  • Sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks are vulnerable to security than wired network due to using limited hardware performance and wireless communications that network topology changes frequently. Among techniques to enhance the security, the node authentication mechanism is used to defend against data forgery attacks using the ID of the node or to interfere with the routing of the network routing. In this paper, we proposed the AM-E mechanism that makes authentication key by using the energy value of node requesting authentication and performs the communication procedures for data transfer between different nodes. Because the energy value of node is changed depending on time, every time the authentication request is, an authentication key is changed. These features enhance the security of sensor networks and will help to configure the more secure WSN.

  • IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN technology is essential for wireless internet, next generation converged network and home network. But, it is certain that user's privacy must be provided to expand the applicable area in IEEE 802.11 WLAN. Recently, WEP and 802.11i security scheme can be used in MAC Layer. But with VPN technology which is applied to WLAN user, it means that suity mechanism is used redundantly. One bit authentication mechanism was already proposed to solve this redundancy. In this paper, we analyze problems of 1-bit Authentication mechanism which are failure of synchronization and waste of packet. And we propose new algorithm which synchronizes sender with receiver, at once, using duplicated-packet-count information. We show that our algorithm improves success probability of packet authentication up to $98\%$ and efficiency of authentication bit stream up to $97\%$.

  • It is necessary for us to enhance the security service on smart phone by using voice data on authentication procedure. In this study, a voice data based one-time password generation mechanism is designed and implemented for enhancing user authentication on smart phone. After receiving a PIN value from the server, a user inputs his/her own voice biometric data using mike device on smart phone. And then this captured a voice biometric data will be used to generate one-time token on server side after verification procedures. Based on those mutual authentication steps, a voice data based one-time password(V-OTP) will be generated by client module after receiving the one-time token from the server finally. Using proposed voice one-time password mechanism, it is possible for us to provide more secure user authentication service on smart phone.

  • Authentication is a mechanism to establish proof of identities, the authentication process ensure that. Who a particular user is. Nowadays PC and laptop user authentication systems are always done once a hold until s explicitly revoked by the user, or asking the user to frequently reestablish his identity which encouraging him to disable authentication. Zero-Interaction Authentication (ZIA) provides solution to this problem. In ZIA,. a user wears a small authentication token that communicates with a laptop over a short-range, wireless link. ZIA combine authentication with a file encryption. Here we proposed a Laptop-user Authentication Based Mobile phone (LABM). In our model of authentication, a user uses his Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone, which work as an authentication token that provides the authentication for laptop over a Bluetooth wireless link, m the concept of transient authentication with our combining It with encryption file system. The user authenticate to the mobile phone infrequently. In turn, the mobile phone continuously authenticates to the laptop by means of the short-range, wireless link.

  • Nowadays, various type of technologies are used for user authentication, such as knowledge based(ID/PW, etc.) authentication, biometric based(Iris/fingerprint/vein recognition) authentication, ownership based(OTP, security card, etc.) authentication. ID/PW authentication technology, a knowledge based authentication, despite the advantages of low in implementation and maintenance costs and being familiar to users, there are disadvantages of vulnerable to hacking attacks, Other authentication methods solve the vulnerability in ID/PW authentication technology, but they have high initial investment cost and maintenance cost and troublesome problem of reissuance. In this paper, we proposed to improve security and convenience over existing ID/PW based authentication technology, and to secure user authentication without restriction on the devices used for authentication.

  • Kerberos authenticates clients using symmetric-key cryptography, and supposed to Oust other systems of the realm in distributed network environment. But, authentication and authorization are essential elements for the security. In this paper, we design an efficient and secure authentication/authorization mechanism by introducing the public/private-key and installing the proxy privilege server to Kerberos. In the proposed mechanism, to make a system more secure, the value of the session key is changed everytime using MAC(message authentication code) algorithm with the long-term key for user-authentication and a random number exchanged through the public key. Also, we reduce the number of keys by simplifying authentication steps. Proxy privilege server certifies privilege request of client and issues a privilege attribute certificate. Application server executes privilege request of client which is included a privilege attribute certificate. Also, a privilege attribute certificate is used in delegation. We design an efficient and secure authentication/authorization algorithm with Kerberos.

  • Although much research has been conducted in the area of authentication in wireless networks, vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) pose unique challenges, such as real-time constraints, processing limitations, memory constraints, frequently changing senders, requirements for interoperability with existing standards, extensibility and flexibility for future requirements, etc. No currently proposed technique addresses all of the requirements for message and entity authentication in VANETs. After analyzing the requirements for viable VANET message authentication, we propose a modified version of TESLA, TESLA++, which provides the same computationally efficient broadcast authentication as TESLA with reduced memory requirements. To address the range of needs within VANETs we propose a new hybrid authentication mechanism, VANET authentication using signatures and TESLA++ (VAST), that combines the advantages of ECDSA signatures and TESLA++. Elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA) signatures provide fast authentication and non-repudiation, but are computationally expensive. TESLA++ prevents memory and computation-based denial of service attacks. We analyze the security of our mechanism and simulate VAST in realistic highway conditions under varying network and vehicular traffic scenarios. Simulation results show that VAST outperforms either signatures or TESLA on its own. Even under heavy loads VAST is able to authenticate 100% of the received messages within 107ms. VANETs use certificates to achieve entity authentication (i.e., validate senders). To reduce certificate bandwidth usage, we use Hu et al.'s strategy of broadcasting certificates at fixed intervals, independent of the arrival of new entities. We propose a new certificate verification strategy that prevents denial of service attacks while requiring zero additional sender overhead. Our analysis shows that these solutions introduce a small delay, but still allow drivers in a worst case scenario over 3 seconds to respond to a dangerous situation.

  • A novel authentication mechanism is biometric authentication where users are identified by their measurable human characteristics, such as fingerprint, voiceprint, and iris scan. The technology of biometrics is becoming a popular method for engineers to design a more secure user authentication scheme. In terms of physiological and behavioral human characteristics, biometrics is used as a form of identity access management and access control, and it services to identity individuals in groups that are under surveillance. In this article, we review the biometric-based authentication protocol by Althobati et al. and provide a security analysis on the scheme. Our analysis shows that Althobati et al.'s scheme does not guarantee server-to-user authentication. The contribution of the current work is to demonstrate this by mounting threat of data integrity and bypassing the gateway node on Althobati et al.'s scheme. In addition, we analysis the security vulnerabilities of Althobati et al.'s protocol.
