Computing of the Fuzzy Membership Function for Karyotype Classification (핵형 분류를 위한 퍼지 멤버쉽 함수의 처리)

  • Many researchers have been studied for the automatic chromosome karyotype classification and analysis. For the automatic classify the each chromosome which is the image in microscope, it is necessary to process the sub-procedure, ie. image pre-processing, implementing karyotype classifier. The image pre-processing proceeded the each chromosome separation, the noise exception and the feature parameter extraction. The extracted morphological feature parameter were the centromeric index(C.I.), the relative length ratio(R.L.), and the relative area ratio(R.A.). In this paper, the fuzzy classifier was implemented for the human chromosome karyotype classification. The extracted morphological feature parameter were used in the input parameter of fuzzy classifier. We studied about the selection of the membership function for the optimal fuzzy classifier in each chromosome groups.

A Study on Automatic Detection of The Face and Facial Features for Face Recognition System in Real Time (실시간 얼굴인식 시스템을 위한 얼굴의 위치 및 각 부위 자동 검출에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the real-time algorithm is proposed for automatic detection of the face and facial features. In the face region, we extracted eyes, nose, mouth and so forth. There are two methods to extract them; one is the method of using the location information of them, other is the method of using Gaussian second derivatives filters. This system have high speed and accuracy because the facial feature extraction is processed only by detected face region, not by whole image. There are some kinds of good experimental result for the proposed algorithm; high face detection rate of 95%, high speed of lower than 1sec. the reduction of illumination effect, and the compensation of face tilt.

  • 문서의 의미 기반 처리를 위해서 문서의 내용을 대표하는 키워드를 추출하는 것은 정확성과 효율성 측면에서 매우 중요한 과정이다. 그러나 단일문서로부터 키워드를 추출해 내는 기존의 연구들은 정확도가 낮거나 한정된 분야에 대해서만 검증을 수행하여 결과를 신뢰하기 어려운 문제가 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 정확하면서도 다양한 분야의 텍스트에 적용 가능한 키워드 추출 방법을 제시하고자 단어의 동시출현 정보와 그래프 모델을 바탕으로 TextRank 알고리즘을 변형한 새로운 형태의 알고리즘을 동시에 적용하는 키워드 추출 기법을 제안하였다. 제안한 기법을 활용하여 성능평가를 진행한 결과 기존의 연구들보다 향상된 정확도를 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다.

An Automatic Extraction Algorithm of Road Information in a Map Image (지도영상에서의 도로정보 자동추출 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm which can automatically extract the road information in a map image. The proposed method extracts the road image in the complex map image. The extracted image is converted into the skeleton image by thining method. The converted image contains various problems. In order to correct these problems, after the road is classified by the number of Rutovitz-connectivity which represents the characteristic of road, those are respectively corrected according to the load characteristic. In the simulation, the proposed method has obtained good results for the various type of map images.

Comparison of Document Features Extraction Methods for Automatic Classification of Real World FAQ Mails (실세계의 FAQ 메일 자동분류를 위한 문서 특징추출 방법의 성능 비교)

  • 최근 문서 자동분류의 중요성이 널리 인식되어 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 한글 문서의 효과적인 자동분류를 위한 다양한 특징추출 방법들을 구현하고 실제 질의메일에 대한 효율적인 특징주출 방법을 제시한다. 실험을 위해 문서 빈도(document frequency), 정보획득(information gain), 상호 정보량(mutual information), x$^2$등 7가지 특징추출 방법을 사용하였으며 463개의 실제 테스트 질의메일에 적용한 결과, x$^2$ 방법이 74.7%의 인식률을 내어 성능이 가장 좋음을 알 수 있었다. 반면에 x$^2$와 함께 가장 자주 쓰이는 방법 중의 하나인 정보 이득은 인식률이 최대 40.6%밖에 되지 않았다.

Manchu Script Letters Dataset Creation and Labeling

  • The Manchu language holds historical significance, but a complete dataset of Manchu script letters for training optical character recognition machine-learning models is currently unavailable. Therefore, this paper describes the process of creating a robust dataset of extracted Manchu script letters. Rather than performing automatic letter segmentation based on whitespace or the thickness of the central word stem, an image of the Manchu script was manually inspected, and one copy of the desired letter was selected as a region of interest. This selected region of interest was used as a template to match all other occurrences of the same letter within the Manchu script image. Although the dataset in this study contained only 4,000 images of five Manchu script letters, these letters were collected from twenty-eight writing styles. A full dataset of Manchu letters is expected to be obtained through this process. The collected dataset was normalized and trained using a simple convolutional neural network to verify its effectiveness.

  • As supplying of automatic surveillance or patrol systems based on image processing, the needs on object extraction technology from images increases. The extraction is more difficult when the lighting condition is changed from time to time. There are many approaches to extract objects from images excluding shadow. They have a common problem something like loss of object region according with shadow removal. In this paper a restoration method using color information of objects to complement the problem is presented. The usefulness of the method is verified using images taken from different lighting conditions and selected from well-known DB.

  • Fast and accurate signature extraction is essential to improve the performance of the payload signature-based traffic analysis methods. However the slow manual process in extracting signatures make difficult to deal with the rapidly changing application in current Internet environment. Therefore, in this paper we propose a system automatically generating signatures from ground-truth traffic data. In addition, we improve the efficiency of signature extraction by recognizing the application protocol using a protocol filters and generating signatures automatically according to the application-specific protocol contents. In order to verify the validity of the system proposed in this paper, we compared the signatures automatically generated from our system with the signatures manually created for a few popular applications.

A TRUS Prostate Segmentation using Gabor Texture Features and Snake-like Contour

  • Prostate cancer is one of the most frequent cancers in men and is a major cause of mortality in the most of countries. In many diagnostic and treatment procedures for prostate disease accurate detection of prostate boundaries in transrectal ultrasound(TRUS) images is required. This is a challenging and difficult task due to weak prostate boundaries, speckle noise and the short range of gray levels. In this paper a method for automatic prostate segmentation in TRUS images using Gabor feature extraction and snake-like contour is presented. This method involves preprocessing, extracting Gabor feature, training, and prostate segmentation. The speckle reduction for preprocessing step has been achieved by using stick filter and top-hat transform has been implemented for smoothing the contour. A Gabor filter bank for extraction of rotation-invariant texture features has been implemented. A support vector machine(SVM) for training step has been used to get each feature of prostate and nonprostate. Finally, the boundary of prostate is extracted by the snake-like contour algorithm. A number of experiments are conducted to validate this method and results showed that this new algorithm extracted the prostate boundary with less than 10.2% of the accuracy which is relative to boundary provided manually by experts.

  • In this paper, we propose a framework for the real-time monitoring of wireless biosensors. This is a scalable platform that requires minimum human interaction during set-up and monitoring. Its main components include a biosensor, a smart gateway to automatically set up the body area network, a mechanism for delivering data to an Internet monitoring server, and automatic data collection, profiling and feature extraction from bio-potentials. Such a system could increase the quality of life and significantly lower healthcare costs for everyone in general, and for the elderly and those with disabilities in particular.
