  • Object recognition distinguish objects which are different from each other. But Face recognition distinguishes Identity of Faces with Similar Patterns. Feature extraction algorithm such as LBP, HOG, Gabor is being replaced with Deep Learning. As the technology that identify individual face with machine learning using Deep Learning Technology is developing, The Face Recognition Technology is being used in various field. In particular, the technology can provide individual and detailed service by being used in various offline environments requiring user identification, such as Smart Mirror. Face Recognition Technology can be developed as the technology that authenticate user easily by device like Smart Mirror and provide service authenticated user. • This paper proposes an efficient and secure user authentication and key agreement scheme instead of the HTTP digest and TLS between the SIP UA and server. Although a number of security schemes for authentication and key exchange in SIP network are proposed, they still suffer from heavy computation overhead on the UA's side. The proposed scheme uses the HTIP Digest authentication and employs the Diffie-Hellman algorithm to protect user password against dictionary attacks. For a resource-constrained SIP UA, the proposed scheme delegates cryptographically computational operations like an exponentiation operation to the SIP server so that it is more efficient than the existing schemes in terms of energy consumption on the UA. Furthermore, it allows the proposed scheme to be easily applied to the deployed SIP networks since it does not require major modification to the signaling path associated with current SIP standard.

  • In mobile Internet banking service through wireless local area network, security is a most important factor to consider. We describe the development of mobile banking service using Personal Digatal Assistant (PDA). In order to increase the strength of encryption, we adopted hybrid approach where both of the public key algorithm and the secret key algorithm are used during the transaction among PDA, banking server and authentication server.

  • This paper proposes a new watermarking algorithm to embed data in 1-bit images using edges for protecting illegal copies or modifications. This method is based on edge detection to decide the most invisible region. This paper also introduces a new shuffling method which embeds data in each blocks uniformly and finds Positions under the limited attacks. In experiment, we compare the proposed shuffling method with M. Wu's method.

  • Fingerprints have been widely used in the biometric authentication because of its performance, uniqueness and universality. Lately, the speed of identification has become a very important aspect in the fingerprint-based security applications. Also, the reliability still remains the main issue in the fingerprint identification. A fast and reliable fingerprint matching algorithm based on the process of the 'self-nonself' discrimination in the biological immune system was proposed. The proposed algorithm is organized by two-matching stages. The 1st matching stage utilized the self-space and MHC detector string set that are generated from the information of the minutiae and the values of the directional field. The 2nd matching stage was made based on the local-structure of the minutiae. The proposed matching algorithm reduces matching time while maintaining the reliability of the matching algorithm.

  • Digital watermarking is the technique that embeds invisible signalsincluding owner identification information, specific code, or pattern into multimedia data such as image, video and audio. Watermarking techniques can be classified into two groups; robust watermarking and fragile(semi-fragile) watermarking. The main purpose of the robust watermarking is the protection of copyright, whereas fragile(semi-fragile) watermarking prevents image or video data from illegal modifications. To achieve this goal watermark should survive from unintentional modifications such as random noise or compression, but it should be fragile for malicious manipulations. In this paper, an invertible semi-fragile watermarkingalgorithm for authentication and detection of manipulated location in MPEG-2 bit-stream is proposed. The proposed algorithm embeds two kinds of watermarks, which are embedded into quantized DCT coefficients. So it can be applied directly to the compressed bit-stream. The first watermark is used for authentication of video data. The second one is used for detection of malicious manipulations. It can distinguish transcodingin bit-stream domain from malicious manipulation and detect the block-wise locations of manipulations in video data. Also, since the proposed algorithm has an invertible property, recovering original video data is possible if the watermarked video is authentic.

  • Security of self organized mobile ad hoc networks is an important issue because administration information in the networks is managed by the constituent nodes. Especially authentication mechanism is necessary for trust setup between newly joining nodes and the network. The authentication models and protocols which are based on the wireline infrastructure could not be practical for mobile ad hoc network. Although public key algorithm-based method is widely used for authentication, it is not easy to be applied to mobile ad hoc networks because they do not have infrastructure such as centralized CA which is needed for certificate verification. In this paper, we consider the public key based random CA group method proposed in [1] to provide efficient authentication scheme to mobile ad hoc networks and analyze the performance of the method, which is then compared to the home CA method. From the analysis results, we see that the random CA method where the function of CA is distributed to some mobile nodes and the authentication information is propagated to randomly chosen CAs shows higher reliability and lower cost than home CA method.

  • The new communication paradigm is rapidly shifted from wireless mobile networks to an All-IP(Internet Protocol) network, led by service industry leaders and communication manufacturers. In this paradigm, providing authentication and session keys of a subscriber becomes one of the critical tasks because of IP open accessibility among heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we introduce authentication process procedure of heterogeneous wireless mobile networks and develop so-called IMAS(Integrated Mobile Authentication Server) which can securely inter-work among all mobile networks and support the legacy networks with backward compatibility. Especially, in designing IMAS, mobile authentication inter-working mechanism, key management technique, and other issues to be overcome are presented. We analyze and evaluate the performance of authentication algorithm which creates session key. A simulation environment of IMAS is established, and a performance(TPS; Transaction Per Second) result is analyzed and evaluated. It turned out that IMAS works among heterogeneous wireless mobile networks without compensating efficiency and functionalities of the legacy networks and decrease the entropy of data redundancy and data inconsistency among networks because of the integrity of the distributed Data Base(DB).

  • The existing smart grid device authentication system is concentrated on DCU, meter reading FEP and MDMS, and the authentication system for smart meters is not established. Although some cryptographic chips have been developed at present, it is difficult to complete the PKI authentication scheme because it is at the low level of simple encryption. Unlike existing power grids, smart grids are based on open two-way communication, increasing the risk of accidents as information security vulnerabilities increase. However, PKI is difficult to apply to smart meters, and there is a possibility of accidents such as system shutdown by sending manipulated packets and sending false information to the operating system. Issuing an existing PKI certificate to smart meters with high hardware constraints makes authentication and certificate renewal difficult, so an ultra-lightweight password authentication protocol that can operate even on the poor performance of smart meters (such as non-IP networks, processors, memory, and storage space) was designed and implemented. As a result of the experiment, lightweight cryptographic authentication protocol was able to be executed quickly in the Cortex-M3 environment, and it is expected that it will help to prepare a more secure authentication system in the smart grid industry.

  • Due to the IT convergence trend, many industrial domains are developing their own IoT services. With batteries and lightweight devices, IoT could expand into various fields including smart farms, smart environments, and smart energy. Many battery-powered IoT devices are passive in enforcing security techniques to maintain service time. This is because security technologies such as cryptographic operations consume a lot of power, so applying them reduces service maintenance time. This vulnerable IoT device security environment is not stable. In order to provide safe IoT services, security techniques considering battery power consumption are required. In this study, we propose an IoT device authentication technology that minimizes power consumption. The proposed technology is a device authentication function based on the Diffie-Hell man algorithm, and has the advantage that malicious attackers cannot masquerade the device even if salt is leaked during the transmission section. The battery power consumption of the authentication technology proposed in this study and the ID/PW-based authentication technology was compared. As a result, it was confirmed that the authentication technique proposed in this study consumes relatively little power. If the authentication technique proposed in this study is applied to IoT devices, it is expected that a safer IoT security environment can be secured.
