  • Shewhart-type control charts have historically been used for attribute data, though they have ARL biased property and even are unable to detect the improvement of a process with some process parameters. So far most efforts have been made to improve the performance of attribute control charts in terms of faster detection of special causes without increasing the rates of false alarm. In this paper, control limits are proposed that yield an ARL (nearly) unbiased chart for attributes. Optimal design is also proposed for attribute control charts under a natural sense of criterion.

베타-이항모형을 이용한 과산포 공정용 p 관리도의 개발 (Development of a p Control Chart for Overdispersed Process with Beta-Binomial Model)

  • Purpose: Since traditional p chart is unable to deal with the variation of attribute data, this paper proposes a new attribute control chart for nonconforming proportions incorporating overdispersion with a beta-binomial model. Methods: Statistical theories for control chart developed under the beta-binomial model and a new approach using this control chart are presented Results: False alarm probabilities of p chart with the beta-binomial model are evaluated and demerits of p chart under overdispersion are discussed from three examples. Hence a concrete procedure for the proposed control chart is provided and illustrated with examples Conclusion: The proposed chart is more useful than traditional p chart, individual chart to treat observed proportions nonconforming as variable data and Laney p' chart.

가변추출간격을 이용한 c 관리도의 최적설계 (Optimal Design of c Control Chart using Variable Sampling Interval)

  • Even though the ad hoc Shewhart methods remain controversial due to various mathematical flaws, there is little disagreement among researchers and practitioners when a set of process data has a skewness distribution. In the context and language of process control, the error related to the process data shows that time to signal increases when a control parameter shifts to a skewness direction. In real-world industrial settings, however, quality practitioners often need to consider a skewness distribution. To address this situation, we developed an enhanced design method to utilize advantages of the traditional attribute control chart and to overcome its associated shortcomings. The proposed design method minimizes bias, i.e., an average time to signal for the shift of process from the target value (ATS) curve, as well as it applies a variable sampling interval (VSI) method to an attribute control chart for detecting a process shift efficiently. The results of the factorial experiment obtained by various parameter circumstances show that the VSI c control chart using nearly unbiased ATS design provides the smallest decreasing rate in ATS among other charts for all experimental cases.

비정규 공정의 극소 불량률 관리를 위한 Zp 관리도 적용 방안 연구 (On the Application of Zp Control Charts for Very Small Fraction of Nonconforming under Non-normal Process)

  • Purpose: The problem for the traditional control chart is that it is unable to monitor the very small fraction of nonconforming and the underlying distribution is the normal distribution. $Z_p$ control chart is useful where it controls the vert small fraction on nonconforming. In this study, we will design the $Z_p$ control chart in order to use under non-normal process. Methods: $Z_p$ is calculated not by failure rate based on attribute data but using variable data. Control limit for non-normal $Z_p$ control chart is designed based on ${\alpha}$-risk calculated by cumulative distribution function of Burr distribution. ${\beta}$-risk, which is for performance evaluation, obtains in the Burr distribution's cumulative distribution function and control limit. Results: The control limit for non-normal $Z_p$ control chart is designed based on Burr distribution. The sensitivity can be checked through ARL table and OC curve. Conclusion: Non-normal $Z_p$ control chart is able to control not only the very small fraction of nonconforming, but it is also useful when $Z_p$ distribution is non-normal distribution.

추정된 모수를 사용한 CCC-r 관리도에서 관리상태의 성능 (The in-control performance of the CCC-r chart with estimated parameters)

  • CCC-r 관리도는 고품질공정에서 공정불량률을 관리하는 경우 매우 효율적이라고 알려져 있다. 이 관리도를 사용할 때 관리상태의 공정모수는 일반적으로 알려져 있지 않기 때문에 제1국면의 표본을 추출하여 이를 추정해야 한다. 제2국면에서 관리도의 성능은 제1국면에서 추정한 모수와 관리한계에 영향을 받기 때문에, 추정 오차의 영향을 살펴보는 것은 중요하다. 이 논문에서는 일반적으로 많이 사용하는 평균런길이의 평균(average of average run length) 이외에 평균런길이의 표준편차(standard deviation of average run length)를 사용하여 CCC-r 관리도의 관리상태의 성능을 평가하였다. 그 결과 CCC-r 관리도에서 안정적인 관리상태의 성능을 유지하기 위해서는 이전에 권장하던 제1국면의 표본 크기보다 훨씬 더 큰 표본이 필요하다는 사실을 알 수 있었다.

New Attributes and Variables Control Charts under Repetitive Sampling

  • New control charts under repetitive sampling are proposed, which can be used for variables and attributes quality characteristics. The proposed control charts have inner and outer control limits so that repetitive sampling may be needed if the plotted statistic falls between the two limits. Particularly, the new np and variable X-bar control charts under repetitive sampling are considered in detail. The in-control and out-of-control average run lengths are analyzed according to various process shifts. The performance of the proposed control charts is compared with the existing np and the X-bar control charts in terms of the average run lengths.

  • Poisson 분포를 따르는 결점수를 관측하여 공정을 관리할 때 표본 크기를 동일하게 유지하기가 힘든 경우가 많다. 이 논문은 표본 크기가 동일하지 않은 경우 Poisson 공정모수의 변화를 탐지하는 GLR(generalized likelihood ratio) 관리도 절차를 제안하고 있다. 또한 제안된 GLR 관리도의 효율을 모의실험을 통하여 기존에 연구된 CUSUM 관리도들과 비교하였다. 모의실험 결과, 제안된 GLR 관리도는 공정모수의 다양한 변화에 대해 효율이 대체적으로 양호했으며, CUSUM 관리도에서 실제 공정모수의 변화값이 미리 지정한 값과 차이가 많이 날 경우 CUSUM 관리도에 비해 효율이 월등히 좋음을 알 수 있었다.

  • In case of pn control chart often used in mass production system of plant industry and so on, we could evaluate it's performance by the approximation to normal distribution. It has many differences according to sample sizes and defective fraction, and have disadvantage that needs much samples to use the normal distribution approximation. Existent control charts can not detect the cause of process something wrong because it is taking the sampling intervals of fixed length about all times from the process. Therefore, to overcome this shortcoming we use VSI(variable sampling intervals) techniques in this paper. This technique takes a long sampling interval to have the next sampling point if the sample point is in stable state, and if the sample point is near control lines, it takes short sampling interval because the probability to escape control limit is high. To analyze performance of pn control charts that have existent fixed sampling intervals(FSI) and that use VSI technique, we compare ATS of two charts, and analyze the performance of each control chart by the sample sizes, process fraction defective and control limits that Ryan and Schwertman had proposed.

  • A model for the economic design of an pn control charts with an assignale cause is presented and the loss-cost function for control schemes using these charts is derived. By minimizing this function with respect to the three control variables, namely, the sample size, the sampling interval and acceptance number, the economically optimal control plan can be optained. The article shows what influence increasing or decreasing condition, according to changeability of the size of these factors, of expected cost can have on the economy when an attribute control chart is used.
