Development of an automated system for water-hydraulic and leakage test of pressure vessels

  • This study developed a fully automated test system for pressure vessels, containing such as oxygen, nitrogen, which is widely used in many industries. The pressure vessel test has three major parts including weight measurement test, water-hydraulic test and leakage test followed by cleaning and drying. The control system for these tests consists of three parts: a PLC, a monitoring system and a database management system. The PLC oversees overall control of test machines, while the monitoring system measures and displays weight, pressure, flow etc. for every situations, and the database management system stores test data. These three modules are designed to communicate with one another at 1 Hz frequency alerting problematic situations to the operator. The system has gone through actual field tests for verification of performances.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a process management system to manage ingot fabrication and improve ingot quality. The ingot is the first manufactured material of wafers. Trace parameters were collected on-line but measurement parameters were measured by sampling inspection. The quality parameters were applied to evaluate the quality. Therefore, preprocessing was necessary to extract useful information from the quality data. First, statistical methods were used for data generation. Then, modeling was performed, using the generated data, to improve the performance of the models. The function of the models is to predict the quality corresponding to control parameters. Secondly, rule extraction was performed to find the relation between the production quality and control conditions. The extracted rules can give important information concerning how to handle the process correctly. The dynamic polynomial neural network (DPNN) and decision tree were applied for data modeling and rule extraction, respectively, from the ingot fabrication data.

  • In network-based control system, measurement and control information is delivered by the network messages. Therefore, the performance of control system is directly affected by the performance of network system. System engineers need to evaluate the performance of network system to maintain the entire system in stable condition. BACnet is an international standard data communication protocol especially designed for building automation and control systems. In this study, experimental performance evaluation methodologies of BACnet MS/TP protocol and their practical evaluation results are presented.

  • Most faults are single-phase-to-ground fault in ungrounded system. The fault currents of single-phase-to-ground are much smaller than detection thresholds of measurement devices, so detecting single-phase-to-ground faults is difficult and important in ungrounded system. This paper proposed to a FI(Fault Indicator) generation algorithm in ungrounded system. The algorithm just using line-to-line voltage and zero-sequence current detects fault line, fault phase, fault section and FI(Fault Indicator) at terminal device, This paper also proposed to application plan for this algorithm. In the case study, the proposed algorithm has been testified in demo system by Matlab/Simulink simulations.

  • 현재 우리나라는 도심지 과밀도로 구조물과 인접하여 대규모, 대심도 굴착시공이 이루어지고 있다. 도심지에서의 인접굴착공사는 흙막이 구조물 및 지하구조물의 안전성 확보가 매우 중요하다. 이에 자동화계측 시스템을 도입하여 시설물에 대한 안전성을 관리하고 있다. 그러나 자동화계측 시스템 결과의 활용도는 매우 낮은 실정이다. 종래 평가기법은 측정된 데이터의 최댓값에만 의존하여, 이상 거동을 과대 평가할 수 있는 기법이다. 본 연구에서는 자동화계측 결과에 대한 분석기법을 개선하고자 한다. 시설물의 이상거동을 파악하기 위해 자동화계측 데이터 시계열 분석기법을 제시하였다. 또한 방대한 양의 데이터를 확률통계 분석기법을 적용하여 신뢰성 높은 결과를 도출하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 시설물의 방대한 양의 데이터를 처리할 수 있는 분석기법 및 평가기법을 개선하였다.

  • Simple equivalent circuit model is developed for wireless energy transfer system via coupled magnetic resonances and practical design method is also provided. Node equations for the resonance system are built with the method expanding transformer's equations and the optimum distances of coils in the system is derived analytically for optimum coupling coefficients for high transfer efficiency. Moreover, to calculate the frequency characteristics for a lossy system the equivalent model is established at an electric design automation tool. The model parameters of the actual system are extracted and the results of modeling are compared with the measurement. Through the developed model, we can understand the principles that the system shows higher efficiency than conventional magnetic coupling systems and impedance matching is important to achieve high efficiency.

  • 재료의 전자파차폐효과는 일정한 송신전력에 대해 측정치구 내에 차폐재료가 놓여 있을 때와 없을 때에 수신 되는 수신전력의 차를 측정하므로써 결정된다. 구현된 전자파차폐효과 측정시스댐은 다양한 측정치구를 이용하고, 트랙킹신호원, 스펙트럼분석기, 스텝감쇠기, 고주파스위치, 신호증폭기 동을 사용하였으며, 퍼스날컴퓨터에 의해 측정이 자동으로 이루어지도록 설계되었다. 특히 고주파스위치와 쌍방향성결합기를 이용하여 한대의 스펙트럼분석기를 사용하여 입사전력, 반사전력, 투과전력을 측정할 수 있어 재료의 전자파차폐효과 측정은 물론, 차폐 특성에 관한 분석도 가능하여 재료의 설계에도 활용될 수 있다. 구현된 측정시스댐은 10 MHz~1 G GHz의 주파수대역에서 120 dB 이상의 동작영역을 가지며, 각종의 복합재료의 전자파차폐효과를 효과적으로 측정할 수 있다.

A New Robotic 3D Inspection System of Automotive Screw Hole

  • This paper presents a new non-contact 3D robotic inspection system to measure the precise positions of screw and punch holes on a car body frame. The newly developed sensor consists of a CCD camera, two laser line generators and LED light. This lightweight sensor can be mounted on an industrial robot hand. An inspection algorithm and system that work with this sensor is presented. In performance evaluation tests, the measurement accuracy of this inspection system was about 200 ${\mu}m$, which is a sufficient accuracy in the automotive industry.

  • Research about tool condition monitoring has been done until now for product automation and unmaned system. But it is hard to apply it to the industrial field due to its cost and reliability. This paper presents the new method of tool wear measurement using Marpos gauge. This is a kind of touch sensor, so its cost is lower than vision system. And it is not affected by dust and illumination, which are important in vision system. This proposed method use tool clearance angle to measure flank wear. Experimental results compared with vision system shows that this method is available for tool condition monitoring system.

  • An improved, accurate and reliable high-voltage measuring system utilizing a bushing-type capacitor is proposed in this study. This system measures voltages and phase angles of three-phase 22.9 kV power distribution lines and provides enough current to charge a battery for a motor-driven load switch and to operate the measuring and communication circuits for the distribution automation. For reliability, epoxy resin was used as the dielectric material of the bushing-type capacitor since the dielectric strength of epoxy resin is very stable over the wide range of temperature. Capacitances were investigated and found to be stable over the wide range of temperature and applied voltage, and the results indicate that the proposed measurement system is very reliable.
