A novel 3D mathematical model for water film runback and icing on a rotating surface is established in this work, where both inertial forces caused by the rotation and shear forces due to the air flow are taken into account. The mathematical model of the water film runback and energy conservation of phase transition process is established, with a cyclical average method applied to simulate the unsteady parameters variation at angles of attack. Ice accretion on a conical spinner surface is simulated and the results are compared with the experimental data to validate the presented model. Then Ice accretion on a cowling surface is numerically investigated. Results show that a higher temperature would correspond to a larger runback ice area and thinner ice layer for glaze ice. Rotation would enhance the icing process, while it would not significantly affect the droplet collection efficiency for an axi-symmetric surface. In the case at angle of attack, the effect of rotation on ice shape is appreciable, ice would present a symmetric shape, while in a stationary case the shape is asymmetric.

We propose a new approach to accommodate bidirectional asymmetric traffic demands as well as unexpected dynamic internet traffic variation in the WDM mesh network by using optical networking technologies. In the proposed scheme, an intermediate node determines the optical path based on the switching statistics of IP router of the node which characterizes the Internet traffic variation, which in effect provides a dynamic and distributed traffic control over the network. It is expected to reduce the efficiency deterioration of RWA(Routing and Wavelength Assignment) due to the real-time variation of Internet traffic so that expandability and flexibility of the network can be enhanced. In this paper, we describe a methodology for traffic behavior analysis at a node, and the decision policy of the establishment/release of optical path. In addition, we evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme through the computer simulations.
The performance of Li-ion hybrid supercapacitors (asymmetric-type) depends on many factors such as the capacity ratio, material properties, cell designs and operating conditions. Among these, in consideration of balanced electrochemical reactions, the capacity ratio of the negative (anode) to positive (cathode) electrode is one of the most important factors to design the Li-ion hybrid supercapacitors for high energy storing performance. We assemble Li-ion hybrid supercapacitors using activated carbon (AC) as anode material, lithium manganese oxide as cathode material, and organic electrolyte (1 mol L-1 LiPF6 in acetonitrile). At this point, the thickness of the anode electrode is controlled at 160, 200, and 240 ㎛. Also, thickness of cathode electrode is fixed at 60 ㎛. Then, the effect of negative and positive electrode ratio on the electrochemical performance of AC/LiMn2O4 Li-ion hybrid supercapacitors is investigated, especially in the terms of capacity and cyclability at high current density. In this study, we demonstrate the relationship of capacity ratio between anode and cathode electrode, and the excellent electrochemical performance of AC/LiMn2O4 Li-ion hybrid supercapacitors. The remarkable capability of these materials proves that manipulation of the capacity ratio is a promising technology for high-performance Li-ion hybrid supercapacitors.
The structural aesthetics of architecture are becoming an inspirational source for many fashion designers and have been reborn in structural fashion. This study planned to analyze the method of expression of structural aesthetics expressed in modern structural fashion design and the construction method to maximize such an effect on the basis of the construction characteristic of Santiago Calatrava as the representative architect of the structural aesthetic. According to the study, the structural aesthetics expressed in modern structural fashion design are as follows: 1) The symbolical formative aesthetic expressed by symbolical inference and analyzation; 2) the dynamic beauty of physic expressed by visual emphasis and dynamics; and 3) the asymmetric beauty of symmetry expressed by metastasis toward the boundary between balance and imbalance. In addition, to maximize structural aesthetics, we used repetition and a progressive technique based on rhythm, asymmetry, and incision-based variances, such as balance, polygon flux, and inference, and analyzation-based distortion as the structuring principle. The following expression methods for maximizing structural aesthetics were found: 1) symbolical and structural exaggeration of appearance; 2) detail technique expansion and material property diversification; and 3) the three-dimensional transformation of structure and shell expression. Structural fashion design was found to have maximized structural aesthetics by using such expression methods to secure artistic esthetics, destroy existing shapes and patterns, and create unique shapes.

The micro-porous asymmetric PVDF hollow fiber membranes for gas-liquid contactor were prepared by the dry-jet wet phase inversion process and the characteristics of hollow fiber membranes were evaluated by the gas permeation method and scanning electron microscope. The chemical absorbent for removal of $SO_2$ gas was sodium hydroxide at bench scale hollow fiber membrane contactor. The experiments were performed in a counter-current mode of operation with gas in the shell side and liquid in the fiber lumen of the module to examine the effect of various operating variables such as concentration of absorbent, gas flow rate, L/G ratio and concentration of inlet $SO_2$ gas on the $SO_2$ removal efficiency using PVDF hollow fiber membrane contactor. Membrane mass transfer coefficient($k_m$) was calculated by mathematical modeling. The volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing the concentration of absorbent and L/G ratio. The increase of the absorbent concentration and L/G ratio not only provides more sufficient alkalinity but also decreases liquid phase resistance. The volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing gas flow rate due to decreasing the gas phase resistance.

A self-centering energy-dissipative(SCED) bracing system has recently been developed as a new seismic force resistant bracing system. The advantage of the SCED brace system is that, unlike other comparable advanced bracing systems that dissipate energy such as the buckling restrained brace(BRB) system, it has a self-centering capability that reduces or eliminates residual building deformations after major seismic events. In order to investigate the effects of torsion on the SCED brace and BRB systems, nonlinear time history analyses were used to compare the responses of 3D model structures with three different amounts of frame eccentricity. The results of the analysis showed that the interstory drifts of SCED braced frames are more uniform than those of BRB frames, without regard to irregularity. The residual drift and residual rotation responses tended to decrease as irregularity increased. For medium-rise structures, the drift concentration factors(DCFs) for SCED systems were lower than those for BRB frames. This means that SCED-braced frames deform in a more uniform manner with respect to building height. The effect of the torsional irregularity on the magnitude of the DCFs was small.
The cysteine 43, potentially important in the activity of O-acetylserine sulfhydrylase (OASS) from Salmonella typhimurium, has been changed to serine. This mutant enzyme (C43S) has been studied in order to gain insight into the structural basis for the binding of inhibitor, substrate and product. UV-visible spectra of C43S exhibit the same spectral change in the presence of OAS as that observed with wild type enzyme, indicating C43S will form an ${\alpha}$-aminoacrylate Schiff base intermediate. At pH 6.5, however, the deacetylase activity of C43S is much higher than wild type enzyme indicating that cysteine 43 plays a role in stabilizing the ${\alpha}$-aminoacrylate intermediate. The fluoroscence spectrum of C43S exhibits a ratio of emission at 340 to 502 nm of 16.9, reflecting the lower fluorescence of PLP and indicating that the orientation of cofactor and tryptophan are different from that of the wild type enzyme. The emission spectrum of C43S in the presence of OAS gives two maxima at 340 and 535 nm. The 535 nm emission is attributed to the fluoroscence of the ${\alpha}$-aminoacrylate intermediate. The visible circular dichroic spectrum was similar to wild type enzyme, but the negative effect observed at 530~550 nm and the molar ellipicity values for the mutant are decreased by about 50% compared to wild type enzyme. The circular dichroic and fluoroscence studies suggest binding of the cofactor is less asymmetric in C43S than in the wild type enzyme.
Two novel coordination compounds $[Cu_2(pypya)_3(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}Cl{\cdot}(H_2O)_5$ (1) and $\{[Cd(pypya)(ta)_{1/2}]{\cdot}H_2O\}_n$ (2) (Hpypya=2-(3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)acetic acid, $H_2ta$=terephthalic acid) were synthesized and characterized by single X-ray diffraction. Structure determination reveals that complex 1 and complex 2 crystallize in the triclinic system, with the P-1 space group. The asymmetric unit of 1 contains two Cu(II) ions, and their coordination modes are different. These units of complex 1 are linked together via hydrogen bonds and ${\pi}-{\pi}$ interactions, and the 3D structure of complex 1 was formed. Complex 2, a mononuclear Cd(II) coordination compound, has a 2D structure which was constructed via coordination bonds. TGA and fluorescence spectra analysis of complex 1 and complex 2 have also been studied. In addition, the geometry parameters of complex 1 have been optimized with the B3LYP method of density functional theory (DFT) to explain its coordination behavior. The electronic properties of the complex 1 and ligand Hpypya have been investigated based on the nature bond orbital (NBO) analysis at the B3LYP level of theory. The result verifies that the synergistic effect have occurred in the compound.
Behavior of loop seal formation and clearing during small break loss of coolant accident is investigated using the RELAP5/MOD 2 and /MOD3 codes with the test of SB-CL-18 of the LSIF (Large Scale Test Facility). The present study examines the thermal-hydraulic mechanisms responsible for early core uncovery including the manometric effect due to an asymmetric coolant holdup in the steam generator upflow and downflow side. The analysis with the RELAP5/MOD2 demonstrates the main phenomena occuring in the depressurization transient including the loop seal formation and clearing with sufficient accuracy. Nevertheless, several differences regarding the evolution of phenomena and their timing have been pointed out in かe base calculations. The RELAP5/MOD3 predicts overall phenomena, particularly the steam generator liquid holdup better than the RELAP5/MOD2. The nodalization study in the components of the steam generator U-tubes and the cross-over legs wiか the RELAP5/MOD3 results in good prediction of the loop seal clearing phenomena and their timing.
