  • Attribute-based encryption (ABE) is an encryption scheme in which the user is able to decrypt a ciphertext with associated attributes. However, the scheme does not offer the capability of decryption to others when the user is offline. For this reason, the attribute-based proxy re-encryption (ABPRE) scheme was proposed, which combines traditional proxy re-encryption with ABE, so a user is able to empower designated users to decrypt the re-encrypted ciphertext with the associated attributes of designated users. However, previous ABPRE schemes demands a number of pairing operations that imply huge computational overhead. To reduce the number of pairing operations, we reduce the pairing operations with exponent operations. This paper provides a novel approach to an ABPRE scheme with constant pairing operation latency.

  • To ensure data confidentiality and fine-grained access control in business environment, system model using KP-ABE(Key Policy-Attribute Based Encryption) and PRE(Proxy Re-Encryption) has been proposed recently. However, in previous study, data confidentiality has been effected by decryption right concentrated on cloud server. Also, Yu's work does not consider a access privilege management, so existing work become dangerous to collusion attack between malicious user and cloud server. To resolve this problem, we propose secure system model against collusion attack through dividing data file into header which is sent to privilege manager group and body which is sent to cloud server and prevent modification attack for proxy re-encryption key using d Secret Sharing, We construct protocol model in medical environment.

  • ZigBee Network is enabling technology for home automation, surveillance and monitoring system. For better secure network environment, secure and robust security model is important. The paper proposes an application, attribute-based proxy re-encryption on ZigBee networks. The method can distribute the authority to designated sensor nodes to decrypt re-encrypted ciphertext with associated attributes. However, a previous method is required to compute complex pairing operations. The high complexity is not suited to low resource device sensor networks, and it does not provide routing security either. To resolve these problems, we present a novel mechanism. The method can reduce overhead by imposing overhead to full function devices and ensure routing paths as well.

  • User authentication is an important requirement to provide secure network service. Therefore, many authentication schemes have been proposed to provide secure authentication, such as key agreement and anonymity. However, authority of scheme is limited to one's self. It is inefficient when authenticated users grant a certification to other users who are in an organization which has a hierarchical structure, such as a company or school. In this paper, we propose the first authentication scheme to use Attributes-Based Re-encryption that creates a certification to other users with specified attributes. The scheme, which has expanded from Rhee et al. scheme, has optimized computation performance on a smart card, ensuring the user's anonymity and key agreement between users and server.

  • Cloud computing offers a platform that is both adaptable and scalable, making it ideal for outsourcing data for sharing. Various organizations outsource their data on cloud storage servers for availing management and sharing services. When the organizations outsource the data, they lose direct control on the data. This raises the privacy and security concerns. Cryptographic encryption methods can secure the data from the intruders as well as cloud service providers. Data owners may also specify access control policies such that only the users, who satisfy the policies, can access the data. Attribute based access control techniques are more suitable for the cloud environment as they cover large number of users coming from various domains. Multi-authority attribute-based encryption (MA-ABE) technique is one of the propitious attribute based access control technique, which allows data owner to enforce access policies on encrypted data. The main aim of this paper is to comprehensively survey various state-of-the-art MA-ABE schemes to explore different features such as attribute and key management techniques, access policy structure and its expressiveness, revocation of access rights, policy updating techniques, privacy preservation techniques, fast decryption and computation outsourcing, proxy re-encryption etc. Moreover, the paper presents feature-wise comparison of all the pertinent schemes in the field. Finally, some research challenges and directions are summarized that need to be addressed in near future.

  • Medical record is part of the personal information that values the dignity and value of an individual, and can lead to serious social prejudice and disadvantage to an individual when it is breached illegally. In addition, the medical record has been highly threatened because its value is relatively high, and external threats are continuing. In this paper, we propose a medical record sharing framework that guarantees patient's privacy based on blockchain using ciphertext policy-based attribute based proxy re-encryption scheme. The proposed framework first uses the blockchain technology to ensure the integrity and transparency of medical records, and uses the stealth address to build the unlinkability between physician and patient. Besides, the ciphertext policy attribute-based proxy re-encryption scheme is used to enable fine-grained access control, and it is possible to share information in emergency situations without patient's agreement.

  • Recently, the need for outsourcing sensitive data has grown due to the wide spreading of cost-effective and flexible cloud service. However, there is a fundamental concern in using such service since users have to trust external servers. Therefore, searchable encryption can be a very valuable tool to meet the security requirements of data outsourcing. However, most of work on searchable encryption focus only on privacy preserving search function and relatively lacks research on encryption mechanism used to actually encrypt data. Without a suitable latter mechanism, searchable encryption cannot be deployed in real world cloud services. In this paper, we analyze previously used and possible data encryption mechanisms for multi-user searchable encryption system and discuss their pros and cons. Our results show that readily available tools such as broadcast encryption, attribute-based encryption, and proxy re-encryption do not provide suitable solutions. The main problem with existing tools is that they may require separate fully trusted servers and the difficulty in preventing collusion attacks between outsiders and semi-trusted servers.

  • Due to the increasing need for data sharing in the age of big data, how to achieve data access control and implement user permission revocation in the blockchain environment becomes an urgent problem. To solve the above problems, we propose a novel blockchain-based data sharing scheme (BDSS) with fine-grained access control and permission revocation in this paper, which regards the medical environment as the application scenario. In this scheme, we separate the public part and private part of the electronic medical record (EMR). Then, we use symmetric searchable encryption (SSE) technology to encrypt these two parts separately, and use attribute-based encryption (ABE) technology to encrypt symmetric keys which used in SSE technology separately. This guarantees better fine-grained access control and makes patients to share data at ease. In addition, we design a mechanism for EMR permission grant and revocation so that hospital can verify attribute set to determine whether to grant and revoke access permission through blockchain, so it is no longer necessary for ciphertext re-encryption and key update. Finally, security analysis, security proof and performance evaluation demonstrate that the proposed scheme is safe and effective in practical applications.
