The occurrence of detrimental substances in the paper machine leads to reduced economic performance of paper mills through reduced capacities due to increased paper breaks and cleaning times. In this article the latest generation of BASF's laser optical pitch particle counter is employed in the examination of a paper mill operating two paper machines and using a mixture of thermo-mechanical pulp and recycled fibres. The potential of the new instrument to differentiate between particles on the basis of size and chemical composition is discussed. In addition, direct evidence of the periodic and locational variation of detrimental substances in the paper machine is given. Finally, an example of the application of BASF's laser optical pitch particle counter in the selection of a suitable fixative system for a complex furnish is presented.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual condition of the plan of middle schools in the rural area. Recently, many middle schools are remodeling the buildings and facilities based on the department system. This study, through analyzing on 3 cases of middle school in korea and japan. This article discuses about the basic characteristics of the plan composition and the education programs of 3 middle schools. The results of this study are summarized as follows; Home room and home base should be more faithfully. Various common space is needed to comfortable school life of students. In case of side corridor type plane, moving path is much needed. Most of them take horizontal zoning system in the department system of middle schools. Media space is very important to enhance the characteristics of each subject zone.

Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is a method to analyze the data from the experimental designs comparing two or more groups or treatments at the same time, and is the most effective tool of analyzing more complex data sets with different source of variations. This article describes the logic of ANOVA, the application of the method to the analysis of a simple data set, and the methods available for performing planned or post hoc multiple comparisons between the treatments means. In addition, the common misuse of the techniques is also discussed to emphasize that an inappropriate statistical analysis is potentially far more harmful than poorly conducted research. Lastly, an example is given for illustration purposes.

Recently, interest has heightened over 'critical infrastructures' and their reliability in the face of potential terrorist attack. Assault on any of the critical infrastructures as transportation, power, water, telecommunications, and financial services, entails great consequences for their users as well as the other interdependent critical infrastructures. How to protect our vital critical infrastructures is the key question in this paper. The purpose of this article is to suggest the implications for crisis and emergency management to protect the critical infrastructures in our society. For achieving the purpose, we examined the concept of comprehensive security, national crisis, and critical infrastructure and, using the holistic approach, we examined the comprehensive emergency management for suggesting the implications for establishing the critical infrastructure protection system; building up the high reliability organization, organizing and partnering, assessing the risk, preparing first responders, working with private owners of critical infrastructures, working with communities, improving the administrative capacity.

The increase of health care expenditure for Thai worker calls for the need of workplace health promotion. The purpose of this article is to describe the status of workplace health promotion in Thailand, emphasizing the roles of occupational health nurse. Secondary data analysis and extensive literature reviews were conducted. Results showed that Thailand is committed with implementing health promotion concepts in various settings including workplace. Several public organizations have developed national workplace health projects with different strategies and approaches. Role of occupational health nurses in workplace health promotion has gradually expanded. The new law specifying the functions of occupational health nurse in providing comprehensive health services is in the process. Occupational health nursing standard as related to workplace health promotion has been developed. A research based case study on workplace health promotion program is also presented to elaborate the proactive roles of occupational health nurse. Findings of this study suggest the transitional roles of Thai occupational health nurses in which training and technical supports from related organizations are in need.

The diagnostic value of a intra oral film is related to projecting technic and interpretation. The intra-oral film is a single plane representation of a three dimensional object, therefore superimposition is inevitablly present. The purpose of this article is to show how foreign objects in the jaw may be localized. The author used double exposure technics, that are changed angulation of vertical or horizontal to one film. The obtained results are as fallow: 1. In the upper anterior region, the moving distance of the labially impacted reference object was greater than that of the palatally impacted one. 2. In the upper molar region, the moving distance of the mesiobuccal root apex was the greatest and that of palatal root apex was the shortest. 3. In the lower molar region, the change of the alveolar bone level in the buccal side was greater than that of lingual side.

Jeon Suk-hee worked as permanent licensed Uisaeng (medical cadet) in Dalseong the Japanese occupation. The his newly discovered medical records were analyzed for the actual medical aspects of local Uisaeng. This article examined the medical view and treatment method of Jeon Suk-hee through the analysis of medical records, reveals facts which include : 1) The medical treatment was based on korean medical classification and treatment. This, along with the case of Cheongkang Kim Young-hoon, is an example of the preservation of traditional Korean medicine during the Japanese colonial period. 2) There is little effect of Shanghanlun (Treatise on Cold Damage). One side of Joseon medicine, which had a weak tradition of Shanghan, is revealed. 3) It did not simply follow the existing prescription of korean medicine's book. Examples include use of Cheongsin-san and Jeongjin-tang, which cannot be found in existing prescriptions.

This article proposes the modified KNN (K Nearest Neighbor) algorithm which considers the feature similarity and is applied to the word categorization. The texts which are given as features for encoding words into numerical vectors are semantic related entities, rather than independent ones, and the synergy effect between the word categorization and the text categorization is expected by combining both of them with each other. In this research, we define the similarity metric between two vectors, including the feature similarity, modify the KNN algorithm by replacing the exiting similarity metric by the proposed one, and apply it to the word categorization. The proposed KNN is empirically validated as the better approach in categorizing words in news articles and opinions. The significance of this research is to improve the classification performance by utilizing the feature similarities.

Recently, due to the evolution of technology, the field of neurosurgery is receiving spotlight. In particular endovascular neurosurgery has gained a great interest along with the advancement of the modern neurosurgery. The most remarkable advances were made in embolization of the cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and intracranial stenosis during the past 10 years. These advances will further change the role of neurosurgeons in treating cerebrovascular disease. Because interventional neuroradiologists have performed most of procedures in the past, neurosurgeons have been deprived of chances to learn endovascular procedure. This article discusses the development of technological aspect of endovascular neurosurgery in chronological order. By understanding the history and current status of the endovascular surgery, the future of neurosurgery will be promising.

Given the different effects of agricultural mechanization on various stages of wheat planting in Henan, this article selects 78 observation samples from Henan, a major wheat-growing province. It uses different research methods (multiple linear regression, social network analysis model, multi-layer sensory nerves network) to conduct a comparative study, and the calculation results of the model show that the experimental results have a strong convergence and consistency. Agricultural mechanization services have significant effects on the three stages of wheat planting: harvesting, plowing and sowing. A higher degree of mechanized service in several stages can reduce the cost of growing wheat on family farms.
