Control of bone cement volume (PMMA) may be critical for preventing complications in vertebroplasty, the percutaneous injection of PMMA into vertebra. The purpose of this study was to predict the optimal volume of PMMA injection based on CT images. For this, correlation between PMMA volume and textural features of CT images was examined before and after surgery to evaluate the appropriate PMMA amount. The gray level run length analysis was used to determine the textural features of the trabecular bone. Extimation of PMMA volume was done using 3D visualization with semi-automatic segmentation on postoperative CT images. Then, finite element (FE) models were constructed based on the CT image data of patients and PMMA volume. Appropriate material properties for the trabecular bone were assigned by converting BMD to elastic modulus. Structural reinforcement due to the changes in PMMA volume and BMD was assessed in terms of axial displacement of the superior endplate. A strong correlation was found between the injected PMMA volume and the area of the intertrabecular space and that of trabecular bone calculated from the CT images (r=0.90 and -0.90, respectively). FE results suggested that vertebroplasty could effectively reinforce the osteoporotic vertebra regardless of BMD or PMMA volume. Effectiveness of additional PMMA injection tended to decrease. For patients with BMD well lower than 50mg/ml, injection of up to 30% volume of the vertebral body is recommended. However, less than 30% is recommended otherwise to avoid any complications from excessive PMMA because the strength has already reached the normal level.

Nowadays, the traffic type and behavior are extremely diverse due to the appearance of various services and applications on Internet, which makes the need of application-level traffic classification important for the efficient management and control of network resources. Although lots of methods for traffic classification have been introduced in literature, they have some limitations to achieve an acceptable level of performance in terms of accuracy and completeness. In this paper we propose an application traffic classification method using statistic signatures, defined as a directional sequence of packet size in a flow, which is unique for each application. The statistic signatures of each application are collected by our automatic grouping and extracting mechanism which is mainly described in this paper. By matching to the statistic signatures we can easily and quickly identify the application name of traffic flows with high accuracy, which is also shown by comprehensive excrement with our campus traffic data.

In this paper, the intermediate frequency transmission signal level between the network system-based baseband and RF unit consisting of multi-channel airborne relay devices and a lot of mission devices, which are currently undergoing technology development tasks, is kept constant at the reference signal level. Considering the other party's receiving input range, despite changes in the short-range long-range wireless communication environment, it presents a multi-link protection and MLP-A algorithm that allows signals to be transmitted stably and reliably through signal detection automatic gain control, and experiments and analysis considering short-distance and long-distance wireless environments were performed by designing, manufacturing, and implementing RF units to which MLP-A algorithms were applied, and applying distance calculation equations to the configuration of multiple air movements and verification networks. Through this, it was confirmed that a stable and reliable RF communication system can be operated.
An automatic measuring system of three dimensional shape by a projection method with grating pattern from in optical spatial modulator has been developed. The characteristics of the system were studied. This system is composed of a projector, an optical spatial modulator, a CCD camera, and computer. A liquid crystal is used as the optical spatial modulator. The grating patterns that ire projected on the surface of the object are controlled by the computer connected with the optical spatial modulator. The projector patterns are measured by the CCD camera. The data are transferred to the computer. After a transformation into line data, the data are analyzed to obtain the coordinate of the surface of the object. This system has advantages as follows. (1) It is possible to capture the surface topography without any contact. (2) The time required for the measurements is shorter than the light-section method. (3) An optical spatial modulator using a liquid crystal is possible to control the grating patterns accurately by a computer. Surfaces of a plate and a cylinder were measured. The threshold level had an influence on the measurement. It was shown that this system has adequae accuracy in the measurements.
To operate the automatic devices of manufacturing process more effectively and to solve the needs of the resource sharing, network technology is applied to the control devices located in common manufacturing zone and operated by connecting them. In this paper, functional standard of the network layers are set as physical and data link layer of IEEE 802.2, 802.4, and VMD application layer and ISO-CIM reference model. Then, they are divided as minimized architecture, designed as group objects which perform group management and service objects which organizes and operates the group. For the stability in this network, this paper measures the variation of data packet length and node number and analyzes the variated value of the waiting time for the network operation. For the method of the analysis, non-exhausted service method are selected, and the arrival rates of the each data packet to the nodes that are assumed to form a Poission distribution. Then, queue model is set as M/G/1, and the analysis equation for waiting time is found. For the evalution of the performance, the length of the data packet varies from 10 bytes to 100 bytes in the operation of the group management network, the variation of the wating time is less than 10 msec. Since the waiting time in this case is less than 10 msec, response time is fast enough. Furthermore, to evaluate the real time processing of the group management network, it shows if the number of nodes is less than 40, and the average arrival time is less than 40 packet/sec, it can perform stable operation even taking the overhead such as software delay time, indicated packet service, and transmissin safety margin.

Smart grid is a fully-automated, bi-directional, power transmission network based on the physical grid system, which combines sensor measurement, computer, information communication, and automatic control technology. Blockchain technology, with its security features, can be integrated with Smart Grids to provide secure and efficient power management and transmission. This paper dicusses the deployment of Blockchain technology in Smart Grid. It presents application areas and protocols in which blockchain can be applied to in securing smart grid. One application of each area is explored in detail, such as efficient peer-to-peer transaction, lower platform costs, faster processes, greater flexibility in power generation to transmission, distribution and power consumption in different energy storage systems, current barriers obstructing the implementation of blockchain applications with some level of maturity in financial services but concepts only in energy and other sectors. Wide range of energy applications suggesting a suitable blockchain architecture in smart grid operations, a sample block structure and the potential blockchain technicalities employed in it. Also, added with efficient data aggregation schemes based on the blockchain technology to overcome the challenges related to privacy and security in the smart grid. Later on, consensus algorithms and protocols are discussed. Monitoring of the usage and statistics of energy distribution systems that can also be used to remotely control energy flow to a particular area. Further, the discussion on the blockchain-based frameworks that helps in the diagnosis and maintenance of smart grid equipment. We have also discussed several commercial implementations of blockchain in the smart grid. Finally, various challenges have been discussed for integrating these technologies. Overall, it can be said at the present point in time that blockchain technology certainly shows a lot of potentials from a customer perspective too and should be further developed by market participants. The approaches seen thus far may have a disruptive effect in the future and might require additional regulatory intervention in an already tightly regulated energy market. If blockchains are to deliver benefits for consumers (whether as consumers or prosumers of energy), a strong focus on consumer issues will be needed.
The purpose of this study was to develop a program to prevent recurrence, focusing on cognitive and behavioral factors to reduce gambling game behavior in children, and to verify the effectiveness to analyze basic data necessary for prevention education. Eight children in the 4th to 6th grades of male students were selected, an experiment and control group were formed, and the effectiveness was verified only after 3 months after the experimental group was conducted once a week. First, irrational gambling beliefs, the level of gambling problems, automatic thinking for children, and the level of gambling problems were reduced through cognitive behavior therapy programs to reduce gambling game behavior in children. Changes in maladaptive thinking that directly affect gambling game behavior instilled awareness of gambling game behavior. Second, self-control and impulsiveness, the behavioral variables, did not show any significant difference, but decreased in the overall average. Changes in cognitive variables influenced behavioral variables. Third, it was found to continue even 3 months after the end of the program. Changes in cognitive and behavioral variables later reduced children's gambling game behavior and helped school life and peer relationships through adaptive thinking.

To reduce costs and address other practical concern related to architectural lighting, we have been involved in various aspects of advanced daylighting design and control. If we look toward future building trends, we see that the advanced has already successfully deployed such complex lighting control systems. This paper takes a broad view of what advanced manufacturers have done to develop energy efficient lighting control technologies such as sensors, lumen maintenance, time of day scheduling, peak demand reduction and so forth. First of all strategies, daylighting controls would also need to be commissioned to respond to the specific daylighting signature of the zone. To translate the daylight in term of the amount of energy savings, an electric lighting system is designed and automatic on-off control system integrated with the contribution of daylighting has been applied to the operating of the artificial lighting. The lighting analysis program, Lumen-Micro predicts the optimal layout of conventional fluorescent and incandescent lighting fixtures to meet the designed lighting level and calculates unit power density, which translates the demanded amount of lighting energy.

This paper reports a Surge Protective Device (SPD) that is used to protect an automatic metering interface (AMI) power supplies of communication equipment on a low-voltage distribution system from a lightning current. The surge protective device (SPD) can be classified as one-port SPDs and two-port SPDs with decoupling elements depending on the connection type. The protection of internal systems against the lightning current may require a systematic approach consisting of coordinated SPDs. To deal with this, the definition of a lightning protection zone (LPZ) was studied and interpreted through a theoretical review. Because the lightning current resulting from a lightning surge is considerably high, there is limited protection from one SPD; therefore, coordinated cascaded MOV-based SPDs are installed to solve this problem. Regarding the power grid mentioned in this paper, a class II SPD for the low-voltage distribution system installed on the border of LPZ1 and LPZ2, which establish a protection coordination with the Arrester (LA, SA) that corresponds to the LPZO installed on the MOF stage connected to one system were designed to protect various communication (control) equipment, including the automatic meter reading system inside the branch-type electric supply panel of a building, not the incoming side of one system. In addition, performance-related tests were done by a comparison with the existing method through testing, and the optimal design was achieved for the 1-port SPD that uses a series connection and can bleed load current without any decoupling element.

Cells of a PV (photovoltaic) module can suffer defects due to various causes resulting in a loss of power output. As a malfunctioning cell has a higher temperature than adjacent normal cells, it can be easily detected with a thermal infrared sensor. A conventional method of PV cell inspection is to use a hand-held infrared sensor for visual inspection. The main disadvantages of this method, when applied to a large-scale PV power plant, are that it is time-consuming and costly. This paper presents an algorithm for automatically detecting defective PV panels using images captured with a thermal imaging camera from an UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle). The proposed algorithm uses statistical analysis of thermal intensity (surface temperature) characteristics of each PV module to verify the mean intensity and standard deviation of each panel as parameters for fault diagnosis. One of the characteristics of thermal infrared imaging is that the larger the distance between sensor and target, the lower the measured temperature of the object. Consequently, a global detection rule using the mean intensity of all panels in the fault detection algorithm is not applicable. Therefore, a local detection rule was applied to automatically detect defective panels using the mean intensity and standard deviation range of each panel by array. The performance of the proposed algorithm was tested on three sample images; this verified a detection accuracy of defective panels of 97% or higher. In addition, as the proposed algorithm can adjust the range of threshold values for judging malfunction at the array level, the local detection rule is considered better suited for highly sensitive fault detection compared to a global detection rule. In this study, we used a panel area extraction method that we previously developed; fault detection accuracy would be improved if panel area extraction from images was more precise. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm contributes to the development of a maintenance and repair system for large-scale PV power plants, in combination with a geo-referencing algorithm for accurate determination of panel locations using sensor-based orientation parameters and photogrammetry from ground control points.
