횡류식 제·배연 시스템의 개선 및 적용성 분석을 위한 모형실험 연구 (Scaled model tests for improvement and applicability of the transverse smoke control system on tunnels)

  • 현재 도로터널과 철도터널에서는 화재시 발생한 유독가스 및 연기를 배출하기 위하여 제·배연시스템을 구축하고 있다. 다양한 제·배연 시스템 중 횡류식 제·배연시스템은 풍도의 중간을 구획하여 급기 또는 배기를 수행함에 따라 터널 본선 전단면에 급기 또는 배기가 되는 것이 아니라 터널 본선의 절반 부분만 급기 또는 배기가 수행되는 단점을 지니고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 횡류식 제·배연시스템의 한계점을 개선한 조닝방식에 대하여 수치해석과 모형시험을 통해 제·배연 효과를 분석하였다. 모형시험의 결과 제·배연이 이루어지지 않은 상태를 기준으로 횡류식 제·배연시스템은 25.6%의 배연율을 나타내었고, 조닝을 통한 제·배연시스템은 40.8%의 배연율을 나타내었다. 또한 수치해석결과 횡류식 제·배연시스템은 본선터널에서 확산되는 화재연기를 차단하지 못하고 지속적으로 확산 되는 양상을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 조닝방법을 통한 제·배연시스템은 에어커튼 효과 및 배연 효과로 인하여 화재연기가 일정구간 내에 제연 되는 것으로 나타났다.

음파를 이용한 연료 입자 운동성 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study of Improving Fuel Droplet Movement with Sonic Wave Radiation)

  • 자동차 배기가스에 포함된 질소산화물은 심각한 대기 오염을 일으키는 주요한 요인 중의 하나이다. 질소산화물은 연소가 고온 조건에서 진행되는 경우에 생성되므로 일반적으로 배기가스 재순환 방법을 사용하여 연소 온도를 낮추어 저감시킨다. 배기가스 재순환 비율이 높아질수록 질소산화물의 양은 감소하나 연소가 불안정하게 되어 일산화탄소와 연소실 내의 연료가 연소 되지 않고 나오는 미연탄화수소의 양이 증가하여 오히려 오염물질을 증가시킨다. 본 논문에서는 연소 안정성 향상을 위해 연료 입자에 음파를 조사하여 연료 입자의 움직임을 증가시는 방안 및 배기가스재순환 비율의 증가에 따른 엔진 성능 향상에 대하여 연구하였다. 이에 대한 기본 연구로, 유동해석 소프트웨어를 사용하여 여러 주파수의 음파를 연료 입자에 조사하여 연료 입자의 속도 변화에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 해석 결과, 연료 입자의 크기가 크면 저주파의 음파에 의해, 연료 입자의 크기가 작으면 고주파의 음파에 의해 영향을 많이 받음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 연소 안정성 향상이 엔진 성능에 미치는 영향에 대해 엔진 해석 모델을 사용하여 연구하였다. 해석 결과, 배기가스 재순환 비율을 15% 증가시킨 경우, 질소산화물의 농도가 45% 저감되고, 열효율이 10% 향상됨을 확인하였다.

벤튜리관 형상에 따른 배기가스 재순환 유동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flow Characteristics of the Flue Gas Recirculation with the Change of Venturi Tube Shape)

  • 자동차 엔진이나 소각로 등의 연소기기에서 질소산화물을 저감하기 위한 여러 가지 방법 중에 배기가스 재순환 방법이 널리 쓰이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 고온의 배기가스를 재순환 유입하기 위해 벤튜리 튜브를 사용할 경우에 상온의 공기 노즐 출구 위치를 변화하여 고온의 배기가스를 재순환 유입하는 최적 위치를 도출하기 위해 전산 열유체해석을 통해 살펴보았다. 또한 상온의 공기 노즐 출구에 원뿔을 설치한 경우에 대한 배기가스 재순환 유입량 특성을 고찰하였다. 공기 노즐 출구 위치를 배기가스 재순환 유입 출구의 시작위치(z=0)에서 끝 위치(z=0.6m)로 변화하였을 때 유선과 온도 분포 변화를 관찰하였으며 배기가스 재순환 유입량비와 혼합가스 출구의 평균온도로 정량적으로 비교하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 상온의 공기 노즐 출구 위치는 z=0.15m(1/4L)에서 재순환 유입량과 출구에서의 평균온도가 가장 최대가 되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 공기 노즐 출구에 원뿔을 설치하면 공기 노즐 출구의 속도가 증가하여 배기가스 재순환 유입량이 약 2배 증가하고 혼합가스 출구 온도도 $116^{\circ}C$ 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • This research was conducted as a fundamental study to apply tailored blank welding technique into automotive production process. Specially we tried to apply the TWB technique to exhaust system. The materials used in this work were ferritic 439 stainless steel sheet with a thickness of 1.2mm and 0.8mm. Welding tests were conducted for BOP test and dissimilar thickness (0.8 to 1.2t) cases. Major process parameters were position of focus, travel speed, shielding gas and joint (gap) condition. As a result, there are nothing significant welding characteristic compare with TWB of carbon steel. Stainless steel shows the good weldability and mechanical properties (tensile, hardness and forming strength) also shows high level. Just problem is gap condition. However, also in this case, it shows not only good forming strength but also base metal fracture after tensile test. And to conclude, it is good opportunity to make lightweight design muffler using TB welding technique.

  • Rising oil price and environmental problems are causing automotive industry to increase fuel efficiency. Improved fuel efficiency in gasoline engine was made possible by development of DISI gasoline engine. Since fuel is injected inside cylinder directly, in-cylinder temperature can be reduced than multi-port injection engine and this leads to increased compression ratio. However, engine performance is largely dependent on mixture formation process due to in-cylinder fuel injection. Especially for spray guided and air guided DISI gasoline engine, injection direction is important factor to mixture preparation. It is because interaction between intake flow and spray affect fuel-air mixture. Hence, in this study, mixture formation characteristics were analyzed by varying injection direction using KIVA 3V release2 code. Residual gas was considered for assuming combustion. Therefore, initial condition for in-cylinder temperature was set equal to the end state of exhaust stroke of combustion cycle. Since angle between intake air flow direction and spray direction affects fluid flow and evaporation field, mixture distribution was affected by fuel injection direction dominantly.

LNT 촉매 후단의 NH3 생성 특성 (NH3 Generation Characteristics of a LNT Catalyst Downstream)

  • As diesel engines have high power and good fuel economy on top of less $CO_2$ emissions, their market shares are increasing not only in commercial vehicles but also in passenger cars. LNT, urea-SCR and combination of them have been developed for after-treatment of the exhaust gas to reduce NOx on diesel vehicles. The aim of this study is to investigate the $NH_3$ generation characteristics of LNT catalyst downstream. It was found from the experiments of the LNT catalyst that $H_2$ was useful as a reductant in SCR catalyst because it can enhance the de-NOx performance and improve $NH_3$ selectivity. The $NH_3$ generation of the LNT, when hydrothermally aged at $900^{\circ}C$ for 18 hr, increased to about 90ppm at $300^{\circ}C$ due to Pt sintering and Ba agglomeration. LNT catalyst was most sulfur poisoning at $500^{\circ}C$. The $NH_3$ slip increased due to the reduction of residence time according to SV increase.

저탄소강의 알루미늄코팅조건에 따른 Nd:YAG 레이저 용접특성 (Welding Characteristics of Low Carbon Steel with Al Coating Condition by Nd:YAG Laser)

  • Aluminized steel sheet that Al coated on low carbon steel has a excellent heat resistance, thermal reflection and corrosion resistance. It has applied to fuel tank, automotive exhaust systems, etc. Laser weldability of the aluminized steel for the full penetration welding will be described in this paper. We focused on the effect of Al coating conditions on weld strength. For these objectives, aluminized steel sheets that has various thickness and coating weight were prepared for laser welding. And then, tensile-shear and hardness test were carried out. At that same time, Al content mixed in weld after laser welding was evaluated and investigated a correlation between the mixed Al and mechanical properties. Besides, as removing partially coating layer, weldability has been investigated according to position of coating layer. As a result of this study, as increasing Al content in weld, tensile-shear strength was decreased. Also it was identified that Al of coating layer caused grain growth.

ENO기법을 이용한 연소 엔진 흡기계 소음의 방사에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Radiation of Intake Noise from Internal Combustion Engine by Using Essentially Non-Oscillatory Schemes)

  • Traditionally, intake noise from internal combustion engine has not recevied much attention compared to exhaust noise. But nowadays, intake noise is a major contributing factor to automotive passenger compartment noise levels. The main objective of this paper is to identify the mechanism of generation, propagation and radiation of the intake noise. With a simplest geometric model, one of the main noise sources for the intake stroke is found to be the pressure surge, which is generated after intake valve closing. The pressure surge, which has the nonlinear acoustic behavior, propagates and radiates with relatively large amplitude. In this paper, unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equations are employed for the intake stroke of axisymmetric model having a single moving cylinder and a single moving intake valve. To simulate the periodic motion of the piston and the valve, unsteady deforming mesh algorithm is employed and Thompson's non-reflecting boundary condition is applied to the radiation field. In order to resolve the small amplitude waves at the radiation field, essentially non-oscillatory(ENO) schemes with an artificial compression method (ACM) are used.

  • The stringent emission norms cannot be met through engine design and exhaust after treatment alone. Use of oxygenated fuel like biodiesel as a alternative to diesel may be the best way to reduce emissions today. In this study, Diesel fuel and pure biodiesel (mahua oil) were tested on a single cylinder naturally-aspirated direct-injection diesel engine. The study aims to investigate the effects of the mahua oil biodiesel on existing diesel engine emissions. The effect of test fuels on engine emissions like CO, HC, $CO_2$, NOx and smoke emissions was investigated with respect to the load on engine. Smoke opacity of Diesel engine was lower in case of biodiesel of mahua oil as compare to mineral diesel. NOx emissions was little higher during the whole range of loading, which is a typical characteristic of biodiesel. However the increments are within in the narrow range. $CO_2$ emissions was bit higher which is the indication of better combustion due to presence of rich oxygen in the mixture, it results in the low values of CO and HC during the whole range of experiments. Thus considering environmental norms most of the engine emissions, it can be concluded and biodiesel derived from mahua oil could be used in a conventional diesel engine without any modification.

우리나라의 환경문제 우선순위 도출 - 환경전문가를 중심으로 - (The Priority of Environmental Problems in Korea)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the priority of environmental problems in Korea by investigating the environmental professionals' perception. The delphi technique was applied to identify their risk perception towards some specific items related with pollution. A standardized questionnaire on environmental problems and their priorities was used to 74 subjects. In the questionnaire, the environmental problems were divided into the general ones,9 items, and the specific ones,30 items. Also, the perception was associated with two points of view which were the risk on general human health or ecosystem, and on the present situation in Korea. The priority of risk from general environmental problems on human health or ecosystem was analyzed in the order of 'water pollution', 'air pollution', 'soil contamination', 'waste', 'toxic chemical pollutants', 'food contamination', 'ocean contamination', 'odor pollution', and 'noise pollution'. The priority of risk on the present situation in Korea was analyzed in the order of 'water pollution','air pollution','waste','toxic chemical pollutants','food contamination','soil contamination','ocean contamination','odor pollution', and 'noise pollution'. And these priorities were significantly related with the characteristics of respondents such as sex, age, and major concerned area. However, for the first five priorities of risk from the specific environmental problems on human health or ecosystem, the environmental professionals agreed with 'automotive vehicle exhaust', 'domestic and industrial source pollutants to surface water', '$CO_2$nd g1oba1 warming effect','toxic air pollutant' and 'industrial source air pollution'. The priorities of risk on the present situation in Korea were similar to these results.
