In this study, we proposed a standard model for the design, construction and demonstration of the technology development and substantiation of small hydrogen powered vessel in order to respond to the alternative fuel-using vessel market that requires the use of low-carbon/carbon-free fuel as a greenhouse gas reduction measure. The hydrogen fuel cell-based electric propulsion system developed through this is optimized through performance and durability tests on the land-based test site (LBTS), and the electric propulsion system applied to this result is mounted on a small hydrogen propulsion vessel and operated. Simultaneously, through the digital twin technology between the LBTS and the hydrogen-propelled vessel on the sea, the technology that can predict and diagnose the problems that can occur in the electric propulsion system of the vessel is applied to carry out the empirical study of the hydrogen-propelled vessel. In addition, we propose a commercialization model by analyzing the economic feasibility of the demonstration vessel.

In this study, a fuel cell system for future defense unmanned vehicles was designed and validated. A Co/Al2O3-Ni foam catalyst for NaBH4 hydrolysis was characterized using several analytical methods. A NaBH4 hydrogen generation system with the Co/Al2O3-Ni foam catalyst continuously generated hydrogen at elevated reaction temperatures. The fuel cell system with the NaBH4 hydrogen generation system was designed and tested. The performance of the fuel cell system was comparable to that of the fuel cell system using pure hydrogen. Therefore, the fuel cell system with the NaBH4 hydrogen generation system is a suitable power source for future defense unmanned vehicles owing to its easy refueling and simple system.
In the fabrication of curved multi-display glass for automotive use, the surface roughness of the mold is a critical quality factor. However, the difficulty in detecting micro-cutting signals in a micro-machining environment and the absence of a standardized model for predicting micro-cutting forces make it challenging to intuitively infer the correlation between cutting variables and actual surface roughness under machining conditions. Consequently, current practices heavily rely on machining condition optimization through the utilization of cutting models and experimental research for force prediction. To overcome these limitations, this study employs a surface roughness prediction formula instead of a cutting force prediction model and converts the surface roughness prediction formula into experimental data. Additionally, to account for changes in surface roughness during machining runtime, the theory of position variables has been introduced. By leveraging artificial neural network technology, the accuracy of the surface roughness prediction formula model has improved by 98%. Through the application of artificial neural network technology, the surface roughness prediction formula model, with enhanced accuracy, is anticipated to reliably perform the derivation of optimal machining conditions and the prediction of surface roughness in various machining environments at the analytical stage.
This study explores the enhancement of mechanical properties in Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) composites through the incorporation of Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) and Ethylene Glycol Dimethacrylate (EGDMA). Utilizing Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology, we conducted a series of experiments to analyze the impact of varying concentrations of MMA and EGDMA on PMMA. The results indicate that while MMA demonstrates non-linear and variable mechanical strength across different PMMA concentrations, EGDMA consistently improves mechanical strength as PMMA concentration increases. This consistent enhancement by EGDMA suggests a stable and predictable reinforcement effect, which is critical for applications requiring high mechanical strength. Our comparative analysis highlights that EGDMA is a more effective additive than MMA for optimizing the mechanical performance of PMMA composites. Specifically, EGDMA's ability to provide uniform reinforcement across various PMMA concentrations makes it ideal for high-strength applications. These findings are significant for material scientists and engineers focused on the design and development of advanced PMMA-based materials. In conclusion, this research underscores the importance of selecting appropriate additives to enhance the mechanical properties of PMMA composites. The superior performance of EGDMA in reinforcing PMMA suggests its potential for broader applications in fields such as automotive, construction, medical devices, and 3D printing. This study provides valuable insights that can guide future research and development in high-performance composite materials, paving the way for innovative applications and improved material efficiency.
This study proposes a method to predict noise reduction based on noise-reduction measures, using harmonic response analysis, for transformer design. The dynamic elastic coefficients of the components comprising the actual transformer were determined by manufacturing the materials of the transformer components into simple-shaped specimens, followed by a comparison of the modes between the experiments and the analyses. A finite element model of the transformer was implemented, and harmonic response analysis was performed by deriving the exciting force of the transformer. Subsequently, the theoretical sound power level of the transformer was derived from the results of the harmonic response analysis. Finally, noise reduction measures were established, and the noise reduction amounts were compared between the experiments and the analyses, before and after applying the measures. Through the comparison and analyses of the noise reduction measures, it was confirmed that the trends in the experiments and analyses matched.

From the early 1970s, the US government began to recognize that penetration testing could not assure the security quality of products. Results of penetration testing such as identified vulnerabilities and faults can be varied depending on the capabilities of the team. In other words none of penetration team can assure that "vulnerabilities are not found" is not equal to "product does not have any vulnerabilities". So the U.S. government realized that in order to improve the security quality of products, the development process itself should be managed systematically and strictly. Therefore, the US government began to publish various standards related to the development methodology and evaluation procurement system embedding "security-by-design" concept from the 1980s. Security-by-design means reducing product's complexity by considering security from the initial phase of development lifecycle such as the product requirements analysis and design phase to achieve trustworthiness of product ultimately. Since then, the security-by-design concept has been spread to the private sector since 2002 in the name of Secure SDLC by Microsoft and IBM, and is currently being used in various fields such as automotive and advanced weapon systems. However, the problem is that it is not easy to implement in the actual field because the standard or guidelines related to Secure SDLC contain only abstract and declarative contents. Therefore, in this paper, we present the new framework in order to specify the level of Secure SDLC desired by enterprises. Our proposed CIA (functional Correctness, safety Integrity, security Assurance)-level-based security-by-design framework combines the evidence-based security approach with the existing Secure SDLC. Using our methodology, first we can quantitatively show gap of Secure SDLC process level between competitor and the company. Second, it is very useful when you want to build Secure SDLC in the actual field because you can easily derive detailed activities and documents to build the desired level of Secure SDLC.

In this research, thermal design data such as heat transfer coefficient on the wall surface required for ventilation system design which is to prevent the temperature rise in the underground utility tunnel that three sides are adjoined with the ground was investigated in numerical analalysis. The numerical model has been devised including the tunnel lining of the underground utility tunnel in order to take account for the heat transfer in the tunnel walls. The air temperature in the tunnel, wall temperature, and the heating value through the wall based on heating value(117~468 kW/km) of the power cable installed in the tunnel and the wind speed in the tunnel(0.5~4.0 m/s) were calculated by CFD simulation. In addition, the wall heat transfer coefficient was computed from the results analysis, and the limit distance used to keep the air temperature in the tunnel stable was examined through the research. The convective heat transfer coefficient at the wall surface shows unstable pattern at the inlet area. However, it converges to a constant value beyond approximately 100 meter. The tunnel wall heat transfer coefficient is $3.1{\sim}9.16W/m^2^{\circ}C$ depending on the wind speed, and following is the dimensionless number:$Nu=1.081Re^{0.4927}({\mu}/{\mu}_w)^{0.14}$. This study has suggested the prediction model of temperature in the tunnel based on the thermal resistance analysis technique, and it is appraised that deviation can be used in the range of 3% estimation.

Recently, various forms of diverging sections in tunnels have been designed as the demand for underground passageway in urban areas increases. Therefore, the complexity of the ventilation system in tunnels with diverging sections requires a ventilation analysis method different from the conventional method for the straight tunnels. None of the domestic and foreign tunnel ventilation design standards specifies the method for the ventilation network analysis, and the numerical analysis methods have been most widely used. This paper aims at reviewing the ventilation network analytical method applicable as the design standard. The proposed method is based on the characteristic equations rather than the numerical analysis. Thanks to the advantages of easy application, the Hardy-Cross method has been widely applied in the fields of mine ventilation and tunnel ventilation. However, limitations with the cutting errors in the Taylor series expansion and the convergence problem mainly caused by the mesh selection algorithm have been reported. Therefore, this paper examines the applicability of the ventilation analysis method for network-type tunnels with the gradient method that can analyze flow rate and pressure simultaneously without the configuration of mesh. A simple ventilation analysis method for network-type tunnels is proposed.

In this study, the ventilation characteristics and the relationships between the required ventilation flow rate and the ventilation system flow rate was investigated by numerical method for the optimum design of the transverse ventilation and semi-transverse ventilation system in road tunnels. The following results were obtained. In supply exhaust transverse ventilation system, the system supply-exhaust air flow rate is theoretically equal to the difference between the required ventilation flow rate and natural ventilation flow rate. However, it is shown that it increases by about 10% in the analysis results. And, in the case of the longitudinal air flow rate is increased by installed jet fans, ventilation system air flow rate is reduced. However, as the longitudinal air flow rate increases, the concentration of pollutants in the tunnel decreases, so the exhaust effect of pollutants decreases, and the effect of reducing the system air flow rate is decreased. In case of semi-transverse with only air supply, ventilation system air flow rate is equal to required ventilation air flow rate when tunnel inlet velocity is negative, but results is shown it is increased within about 13.3%. Also, it was found that ventilation effect can not be expected even if the jet fans are increased when the tunnel inlet velocity is negative.

The amount of ventilation required in making the tunnel ventilation plan is an important factor for determining the capacity of the ventilation system. The amount of pollutant emission for each type of vehicle (basic emission amount for the design of ventilation volume) for estimating the required ventilation amount is based on the 'Standard for Allowing the Emission for the car manufacturing', proposed by Ministry of Environment. However, in 2013, the Ministry of Environment announced the 'Regulations on the calculation method of total emissions from vehicles' as a regulation for calculating the pollutants emitted from vehicles. In this regulation, there are the 'Emission factors for each type of vehicle'. Therefore, it is necessary to review the application of the Regulation to the estimation of the required ventilation volume for the road tunnel. In this study, the influence of the strengthened emission regulation in 2015 caused by the case of manipulation of emission volume for the diesel vehicle on the calculation of the required ventilation volume in the road tunnel has been checked. In addition, in this study, the required ventilation volume calculated according to the Standard for Allowing the Emission for the car manufacturing revised by Ministry of Environment and "Emission factors for each type of vehicle" and that calculated according to the EURO emission standard were compared for analysis. This study has implications that it provides the basic design data for calculating the reasonable ventilation capacity of the ventilation system based on the ground for calculating the required ventilation volume.
