A Study on the Placeness Formation of Elementary and Secondary School Students in School Libraries (학교도서관에 대한 초·중등 학생의 장소성 형성구조에 관한 연구)

  • School Library is both a space and a place. The difference between space and place is the same as in the difference between house and home. Space may be described in terms of physical shape. Place is concept that formulated by personal experience. The social and cognitive developmental stages of elementary, middle and high school students are different, so the placeness or sense of place may be different. The purpose of this study is to figure out the differences in elementary and secondary school student's formative factors of placeness and examine the process that those factors are connected to the results of the user behavioral intentions through the medium of place attachment, place value perception. The data are collected from 590 students and analyzed by SPSS 19 and AMOS 19. The results of this study are as follows. The physical, active behavioral and psychological factors affect on placeness formation of elementary and secondary school students in school libraries. Elementary school students are significantly affected more by physical factors, active behavioral factors than middle and high school students. This study confirmed the process that those factors are connected to the results of the user behavior through the medium of place attachment, place value perception.

Development and Effectiveness Analysis of Workshop Program for Child Safety Map Making (아동안전지도 제작을 위한 워크숍 프로그램 개발 및 효과분석)

  • Recently, child safety map making education has attracted attention as a way to reduce crimes against children. In Korea, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family organized a child safety map making education program in 2011. The program's manual was revised in 2013 and the Ministry implemented it as a project to promote the rights of women and children. Child safety map making education aims to raise a child's understanding of their neighborhood, to have voluntary control and normal consciousness as a local inhabitant, to be aware of wrong behavior and crime, and to be part of creating a safe urban environment. However, when compared to educational programs in other major developed countries, the child safety map making education program in Korea currently does not improve a child's awareness of their surroundings. In this workshop study, we proposed and ran a new program to improve children's awareness of their environment based on the active participation of children in the existing safety map educational program. The workshop was held for 4 weeks for 48 students from 5th and 6th grade at Osan Daeho Elementary School. We analyzed this new program's effects with the following results. First, an analysis of the effects of the program on children's recognition of safe and dangerous spaces revealed that their understanding of these spaces increased by 30.4% after the workshop. The safety-related factor in the mind map key concept increased from 0.94 to 4.94, indicating that the children's perception of neighborhood risk and safety factors improved. Second, the analysis of the effects of the program on the children's coping ability in dangerous situations showed that their understanding of how to deal with dangerous situations increased by 11.3%. The children's understanding of facilities they could ask for help, such as police boxes and child safety guard houses, improved by 17.9%. Third, analysis of the effects of child safety map making education on children's understanding of their neighborhood, their perception of responsibility in the neighborhood, and their neighborhood attachment showed that these levels of children's understanding of the neighborhood improved by 6.0% after the workshop.

The elderly education in the intelligence information society: centered on "Pan-jo wu-chih lun" of Seng-Zhao (지능정보사회의 노인교육: 승조(僧肇)의 「반야무지론(般若無知論)」을 중심으로)

  • In this study, we examined the direction of the elderly education to improve the quality of life in the intelligence information society on the basis of the wisdom shown in the "Pan-jo wu-chih lun" of Seng-Zhao. The characteristics of the elderly in the intelligence information society are four-fold. First, the elderly show no deterioration in wisdom. Second, they have a lot of leisure time. Third, they are likely not to adapt in a rapidly changing society. Fourth, they are exposed to an economically vulnerable environment. But in the intelligence information society, the elderly cannot avoid death, and it is difficult for them to have insight into their existence due to the egotism, they take the attitude of attaching themselves only to exiting things. The direction of the Elderly Education to solve the problem is as follows: First, "Learning to know that Life-and-Death-and-suffering is temporary" is to make the elderly aware that the coming mind and the disappearing mind for a specific object are temporary and S?nya. Second, "Learning to be while eliminating the egotism" is set them free from the dogmatism that there is the attan. Third, "Learning to do to break the attachment" is to disabuse them of the idea that things will turn out according to their expectation through an awakening and to transforming their behavior.

A Study on the Citation Behavior by Academic Background of Researchers (전문연구자의 학문배경에 따른 인용행태에 관한 연구)

  • Although it has been a long subject of study why researchers prefer some cited documents to others, the existing relative researches have had a variety of perspectives on the nature and complexity of the citation behavior and not provided a complete answer to this question. In particular, Korea researchers mainly used statistical analysis of bibliographic information, which has limitations in revealing dynamic and complex cognitive aspects of the citation process. In this study, I investigate the citer perception of citing motives and bibliographic factors through survey and compared the responses according to the researchers' characteristics. After extracting the 22 motivations and 21 factors through the literature analysis and configuring a 5-point Likert scale questions, I conducted a survey in the wat of an e-mail attachment. From the SPSS 22.0, the frequency analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA were performed on the 354 valid samples. As a result, it is found that supporting is considered the most important citing motive and social connection, self-citation have little influence. In the case of bibliographic factors, the journal's reputation was recognized the most influential factor and the number of pages and authors was the least. Significant differences in fields of study and research careers were showed in some parts. These results can substantiate earlier studies, determine whether the factors assumed influential in selecting references were intended, and suggest the search point to the specialty library or academic database.

An Experimental Study for Flexure/Shear Failure Behavior of Composite Beam with GFRP Plank Used As a Permanent Formwork and Cast-in-place High Strength Concrete (영구거푸집으로 사용한 유리섬유 FRP 판과 현장타설 고강도콘크리트로 이루어진 합성보의 휨/전단파괴거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, an experiment which utilized glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP) plank as the permanent formwork of cast-in-place high strength concrete structures was performed. The GFRP plank currently being produced has smooth surface so that it causes problems in behavior with concrete. Therefore, this research analyzed the flexure/shear failure behavior of composite beams, which used GFRP plank as its permanent formwork and has short shear span ratio, by setting the sand coated at GFRP bottom surface, the perforation and interval of the GFRP plank web, and the width of the top flange as the experimental variables. As a result of the experiments for effectiveness of sand attachment in case of not perforated web, approximately 47% higher ultimate load value was obtained when the sand was coated than not coated case and bending/shear failure mode was observed. For effectiveness of perforation and interval of gap, approximately 24% higher maximum load value was seen when interval of the perforation gap was short and the fine aggregate was not coated, and approximately 25% lower value was observed when the perforation gap was not dense on the coated specimen. For effectiveness of top flange breadth, the ultimate load value was approximately 17% higher in case of 40mm than 20mm width.

An Empirical Study on How the Moderating Effects of Individual Cultural Characteristics towards a Specific Target Affects User Experience: Based on the Survey Results of Four Types of Digital Device Users in the US, Germany, and Russia (특정 대상에 대한 개인 수준의 문화적 성향이 사용자 경험에 미치는 조절효과에 대한 실증적 연구: 미국, 독일, 러시아의 4개 디지털 기기 사용자를 대상으로)

  • Recently, due to the globalization of the IT(Information Technology) market, devices and systems designed in one country are used in other countries as well. This phenomenon is becoming the key factor for increased interest on cross-cultural, or cross-national, research within the IT area. However, as the IT market is becoming bigger and more globalized, a great number of IT practitioners are having difficulty in designing and developing devices or systems which can provide optimal experience. This is because not only tangible factors such as language and a country's economic or industrial power affect the user experience of a certain device or system but also invisible and intangible factors as well. Among such invisible and intangible factors, the cultural characteristics of users from different countries may affect the user experience of certain devices or systems because cultural characteristics affect how they understand and interpret the devices or systems. In other words, when users evaluate the quality of overall user experience, the cultural characteristics of each user act as a perceptual lens that leads the user to focus on a certain elements of experience. Therefore, there is a need within the IT field to consider cultural characteristics when designing or developing certain devices or systems and plan a strategy for localization. In such an environment, existing IS studies identify the culture with the country, emphasize the importance of culture in a national level perspective, and hypothesize that users within the same country have same cultural characteristics. Under such assumptions, these studies focus on the moderating effects of cultural characteristics on a national level within a certain theoretical framework. This has already been suggested by cross-cultural studies conducted by scholars such as Hofstede(1980) in providing numerical research results and measurement items for cultural characteristics and using such results or items as they increase the efficiency of studies. However, such national level culture has its limitations in forecasting and explaining individual-level behaviors such as voluntary device or system usage. This is because individual cultural characteristics are the outcome of not only the national culture but also the culture of a race, company, local area, family, and other groups that are formulated through interaction within the group. Therefore, national or nationally dominant cultural characteristics may have its limitations in forecasting and explaining the cultural characteristics of an individual. Moreover, past studies in psychology suggest a possibility that there exist different cultural characteristics within a single individual depending on the subject being measured or its context. For example, in relation to individual vs. collective characteristics, which is one of the major cultural characteristics, an individual may show collectivistic characteristics when he or she is with family or friends but show individualistic characteristics in his or her workplace. Therefore, this study acknowledged such limitations of past studies and conducted a research within the framework of 'theoretically integrated model of user satisfaction and emotional attachment', which was developed through a former study, on how the effects of different experience elements on emotional attachment or user satisfaction are differentiated depending on the individual cultural characteristics related to a system or device usage. In order to do this, this study hypothesized the moderating effects of four cultural dimensions (uncertainty avoidance, individualism vs, collectivism, masculinity vs. femininity, and power distance) as suggested by Hofstede(1980) within the theoretically integrated model of emotional attachment and user satisfaction. Statistical tests were then implemented on these moderating effects through conducting surveys with users of four digital devices (mobile phone, MP3 player, LCD TV, and refrigerator) in three countries (US, Germany, and Russia). In order to explain and forecast the behavior of personal device or system users, individual cultural characteristics must be measured, and depending on the target device or system, measurements must be measured independently. Through this suggestion, this study hopes to provide new and useful perspectives for future IS research.

EEPROM Charge Sensors (EEPROM을 이용한 전하센서)

  • The devices based on electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) structure are proposed for the detection of external electric charges. A large size charge contact window (CCW) extended from the floating gate is employed to immobilize external charges, and a control gate with stacked metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitor is adapted for a standard single polysilicon CMOS process. When positive voltage is applied to the capacitor of CCW of an n-channel EEPROM, the drain current increases due to the negative shift of its threshold voltage. Also when a pre-charged external capacitor is directly connected to the floating gate metal of CCW, the positive charges of the external capacitor make the drain current increase for n-channel, whereas the negative charges cause it to decrease. For an p-channel, however, the opposite behaviors are observed by the external voltage and charges. With the attachment of external charges to the CCW of EEPROM inverter, the characteristic inverter voltage behavior shifts from the reference curve dependent on external charge polarity. Therefore, we have demonstrated that the EEPROM inverter is capable of detecting external immobilized charges on the floating gate. and these devices are applicable to sensing the pH's or biomolecular reactions.

Analyses on Airbag Sensor Signals by Different Packaging (자동차용 에어백 센서의 패키징 방법에 따른 신호 전달 해석)

  • In this study, a new airbag sensor packaging technique of directly attachment by adhesive to the automobile frame is introduced. To assess the feasibility for the packaging, a test instrument was manufactured to examine the impact sensibility by drop tests. The conventional sensor module attached mechanically by bolts with plastic housing and the new sensor packaging were installed to aluminum channel, and the results were compared with each other. Numerical analysis was also performed to investigate the signal characteristics created by the sensors. The preliminary results showed that the pattern of the MEMS sensor signal was strongly dependent on the structural behavior of the frame where the sensors were installed, which indicated the complexity of the packaging design for proper airbag deployments.

A Comparative Study on Education Needs in Low Birth Weight Infant's Mother at Discharge and after One Month at Home (퇴원시 저출생 체중아 어머니와 퇴원 한 달 후 저출생 체중아 어머니의 간호 교육요구도 비교)

  • This study was designed to compare the education needs in LBW infant's mother at discharge and after one month at home for development of the educational program. The subjects of this study consisted of 61 mothers of LBW infant's at discharge and 51 mothers of LBW infant's after one month at home. They were selected by convenience from 3 general hospitals and 1 pediatric hospital in Seoul, Kangreung and Inchon. The data were collected during the period from January, 5 to March, 15, 2000. The Education Needs for LBW infant Care was measured by Questionnaire that has developed by researchers. The data were analized by descriptive statistics, non-paired t-test & ANOVA using SAS. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The educational need, of the mothers of LBW infant at discharge were higher than the mothers of LBW infant after one month at home(t=8.72, p=.00). 2) There were significant associations between the educational needs of the mothers of LBW infant after one month at home and numbers of children(F=3.61, p=0.03). 3) There were significant associations of the educational needs between the mothers of LBW infant at discharge and the mothers of LBW infant after one month at home in categories and items. (1) There were significant associations by categories such as Infant care(t=8.34, p=.00), feeding(t=6.71, p=.00), unusual behavior (t=6.54, p=.00). Management disorder (t=8.67, p=.00), attachment between parents and infant(t=5.19, p=.00) and environment (t=6.14, p=.00). (2) There were two items that represented the highest educational needs in all items. That were "How about we can do when infant has a breathing disorder" and "How about we can do when infant has a seizure". These two items included Management of disorder category. In Conclusion, when the nurse teaching the method of infant care to mother, educational contents must be included about Management of disorder emphatically.

The Larvae and Juvenile Development of Haddock, Melanogrammus aeglefinus Cultured in Atlantic Canada (Atlantic Canada 해산어 Haddock, Melanogrammus aeglefinus의 자치어 발생 단계)

  • The larvae and juvenile development of haddock Melanogrammus aeglefinus which is significant commercial fish living north Atlantic Ocean are described here. Larvae were reared in laboratory and sampled periodically for developmental study until 67 days after hatching. An increase in total length(TL) of fish indicated continuous growth, described by the growth expression Y=4.07 $e^{0.037}$( $R^{2}$=0.9978). The newly hatched pre-larvae was 4.9 mm in TL with ellipsoid yolk. In 16 days after hatching, larvae attained 6.8 mm in TL, and absorbed the yolk completely to become post-larval stage, but first heterotrophic food could be in 7 days after hatching already. Post-larval stage continued during 16~52 days after hatching with development of organs attachment. In 61 days after hatching with 41.3 mm in TL, the fries became a juvenile stage respectively having small teed lateral line, and a black blotch on the flank same as adults, but chin barbel was not developed yet. It was presumed that haddock changed food and ecological behavior after metamorphosis ken this time.e.
