This paper presents a new step-up and step-down multi-pulse auto-transformer rectifier unit (ATRU) topology. This structure can achieve a wide range of output voltages, which solves the problem of auto-transformer output voltage being difficult to regulate. Adding middle taps to the primary winding and reasonably setting the number of auto-transformer windings, constituted two groups of three-phase output voltages with a $30^{\circ}$ phase difference. Multi-pulse output DC voltage is obtained after a three-phase output voltage across two rectifier bridges and inter-phase reactor. Thus, the output DC voltage is related to the number and configuration of the auto-transformer winding. In this paper, the relationship between the voltage ratio of the auto-transformer and the ratio of winding, input current and auto-transformer kilovoltampere rating are deduced and validated by simulations. On this basis, the output voltage range is optimized. An experiment on two different voltage ratio principle prototypes was carried out to verify the correctness of the analysis design.
AC AT feeding system is possible to do the long distance feeding due to compensate the voltage drop. Nowaday this is a typical and efficient type all over the world in high speed train and heavy transport capacity. Normally a Auto-transformer is installed at regular internal (5 to 10km) between Substation and Sectioning post, this study is reviewed the voltage drop according to train movement and the optimal location of auto transformer, and provided the efficient feeding configuration.

An effective method for reducing the harmonics in double connected modified current source inverter[MCSI] by switching taps on auto transformer is presented in this paper. The proposed system operates as like a 24 step MCSI by adding only tap changing auxiliary circuit which consists of several taps and static switching elements to the 12 step multiple inverter, which is double connected three-phase six-step MCSI with an auto transformer. The basic theories of the proposed inverter systems for analyzing the output waveforms are described. And to optimize the effectiveness of the harmonic reduction, the optimum turn ratio and the tap changing control angle of auto transformer are decided by digital simulation and its validity is verified by experiment. Although the construction of the proposed inverter is very simple, it is clarified that the output waveform of the inverter is almost the same as that of the conventional 24 step multiple inverter under the optimum condition.
For conventional interleaved two-phase forward converters with a common output inductor, the maximum duty cycle is 0.5, which limits the voltage range and increases the difficulty of the transformer's optimization. A new two-phase hybrid forward converter with series-parallel auto-regulated transformer windings is presented in this paper. With interleaved control signals for the two phases, the secondary windings of the transformers can work in series when the duty cycle is larger than 0.5, and they can work in parallel when duty cycle is lower than 0.5. Therefore, the maximum duty cycle is extended and the turns ratio of the transformer can be optimized. Duty cycle dependent auto-regulated windings result in the steady states of the converter being different in different duty cycle ranges (D>0.5 and D<0.5). Fortunately, the steady state gains of the proposed hybrid converter are identical at different duty cycle ranges, which means a stepless shift between two states. A prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis. A conventional control loop is compatible for the whole input voltage range and load range thanks to the stepless shifting between the different duty cycle ranges.

We had experienced the several system failures which were concerned about zero sequence voltages at the tertiary side of 345[kV] transformers. In this paper, we had considered the zero sequence voltage and its reduction methods at the 345[kV] auto-transformer tertiary. For analysis, we used EMTP(Electro-Magnetic Transients Program). The calculation results by EMTP were compared with the measured data of the field tests. From the calculation and the field tests, we had verified that it is due to pre-saturation characteristics of the potential transformer. So, we had improved its saturation characteristics and applied it at real site. After improvements, we could reduce the zero sequence voltage below the setting level of the relay.
This paper presents a new algorithm to analyze a train voltages of multi-trains in auto-transformer-fed AC railway systems, using electrical equivalent change. The train current will be divided into circulation and return currents, and these current values are the same. By evaluating each current independently, the result will be more precise. The train current flows through the all auto-transformer corresponding to track impedance. In analyzing the railway system, the algorithm is based on the K.C.L, K.V.L, superposition and circuit separation method. Multi-train's voltages are determined by calculating the catenary voltage at each train's position and adding up these train's voltage drop. Case studies use a field operational data, show that tile proposed method is easily applied.

This paper proposes new 12 and 24-pulse rectifier systems using an open-delta auto-connected transformer. This approach employs two static converters to operate it at higher than utility line frequencies and to provide multi-pulse operation. By operating magnetic components at a higher frequency, higher power density can be achieved. A unique feature of the proposed approach is that the magnetic components for the dc-side are also exposed to a higher frequency and these components too are reduced in size. The switching frequency and its harmonic components are absent in the utility input line current. The VA ratings of the transformer and static converter are 0.236/0.292 [pu] and 0.11/0.18 [pu] in 12 and 24-pulse rectifier system, respectively. A finer grade of steel or alternatives can be deployed to increase performance and reduce size further. Analysis, simulations, simulations, design example, and experimental results for a 480[V], 10{kVA] prototype system are presented.

This paper presents the first Simulation model using EMTDC program to analyze the electrified train voltage distribution characteristics in ac auto-transformer 1110 railroads. In general, all of the electrified train supply system has the characteristics that the train supply line is a naturally non-symmetrical and unbalanced system. Also, it is needed to model the Scott transformer which invert the balanced 3-phase quantity into 2-phase. Therefore, the general simulation methodology using previous simplified equivalent circuit or RMS based program can't obtain the accurate results to reflect the real-time operation because these methodology is basically assumed on completely 3-phase balanced system. To overcome these defects, in this paper, the EMTDC simulation model to analysis the completely electrified railroad system with Scott transformer and AC auto-transformer is presented. Also, the correctness of EMTDC modeling is confirmed by the old basic concepts and we think that this EMTDC model has the future powerful capability for application of railroad system analysis.

This paper proposes an impedance design method of the test device for evaluating Low Voltage Ride Through(LVRT) and High Voltage Ride Through(HVRT) functions. The LVRT/HVRT test device should have ability to generate the fault voltage specified in the grid code for a certain period and to limit the magnitude of the fault current with the design specification. In this paper, the impedance design method for auto transformer is proposed based on a equivalent model of a tap-change auto-transformer during LVRT/HVRT operation. In addition, to generate various fault voltages required the LVRT/HVRT test, tap impedance design in the auto transformer is considered. To verify the validity of the proposed design method, the design process of the 10MVA LVRT/HVRT test device was conducted and the design results was verified through simulation models.
