Layout Optimization of FPSO Topside High Pressure Equipment Considering Fire Accidents with Wind Direction (풍향에 따른 화재영향을 고려한 FPSO 상부구조물 고압가스 모듈내부의 장비 최적배치 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find the optimal arrangement of FPSO equipment in a module while considering the economic value and fire risk. We estimated the economic value using the pipe connections and pump installation cost in an HP (high pressure) gas compression module. The equipment risks were also analyzed using fire scenarios based on historical data. To consider the wind effect during a fire accident, fuzzy modeling was applied to improve the accuracy of the analysis. The objective functions consisted of the economic value and fire risk, and the constraints were the equipment maintenance and weight balance of the module. We generated a Pareto-optimal front group using a multi-objective GA (genetic algorithm) and suggested an equipment arrangement method that included the opinions of the designer.

Optimal design of seismic reinforcement for structures with asymmetric rigidity plans using genetic algorithm (유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 비대칭 강성 구조물의 내진보강 최적설계)

  • In this study, we propose an optimal design method by applying the Prefabricated Buckling Restrained Brace (PF-BRB) to structures with asymmetrically rigidity plan. As a result of the PF-BRB optimal design of a structure with an asymmetrically rigidity plan, it can be seen that the reduction effect of dynamic response is greater in the case of arrangement considering the asymmetric distribution of stiffness (Asym) than in the case of arrangement in the form of a symmetric distribution (Sym), especially It was confirmed that at an eccentricity rate of 20%, the total amount of reinforced PF-BRBs was also small. As a result of analyzing the dynamic response characteristics according to the change in eccentricity of the asymmetrically rigidity plan, the distribution of the reinforced PF-BRB showed that the larger the eccentricity, the greater the amount of damper distribution around the eccentric position. Additionally, when comparing the analysis models with an eccentricity rate of 20% and an eccentricity rate of 12%, the response reduction ratio of the 20% eccentricity rate was found to be large.

  • This paper proposes a new IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) algorithm, which is proper for IMDCT(Inverse Modified Discrete Cosine Transform) of MPEG-2 AAC(Advanced Audio Coding) decoder. The $2^n$(N-point) type IMDCT is the most powerful among many IMDCT algorithms, however it includes IFFT that requires many calculation cycles. The IFFT used in $2^n$(N-point) type IMDCT employ the bit-reverse data arrangement of inputs and N/4-point complex IFFT to reduce the calculation cycles. We devised a new data arrangement method of IFFT input and $N/4^{n+1}$-type IFFT and thus we can reduce multiplication cycles, addition cycles, and ROM size.

  • Purpose: In order to accurately reach an underwater projectile to a target point, reliable INS and accurate arrangement of INS between master and slave INS is paramount. Unlike terrestrial and aerial environments, underwater projectile will operates in a restricted environment where location information cannot be received or sent through satellites. In this report, we review the factors affecting the transfer alignment of master and slave INS, as well as how to improve the positional error between INS through improved transfer alignment algorithms. Methods: In this work, we propose an improvement algorithm and verify it through simulation and driving test. The simulation confirmed the difference in the transfer alignment azimuth by fitting the MINS and SINS indoors, displacement in posture, and the process of transfer alignment between MINS and SINS through a driving test to confirm algorithm can improve the arrangement. Results: According to this study, reason for the error in the transfer alignment between MINS/SINS is the factors of the system where movements such as roll, pitch, yaw are not inter locked in real time due to the delay in transmit/receive system. And confirm that the improved algorithm has a desirable effect on accuracy. Conclusion: Through this work, it is possible to identify ways to improve the accuracy of underwater projectiles to reach their target points under various underwater environments and launch condition.

  • To improve the performance of blanket: maximizing the tritium breeding rate (TBR) for tritium self-sufficiency, and minimizing the Dose of backplate for radiation protection, most previous studies are based on manual corrections to adjust the blanket structure to achieve optimization design, but it is difficult to find an optimal structure and tends to be trapped by local optimizations as it involves multiphysics field design, which is also inefficient and time-consuming process. The artificial intelligence (AI) maybe is a potential method for the optimization design of the blanket. So, this paper aims to develop an intelligent optimization method based on an improved multi-objective NSGA-III algorithm and an adaptive BP neural network to solve these problems mentioned above. This method has been applied on optimizing the radial arrangement of a conceptual design of CFETR HCSB blanket. Finally, a series of optimal radial arrangements are obtained under the constraints that the temperature of each component of the blanket does not exceed the limit and the radial length remains unchanged, the efficiency of the blanket optimization design is significantly improved. This study will provide a clue and inspiration for the application of artificial intelligence technology in the optimization design of blanket.

  • To raise the industrial competitiveness in the field of ship-building, it is crucially important that the yard should use production facilities and working space effectively. Among the related works, the management of tremendous blocks' number, the limited area of assembly shops and inefficient personnel and facility management still need to be improved in terms of being exposed to a lot of problems. To settle down these conundrums, the various strategies of block arrangement on the assembly floors have been recently presented and in the results, have increasingly began to be utilized in practice. However, it is a wonder that the sampled or approximated block shapes which usually are standardized projections or the geometrically convex contour only have been prevailed until now. In this study, all parts including the panel, stiffeners, outer shells, and all kinds of outfitting equipment are first extracted using the Volume Primitive plug-in module from the ship customized CAD system and then, the presented system constructs a simpler and more compact ship data structure and finally generates the novel projected contours for the block arrangement system using the adaptive concave hull algorithm.

Nanofluid flow and heat transfer from heated square cylinder in the presence of upstream rectangular cylinder under Couette-Poiseuille flow

  • A heated square cylinder (with height $A^*$) is kept parallel to the cold wall at a fixed gap height $0.5A^*$ from the wall. Another adiabatic rectangular cylinder (of same height $A^*$ and width $0.5A^*$) is placed upstream in an inline tandem arrangement. The spacing between the two cylinders is fixed at $3.0A^*$. The inlet flow is taken as Couette-Poiseuille flow based non-linear velocity profile. The conventional fluid (also known as base fluid) is chosen as water (W) whereas the nanoparticle material is selected as $Al_2O_3$. Numerical simulations are performed by using SIMPLE algorithm based Finite Volume approach with staggered grid arrangement. The dependencies of hydrodynamic and heat transfer characteristics of the cylinder on non-dimensional parameters governing the nanofluids and the fluid flow are explored here. A critical discussion is made on the mechanism of improvement/reduction (due to the presence of the upstream cylinder) of heat transfer and drag coefficient, in comparison to those of an isolated cylinder. It is observed that the heat transfer increases with the increase in the non-linearity in the incident velocity profile at the inlet. For the present range studied, particle concentration has a negligible effect on heat transfer.

PSO-SAPARB Algorithm applied to a VTOL Aircraft Longitudinal Dynamics Controller Design and a Study on the KASS (수직이착륙기 종축 제어기 설계에 적용된 입자군집 최적화 알고리즘과 KASS 시스템에 대한 고찰)

  • In the case of hard problems to find solutions or complx combination problems, there are various optimization algorithms that are used to solve the problem. Among these optimization algorithms, the representative of the optimization algorithm created by imitating the behavior patterns of the organism is the PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm. Since the PSO algorithm is easily implemented, and has superior performance, the PSO algorithm has been used in many fields, and has been applied. In particular, PSO-SAPARB (PSO with Swarm Arrangement, Parameter Adjustment and Reflective Boundary) algorithm is an advanced PSO algorithm created to complement the shortcomings of PSO algorithm. In this paper, this PSO-SAPARB algorithm was applied to the longitudinal controller design of a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft that has the advantages of fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft among drones which has attracted attention in the field of UAVs. Also, through the introduction and performance of the Korean SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) named KASS (Korea Augmentation Satellite System) which is being developed currently, this paper deals with the availability of algorithm such as the PSO-SAPARB.

Basic study about Automatic Rebar Quantity Estimation Integrated with Structural Design Information (구조설계정보 통합 관리에 의한 철근 물량 산출 자동화 기초 연구)

  • Estimation of rebar quantity may be used as an index to evaluate the economic feasibility of structural designs. However, when using the software to estimate the rebar quantity, there may be some limitations such as data loss caused by human errors and estimation delays caused by increased input time, since the information on arrangement of rebar is inserted manually. To solve the problems of such quantity estimation software, it is necessary to develop a method on automatic input/output of structural design information for quantity estimation and an algorithm for accurate estimation of rebar quantity. The purpose of this study is to improve the existing rebar quantity estimation by connecting with the database on information related to rebar estimation and the algorithm for rebar estimation, in order to develop an algorithm to estimate an accurate, net rebar quantity. The study result can be used as basic data for development of software for efficient structural designs and automatic framework estimation of buildings.

Hybrid of the fuzzy logic controller with the harmony search algorithm to PWR in-core fuel management optimization

  • One of the important parts of the in-core fuel management is loading pattern optimization (LPO). The loading pattern optimization as a reasonable design of the in-core fuel management can improve both economic and safe aspects of the nuclear reactor. This work proposes the hybrid of fuzzy logic controller with harmony search algorithm (HS) for loading pattern optimization in a pressurized water reactor. The music improvisation process to find a pleasing harmony is inspiring the harmony search algorithm. In this work, the adjustment of the harmony search algorithm parameters such as the bandwidth and the pitch adjustment rate are increasing performance of the proposed algorithm which is done through a fuzzy logic controller. Hence, membership functions and fuzzy rules are designed to improve the performance of the HS algorithm and achieve optimal results. The objective of the method is finding an optimum core arrangement according to safety and economic aspects such as reduction of power peaking factor (PPF) and increase of effective multiplication factor (Keff). The proposed approach effectiveness has been tried in two cases, Michalewicz's bivariate function problem and NEACRP LWR core. The results show that by using fuzzy harmony search algorithm the value of the fitness function is improved by 15.35%. Finally, with regard to the new solutions proposed in this research it could be used as a trustworthy method for other optimization issues of engineering field.
