  • On AC railway systems, the neutral sections are installed in front of substations and sectioning posts in order to avoid crash between power that have differing phases. In case railway vehicles pass through these neutral sections, it is necessary for them to switch to coasting driving by notch-off. This may reduce speed of the vehicles, resulting lowered train operation efficiency. The usage of automatic power switching systems makes it possible to pass neutral sections at notch-on, enhancing operation efficiency so that it is appropriate for high-speed railway applications. This paper introduces a simulator that assesses efficiency of automatic power switching systems in neutral sections. The is composed of a power supply system, electric railway vehicles, thyristor switches, and traction motors.

A Study for Automatic Temperature Control of the Heating-Cooling System with Heat Pump (히트펌프 냉·난방 시스템의 온도 자동제어에 관한 연구)

  • The experiment has been investigated the room temperature change under adjusting 4-way valve which was installed for cooling and heating switch. Beside, the temperature of heat pump was controlled automatically for autonomously adjusting temperature and maintaining a constant room temperature. As results, Inlet & outlet temperature differences of compressor are $95^{\circ}C$ in cooling condition and $57^{\circ}C$ in heating condition. Therefore, Compression efficiency of cooling effect is higher than heating effect. In addition, Heat exchange effect of Cooling system condition is higher than heating system. This results can be used for studying about automatic temperature control of cooling and heating system with heat pump and 4way valve.

  • When the electric motor car was first introduced, an engineer, responsible for the work related to operation and a conductor for the announcement and management of entrances and the other services like as monitoring the passengers in the platforms used to take together the train for passengers' safe. As new technologies developed and the urban transit system had the automatic driving facilities, automatic door switch and broadcasting systems, to solve the financial problems, most subway systems introduced the one-man operation system. To curtail the operating expense through automatic control and operation for the economical efficiency, the crewless driving system was introduced abroad around 1970 on the light weight train and Japan started the crewless driving system in 2005, Germany started it in June 2008. We examine system requirements of the system and methods to construct safe systems that would be introduced, suitable for one-man operation system or crewless driving system through the surveys and analysis of driving state and the systems.

A Study on the Fire Safety of High-rise Apartments Based on Fire Door Switch and Automatic Fire Extinguishing System

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the characteristics and spreading laws of parameters such as fire smoke, concentration of CO, visibility, and temperature at fire scene in high-rise residential buildings under the different conditions of fire doors and automatic fire extinguishing systems. Using Pyrosim to simulate diverse fire scenes in a high-rise apartment with corridors, to analyze the changes in those parameters. The results show that when a fire occurs, closing the fire-fighting corridor will increase the smoke temperature and concentration of CO in the stairwell, and reduce the height and visibility of the smoke layer; the automatic fire extinguishing system effectively suppresses the increase in the temperature of the fire smoke and the sedimentation of the smoke layer. Reasonable setting and operation of the automatic fire extinguishing system could effectively inhibit the spread of fire. Although closing fire corridor can slow down the direct upward spread of smoke through the corridor, it will force the fire smoke into the stairwell, which will seriously affect evacuation through the stairs. Therefore, in order to reduce risks, it is forbidden to close the fire doors of the firefighting corridor and stacking combustible materials in the corridor, Also, intensifying inspections and ensuring the normal operation of the automatic fire extinguishing system are indispensable. Based on the research results, the significance of installing fire-fighting facilities in the construction of high-rise apartments was discussed and proved.

  • This paper is a study on the implementation of a sensor-based smart compression system for improving home and street environments. Since modernization, the amount of garbage has been increasing every year, and this has seriously adversely affected not only people but also ecosystems such as marine pollution and soil pollution. In particular, in large cities with large floating populations, garbage is dumped on the streets without proper measures to deal with the amount of waste generated. In order to improve this problem, this paper intends to implement a system with automatic compression and opening/closing functions using sensors. This system is designed to activate automatic opening/closing function through an infrared sensor, and automatically opening and closing when the inclination is changed using an impact sensor. In addition, by installing a distance sensor, the amount of internal waste can be easily monitored from the outside, and a manual compression switch and a manual opening/closing switch is separately designed to enable opening and closing and compression as needed to increase the effectiveness.

  • In this thesis, the effect of switch maintenance improvement is confirmed after testing and operating the switch monitoring system that were researched and developed originally in order to improve method of electric switch maintenance. However, as in an automatic interlocking station where a ground crew was not placed, repair and inspection could not be carried out until the maintenance person comes in case of switch problems or maintenance. In order to improve this issue, control module was installed in a monitoring system which can communicate through a data radio to a remote computer. Thus, the monitoring device can receive control information which a remote computer commands during the operation of switches. Afterward, it shows information on the real-time status of swith, in particular, anomaly situation through user interface after the switch is operated. By improving performance of the monitoring system in this way which can be managed and controled at a remote place, the prompt countermeasure system in case of disruption will be built and as a result, efficiency and convenience of maintenance improvement will be expected to increase.

  • one of the problems the users of DPS-6/45 used to face in the course of having access to work stations was that a telephone call has to be made manually every time to have receiver's modem on or off, and naturally it meant the waste of manpower as well as of time.   • The automatic fire detection system is an important facility installed with focusing on minimizing the damage from a fire. This paper presents in the followings as the methods to reduce the false alarm of the automatic fire detection system; first, to prepare for legal standard so that revised legal standard can be applied to the fire fighting property prior to revision; second, to introduce the performance based fire detection protection design in the law based fire protection design; third, to maintain the wiring of worn-out detector; forth, to introduce an evaluation system to the education for the fire warden; fifth, to extend the standard of MTBF(meantime between failure) of the detector; sixth, to extend of installing the analog type detector; seventh, to improve the structure of reset switch.

  • In this paper, a system of durability test for ATPS(Automatic Transmission Position Switch), which is used for automatic transmission, has been developed. ATPS is the position sensor for an automatic transmission which transforms the gear changes into the electrical signals and transmits them to TCU(Transmission Control Unit). This system can detect the output signals of the sensor, and also it has been designed to control the position and velocity of a motor to realize the sensor's movement under the running state of a car. And a database system and a GUI system have been developed for the systematic output data management and the convenient interface for users. Also, the operation data and the inspection reference data of a motor can be easily changed in this system, and with some modification the system is also able to used for the durability test of the similar products.

  • We have developed interlocking signalling chart using computer. The basic tool for the automatic signalling chart is table which represent relation between routes and track circuit and track circuit and switch, from track layout being traced using CAD system. In this paper, three elements to be considered are proposed when the signalling chart is build.
