  • This paper is concerned with a vehicle routing model to assist in scheduling palletized cargo pickup and delivery so called the pickup and delivery problem with advance requests in a 2-echelon supply-chain system. In this study vehicles is dispatched and routed so that each request is picked up or delivered at its original and to its destination. The model provides point-to-point transportations based on advance requests. The assignment algorithm is developed and designed for using with on-line computers and it immediately provides arrangements to be made at the time requested. This algorithm also provides the best scheduling solutions and alternatives for both to system operators and requesters. According to this algorithm, we developed computer programs and show the sample results.

  • This paper presents an explicit pole-assignment adaptive servocontrol shceme and its application to cutting force regulation for feedrate maximization. The controller structure of the suggested adaptive control scheme is based on robust control theory. This controller structure is then combined with an on-line model estimation algorithm. The whole scheme is applied to a milling process control. The results of real time cutting experimental studies show that the asymptotic regulation of milling peak cutting forces can be achieved with robust- ness against the time varying perturbations to the process model parameters, which are caused by nonlinear cutting dynamics.

  • This paper demonstrates that an improved hybrid neural-genetic multimodel parameter estimation algorithm can be applied to the structured system identification of an electro-hydraulic servo system. This algorithm is consists of a recurrent incremental credit assignment (ICRA) neural network and a genetic algorithm, The ICRA neural network evaluates each member of a generation of model and the genetic algorithm produces new generation of model. We manufactured an electro-hydraulic servo system and the improved hybrid neural-genetic multimodel parameter estimation algorithm is applied to the task to find the parameter values, such as mass, damping coefficient, bulk modulus, spring coefficient and disturbance, which minimize total square error.

  • This paper considers a trade-off effect between in-house storage space and leased storage space in generic warehouses operated under a randomized storage assignment policy. The amount of in-house storage space is determined based on the law of large numbers satisfying a given service level of protection against space shortages. Excess space requirement is assumed to be met via leased storage space. A new analytic model is formulated for determining the excess space such that the total cost of storage space is minimized. Finally, computational results are provided for the systems where the standard economic-order-quantity inventory model is used for all items.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of bandwidth sharing among multiple primary users and multiple secondary users in a cognitive radio network. In cognitive radio networks, effective spectrum assignment for primary and secondary users is a challenge due to the available broad range of radio frequency spectrum as well as the requisition of harmonious coexistence of both users. To handle this problem, firstly, Bertrand game model is used to analyze a spectrum pricing in which multiple primary users emulate with each other to acquire maximal profit. After that, we employ Cournot game to model the spectrum sharing of secondary users to obtain optimal profit for each user also. Simulation results show that our scheme obtains optimal solution at Nash equilibrium.

  • In this paper, an iterative MAP approach using a Bayesian model based on the lognormal distribution for image intensity and a GRF for image texture is proposed for despeckling the SAR images that are corrupted by multiplicative speckle noise. When the image intensity is logarithmically transformed, the speckle noise is approximately Gaussian additive noise, and it tends to a normal probability much faster than the intensity distribution. The MRF is incorporated into digital image analysis by viewing pixel type s as states of molecules in a lattice-like physical system defined on a GRF. Because of the MRFGRF equivalence, the assignment of an energy function to the physical system determines its Gibbs measure, which is used to model molecular mteractions. The proposed adaptive iterative method was evaluated using simulation data generated by the Monte Carlo method. In the extensive experiments of this study, the proposed method demonstrated the capability to relax speckle noise and estimate noise-free intensity.

On The Performance of A Suboptimal Assignment Policy in N-Queue m-Server System

  • Consider N queues without arrivals and with m identical servers. All jobs are independent and service requirements of jobs in a queue are i.i.d. random variables. At any time only one server may be assigned to a queue and switching between queues are allowed. A unit cost is imposed per job per unit time. The objective is to minimized the expected total cost. An flow approximation model is considered and an upperbound for the percentage error of best nonswitching policies to an optimal policy is found. It is shown that the best nonswitching policy is not worse than $11\%$ of an optimal policy For the stochastic model, we consider the case in which the service requirements of all jobs are i.i.d. with an exponential distribution. A longest first policy is shown to be optimal and a worst case analysis shows that the nonswitching policy which starts with the longest queues is not worse than $11\%$ of the optimal policy.

  • In this paper, a linear controller is designed for the longitudinal model of X-33 in TAEM (The Terminal Area Energy Management) phase. The CRA (Characteristic Ratio Assignment) is used as the continuous time design method such that the output response of X-33 control system tracks the reference command. The performance of the proposed controller is evaluated through the step response. Also simulation results show that the initial state of the plant is dominantly affected by the poles and zeros of the plant.

Experimental Performance Evaluation of BACnet MS/TP Protocol

  • BACnet is a standard data communication protocol especially designed for building automation and control networks. BACnet uses the Master-Slave/Token-Passing (MS/TP) protocol as one of its field-level networks. In this study, the performance of the BACnet MS/TP protocol is evaluated using an experimental model. The network performance is investigated and evaluated in terms of token rotation time and round trip time. The experimental results show that the performance of the MS/TP network is heavily influenced by the network traffic load, the assignment of MS/TP node address and the network configuration parameter called $N_{max_info-frames}$. Based on the experimental results, simple practical designing guidelines for BACnet MS/TP network systems are also proposed.

  • In these days, rail container service is being more important because it has relatively simple network. In addition, small lot sizes of shipment, frequent shipment, and demand for flexible service are important characteristics in rail container transportation. Efficient container operation at terminals is important in reducing transportation costs and load/unload time. This paper describes the assigning track of freight trains in the railway freight terminal. The paper addresses the operational requirements and facility restrictions to construct a mathematical model for track assignment. In addition, it suggests several types of objectives for the model.
