  • Precast concrete apartments were main stream of domestic industrialized housing around 90's, and Steel Houses applying Steel Stud technique with light weighted steel have been dominant portion since 1995. On the other hand, various building techniques including Steel Stud method and highly prefabricated and industrialized Unit method are prevailing in developed countries like Japan. Steel stud and unit box have their own merits and demerits, but the more crucial aspect is that the constant design standard should be applied in each design procedure. It entails the necessity of industrial housing development on the open system basis. In this study, the design standard for unit house will be established coping with the established preparing standard for design specifications defined by architectural law and promotion law of housing construction. That is for design standard of industrialized private housing on the open system basis. This study attempts to propose the design automation, with the method of unit construction of which the rate of pre-fabrication is the biggest, that can cope with the demand of user on the basis of open-system. Ticky-tacky is the biggest technical problem in suppling industrialization housing. Therefore, we will suggest a basic plan for design automation of unit modular housing which can raise the productivity of industrialization housing by applying open system, utilized by DB of component and unit, and solve the problem concerned about ticky-tacky.

Online Estimation of Rotational Inertia of an Excavator Based on Recursive Least Squares with Multiple Forgetting

  • This study presents an online estimation of an excavator's rotational inertia by using recursive least square with forgetting. It is difficult to measure rotational inertia in real systems. Against this background, online estimation of rotational inertia is essential for improving safety and automation of construction equipment such as excavators because changes in inertial parameter impact dynamic characteristics. Regarding an excavator, rotational inertia for swing motion may change significantly according to working posture and digging conditions. Hence, rotational inertia estimation by predicting swing motion is critical for enhancing working safety and automation. Swing velocity and damping coefficient were used for rotational inertia estimation in this study. Updating rules are proposed for enhancing convergence performance by using the damping coefficient and forgetting factors. The proposed estimation algorithm uses three forgetting factors to estimate time-varying rotational inertia, damping coefficient, and torque with different variation rates. Rotational inertia in a typical working scenario was considered for reasonable performance evaluation. Three simulations were conducted by considering several digging conditions. Presented estimation results reveal the proposed estimation scheme is effective for estimating varying rotational inertia of the excavator.

  • Construction of reinforced concrete structures required massive amounts of concrete and steel rebar. The current procedure to estimate the quantity of rebar requires tedious and time-consuming manual labor. Consequently, this circumstance made the engineers vulnerable to error and mistake, which led to the rebar waste. No system that is capable of automatically calculating rebar length has yet been developed Thus, this study proposes a preliminary investigation of automatic rebar length estimation of beam element by using BIM-based shape codes drawn in Revit. Beam is chosen due to its complexity in the rebar arrangement. In addition, the development of this study could assist engineers on the construction site and effectively contribute to the minimization of rebar waste in the future.

압전센서를 이용한 플라이애시 치환 시멘트 페이스트의 응결 시점 평가 (Evaluation of Setting Time in Cement Paste with Fly Ash Replacement Using Piezoelectric Sensors)

  • 본 연구에서는 전기역학적 임피던스(electro-mechanical impedance, EMI) 센싱기법을 통해 플라이애시를 치환한 시멘트 페이스트의 응결시점을 평가하였다. 시멘트 중량대비 10 %, 20 %, 30 %를 플라이애시로 치환하여 물-바인더비 40 %의 시멘트 페이스트를 제조하였다. 제조된 시멘트 페이스트에 압전 센서를 매립하여 압전 센서의 EMI 신호변화를 연속적으로 모니터링하였다. EMI 센싱기법의 유효성을 검증하기 위해 비카트침 시험과 간이단열 온도시험을 동시에 수행하였다. 실험결과, 시멘트 페이스트의 응결구간에서 압전센서의 EMI 공진피크와 공진주파수에서 주목할 만한 변화가 나타났다. EMI 센싱기법에서 측정된 응결시간은 비카트침 시험과 간이단열 온도시험에서 측정된 응결시간과 상관관계가 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Progress measurement is one of key tasks for cost and schedule management in construction management. However, there has been shortage of effort to implement for automated progress measurement. This paper proposes to use a face recognition (FR) technology for automated progress measurement and management in construction sites. The FR technology can acquire detailed progress data that includes the in and out information of labors by location. The expected effectiveness of the proposed system is to provide accurate labor information for progress measurement by utilizing automated data acquisition technology (DAT) with high-speed reading face. In addition, it could be applied to real-time safety and quality management by using the camera images.

  • Even though the Al. form system, which was developed to replace the Euro-form, has been used as the slab lower formwork for almost all concrete structures based on the light weight and high conversion rate, the low-noise Drop method has been developed and used in order to overcome the limitations of the Al. Form system such as noise pollution and safety accidents caused by free fall during the demolding. However, as the low-noise drop method is still insufficient, Safety Full Drop Al. Form method is expected to be in the spotlight in the construction market based on its excellent advantages compared to the developed methods. In addition, we plan to conduct research to further contribute to securing the quality of the overall structure through continuous improvement and supplementation by introducing an automation system to the very construction method.

  • In the process of developing an industrial robot, various simulations should be conducted to evaluate the driving, movement, and performance of the robot. Space and time constraints exist to manufacture existing robots and implement various simulations, and efficiency is reduced due to high costs. To solve this problem, many simulations can be conducted by implementing the same movement and working environment as the real environment in virtual reality using digital twin technology. This study proposes a process for establishing a digital twin model of automated layout robots. Using the digital twin model, it is expected that it will not only evaluate the hardware performance of the robot in the future, but also verify the robot's algorithms such as motion planning and work process, identify and solve potential problems in advance, and prevent problems caused by software.

  • Existing improvement measures for resource management are merely concentrating on the document automation only. In addition, such improvements rarely benefit metal millwork management. Following the trend of constructing high rise and multi-complex buildings, the importance of resource management from the aspect of construction project management is being emphasized. Metal work resources are critical most of construction projects, it became a target for special management. Therefore, the study has determined work process of metal work resource management, for the metal millwork is one of the most important construction materials most of construction projects, and proposed a web based module for improving the management task.

세관의 통관절차 간소화 조치에 따른 수입화물의 불법반출을 예방하기 위한 e-D/O 활용지원 방안 (A Study on the Simplification of Customs Procedures and the Protection Measures for the Importer's Interests through the Utilization of e-D/O)

  • The purpose of this study is to review and analyze the protection measures for the importer's interests through the utilization of electronic delivery order(e-D/O) with the implementation of trade facilitation measures such as the simplification of customs procedures by the Korea Customs Service. The Korea Customs Service has been introducing several custom facilitation measures through the use of EDI system in the export and import processes. Korea has also already achieved a comparable level of sophistication in trade automation and custom simplification field. However, the full benefits of the trade automation and custom simplification measures have not yet achieved through the frequent illegal delivery of the imported goods in the bonded areas. Therefore, it is argued in this study that the introduction and the full utilization of e-D/O would help to reap the trade automation and custom simplification measures in Korea. In conclusion, it is emphasized that it would be very crucial for the Korean government to introduce the trusted repository for distribution of the electronic trade-related documents and the construction of the one stop single window platform for the trade and customs facilitation.

  • Pusher-Loaded Scrapers are important construction equipment for large earthmoving operations. Production rates of a Pusher-Loaded Scraper vary greatly in accordance with the temperature or elevation, the equipment performance, haul speed, haul-road conditions, the method of loading, and Number of scrapers per one pusher. Determining of most economical scrapers fleet regarding the size of equipment, model name, and number of scrapers demands time-consuming calculation because it needs to reference of varied performance charts or tables and repeat complicated calculation. In this study, decision-making support system for the Optimal Pusher-loaded Scrapers Fleet is suggested for the purpose of calculating easily and handling effectively variables which are changed depend of the work conditions. The prototype of this program is developed using MATLAB. And the Database of Pusher-loaded Scraper embodies Performance chart & Retarder chart, soil properties, and calculation-support table.
