  • This study aims to investigate the changes in health status of inpatients before and after a fall accident, and it is a retrospective study using data from 328 inpatients who fell from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020, reported to the patient safety reporting system. The average age of the study subjects was 68.57(±14.13), and those in their 70s accounted for the most at 30.49%. Falls occurred on average 13.86(±25.03) days after hospitalization, and the time when the most falls occurred was between 22:30 and 06:59 with 42.99%. Before and after a fall during hospitalization, bowel problems (x2=314.0, p<.001), urination problems (x2=284.0, p<.001), intravenous fluid therapy (x2=85.16, p<.001), and walking (x2=69.77. p<.001), bedridden state (x2=51.60, p< .001), mental state and performance (x2=17.52, p<.001) patient's attitude (x2=220.17, p<.001), there was a statistically significant difference. It is necessary to develop an appropriate method and education program for fall prevention in hospital by considering the individual characteristics of inpatient.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing fall-prevention behaviors of nurses working in long-term care hospitals. Methods: Participants included 147 nurses working in 10 long-term care hospitals in B city. Data were collected from September 20-October 12, 2016. SPSS/WIN 21.0 was used for analysis with t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: It was found that attitude toward fall (r=.29, p<.001) and patient safety culture (r=.25, p=.002) had a significant positive correlation with fall-prevention behaviors of nurses working in long-term care hospitals. The factors influencing fall-prevention behaviors in participants were clinical career and patient safety culture (β=.21, p=.012), contributing to 19% of the total variance in fall- prevention behaviors. Conclusion: The findings showed that systematic delivery of differentiated fall prevention education is preferred to nurse's clinical career as a private factor to improve fall-prevention behaviors of nurses in long term care hospital. Particularly, it is imperative to conduct periodical and practical fall-prevention education for nurses to prevent career discontinuity. An independent report system and open communication system as well as a scheme that can disseminate patient safety culture in individual departments to implement patient direct nursing are required to encourage patient safety culture in organizations.

  • This article focuses on the history and evolution of the US court's attitude towards unilateral arbitration and dispute resolution clauses, but also considers the practical approach of national courts to theses clauses. It goes on to consider some potential pitfalls in the operation of unilateral clauses, which should be borne in mind when developing a strategy for bringing or defending a claim which falls within the scope of a unilateral clause. There can be few objections to the general validity of unilateral arbitration clauses. The principle of party autonomy is the driving force behind international arbitration and, provided it is tolerably clear that the parties intended the arbitration clause to operate unilaterally, courts should be reluctant to interfere with the parties' agreement. There are also no persuasive public policy reasons why such clauses should not be upheld in commercial agreements. In addition to the issue of whether such unilateral clauses are permissible under certain law, it is important to be aware of how they should properly operate in practice, that is, useful guidance on the subject of the proper operation and effect of such clauses where they are intended to be used to enable a party to decide whether, and in what circumstances, a claim should be referred to court or to arbitration.

  • In the past most major accidents resulted in death, but today there is a dramatic increase in the number of people who survive such accidents but who are left with permanent injury. Particularly, children who are inquisitive about their surroundings but immature in their ability to assess danger, are more vulnerable to accidents and their causes as well as to determine attitudes towards prevention. The main objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness of using an accident prevention manual for accident for accident prevention education. The study was a quasi-experimental study using a questionnaire format. The subjects of the study were 393 mothers of children attending six day care centers in Seoul. Data collection was done between May 1 and June 15, 1997. The tools used for the study were a questionnaire developed the researchers and a manual for accident prevention. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS. The results of the study are as follows: 1. Types of accidents included stabbing, bums, falls from heights, choking, falls on slippery surfaces, traffic accidents, drowning, poisoning, and electrical shock in that order of frequency. 2. The main causes of accidents in children were from cosmetics and household medications. 3. The most frequent locations of accidents in the home were the bathroom, kitchen, and stairways in that order. 4. For $90.4\%$ of children safety seats were not used when the ridding in a car. 5. In examining the parents' accident prevention practices, it was found that many parents used only . one electrical outlet for many appliances, tending to overload the electricity lines and that they were not practically concerned bout the flammability of children's pajamas, indicating a less than positive attitude towards fire prevention. 6. The parents had not provided their children with any instruction on accident prevention or on what to do after an accident had occurred. 7. After the use of pamphlet in an accident prevention education program, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in the degree to which children carried out safety measures (t=14.96, p=.000) and in their safety habits (t=-1.67, p<.1) indicating an effectiveness in this method of education. The results of this study showed that there are many things in a child's environment that can cause accidents and that the possibility of an accident occurring is high. So nurses looking after children should be aware of the need for safety education to prevent accidents in the home and plan to provide appropriate educational material to help parents with this education.

  • This study aims to develop a field trip program for the Hantan River geopark in Pocheon using Orion's field trip model. The selected learning sites were the Hwajeogyeon and Bidulginang Falls, famous geosites of the Hantan River geopark in Pocheon. The field trip program consisted of six preparatory units, two field trip units, and two summary units. The preparatory stage helped reduce the novelty space considering cognitive, psychological, and geographical factors. In the field trip stage, students acquire concepts linked to learning elements in the curriculum scientifically and encourage interest in science. In the summary stage, students organized the geological phenomena observed in the field and inferred the vicinity of the Pocheon Hantan River region. The field trip program was modified to give enough time for observation activities to increase students' interest in science and to connect concepts with learning elements in the curriculum in the outdoor learning phase to allow students' convergent thinking. Implementing the field trip program raises students' interest and attitude in science.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine validity to Soeum scales by QSCC II. For this study, the objects are 336 patients who were made a diagnosis of Soeumin and 422 patients of other constitutions in Oriental Medicine & Western Medicine Cooperative Health Examination Center KyungHee University Medical Center. A systematic analysis has been made and the results are as follows. 1. We made a frequency analysis in 758 examinees' questions and concluded that 35 questions, among which 30 questions were existing and 5 were new, had statistical significance in making a diagnosis of Soeumin by more than 10% in comparison with answer frequency of other constitutions. 2. Because confidence coefficient of 0.8011 revised Soeum scales(35) rises up as compared with that of 0.6319 existing Soeum scales(51), I think revised Soeum scales reflect trait of Soeumin well and it is liable to shorten question time by controling questions. 3. Soeumin's discrimination probability in Soeumin was 55.4% by QSCCII, but that rises up to 64.3% by discriminant function made by revised Soeum scales. So there is statistical significance in discriminant function. 4. When questions in QSCCII are divided into body-spirit(體形氣像), looks-attitude(容貌詞氣), temper- talent(性質才幹), continuous mind(恒心), avarice(心慾), physiological symptoms(生理的 證) and pathological symptoms(病理的 證), response frequency and constitution discrimination probability falls in questions about avarice and pathological symptoms.

  • In the actual classroom the so-called flow learning is able to motivate the students through face-to-face feedback, and to meet their needs for educational achievement. By contrast, the so-called e-learning method falls short of the satisfactory level of real-life interaction, which makes many learners drop out or give up on their learning. In order to better the e-learning environment, this study presents a dialogue-based feedback system that improves the flow learning of the learners' in the classroom. This newly developed system was applied at the actual school. The result is that the experimented group improved its flow learning, compared with the controlled group. In the former group, each individual showed some consciousness of objective and challenge following the concrete feedback. That is to say, this system enhances the attitude of an active participation and induces the flow learning, thanks to the dialogue-based feedback and the sustained interest in learning. In conclusion, the significance of this study lies in suggesting the direction of a new learning method development in the e-learning environment.

  • Due to the recent pandemic, most educational systems are being conducted through online classes. Unlike face-to-face classes, it is even more difficult for learners to maintain concentration, and evaluating the learners' attitude toward the class is also challenging. In this paper, we proposed a real-time concentration-based review support system for learners in real-time video lectures that can be used in online classes. This system measured the learner's face, pupils, and user activity in real-time using the equipment used in the existing video system, and delivers real-time concentration measurement values to the instructor in various forms. At the same time, if the concentration measurement value falls below a certain level, the system alerted the learner and records the timestamp of the lecture. By using this system, instructors can evaluate the learners' participation in the class in real-time and help to improve their class abilities.

  • Because the educational significance of reading activities for growing children is so great, the importance of reading cannot be overemphasized. While the reading volume of elementary school students in Korea is very high, as they go up to middle school, the reading volume falls rapidly. This study examined a more effective way to resolve this middle school reduction in reading volume. Middle school freshmen were surveyed on their reading habits and preferences in the sixth grade of elementary school, after which the groups were divided into two groups based on their averages; groups with high/low reading habits and groups with high/low reading preferences). Participants also wrote reading reports for six weeks, kept a record of the days of the week they read for more than 20 minutes, and noted down the time they read in minutes. It was found that 75% of participants did not read one book a week when in the sixth grade of elementary school and it was confirmed that reading many books and liking to read were elements that had different dimensions. For example, about 35% of the participants said they liked books but rarely read them. It was also confirmed that the reading habits formed in elementary school were a strong variable that affected the number of days that and the reading time of middle school students rather than the reading preferences formed in elementary school. This study concluded that a subjective attitude toward reading and actually reading were completely different problems, which suggested that 'habits' could have a greater influence than 'preferences' when performing tasks to achieve goals.
