  • Recently, the life cycle and the lead-time of a product are to be shortened in order to satisfy consumer's demand. It is thus important to reduce the time and cost in manufacturing trial products. Several technique have been developed and successfully commercialized in the market of RPM(Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing). However, most commercial systems currently use resins or waxes as the raw materials. So, the limited mechanical strength for functional testing is regarded as an obstacle towards broader application of rapid prototyping techniques. To overcome these problems, high-speed machining technology is being investigated worldwide for rapid manufacturing and even for direct rapid tooling application. In this paper, some fundamental experiments and analyses are carried out to obtain the filling time, materials, method, and process parameters for HisRP(High-Speed RP) process. HisRP is a new RP process that is combined high-speed machining with automatic filling. In filling process, Bi58-Sn alloy is chosen as filling material because of the properties of low-melting point, low coefficient of thermal expansion and no harm to environment. Also the use of filling wire it if advantage since it needs simple and flexible mechanism. Then the rapid product, for example a skull, is manufactured for aluminum material by HisRP process with an automatic set-up device thor 4-faces machining.

  • As the automation system in manufacturing field works more efficientely, the automation scheme is applied to many areas. In order to reduce the entire manufacturing, cost the design process must be automated. However, design process is so complicated, it is very difficult to construct the design automation system. The axiomatic approach to design provides a general theoretical framework for all design fields, including mechanical design. The key concepts of axiomatic design are : the existence of domains, the characteristic vectors within the domains that can be decomposed into hierarchies through zigzagging between the domains, and the design axioms. Using this approach, the glass bulb design process was analyzed and the design automation software was developed. Through menu display, a user can select or furnish the design input and generate the drawing with ease.

  • In manufacturing, process automation and parameter optimization are required in order to improve productivity. Especially in welding process, productivity and weldablity should be considered to determine the process parameter. In this paper, optimization methodology was proposed to determine the welding conditions using the objective function in terms of productivity and weldablity. In order to conduct this, welding experiments were carried out. Tensile test was performed to evaluate the weldability. Neural network model to estimate tensile strength using the laser power, welding speed, and wire feed rate was developed. Objective function was defined using the normalized tensile strength which represented the weldablilty and welding speed and wire feed rate which represented the productivity. The optimal welding parameters which maximized the objective function were determined.

반열풍식 커피 로스터기의 로스팅 과정 자동화 구현을 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Automation of Semi-Hot-Air Coffee Roasting Process)

  • An experimental study on the automation of the coffee roasting process was conducted. For this study, a temperature sensor, controllers, and motors were added to a manually operated coffee roaster. The temperature, time, and exhausting damper control were selected as the control parameters. The thermocouple measurements were severely influenced by the thermocouple size and location of the roaster. As a result, the standard thermocouple size and location of the roaster were experimentally set to show a similar trend of temperature change by using a previously installed thermometer. A standard roasting process was chosen through repeated roasting experiments and the advice of a roasting expert. The automation of the roasting process was successfully executed using temperature criteria, such as the bean input and first and second crack occurrence, and by controlling the exhausting damper opening time. The control parameters and roaster skills can be used for similar types of roasters for process automation.

  • Injection molding is a process widely used across various industries for molding plastics, and it is the most commonly applied process in root industries utilizing molds. Among the different types of injection molding, insert injection molding, where busbars are used as inserts, is increasingly being applied in the electric vehicle industry. However, currently, the insert injection molding process is manually performed, with workers placing insert components by hand before injection molding. This results in issues related to productivity, safety, and quality. Additionally, there is a growing demand for automation of such production lines due to hazardous working conditions, economic difficulties in the manufacturing industry, and the decline in the labor force caused by an aging population. This study focuses on the application of an automated system for the insert injection molding process used in electric vehicles. The development of an automated system for the transport and insertion of insert components, as well as the inspection and stacking processes after injection, has resulted in over a 25% improvement in productivity and more than a 27% reduction in defect rates.

토치 회전식 자동용접 시스템의 용접공정변수 최적선정 (Optimum-selection in the Welding Process Variable for Torch-rotation Method of Automation Welding-machine System)

  • The purpose of this welding process of the exclusive welding-machine using welding torch-rotation type is to develop a mechanism which can solve the problem of twisting of welding wires and cables. The technique was developed by revising the torch position and smooth controlling of both the normal and reverse rotation. Some of the advantages of using the torch-rotation type apply to the work-rotation technique are the practical uses of increased work space and link work with the factory automation system. Do apply the welding process, I designed and made a special unit so called torch part in order to solve the problems of kinematical. And I made a control panel which can manipulate the progress of the entire process at the work shop. Even if it will be applied to another kind of axle casing's welding work, this process can be utilized if other sizes of the fixed pin and work part is produced and changed. The development of this exclusive welding-machine could reduce the manpower of skilled welding labor and increase productivity and better quality product in comparison to the handmade product.

  • 디지털화(Digitalization)가 우리의 비즈니스 환경에 다양한 변화와 혁신을 일으키고 있다. 제조업에서는 오래전부터 자동화를 위해 로봇을 활용하여 처리속도 및 품질에 혁신을 이루었다. RPA는 이러한 제조현장의 혁신을 사무공간으로 가져온 것이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 사무공간에서 단순 반복적으로 이루어지는 업무에 대해 생산성을 향상시키는 것을 그 목적으로 한다. 이러한 생산성 향상과 관련하여, 비즈니스 자동화(Business Automation)에 대한 개념을 살펴본 후, 비즈니스 문서 작업과 관련하여 자동화의 가능성을 확인하기 위해 5가지 업무영역을 대상으로 애자일 방법론을 활용하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 결론적으로, 품질점검 관련 97.3%, 편집 디자인 관련 31.7%의 생산성 향상이 가능함을 확인하였으며, 실제 업무에 적용하기 위한 방향성에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 향후 연구에서는 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 IPA(Intelligent Process Automation)의 적용방안에 대해 진행하고자 한다.

IT융합기반의 연료필터 제조공정 자동화 (Automation of Fuel Filter Manufacturing Process Via IT Convergence)

  • 본 연구에서는 연료 필터의 생산성 향상을 위하여 IT기반의 갱추리 자동화 장치를 개발한다. 불량 제품의 분석, 수율 개선 및 생산성 향상을 위해 자동화 장치와 연동된 IT 기반의 모니터링 시스템 구축을 구축한다. 3개월간 시료 10,000개 생산시의 불량률 비교 측정한 결과 불량률이 0.65%에서 0.45%로 감소하였다. 또한 공구 모니터링을 통하여 공구 교환 시기의 알림과 로더의 정확한 소재의 수입으로 소재의 불량이 감소하였고, 소재 한 개에 대하여 수입에서 배출까지 공정 시간을 비교한 결과 94.7초에서 78.8초로 감소하여 생산성 증가하였다. 수작업으로 하던 소재의 수입/배출을 자동화로 구축하여 공정시간이 20.2% 감소한다. 또한 작업자 안전과 이송시간 감소는 생산성 향상과 직결된다.

전기밥솥 FCT 검사 자동화 System의 검사 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Inspection Reliability Evaluation of Electric Rice Cooker FCT Inspection Automation System)

  • This study has focused on the reliability evaluation of FCT inspection automation equipment for electric rice. To evaluate the reliability of FCT inspection automation equipment, voice analysis, Gray/R/G/B channel experiment, FND segment experiment, and robot position repeatability were performed. In the voice analysis experiment, the comparison value between the recorded and digital output waves was over 99%, indicating a very high result. It was confirmed that both the gray/R/G/B experiment using vision and the FND segment could confirm the output value of the product through vision. The position repeatability of the robot is also excellent, so it is concluded that the inspection effect through the FCT automation system will be excellent.
