Impact of Environmental Concern on Image of Internal GSCM Practices and Consumer Purchasing Behavior

  • As environmental concerns continue to grow, green supply chain management (GSCM) is attracting attention as an element of competitive advantage for companies. This study examined internal GSCM practices to show how they influenced the end-point of the supply chain from the perspective of the end-consumer. It identified the effects of environmental concerns on consumer purchasing behavior mediated by the company image of internal GSCM practices. Data were collected through an email survey of Korean consumers. Reliability and validity were verified using SPSS 18.0. Cronbach's alpha, and confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed that environmental concerns had a positive impact on such practices, and the image of internal GSCM practices was found to have a significantly positive effect on consumer purchasing behavior. Companies will have to actively reflect environmental factors in their operational activities, and GSCM implementation will become a necessity. A positive image of internal environmental management and eco-design, which are key elements of internal GSCM practices, strengthened the company's eco-friendly image and ultimately affected consumer purchasing behavior. This suggests that it is important for companies to evaluate their environmental attitude and make eco-friendly products from a consumer's perspective, making it a differentiation strategy for a company in building an eco-friendly corporate image.

Preventive Behavior and Health Belief about Hepatitis A of Adults in their Twenties to Thirties (20~30대 성인의 A형 간염 건강신념과 예방행위)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to identify the relationship between preventive behavior and health belief about Hepatitis A among young adults. Methods: The sample consisted of 197 participants between the ages of twenty and forty. The data were collected from May 3 to May 30 2011 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Preventive Behavior's Scale about Hepatitis A and Health Belief's Scale about Hepatitis A were used for data collection. Results: The mean scores of health behavior ($2.97{\pm}0.34$) and preventive behavior ($2.46{\pm}0.30$) about Hepatitis A were about average degree. The participant's characteristics with preventive behavior were significantly different according to type of residence (${\chi}^2$=4.74, p =.040), experience of obtained knowledge about Hepatitis A (${\chi}^2$=5.68 p =.018) and attitude about Hepatitis A (${\chi}^2$=15.20, p<.001). Significant correlations were found between health behavior and preventive behavior with Hepatitis A (r=.20, p =.005). The preventive behavior had a significant positive correlation with susceptibility (r=.22, p =.001), severity (r=.17, p =.015), and benefit (r=.32, p<.001) towards Hepatitis A as the details of the health belief. Conclusion: These findings indicate that health belief may be necessary to improve compliance with preventive behavior on Hepatitis A among young adults. It is necessary to develop the strategy of reinforcing health belief in complying with preventive behavior for preventing the occurrence of Hepatitis A.

Application and Evaluation of An Attitudinal Model for Travel Mode Choice Behavior Analysis (교통수단 선택행태 분석을 위한 태도모형의 적용 및 평가)

  • In order to analyze travel mode choice behavior, behavioral models including logit model, based on revealed preference theory, have been using easily measurable variables such as individual socioeconomic characteristics and physical attributes of travel modes. But some recent attitudinal models of travel choice behavior have implied that the negligence of individual psychological variables and individual choice constraints in travel mode choice might preclude better prediction of individual travel mode choice behavior. In this context, this study was attempted to reconstruct an attitudinal model(AM), especially focused on the decision rules in travel mode choice decision making process, consistent with the conceptual framework relating individual attitude and choice constraints to choice behavior. And to evaluate the strengths of the AM to other comparative models(logit, linear-additive, conjunctive, lexicographic model) in predicting travel mode choice bebavior, an empirical study of the mode choice in work-trip to CBD in Seoul was performed. According to the results the percent of correct prediction(PCP) derived from the AM was higher than those derived from comparative models by at least 7 to 20% in predicting travel mode choice. But each model produced a different prediction accuracy depending on market segmentation by travel modal users, individual socioeconomic characteristics, transportation system characteristics, and satisfaction levels. The finding that different groups divided by a certain criterion employ different decision rules supports the necessity of developing a choice model such as the AM combining compensatory and noncompensatory decision rules, and suggests that a proposed transportation system management plan or policy may have different effects on each group.

A Study of Comparison between Internet Banking and Mobile Banking by Extending the TAM (기술수용모형을 이용한 인터넷 뱅킹과 모바일 뱅킹 이용의 차이에 관한 연구)

  • Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) considers perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness as the important determinants of user behavior regarding information technology. As an extension of TAM, this research examines perceived security as an additional determining variable to explain an individual's acceptance and use of mobile banking as well as internet banking. The results show that perceived ease of use does not affect the individual's attitude toward the use of mobile or internet banking, while perceived usefulness does. Furthermore, perceived security affects perceived usefulness in mobile banking, but not in internet banking. In addition, in mobile banking, perceived security is positively related to perceived usefulness, though perceived security is negatively related to attitude. Finally, the average scores of surveyed data for Internet banking are higher and significantly different than those for mobile banking.

  • The best way to care senile dementia patients is understanding the nature of disease. Care-givers can't understand the patients because the patients can't properly communicate with care-givers. Thus, care-givers are supposed to find out ways to understand them in the nature of disease. From this view, there seems no exception in essential attitude of care-givers toward the patients. Without positive understanding the nature of disease and respecting patient's rights as a human even though they are badly disorder in their word and behavior. There seems no expectation for thousands quality of care-giving.

  • The environmental education is based on the assumption that accurate knowledge and attitude could be linked to real action, but those have no effect on changing the behavior. To effect the change in behavior, we need to consider the reflective thinking which can make people change their behavior. The strategies to accelerate the reflective thinking are five steps of the reflective thinking process and the interaction through the discussion of students. And also, it is more proper if the contents are based on the real experiences of the students. Thus, this study tried to know whether the improvement of reflective thinking was able to affect to the environmental behavior. The environment education program was applied to the 60 elementary school 6th grade students in Gyeonggi-do and the survey methods were presented in the general experimental curriculum. To study 6th subjects (energy, harmful chemical material, heavy metal and agricultural chemicals, food additive, environmental friendly consumption, and recycle) was developed. This study shows the effect of the program on the environment knowledge, the environment behavior, the level of reflective-thinking and communication ability.

Purchase Behavior of Young Consumers Toward Green Packaged Products in Vietnam

  • While green packaging related concerns are mainly studied in developed countries, there is a lack of knowledge to observe purchase behavior toward green packaging in developing countries, especially in Vietnam. Buying green packaged products in FMCG is not required to trade-off between sustainability and product performance. Hence, this present research aims to understand the gap attitude - behavior existing on FMCG green packaged products among Vietnamese young consumers with psychosocial factors (environmental concern, environmental knowledge of green packaging and green trust) and contextual factors (availability of desired green packaging and product attributes). With a sample size of 396 respondents, data was collected by convenient sampling method and then was analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results reveal that all psychosocial factors are positive related to attitudes while purchase behavior is positively influenced. The findings also report that contextual factors have positive impacts on purchase behavior, which proves the important role of contextual factors in influencing consumer choices. It suggests that green packaging is receptive to Vietnamese young consumers but it should be considered within product-related context to enhance the difference in sustainability among similar FMCG products. Practical implications for marketers and future researches have also been discussed at the end of study.

Factors Influencing the Intention to have Stomach Cancer Screening (향후 2년 이내의 위암 검진 이용 의도의 예측 요인)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the intention to have stomach cancer screening using the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in Korea. Methods : For this population-based study, 1,535 adult respondents (aged 40 to 70 years) were recruited using multi-stratified random sampling and a face-to-face administered questionnaire. This study was based on Ajzen's theory of planned behavior. Intentions were divided into three scenarios for fee payment in the next two years : (1) free of charge, (2) co-payment, and (3) full charge. Multiple linear regression was used to identify the factors influencing the intention to have stomach cancer screening. Results : Perceived behavioral control and attitude toward stomach cancer screening were significant predictors of the intention to have stomach cancer screening. However, subjective norm only influenced the intention to have stomach cancer screening with full charge in the next two years. Conclusions : The results suggest that attitude and perceived behavioral control are likely to contribute toward increasing the intention to have stomach cancer screening. Especially, perceived behavioral control is a good predictor. Because the study subjects were nation wide residents, the study results can be generalized.

A Study on How 12 Year-Old Children are Aware of the Dental Health in Seongnam city (성남시 12세 아동의 구강보건의식에 대한 조사)

  • This study intended to identify how our children are aware of dental health and motivate them to learn reasonable knowledge about dental health. Furthermore, it also aimed to induce them to change their awareness and behavioral style about dental health, so that they may keep good habits for dental health for their lifetime. Total 1,044 samples were collected from children who were all 12 years old and lived in Seongnam city. During six months (June to December 2002), they were asked to participate in questionnaire survey about consumer behavior, knowledge, attitude, activity and self-diagnosis for dental health. The results of questionnaire survey can be outlined as follows: (1) The results of investigating consumer behavior for dental health showed that 34.5% of total respondents ever visited dental clinics once or more within latest one year, 21.4% ever visited dental clinics for the sake of prevention, 70.6% were instructed in dental health program, 31.7% were treated with the fluorination, 36.9% were treated with dental sealant, and 17.1% were treated with scaling, respectively. (2) For 10 items asking reasonable knowledge about dental health, respondents answered to 5.06 items on average. (3) For 10 items asking reasonable attitude for dental health, respondents answered to 5.41 items on average. (4) For 10 items asking reasonable behavior, respondents answered to 4.53 items. (5) For 10 items asking reasonable self-diagnosis for dental health, respondents answered to 5.65 items.

Development of the Aggressive Regulation Behavior Scale for Middle School Student: Based on Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behavior (중학생의 공격조절행위 측정 도구 개발: Ajzen의 계획된 행위 이론을 기반으로)

  • Objectives: This study was to develop a measurement scale that explains aggressive regulation behavior of middle school student, based on Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and verify its validity and reliability. Methods: The basic items were modified by selecting 41 items of middle school student aggressive behavior measurement scale. Through the content validity test, 63 first preliminary question items and 42 second preliminary question items were developed. The participants were 286 middle school students. The collected data were analyzed using content validity, correlation coefficient, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability and Cronbach α. Results: In this study, it was proved that the most important variable showing aggressive regulation behavior was aggressive regulation intention. This study was composed of 4 factors for direct measurement(attitude toward the behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, behavior intention) and 5 factors for indirect measurement(behavioral beliefs, outcome evaluation, normative beliefs, motivation to comply, control beliefs). The total variance was 65.4% and 67.6%, respectively, and the reliability was .90, .82. Finally, 42 questions were developed. Conclusion: We found the questionnaire used in this study was valid and reliable as a measure scale to explain the aggressive regulation behavior of middle school student based on TPB. Therefore, it is concluded that the aggressive regulation behavior scale could be a useful scale for the measurement of the aggressive regulation behavior of middle school student.
