in all BSCT thick films were less than $10^{-9}A/cm^2$ at the applied electric field range of 0-20 kV/cm.
A chemically stabilized $\beta$-cristobalite, which is stabilized by stuffing cations of $Ca^{2+}$ and $Al^{3+}$, was prepared by a solution-polymerization route employing Pechini resin or PVA solution as a polymeric carrier. The polymeric carrier affected the crystallization temperature, morphology of calicined powder, and particle size distribution. In case of the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution process, a fine $\beta$-cristobalite powder with a narrow particle size distribution (average particle size : 0.3$\mu\textrm{m}$) and a BET specific surface area of 72 $\m^2$/g was prepared by an attrition-milling for 1 h after calcination at 110$0^{\circ}C$ for 1h. Wider particle size distribution and higher specific surface area were observed for the $\beta$-cristobalite powder derived from Pechini resin. The cubie(P1-to-tetraganalb) phase transformation in polynystalline $\beta$-cristobalite was induced at approximately 18$0^{\circ}C$. Like other materials showing transformation toughening, a critical size effect controlled the $\beta$-to-$\alpha$ transformation. Densifed cristobalite sample had some cracks in its internal texture after annealing. The cracks, occurred spontaneoulsy on cooling, were observed in the sample with an average grain sizes of 4.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$ or above. In case of the sintered cristobalite having a composition of CaO.$2Al_2O_3$.40SiO$_2$, small amount of amorphous phase and slow grain growth during annealing were observed. Shear stress-induced transformation was also observed in ground specimen. Cristobalite having a composition of CaO.2Al2O3.80SiO2 showed a more sensitive response to shear stress than the CaO.$2Al_2O_3$.40SiO$_2$ type cristobalite. Shear-induced transformation resulted in an increase of volume about 13% in $\alpha$-cristobalite phase on annealing for above 10 h in the case of the former composition.
This paper focuses on the electrical properties and stability against DC accelerated aging stress of ZnO-V2O5-MnO2-Nb2O5-Bi2O3-Co3O4-Dy2O3 (ZVMNBCD) varistor ceramics sintered at 850 - 925 ℃. With the increase of sintering temperature, the average grain size increases from 4.4 to 11.8 mm, and the density of the sintered pellets decreases from 5.53 to 5.40 g/㎤ due to the volatility of V2O5, which has a low melting point. The breakdown field abruptly decreases from 8016 to 1,715 V/cm with the increase of the sintering temperature. The maximum non-ohmic coefficient (59) is obtained when the sample is sintered at 875 ℃. The samples sintered at below 900 ℃ exhibit a relatively low leakage current, less than 60 mA/㎠. The apparent dielectric constant increases due to the increase of the average grain size with the increase of the sintering temperature. The change tendency of dissipation factor at 1 kHz according to the sintering temperature coincides with the tendency of the leakage current. In terms of stability, the samples sintered at 900 ℃ exhibit both high non-ohmic coefficient (45) and excellent stability, 0.8% in 𝚫EB/EB and -0.7 % in 𝚫α/α after application of DC accelerated aging stress (0.85 EB/85 ℃/24 h).
In 1994, an abnormal rice growth was observed in a 0.5-ha scale farmer's field located at Chogye-Myeon, Hapcheon-Gun, Gyeongnam Province where rice cv. Hwayeongbyeo was seeded directly in dry paddy field conditions. The major symptoms were less stands per acreage, short leaf length, and hypertrophy of root tip portion. The disorder was identified as rice seeding bight caused by Rhizopus sp. The average plant stand per m2 in the infested field was 108, while it was 375 in the normal field, and leaf growth was retarded to less than one-third of healthy plant. The average leaf lengths of infected and healthy seedlings were 12.8cm and 38.9cm, respectively. When the infected seedlings were transplanted to pots, flooded-soil conditions developed no new root growth but upland conditions allowed 11.2 new roots emerging. The length of newly emerged root in infested soil was 5.3cm in upland and 7.1cm in intermediate flooding conditions. However, it was 10.9cm in non-infested soil with intermediate flooding conditions. When the plants were matured, the stem length of infected plants was reduced slightly as compared to normal plants, whereas the length of panicle was not significantly different between infected and healthy plants. The number of panicle per plant, however, greatly different with variation of infection degree. Grain quality such as the number of complete and incomplete grains per panicle, the complete grain weight per panicle, and the weight of 1000 grains was not significantly different.
Interior finishing materials using noncombustible were regulated by the building codes to prevent the spread of fire and protect occupants. The average deed of stopping time of experimental mouse exposing combustion gas were measured by KS F 2271 gas toxicity test. At that time, The average deed of stopping time under 9 minutes were judged a inconsistence. This experiment method has limit to find out a cause of toxicity effect factor. In this study, particle size analysis were performed for investigate a major factor.
The effects of Nb and Cu additives as will as substitutional Co into $Nd_{4}Fe_{85.5}B_{10.5}$ melt-spun alloy were studied aiming for finding a $\alpha$-Fe based Nd-Fe-B composite alloys with high energy product. The addition of Nb and Cu to $Nd_{4}Fe_{85.5}B_{10.5}$ decreased the average grain size and increased the coercivity up to 207kA/m(2.6kOe), Further-more, the substitution of Co for Fe in $Nd_{4}Fe_{82}B_{10}Nb_{3}Cu_{1}$ alloy resulted in the decrease of the average grain size (<20nm) and improved the hard magnetic properties. The remanence, coercivity and energy product of optimally annealed $Nd_{4}Fe_{74}Co_{8}B_{10}Nb_{3}Cu_{1}$ alloy were 1.345, 219kA/m(2.75kOe) and $95.5kJ/m^{3}$(12MGOe), respectively.
