The S wave velocity and Q$s^{-1}$ structure of the uppermost part of the soil in Nakdong Delta area have been obtained to determine the characteristics of the forementioned soil. The phase and attenuation coefficients of multichannel seismic records were inverted to obtain the S wave velocity and Q$s^{-1}$ structure of the soil. The inversion results have been compared with the borehole measurements of the area. The seismic signal of the nearest geophone from a seismic source was used as the source signal to obtain the attenuation coefficients. Amplitude ratios of the signal at each geophone to the source signal wave plotted as a function of distance for the frequency range between 10 Hz and 45 Hz. The slope of a linear regression line which fits amplitude ratio-distance relationship best for a given frequency was used as the attenuation coefficients for the frequency. The dispersion curve of Rayleigh waves and the attenuation coefficients were inverted to obtain the S-wave velocity and Q$s^{-1}$, respectively, in the uppermost 8 meter of soil layer. The borehole measurements of the area show that are two distinct layers; the upper 4 meter of silty-sand and the lower 4 meter of silty-clay. The inversion results indicate that the shear wave velocity of the upper layer is 80 m/sec and 40m/sec in the lower silty-clay layer. The spacial resolution of the shear wave velocity structure is very good down to a depth of 8 meter. The Q$s^{-1}$ in the upper silty-sand layer is 0.02 and increase to 0.03 in the lower silty-sand layer. The spacial resolution of quality factor is relatively good down to a depth of 5 meter, but very poor below the depth. In this study, the S-wave velocity is higher in the silty-clay and the Q$s^{-1}$ is smaller silty-sand than in the silty-clay. However, much more data should be analyzed and accumulated before making any generalization on the shear wave velocity and Q$s^{-1}$ of the sediments.

A coupled-defected ground structure(C-DGS) having closely-located DGS cells is proposed for high performance bandstop filter applications. The negative coupling of ground currents between adjacent DGS cells greatly improves the stopband characteristics. We have measured the attenuation slope of 110.8 dB/GHz and -20 dB rejection band from 3.8 GHz to 15.5 GHz. Compared to the double-plane BSF, the proposed BSF improved the sharp cutoff response 7.6 times. We expect the C-DGS be helpful to improve the performance of DGS application circuits and also to extend the possible DGS applications.

A coupled room system consists of adjacent rooms and apertures where the sound energy is exchanged between the two rooms. Acoustically, a coupled room system shows a non-exponential decay profile. Most of the related researches have been to analyze the acoustic properties of two-room coupled system so far whereas three-room coupled system were seldom studied. In this regard, this paper aims to analyse the distribution of sound pressure level, sound decay curve of three-room coupled system and sound energy flow between them by using the acoustic diffusion model and to further verify them through experiments. Firstly, the sound pressure level distribution and mean sound pressure level in the steady-state condition are analyzed at various frequencies and source locations. Good agreements are observed in both experiments and analysis results. Secondly, two double slope effect quantifiers of sound attenuation, LDT/EDT and LDT/T10 are compared at various frequencies and for different source locations. The result indicates that LDT/T10, less affected by the early reflection patterns than LDT/EDT, is more suitable to the analysis and experiments of a multi-slope sound decay curve. Lastly, the sound energy flow in each room is analyzed based on the acoustic diffusion model. After the early decay stage, the sound energy is observed to flow from the room with a long reverberation time to the room with a short one.

Since blast-induced vibration may cause serious problem to the rock mass as well as the nearby structures, the prediction of blast-induced nitration and the stability evaluation must be performed before blasting activities. Dynamic analysis has been increased recently in order to analyze the effect of the blast-Induced vibration. Most of the previous studies, however, were based on the continuum analysis unable to consider rock joints which significantly affect the wave propagation and attenuation characteristics. They also adopted pressure corves estimated tv theoretical or empirical equations as input detonation load, thus there were very difficult to reflect the characteristics of propagating media. In this study, therefore, we suggested a dynamic distinct element analysis technique which uses velocity waveform obtained from a test blast as an input detonation load. A distinct element program, UDEC was used to consider the effect of rock joints. In order to verify the validity of proposed method, the test blast was simulated. The predicted results from the proposed method showed a good agreement with the measured vibration data from the test blast. Through the dynamic numerical modelling on the planned road tunnel and slope, we evaluated the effect of blast-induced nitration and the stability of rock slope.

The significant additional path loss is caused by scattering, diffraction, and attenuation of propagation. Most of the wave propagation models for rural areas mainly have considered the influence of topography but ignored the effects due to land usage. The goal of this paper is development of the field strength prediction program for Cheju which is used the contour map and the effects due to land usage. In oder to classify the propagation path and divide the environment of land, data of the terrain and the land-cover are formed into a pixel. Two-ray model is transformed into equivalent model by the predicted reflection coefficient and the slope of terrain. For non line of sight, the additional loss is determined by quantitative analysis. The result show good accord and the wave propagation model program can be applied to predicted the service region in rural area of Cheju.

In this paper, various power delay profiles (PDP) are simulated to study the influence of the PDP shape on the bit error rate (BER) performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems. Assuming Rayleigh fading with 16-QAM modulation scheme, the simulation focuses on the investigation of the various shapes of the PDP which are often characterized by peaks, slope, attenuation and distance of an echo profile of waves. This yields information about the properties of the channel, and can be applied to decide the performance of the systems according to the channel.

The purpose of this study is an experimental research to investigate the effectiveness of debris flow reduction structures when a debris flow disaster occurs on a steep slope. The control structure for debris flow took the form of baffle, and the soil deposition area and soil runout distance due to debris flow from the downstream were investigated according to the installation number of baffle and each specification. As the slope of the channel became steeper, the sediment deposition area and runout distance increased, and as the sediment volume concentration decreased, the sediment deposition area and runout distance increased. When the sediment concentration was low, differences appeared depending on the slope of the channel because the debris flow had a high liquid content. Overall, the larger the sediment volume concentration, the greater the decrease in sediment deposition area and soil runout distance. As the number of baffles increases, the soil deposition area and runout decrease, showing that the baffles have the ability to control debris flows. The results of this research will provide good information when installing attenuation or control structures when sediment disasters occur in steep slopes.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether a deep learning reconstruction (DLR) method improves the image quality, stent evaluation, and visibility of the valve apparatus in coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) when compared with filtered back projection (FBP) and hybrid iterative reconstruction (IR) methods. Materials and Methods: CCTA images of 51 patients (mean age ± standard deviation [SD], 63.9 ± 9.8 years, 36 male) who underwent examination at a single institution were reconstructed using DLR, FBP, and hybrid IR methods and reviewed. CT attenuation, image noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), and stent evaluation, including 10%-90% edge rise slope (ERS) and 10%-90% edge rise distance (ERD), were measured. Quantitative data are summarized as the mean ± SD. The subjective visual scores (1 for worst -5 for best) of the images were obtained for the following: overall image quality, image noise, and appearance of stent, vessel, and aortic and tricuspid valve apparatus (annulus, leaflets, papillary muscles, and chordae tendineae). These parameters were compared between the DLR, FBP, and hybrid IR methods. Results: DLR provided higher Hounsfield unit (HU) values in the aorta and similar attenuation in the fat and muscle compared with FBP and hybrid IR. The image noise in HU was significantly lower in DLR (12.6 ± 2.2) than in hybrid IR (24.2 ± 3.0) and FBP (54.2 ± 9.5) (p < 0.001). The SNR and CNR were significantly higher in the DLR group than in the FBP and hybrid IR groups (p < 0.001). In the coronary stent, the mean value of ERS was significantly higher in DLR (1260.4 ± 242.5 HU/mm) than that of FBP (801.9 ± 170.7 HU/mm) and hybrid IR (641.9 ± 112.0 HU/mm). The mean value of ERD was measured as 0.8 ± 0.1 mm for DLR while it was 1.1 ± 0.2 mm for FBP and 1.1 ± 0.2 mm for hybrid IR. The subjective visual scores were higher in the DLR than in the images reconstructed with FBP and hybrid IR. Conclusion: DLR reconstruction provided better images than FBP and hybrid IR reconstruction.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of vasodilators on contrast enhancement and transluminal attenuation gradient (TAG) of coronary arteries at coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed CCTA scans of patients who underwent double-acquisition CCTA; CCTA without a vasodilator, and CCTA during a intravenous (IV) infusion of nitrate. Among them, we enrolled 19 patients who had no significant atherosclerotic lesions or coronary spasms. In the control group, 28 patients were enrolled who showed normal coronary arteries on CCTA, which was acquired by a conventional method (sublingual vasodilator). We measured the TAG and Hounsfield units for each of the three major epicardial coronary arteries (reported as 'ProxHU') and then compared the results between the nitrate administration methods (CT without vasodilator [CTpre], CT with IV vasodilator [CTiv], and CT with sublingual vasodilator [CTsub]). Results: The mean TAG showed a significant difference between the coronary arteries (right coronary artery [RCA] > left anterior descending artery [LAD] > left circumflex artery [LCX], p < 0.05), while there was no difference in ProxHU of each coronary artery in all three types of nitrate administration methods (p > 0.05). The TAG of CTpre group showed steeper slope than those of vasodilator groups (CTiv and CTsub) on LAD and LCX ([LAD: CTpre = -22.1 ± 6.66, CTiv = -16.76 ± 5.78, and CTsub = -16.47 ± 5.78, p = 0.005], [LCX: CTpre = -31.26 ± 17.43, CTiv = -23.74 ± 14.06, and CTsub = -20.94 ± 12.15, p = 0.051]), while that of RCA showed no significant differences (p = 0.600). When comparing proxHU, CTiv showed higher proxHU than that of CTpre or CTsub, especially on LCX (CTpre = 426.7 ± 68.3, CTiv = 467.9 ± 84.9, and CTsub = 404.9 ± 63.3, p = 0.013). ProxHU showed a negative correlation with TAG on all three of methods (r = -0.280, p < 0.001). Conclusion: TAG in CCTA was significantly affected by vasodilator administration. Both TAG and ProxHU of coronary arteries tend to increase with vasodilator administration on CCTA.
In this study, the performance evaluation of a conventional wave resonator at the entrance of a port or a pier against secondary undulation has been performed using 2D hydrodynamic modeling within port. A wave resonator has been designed for the attenuation of the secondary undulation induced by the long-periodic waves. The controlled performance of the wave resonator has been numerically investigated for CGWAVE MODULE of finite-element model of SMS (Surface water Modeling System) based on the elliptic mild-slope wave equation. SMS was verified though the comparisons with analytical solution performed by Ippen and Goda (1963). Also, It was confirmed that a wave resonator of a rectangular model harbor is effective enough to control the secondary undulation when it compares variation of water level with the case of no resonance system. From the above results, amplification phenomenon induced by long-period waves transferred from 1900 sec to 2100 sec when it applied a wave resonator in Busan Gamcheon Port which is a deep-sea. And it was confirmed that a wave resonator of Pohang New Port attenuates largely long-period waves which are within the range of 300 sec induced by long-period motion of the moored ship.
