Development of a Indoor LBS Application for Navigation - Focusing on Development for an IndoorGML Editor and Viewer - (실내 길 찾기를 위한 Indoor LBS 어플리케이션 개발 - IndoorGML 에디터(Editor) 및 뷰어(Viewer) 개발을 중심으로 -)

  • Due to an increase in the number of large-scale and high rise buildings, the importance of indoor location information has been highlighted. As a result, seamless three-dimensional space information, linked to various indoor and outdoor services is required. The purpose of this study is to develop a system which can edit and operate indoor space information using the IndoorGML(Geography Markup Language). It provides functions such as converting and editing authoring indoor space using the IndoorGML. Based on defined schema which is the IndoorGML international standardization work, we develop the "Editor" and "Viewer" for the IndoorGML. When indoor space is modeled in an authoring tool, a variety of topologies can be created automatically. These are available to be edited and modified. Moreover, the file of model can be saved as IndoorGML, SBM and KML file. These files are viewed by the "Viewer". Indoor LBS(Location Based Service)is served with these principles.

  • Recently the technological advance in the hardware dealing with multimedia data as well as the explosive increase of the volume of multimedia data bring about new interest in the use of multimedia presentations in many application domains. To use multimedia presentations efficiently, the integration of multimedia presentations into DBMS is necessary. This paper presents a multimedia presentatation query language based on contents and query processing techniques. Presently, multimedia presentation authoring tools denote a multimedia presentation using a presentation graph which is a DAG. A Node in the graph is a same type of media stream and edges denote a play-out order and a synchronization way among nodes. The contents of presentations graphs are the information of each stream, the sequential order of the information inside each stream and the play-out order among the streams. GCalculus/S is a calculus-based query language and can deal with the contents of a presentation graph and physical characteristics of multimedia data. It expresses the sequential order of information inside each stream and the play-out order of streams of a presentation graph using temporal operators Next, Connected and Until. O-Algebra, which is object algebra, is extended to process GCalculus/S queries.

VIRTUAL REALITY SHIP SIMULATOR

  • This paper describes prototype Virtual Reality Ship Simulator (VRSS) that we have recently developed next-generation training equipment based on the virtual reality (VR) technology. The inherent defects of conventional ship simulators are enormous costs and difficult system upgrade due to the system construction, such as large mock-up bridge system, wide visual presentations, In this paper, to cope with those problems, we explored VR technology that can give realistic environments in a virtual world. Then we constructed prototype VRSS system, which is, consists of PC-based human sensors, and Databases set having 3D object models and coefficients of Head Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs). 3D-WEBMASTER authoring tool was used as Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML). Using the VRSS system, we constructed Port an Passage Simulator for the harbor of INCHON in Korea, and Ship and Sea State Simulator for an arbitrary given sea environmental states by user. Through many simulation tests, we testified the efficiency of developed prototype VRSS by subject assessment with five participants. Then, we present results on the simulation experiments and conclude with discussion of evaluation results.

  • Implementation of Model-based Systems Engineering(MBSE) depends on a model supporting efficient communication among engineers from various domains. And SysML is designed to create models supporting MBSE but unfortunately, SysML itself is not practical enough to be used in real-world engineering projects. SysML is designed to express generic systems and requires specialized knowledge, so a model written in SysML is less capable of supporting communication between a systems engineer and a sub-system engineer. Domain Specific Languages(DSL) can be a great solution to overcome the weakness of the standard SysML. A SysML based DSL means a customized SysML for a specific engineering domain. Unfortunately, current researches on SysML Domain Specific Language(DSL) for the plant engineering industry are still on the early stage. So as the first step, we have developed our own SysML based Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) creation environment and P&ID itself of a specific plant system, using a widely used SysML authoring tool called MagicDraw. P&ID is one of the most critical output during the plant design phase, which contains all information required for the plant construction phase. So a SysML based P&ID has a great potential to enhance the communication among plant engineers of various disciplines.

  • 현재 웹 기반 정보들은 일반적인 멀티미디어에서 텍스트, 이미지, 오디오 및 비디오가 시간에 따라 유기적으로 통합된 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 형식으로 변화하고 있다. 이 형식을 지원하기 위하여 다양한 멀티미디어 데이터를 동기화할 수 있는 SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) 1.0이 W3C에 의하여 표준으로 채택되었고, 계속해서 2000년 9월에 SMIL 2.0의 working draft가 발표되었다. 현재의 멀티미디어 저작도구는 대부분 SMIL 1.0 만을 지원하고, 웹 동작을 직접적으로 지원하지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 이 문제를 해결하기 위하여 SMIL 2.0과 일반적인 웹 저작언어인 HTML을 모두 지원하는 멀티미디어 저작도구를 설계하고 구현하였으며, 실제 저작 과정을 수행하여 그 효용성을 검증하였다.

  • 스마트폰과 스마트TV와 같은 다양한 콘텐츠 소비 단말들이 급속히 보급되는 최근의 IT환경에서는 콘텐츠 제작, 유통, 소비에 있어서 예전과는 다른 패러다임을 요구하게 되었다. 예를 들어 각기 다른 해상도, 연산량, 사용자환경 등의 다양한 조건들에 대한 고려가 중요한 문제로 부각되고 있다. 이를 해결하고자 단일 서비스 콘텐츠 패키지로 여러 단말들에게 적응적인 서비스를 제공하는 Scalable Application Description Language(SADL)에 기반한 스케일러블 어플리케이션 프레임워크가 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 스케일러블 어플리케이션 프레임워크에서 적응형 서비스 콘텐츠를 쉽게 생산하고 패키징 할 수 있도록 이클립스 공개소스 플랫폼 기반의 저작도구를 제안 및 개발하였다. 개발한 저작도구는 유지 보수 및 확장성을 고려하여 모델-뷰-컨트롤러에 기반한 Graphical Editing Framework(GEF)를 이용했다. 제안하는 저작도구는 다양한 운영체제에서 작동하며, 유지보수 및 확장성이 우수하다. 또한 서비스 콘텐츠 개발을 위해 이클립스 플랫폼이 지원하는 다양한 플러그인 도구들을 그대로 활용 가능하다는 장점을 갖는다. 뿐만 아니라 본 저작도구는 기능의 추가적인 확장을 통해 홈 내 가상화 장치들을 위한 응용 프로그램 제작에도 활용할 수 있다.

  • 최근 인터넷 및 디지털 방송 서비스 환경 변화에 따라 사용자에게 제공되는 디지털 콘텐츠가 기하급수적으로 증가하게 되었고, 스마트 TV, 스마트 패드, 스마트폰 등 디지털 콘텐츠를 이용할 수 있는 기기들이 다양화 되어지고 있다. 또한, 사용자가 디지털 콘텐츠를 수집하는 경로와 이용하는 환경도 다양해지고 있다. 하지만, 현재 사용자가 제공되어 지고 있는 디지털 콘텐츠들은 특정 단말 및 사용환경에 종속된 형태로 제작되어 서비스되어지고 있으며, 다양한 성능을 가지는 단말들의 특성과 디지털 콘텐츠를 이용하는 사용자의 사용환경에 최적화된 서비스를 제공하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 단말의 특성 및 사용자 사용환경에 최적화된 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 스케일러블 데이터 서비스를 제공하기 위한 프레임워크 기술과 스케일러블 데이터 서비스를 기술하기 위한 언어인 SADL(Scalable Application Descript Language)를 소개하고, 사용자가 사용하는 단말 특성과 사용환경에 최적화된 서비스를 제공하기 위한 SADL기반 콘텐츠를 저작할 수 있는 저작도구를 제안한다.

Development of A News Event Reenactment System (사건재연 시스템 개발)

  • This paper presents a mews event reenactment system (NERS), which generates virtual character animations in a quick and convenient manner. Thus, NERS can be used to produce computer graphics(CG) scenes of news events that are hard to photograph, such as fire, traffic accident, cases of murder, and so on. By using plenty of captured motion data and CG model data this system produces an appropriate animation of virtual characters straightforwardly without any motion capturing device and actors in the authoring stage. NERS is designed to be capable of making virtual characters move along user-defined paths, stitching motions smoothly and modifyingthe positions and of the articulations of a virtual character in a specific frame. Therefore a virtual character can be controlled precisely so as to interact with the virtual environments and other characters. NERS provides both an interactive and script-based (MEL: Maya Embedded Language) interface so that user can this system in a convenient way. This system has been implemented as a plug-in of commercial CG tool, Maya (Alias/wavefront), in order to make use of its advanced functions

Application of Authoware for the Oceanography Learning System Based on WBI (오소웨어를 이용한 해양학습교육매체의 제작에 관한 연구)

  • According to the development of internet with Web, WBI has greatly influence on the present educational society. However, it is difficutly to design the web of the dynamic motions of graphics or animation using general programming technique based on high or low level language. Recently, Mecromedia Company supported a tool that is called Authoware which is the leading visual rich-media authoring solution for creating Web and online learning applications, to solve the problem easily. In the paper, using the the Authoware we tried to develop a web page about tidal variations due to sea level change and intertidal zone variations using the Authorware 5.1. To do this, we used the ocean survey data of Iho beach and the tidal level data based on Tidal Tables of Cheju harbor. The results showed that the Authorware was very useful to construct the simulation of tidal phenomena on web. Therefore, the Authorware can be applied to the simulation related with animation and dynamic motions for the other WBI objective.
