  • Reliability and safety of steer-by-wire concepts can be achieved by redundant designs. This paper discusses the design of a fault tolerant concept for a force feedback actuator with a standard three-phase PMSM. In contrast to usual drives, the phases of the machine are separated electrically. This design allows driving the machine with two instead of three phases in case of a fault. A superimposed torque controller adjusts the influence of fault currents and torque harmonics in two-phase operation and guarantees smooth torque at the steering wheel

  • Recently, the occurrences of electrical fire have been suppressed by an earth leakage breaker(ELB), a no fuse breaker(NFB) and a fuse in case of an earth leakage, a short circuit and an over current. But it is impossible for the ELB to break the circuit in the case of the failure of pressure contacts on connecting points and the momentary short circuit. Therefore, it is require to study the constructive problem of the ELB. In this paper, we have developed the auxiliary control device, electrical fire prevention control device(EFPCD), of the ELB. And we have tested the operation characteristics of the ELB according to the load(R, L) As a result of this experiment, we could prevent the electrical fire due to the spark and the overheat occurring in the failure of pressure contacts on connecting points and the momentary short circuit.

  • This paper proposes inserted core type of slotless Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) to improve its low thrust density. However, by inserting the core between windings of each phase, detent force is generated and it acts as thrust ripple. Furthermore, linear motors generate end effect making thrust ripple. So, this paper applies the neural network to minimize detent force and to maximize thrust. Also, sub-poles is placed at the end parts of the mover to compensate end effect. To confirm of calculation method's validity, the calculated results are compared with experimental results.

  • SRM drives generate large vibration and acoustic noise because it is commutated individually by step pulse m.m.f on each phase pole. The frequency or motor speed of peak vibrations and acoustic noises is coincided with the natural resonant frequency of the magnetic structure and frame material. And this radial vibration force is induced on the phase commutation region. This paper suggest the new electromagnetic structure of SRM with auxiliary commutation winding excited d.c e.m.f.. This phase- commutating winding is coupled magnetically between one phase winding and the vibrating force is falled down. As a result, SRM with d.c exciting commutation winding is very useful to reduce vibration and acoustic noise of SRM drive.

  • $\textbullet$ In this paper, a new method of estimating the rotor speed and flux is proposed. $\textbullet$ The stator currents and voltages are measurable and all the system parameters are known. $\textbullet$ There are a number of common terms in the error dynamics. $\textbullet$ This is utilized to find a simpler error model involving some auxiliary variables. $\textbullet$ Using this error model, the state estimation problem is converted into a parameter estimation prob. $\textbullet$ Some stability properties are given on the basis of Lyapunov analysis. $\textbullet$ The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through simulations and experiments.

  • Up to now, High speed train was widely used in France, Germany and Japan. In korea, High speed train was introduced from France train model and operation was made in year 2004. With this high speed operation Know-How, HSR-350 train was developed with our own technology. And now KTX-II which was made by our own technology are running in commercial line. High speed rolling stock system acceleration technology is train propulsion system and this is composed with traction motor, Power transfer system and auxiliary power system. This paper, introduced the performance of the traction propulsion system and other equipment that has been installed at the KTX-II will be secured.

  • Bidirectional DC-DC converters allow transfer of power between two dc sources, in either direction. Due to their ability to reverse the direction of flow of power, Dey are being increasingly used in many applications such as battery charge/dischargers, do uninterruptible power supplies, electrical vehicle motor drives, aerospace power systems, telecom power supplies, etc. This Paper Proposes a new bidirectional Sepic/Zeta converter. It has low switching loss and low conduction loss due to auxiliary communicated circuit and synchronous rectifier operation, respectively Because of positive and buck/boost-like DC voltage transfer function(M=D/1-D), the proposed converter is very desirable for use in distributed power system. The proposed converter also has both transformer-less version and transformer one.

  • 본 논문에서는 보극을 이용한 영구자석형 선형동기전동기 (PMLSM)의 디텐트력 저감에 관한 새로운 기술을 제안하고자 한다. 디텐트력은 입력전류 없이 영구자석과 철심 코어의 상호 작용으로 발생되며 2개의 성분 즉 슬롯효과와 단부효과로 나눌 수 있다. 슬롯효과와 단부효과를 줄이기 위하여 보극의 위치와 반폐슬롯 길이 변화에 따른 디텐트력 특성을 2차원 유한요소법(FEM)을 이용하여 해석한다. 그리하여 수치해석과 실험결과를 이용하여 보극 설치가 디텐트력을 줄이기 위한 효과적인 방법임을 입증하고자 한다.

  • This paper presents the analysis of the analysis of thrust characteristics of linear induction motors(LIMs) according to secondary reaction plate. LIMs are well known as high speed transport systems, which can obtain thrust directly without gears and links, or auxiliary mechanisms. A simple structure, easy maintenance, and less environmental pollution are advantages of LIMs. In transport systems using LIMs, the secondary reaction plate is an important design factor, because it has considerable impact on the cost of the railway as well as the performance of the LIMs.

  • A single phase induction motor (SPIM) rated in fractional horsepower is widely used in home and industrial equipment: washing machines, fans, refrigerators, etc. In this paper, authors present the experimental results of the SPIM under controlling of currents of main and auxiliary windings by using a one-chip micro stator(OMS). This new starting method is developed to replace the conventional starting device consisted with a mechanical switch and a capacitor. In mentioned method, the soft-starting of SPIM is simply implemented and higher efficiency is obtained in comparison with conventional condenser type SPIM.
