Artificial graphite generally manufactured by carbonization sintering of shape-body of kneaded mixture using granular cokes as filler and pitch as binder, going through pitch impregnation process if necessary and finally applying graphitization heat treatment. Graphite materials are used for core internal structural components of the High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactors (HTGR) because of their excellent heat resistibility and resistance of crack progress. The HTGR has a core consisting of an array of stacked graphite fuel blocks are machined from IG-110, a high-strength, fine-grained isotropic graphite. In this study, crack stabilization and micro-structures were measured by bend strength and fracture toughness of isotropic graphite grade IG-110. It is important to the reactor designer as they may govern the life of the graphite components and hence the life of the reactor. It was resulted crack propagation, bend strength, compressive strength and micro-structures of IG-110 graphite by scanning electron microscope and universal test machine.
This paper is proposed artificial neural network(ANN) rotor resistance estimation of induction motor drive controlled by multi-adaptive fuzzy learning controller(AFLC). A simple double layer feedforward ANN trained by the back-propagation technique is employed in the rotor resistance identification. In this estimator, double models of the state variable estimations are used; one provides the actual induction motor output states and the other gives the ANN model output states. The total error between the desired and actual state variables is then back propagated to adjust the weights of the ANN model, so that the output of this model tracks the actual output. When the training is completed, the weights of the ANN correspond to the parameters in the actual motor. The estimation and control performance of ANN and multi-AFLC is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of this controller.
Traditionally, intake noise from internal combustion engine has not recevied much attention compared to exhaust noise. But nowadays, intake noise is a major contributing factor to automotive passenger compartment noise levels. The main objective of this paper is to identify the mechanism of generation, propagation and radiation of the intake noise. With a simplest geometric model, one of the main noise sources for the intake stroke is found to be the pressure surge, which is generated after intake valve closing. The pressure surge, which has the nonlinear acoustic behavior, propagates and radiates with relatively large amplitude. In this paper, unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equations are employed for the intake stroke of axisymmetric model having a single moving cylinder and a single moving intake valve. To simulate the periodic motion of the piston and the valve, unsteady deforming mesh algorithm is employed and Thompson's non-reflecting boundary condition is applied to the radiation field. In order to resolve the small amplitude waves at the radiation field, essentially non-oscillatory(ENO) schemes with an artificial compression method (ACM) are used.

Optimal culture conditions for efficient in vitro propagation and polysaccharide production of Orostachys japonicus were established. O. japonicus was cultured in media containing various growth regulators and carbon sources. The highest regeneration rate was achieved in 1.0 and $3.0\;mg\;l\;^{-1}$ of 2,4-D concentration, while the lowest was obtained in $10.0\;mg\;l\;^{-1}$ 2,4-D concentration. When different carbone sources were added in the culture medium, plant growth was high in 3% sucrose treatment. The micropropagated shoots were successfully acclimatized in artificial soils and produced comparable amont of polysaccharide compred to parent cultivated plants.
This paper presents an emotion recognition and its expression system of an intelligent robot like a home robot or a service robot. Emotion recognition method in the robot is used by a facial image. We use a motion and a position of many facial features. apply a tracking algorithm to recognize a moving user in the mobile robot and eliminate a skin color of a hand and a background without a facial region by using the facial region detecting algorithm in objecting user image. After normalizer operations are the image enlarge or reduction by distance of the detecting facial region and the image revolution transformation by an angel of a face, the mobile robot can object the facial image of a fixing size. And materialize a multi feature selection algorithm to enable robot to recognize an emotion of user. In this paper, used a multi layer perceptron of Artificial Neural Network(ANN) as a pattern recognition art, and a Back Propagation(BP) algorithm as a learning algorithm. Emotion of user that robot recognized is expressed as a graphic LCD. At this time, change two coordinates as the number of times of emotion expressed in ANN, and change a parameter of facial elements(eyes, eyebrows, mouth) as the change of two coordinates. By materializing the system, expressed the complex emotion of human as the avatar of LCD.
The trumpet shell Charonia sauliae is an endangered and valuable species with potential for aquaculture. For artificial propagation of C. sauliae, the effects of three different food microalgae on the development, growth, and survival rate of the larvae and spat were investigated. For the larval feeding experiments, we utilized six microalgae species as food sources, namely Pavlova lutheri, Tetraselmis suecica, Nannochloris oculata, Isochrysis galbana, Chaetoceros calcitrans, and Phaeodactylum tricornutum; for the larval and spat growth and survival experiments, we utilized T. suecica, C. calcitrans, and P. tricornutum. The results showed that the temporal digestion index (TDI) for the veliger larvae was significantly different for C. sauliae fed the different microalgae species (p < 0.05), that the T. suecica, C. calcitrans, and P. tricornutum cultivars were better suited for larval consumption (p < 0.05), and that the growth and survival of the larvae and spat were significantly influenced by food type, specifically P. tricornutum (p < 0.05). Further research is needed to evaluate the effects of other microalgae species, different algal concentrations, and biochemical composition on the growth and survival of C. sauliae.

An efficient method for in vitro propagation of the medicinal plant Hovenia duleis, was established. Plantlets for micropropagation of H. dulcis were obtained from in vitro germinated seeds. The effectiveness of various levels of cytokinins (BAP, Kinetin and TDZ) on multiple shoot formation from stem nodes was tested. BAP (1.0 mg/L) treatment induced highest number of multiple shoots. The growth pattern of plantlet on various culture media was undertaken. The shoot elongation was optimal on 2MS basal medium without growth regulators. The in vitro rooting ability of H. dulcis shoots was examined with two-auxins IAA and IBA. The IAA (1.0 mg/L) treatments induced earliest rooting with maximum number of roots and root growth. Rooted shoots were transferred directly to small pots with artificial soil and such established plant exhibited a normal growth pattern similar to wild plantlet.
Impact-echo test, a kind of simple and economical method to evaluate the integrity of drilled piles has some limitations to use because the stress wave can be generated only on the head of a pile and the wave propagation in the pile with surrounding soils are very complicated. Numerical analyses and model tests in the laboratory have shown that both the ratio of length to diameter of a pile and the stiffness ratio of pile to soil have influence on the resolution of testing results. Full scale testing piles which have artificial defects were used to verify the capability of impact-echo technique as a tool for the pile integrity evaluation. Behaviour of the reflected signal of stress wave was investigated according to the type of defects. Elastic modulus of the pile was calculated using the wave velocity in the pile and the unconfined strength of concrete specimen. Influences of the stiffness difference between the pile and the ground on the characteristics of a wave signal were also examined.
A knowledge based expert system is a computer program that emulates the reasoning process of a human expert in a specific problem domain. This paper presents an expert system to diagnose the various faults in power system. The developed expert system is represented considering two points; the possibility of solution and the fast processing speed. As uncertainties exist in the facts and rules which comprise the knowledge base of the expert system, Certainty Factor, which is based on the confirmation theory is used for the inexact reasoning. Also, as the diagnosis problem requires the inductive reasoning process in nature, the solution is imperfect and not unique in general. So the expert system is designed to generate all the possible hypothesis in order of the possibility and also it can explain the propagation procedure of the faults for each solution using the built in backtracking mechanism. In realization of the expert system, the processing speed is greatly dependent upon the problem representation, reasoning scheme and search strategy. So, in this paper the fault diagnosis problem itself is analysed from the view point of Artificial Intelligence and as a result, the expert system has the following basic features. 1) The certainty factor is adopted in the inference engine for inexact reasoning. 2) Problem apace is represented using the problem reduction technique. 3) Bidirectional reasoning scheme is used. 4) Best first search strategy is adopted for rapid processing. The expert system was developed us ing PROLOG language.
