TiN 박막의 미세조직 및 밀착력에 미치는 입사이온빔 에너지의 효과 (Effect of Incident Ion Beam Energy on Microstructure and Adhesion Behavior of TiN Thin Films)

  • Effect of incident ion beam energy on microstructure and adhesion behavior of TiN thin films were studied. Without ion beam assist, TiN film showed (111) growth mode which was thought to have the lowest deformation energy. As the ion beam assist energy increased, TiN film growth mode was changed from (111) to (200) mode. On the Si(100) substrate the critical incident energy for growth mode change was 100 eV/atom, however the critical assist energy was 121 eV/atom on the STD61 substrate. Grain size of TiN films increased with the assist ion beam energy. Finally, adhesion strength of TiN films bombarded above the critical ion assist energy showed 4~5 times higher values than that with lower bombard ion energy.

Operation Algorithm for a Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle with a Relatively Small Electric Motor

  • In this paper, operation algorithms for a parallel HEV equipped with a relatively small motor are investigated. For the HEV, the power assist and the equivalent fuel algorithms are proposed. In the power assist algorithm, an electric motor is used to assist the engine which provides the primary power source. Tn the equivalent fuel algorithm, the electric energy stored in the battery is considered to be an equivalent fuel, and an equivalent brake specific fuel consumption for the electric energy is proposed. From the equivalent fuel algorithm, distribution of the engine power and the motor power is determined to minimize the fuel consumption for a given battery state of charge (SOC) and a required vehicle power. It is found from the simulation results that the fuel economy and the final battery SOC depend on the motor discharge energy and it is the best way to charge the battery only by the regenerative braking, not by the engine to improve the overall fuel efficiency of the HEV with the relatively small motor.

행성 근접 통과를 이용한 목성 탐사선의 최적 발사 시기 (LAUNCH OPPORTUNITIES FOR JUPITER MISSIONS USING THE GRAVITY ASSIST)

  • 향후 우리나라의 행성 탐사 임무에 대비하여 행성 근접 통과를 이용한 목성 탐사 임무의 최적 발사 가능 시기에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 관련 비행 궤적을 설계할 수 있는 자체적인 프로그램을 개발하였으며 일련의 과정을 통해 그 성능을 검증하였다. 목성까지의 비행 궤적 중 직행 임무(Direct mission), 단일 행성 근접 통과를 이용한 임무(Single planet gravity assist mission) 그리고 복수 행성 근접 통과를 이용한 임무(Multi planet gravity assist mission)에 대한 비행 궤적을 각각 설계하였으며 이에 대한 최적의 발사시기를 선정하였다. 목성 탐사 비행 궤적 중, 지구-화성-지구-목성의 비행 궤적 (Earth-Mars-Earth-Jupiter Gravity Assist, EMEJGA Trajectory)을 갖는 복수 행성 근접 통과 임무가 약 29.231$Km^2$/$S^2$의 발사 에너지($C_3$)값을 필요로 하였으며 이는 직행 임무의 발사 에너지($C_3$)값 75.756$\textrm{km}^2$/s$^2$및 화성 근접 통과만을 고려한 단일 행성 근접 통과 임무의 발사 에너지($C_3$)값 63.590$Km^2$/$S^2$보다 현저하게 낮은 수치이다. 이러한 결과는 행성간 탐사선의 비행 궤적 설계 시 행성 근접 통과를 고려하였을 경우 발사 에너지의 절감 효과 및 한번의 발사로 하나 이상의 행성의 탐사가 가능함으로 임무의 효율성을 증대시킬 수 있다는 사실을 보여 주고 있다. 또한 복수 행성 근접 통과를 이용하였을 경우 요구되는 총 임무 기간은 약 4.6년으로 직행 혹은 단일 행성 근접 통과를 이용하였을 경우(각 약2.98년 및 약2.33년의 총 임무 기간)에 비해 임무 기간이 길어지는 단점이 있음을 확인 시켜 주고 있다.

A Novel System with EMG-controlled FES Enhanced Gait Function and Energy Expenditure for Older Adults

  • Objective: This study was conducted to analyze the effect of wearable Electromyography-controlled functional electrical stimulation (EMG-controlled FES) System on Gait Function and cardiopulmonary metabolic efficiency during walking in older adults. Design: Cross-section study Methods: Total 22 older adult participants suitable to selection criteria of this study participated in this study. The EMG-controlled FES System, which functions as a wearable physical activity assist FES system was used. All participations performed randomly assigned two conditions (Non-FES assist [NFA], FES assist [FA]) of walking. In all conditions, spatio-temporal parameters and kinematics and kinetics parameters during walking was collected via 3D motion capture system and 6 minutes walking test (6MWT) and metabolic cost during walking and stairs climbing was collected via a portable metabolic device (COSMED K5, COSMED Srl, Roma, Italy). Results: In Spatio-temporal parameters aspects, The EMG-controlled FES system significantly improved gait functions measurements of older adults with sarcopenia at walking in comparison to the NFA condition (P<0.05). Hip, knee and ankle joint range of motion increased at walking in FA condition compared to the NFA condition (P<0.05). In the FA condition, moment and ground reaction force was changed like normal gait during walking of older adults in comparison to the NFA condition (P<0.05). The EMG-controlled FES system significantly reduced net cardiopulmonary metabolic energy cost, net energy expenditure measurement at stairs climbing (P<0.05). Conclusions: This study demonstrated that EMG-controlled FES is a potentially useful gait-assist system for improving gait function by making joint range of motion and moment properly.

Red Organic Light-emitting Diodes utilizing Energy Transfer and Charge Trapping

  • We report the efficient red light-emitting diodes based on the fluorescent dye 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-i-propyl-6-(1,1,7,7-tetramethyljulolidyl-9-enyl)-4H-pyran (DCJTI) and 5,6,11,12-tetraphenyl naphthacene (rubrene) codoped in the tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum $(Alq_3)$. Luminance efficiency of 2.2 cd/A with a Commission International De L'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinate of x, y = (0.640, 0:350) are achieved at the driving current density of $20\;mA/cm^2$. Adding the rubrene to the DCJTI in tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum $(Alq_3)$, the red color purity and luminance efficiency improved comparing to the DCJTI only doped devices because the rubrene molecules assist the polarization effect of DCJTI by molecular interaction and enhance the energy transfer from $(Alq_3)$ to DCJTI.

레이저를 이용한 박강판의 절단특성 (Laser Cutting Characteristics of Cold Rolled Steel Sheets)

  • This study deals with the quality and the optimum range of laser cutting process. Cold rolled steel sheets for automobile application were cut by a high power CO$_{2}$ laser system with beam quality of TEM$_{\infty}$ mode. Both process parameters such as travel speed and assist gas pressure, and quality factors were considered to optimize the laser cutting. It was revealed that the thinner the sheet thickness, the less effect of oxidation energy for contributing the cutting process. High speed photographs demonstrated that molten spot on the cut surface moved in a random and vigorous manner according to its viscosity and the flowing direction of assist gas, which resulted in so called striation. Laser cutting produced a very smooth surface of average roughness(Ra) about less than 1.5.mu.m at the optimum range. It was also shown that the characteristics of dross formation was influenced by the flowing durection of assist gas and the fluidity of molten metal drop..

  • In this paper, we present a control method of mobile power assist systems. Most of mobile power assist systems have a heavy base for preventing easy tumbling, so continual movement of the base during operations causes high energy consumption and gives the high risk of human injury. Furthermore, the slow dynamics of the base limits the frequency bandwidth of the whole system. Thus we propose a cooperation control method of the mobile base and manipulator, which removes the unnecessary movements of the base. In our scheme, the mobile base does not move until the center of gravity(C.G) of the system goes outside a safety region. When C.G. reaches the boundary of the safety region, the base starts moving to recover the manipulator's initial configuration. By varying the parameters of a human impedance controller, the operator is warned by a force feedback that C.G. is on the marginal safety region. Our scheme is implemented by assigning a nonlinear mass-damper-spring impedance to the tip of the manipulator. 마이크로 가스터빈 시험 장치 개발 (Development of Test Facility for Micro Gas Turbine)

  • To improve the core technology of the micro gas turbine, the performance test facility was developed. This paper is focusing on the explanation of the characteristics of micro gas turbine and its assist devices. Major part of micro gas turbine were radial type of compressor, annular type of combustor, radial type of turbine, thrust foil bearing, radial foil bearing and generator. The assist devices were consist of exhaust duct, inverter, data acquisition system, load bank and test cell. Before building up the test facility, the component test was previously conducted to confirm the component performance. After the test facility was prepared, the motoring test was conducted to investigate the rotor dynamic characteristics of the micro gas turbine. Also, the part load performance test was performed. With a developed micro gas turbine test facility, the improved core technology about the micro gas turbine can be suggested to the related industries.

ENERGY ANALYSIS UTILIZING BIM FOR ZERO NET ENERGY TEST HOME

  • This paper presents the results of a theoretical energy analysis of a research test bed called the Zero Net Energy Test House (ZNETH) in Omaha, Nebraska in U.S.A. The ZNETH project is being designed and built with the goal of consuming a negligible amount of energy by offsetting remaining usage after energy conservation. The theoretically consumed and generated energy levels were analyzed using energy modeling software programs. By integrating a highly graphical and intuitive analysis with a Building Information Model(BIM) of the house, this investigation introduces strategies to include sustainable materials and systems to predict energy generation with a case study of ZNETH. In addition, this paper introduces parametric analyses for better envelope design and construction material selection by analyzing simulated energy consumption with various parametric inputs, e.g., material types, location, and size. It was found that the current design of ZNETH does not meet its goal of zero net energy. Sugeestions are presented to assist ZHETH in meeting its net zero energy goal.

  • The field-surveyed and measured energy consumption data is processed to develop building energy demand models for heating, hot water, cooling, and electricity. The load models are systematically organized as a database and hourly loads for a span of year (8760 hours) are generated by the program. Rased on those models a Microsoft Access application program is developed to calculate energy demands for a Community Energy System (CES) composed of 17 types of buildings. User-friendly interfaces are provided to assist non-expert end users and necessary tools to link the calculation results to subsequent coagulations such as operation simulation or economic assessment.
