  • With the advancement of technology, there are almost no constraints on expression in virtual reality (VR) art; however, it still has some limitations. VR artists can be largely classified into two groups in terms of style. The first group is artists who create their works as a live performance. In this case, a major limitation is that the artist cannot see how the audience reacts to the work because he/she wears a VR device while performing, and the audience cannot fully experience the work, since they view it only on-screen without any VR devices. This problem can be solved if all members of the audience wear VR devices; however, that requires astronomical costs and brings about another problem related to device management. If the price of VR devices decreases as technology develops, it may help solve this problem. The second group is exhibition artists who regularly display their works online. In this case, the limitation is that their work using VR remains only in the virtual digital space. In this case, a solution may be creating space in exhibition halls, and providing VR devices to audience members in existing art exhibitions.

  • This paper is to apply an individual travel cost method(TCM) to estimate demand functions for cultural services enjoyed by visiting 3 branches of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art located in the Seoul Metropolitan area. This paper extends the standard TCM by incorporating opportunity costs of leisure time and two different data generating process - 398 respondents from an on-site survey and 600 respondents from a general household survey. Negative binomial models reflecting the non-negative integer nature of visiting frequency with over-dispersed variance were best fitted for demand functions, in which residents of Seoul metropolitan area surveyed from on the site exhibited higher visitation demand for the national art museum. Price elasticity and income elasticity differed by respondents' residency. Price elasticity of long distance visitors (-0.21) was more inelastic from those of Seoul residents (-0.34 ~ -0.5). Moreover, regional residents outside of Seoul area seemed to consider that services from the national art museum is a normal good with income elasticity of 0.5, whereas the Seoul residents seemed to perceive it to be an inferior good with income elasticity of -0.05.

An ETC program was composed based on the therapeutic factors of the ETC components. Seven mothers of first-grade students located in city A of Gyeonggi-do were selected as the subjects of the study. These mothers underwent 11 sessions of ETC-based group art therapy from April 18 to May 24, 2019, 1 to 2 times a week for 70 to 90 minutes. In order to verify the effectiveness of this research program, scores from pre- and post-parental anxiety scales were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 program. Results demonstrated that first, mothers' parental anxiety was significantly reduced after the ETC program participation. Second, changes in ETC component use throughout the program positively influenced reductions in parental anxiety. In conclusion, each participant experienced the opportunity to self-explore and self-understand at all levels of ETC with their preferred art medium, thereby lowering parenting anxiety. It is meaningful that through the ETC-based art therapy program, the client can be self-aware of his or her problem, and the client can decide the direction that is beneficial to them through voluntary media selection. In addition, it is meaningful that the ETC group art therapy is able to perform activities tailored to each individual.

  • This study focuses on the analysis of Baudelaire's aesthetic perspective which has established a theoretical basis on research of the critical reviews' salon exhibitions as written by Baudelaire. Charles Pierre Baudelaire(1821-1867) having lived during the latter part of Neo-classicism and the era of Romanticism and Impressionism, Baudelaire displayed opposition to customary realities such as social ideology or religious authority that suppressed human nature. Also he pioneered a new genre known as art criticism and wrote much that provided important insights on the essential elements of artistic work, modernity and trend, as well as art definition and art categories. The aesthetic perspective and creative spirit were formed by Baudelaire, during his age were also reconfirmed in the successive ages of modernism and postmodernism. As such, this study sheds light on how Baudelaire's aesthetic perspective was not only temporarily assertion but it is consistently applied to modern art and fashion area. What is more important that, Baudelaire admired new artificial beauty that is created by the human soul liberated from natural instincts or desires. Especially, informed by strangeness and distinctiveness, Baudelaire's view of fashion ran along the same vein as his view of art, and these views form the basis of that creative spirit which situated western fashion on a center of the world. In conclusion, the research on Baudelaire's aesthetic perspective will reaffirm a firm awareness of the creative spirit essential to globally-oriented creative artists and designers who work within the circumstance of the 21st century, a time when the paving of new aesthetic paths is necessary. The research also offers a clear understanding of the aesthetic values demanded by this age.
